It's always nice coming in here and smelling the aroma of sweet tobacco! Came in today to grab a couple of cigars for the hubby. Very helpful and friendly staff. They have large selection that will fit any budget. If you like cigars, this is the place! Parking is horrible, but if you get lucky enough to get a spot, it's well worth the visit. 8/13/16 Came in today to stock up on stogies. The good news is the Rain City Cigar Lounge is up and running. It's basically a converted van that sits in the parking lot and is available to members who meet a certain monthly criteria. The weird news is, I opened my Yelp app to check in and saw that as a yelper we get a 5% discount on orders of 5 cigars or more. Well imagine my surprise when I see signs posted in the store that if you buy 5 or more, you get 5% off. Sorry Yelpers. We aren't special after all. :(. I received the intro to cigars 101 lecture because I didn't identify myself as a seasoned aficionado. But even the impromptu course didn't feel condescending. Again this was delivered by a Seattle-ite so I was equally surprised and delighted. While RCC deserved of a fifth star I'm withholding it because their inventory was a bit lacking for my taste. I overheard a white-fib being told to another patron when he asked for Davidoff cigars. My go to cigar is a Davidoff Special R because of its consistency but to my surprise they didn't have any. I didn't want a place that sold a few cigars, Black and Milds, and Camels. Fortunately, I found Rain City Cigar in good ol' Georgetown. Rain City Cigar is a small shop but comes equipped with an impressive variety of cigars. Light colored, dark colored, thick, thin, full-bodied, light, and from all countries all over the world, Although I am a cigar smoker, I haven't educated myself enough on what is considered high end. When shopping for a cigar my specifications are simple: cheap, light, and smells heavenly and Rain City has always been able to provide me with something I end up thoroughly enjoying. What makes Rain City top notch are the employees. They are passionate about cigars and are enthusiastic about educating and finding a cigar best suits your tastes. I am so psyched to have discovered a place like this on the south side! I needed my cigar lighter refilled and searched for a place that might sell the right kind of butane cannister, which led me here. It's nearby so I just drove over and asked if they could sell me a cannister, to which the clerk said, "Sure - but we'll always refill your lighter for free if you'd prefer." I hadn't even bought the lighter there. Sweet! As far as the actual cigar part of this story - which is more important than free butane, I'll grant you - this was an even nicer surprise: clean and comfortable atmosphere for perusing, great selection properly stored and displayed, great prices, friendly and knowledgeable service, and heavenly aroma as soon you walk through the door. I don't normally rate or write reviews after one visit, but since this isn't a restaurant, with none of the unavoidable ups and downs that are the very essence of food service, I'm totally okay giving this place max love after spending a pleasant 15 or 20 minutes there today. I have found a few new items in stock there when other shops didn't get their shipment yet. I really appreciated the great service at this location. They have a large variety of cigars and all of the accessories. They prices are good, and their Friday featured brand specials are great. I went on a Thursday not realizing that they close rather early - when you navigate to a place google generally tells you if it's closed/closing soon, but Google let me down this time. This worked out great because I returned the next day and they had their Friday featured brand. A representative from Oliva cigars was there. I purchased about a dozen, they gave me 4 free and threw in an Oliva cutter as well. They humidor I bought was reasonably priced, not much more than I would have paid online - the price on the cigars actually balanced the cost difference. Plus they had quick friendly service. I will definitely return. They had several chairs set up outside in the parking lot, under an EZ-up and there were several men smoking outside in the nice weather. read more

I visited this store twice while on vacation in Seattle and my words are based on that fact. Well, I was startled at the few stores available to buy cigars in Seattle. I do not mean the typical 'smoke shops' which are predominantly cigarette and convenience store items based but real cigar professionals with walk in humidors and knowledgeable staff. Rain City was found on line while doing some pre-work before my arrival in Seattle. Yes, the location is very easy to find and convenient if you are staying at any of the downtown hotels. Upon arrival at the store the first morning I met Joe whom I assumed was the owner as he was very engaging speaking about the cigar scene in Seattle, state taxes and the selection at the store. Better yet, Joe took me to the 'back' storage room where the bulk of stock is kept - wow lots of good stuff! I picked up a few sticks the first day to test the storage quailty - one Padron exclusivo was less than optimal but I was all right with the other two sticks. The one disappointment was the availability of my favorites or available quantities: Ashton VSG, Padron 64 principe and RJ Habana to name a few. Price is price and based on no real competition with equal selection there most likely is no incentive to charge less. Overall, when I compared my bill for cigars from Manhattan last summer I would state that Rain City per stick prices (10% discount included) are equal to NYC pricing (Nat Sherman, De La Concha and Barclay-Rex) without the selection that one has on the other coast. Overall, I would return based on limited availability in Seatle and most importantly Joe's very welcoming demeanour! read more

When ever I need a cigar that was released recently I know where to go. Rain City Cigar This place always has the cigars I'm looking for in the sizes I want. (normally lancero) They had Leaf by Oscar which has been a difficult cigar to find because they don't sell online. The staff is always friendly and informative. Their knowledge on the cigars is top notch. I don't like a full strength cigar but I enjoy a full bodied cigar. I've only been shopping here for about eight months, but every person behind the counter has treated me like I've been a valued customer for the twenty years that I've been smoking pipes and cigars. It hasn't mattered if the place is packed with customers or if I'm the only one there, I'm still treated like I'm important. - Add a star for the location. If I'm on my way home from work, to work, to Costco... they're only a few blocks off of any of the major thoroughfares in Georgetown. - Add a star for the prices. Out of towners- Welcome to Washington! Our state has had a slew of amazingly punitive tobacco laws and taxes. Rain City lobbies on our behalf for reasonable legislation. Regardless, the prices and selection here beat any cigarette store/head shop disguised as a cigar store. On boxes they are on par with the online store I used to buy from.... plus I don't have to wait for shipping. The only problem I have with Rain City is that I'm out of room in my humidor thanks to my last trip there. It's a pretty good problem to have. read more

Well, firstly the staff is terrific. They are attentive, knowledgeable and don't pressure you at all. They will go out of their way to meet your needs. The pipe selection is very nice, as is the cigar selection...but for me, personally, the choice of pipe tobacco is really fantastic. It is hard to find a good pipe place in Seattle - most places are head shops with very little in the means of real pipes, much less knowledge of which tobaccos they sell. The array of tobaccos here is fabulous, and the staff can narrow down your desired smoke with a few questions and some samples or smells. I am very happy to find this shop. I wasn't able to quite find a tobacconist I felt at home with, or fully trusted the pipe and pipe tobacco selection...but Rain City Cigar is a very pleasant find. I'm something of a novice cigar smoker, and I've only been to Rain City once. The service I received was excellent. The guy that helped me was helpful and informative. My only small beef was that I felt the supply was rather high-end. I can usually find a decent range of cigars at around 5 dollars, but a cursory glance at Rain City yielded no such luck. I ended up spending a few dollars more than I wanted to, but oh well. Good place to go for quality cigars. read more
