I'm honestly glad to see so many people here had such a great experience with this company. Mine was not a good one, so I feel it's necessary to at least put a warning here so others may possibly avoid adding even more stress and sadness to an already traumatic experience. If you're going to use the services of Rainbow Bridge, please consider the following advice.... 1). If your pet passes away at your vet's office, PLEASE PLEASE make sure they call Rainbow Bridge to make sure they're available before leaving your beloved pet. I know their website/reading material promises too pick them up on the same day----sometimes "within hours".....but my baby was left waiting in the office for five days. She died on a Thursday at 8am, and they didn't pick her up until Monday late afternoon. My vet is absolutely amazing, but he's also a 'country' vet, so I'm pretty sure her remains weren't handled with the dignity RB promises I never, EVER would have left her there had I known it would be so long. 2). Do NOT expect any communication from Rainbow Bridge regarding the status of your pet. Not when they pick them up, not when they're done, not why they're so late....nothing. Be sure to keep their phone number on hand. 3). Do not expect to receive your pet within the seven day promised window....and as stated above....do not expect to any communication from them as to why there is a delay, or when she will be ready to come home. I was finally able to get in touch with someone at the office on day 13. 4). Do not expect any of the personal attention promised in the paperwork. The lady I was finally able to speak to in the office, didn't recognize or remember my baby, and even worse, know where she currently was or when she would be returned to my vet for pick up. This was day 13! She did call back later to let me know they were dropping her off later that afternoon. 5.) *****DO NOT LEAVE THE VETS OFFICE BEFORE COLLECTING YOUR OWN HAIR SAMPLE AND PAW-PRINT IF IT'S IMPORTANT TO YOU (AS IT WAS FOR ME) BECAUSE EVEN IF YOU PUT IT ON THE TICKET AND PAY THE EXTRA FEES FOR THIS PROMISED SERVICE, IT MAY NOT GET DONE! I wanted this! It was sooo important to me! I paid the extra fees for both services and had my vet put it on the ticket in BOLD letters and underlined so it would be done! What I got back? A paper bag with a teeny, tiny tin can and two crumpled, wrinkled up papers. One, the 'certificate of cremation', and the other instructions on what to do with the ashes. NO paw print NO hair clipping When my vet called asking about the missing items, they first tried to make excuses as to why it wasn't done, and then finally admitted it "just wasn't." 6). If they do mess up something so important to you you're literally crying in the vet's office while holding the bag of your 18y/o beloved pet...don't expect them to even attempt to reach out to you to apologize, or to in any way, shape, or form, take responsibility for missing such an important detail. The service we received from the wonderful people at Rainbow Bridge was most appreciated. Gilbert was treated with such care and attention, and the way his cremains were presented to us shows that. They included pamphlets on how to cope with the loss of a pet, a certificate of a private crematory, a cedar box for Gilbert's remains and a little plaque engraved with Gilbert's name. I don't have the heart to put any of the literature away in a closet or in a drawer, so there it sits on the sideboard. Gilbert's ashes are in clear view of the kitchen, just where he would have been sitting and watching everything if he were still alive. I haven't managed to muster the strength to put the pen to paper and thank "Butch" Garza for providing such a tender service to people in their time of need with their loved pets, but I most certainly will. read more

"Wow!" - literally my words when I received my beloved dog's ashes. My poodle was with me for fourteen years, fourteen! Losing him to old age and illness was so extremely hard. I knew we were going to cremate him and at the recommendation of out vet, we chose Rainbow Bridge Pet Crematory. I picked up my pup's ashes at our vet's office five days after he passed. It came in a nice medium sized gift bag with the Rainbow Bridge poem on one side of the bag in gold font. I looked inside and instantly started crying in my car in the parking lot, but these were happy tears. I see a wooden engraved box which contained a plastic bag inside with my dog's ashes. A certificate and some sheets of paper with inspiring and uplifting words were also included. Look I get it, not everyone is religious, I'm not religious but these poems and kind words actually put a big smile on my face. Someone gave this company a low rating because of the "religious crap" included in the bag. All you'd have to do is simply grab the box of ashes and certificate and go on with your day. Yelling at your vet's office because Rainbow Bridge Pet Crematory included some sheets of paper with kind words about animals? Wow. One needs to be open minded to all religions and realize that converting you to Christianity is probably not on their agenda. My bag could have contained pet poems and prayers from any religion and as long as it painted a pretty picture of where my pet could possibly be (whether I believe or not) I'd still be happy. I chose Rainbow Bridge for their services. I chose them for their detailed information on how the cremation process works and I put trust in their business ensuring that the ashes I received are definitely those of MY dog. Rainbow Bridge is the crematory that Austin Vet Care uses. When I made the decision to euthanize my cat after she was badly injured, I was given choices about what to do with her remains and I chose cremation. I picked up my cat's ashes a couple weeks after she died at Austin Vet Care. When I got to the car and looked through the bag, I was very disturbed by the materials they included with her ashes. There was a cheesy poem, "you're not there to greet me when I walk through the door... you're not curled up in your favorite chair..." It was not comforting or poignant at all; it was tear-jerking crap, and who needs to read that when they're grieving a pet? There was also an explanation of the Rainbow Bridge--a pseudo-Heaven where deceased pets wait for their owners to be re-united. Not everyone who has their pet cremated is religious or believes in an afterlife, or finds the idea of a Rainbow Bridge comforting. I found it offensive. The box was labeled with my pet's name, but it was in quotation marks--would you do that for a human? It was all so tasteless. I was so upset I went back into the vet's office and told them I was offended by all the religious garbage. I was very emotional and kind of yelled at them. One of my dogs, Iza, died this past Tuesday, May 9th, 2017. She was 14 (would have been 15 June 1st), and I'd had her since she was maybe two-and-a-half months old. Picked her and her "sister" up off the streets of downtown Phoenix. They were not litter mates, different breeds/ages, but they were already a little pack. They were in bad shape when I got them. They went through a lot with me, and me with them, and they were the loves of my life. She died at home, with me and my other dog, Uba. Her death was as peaceful as I could have hoped for, even though it was the hardest thing I've had to do in my life, and I don't know that I'll get over it. I had scheduled the vet and Rainbow Bridge on the evening of the 8th, when I knew that it was Iza's time, and Rainbow Bridge was able to pick Iza up soon after she was euthanized. (I so hate talking about this!) I received her ashes and paw print last night, delivered back to my house. Everyone I dealt with was very nice. The etched wooden box I received her ashes in is just beautiful. I didn't realize how important to me it would be to have my dog's name permanently on a box like this, but it really is. I'm so happy to have her paw print, too. And having the pickup/drop-off at my house was really important and made this difficult process much easier. The only thing I regret is not asking for some of Iza's hair. By the time I realized I'd forgotten to ask about her hair, it was too late. What a fantastic service Butch provides for pet owners. He has handled the cremation of three of our Dalmatians, starting back in 2005, and with our third just a month or so ago. Way way way overdue review. We lost our moo cow (Doyle) back on June 2nd. In tears writing this review, I was a mess for weeks and still am just thinking about it. This is all while having to work, explain to my two daughters how unfair and short a dogs life is. So I used a good veterinarian clinic when he was diagnosed with cancer and when it was time to let him go, we opted for a cremation with the ashes returned to us. This decision was made 10 minutes after saying goodbye to our Moo. He had a bunch of nicknames but my daughters always called him Moo or moo moo cow. We received the ashes an a small minor detail, I noticed the box only said his main name, Doyle. I emailed them a week later, asking for a replacement box with his nickname on it. Now, I expected to pay for this. I didn't specify this. I didn't want it for free. I wasn't asking for free. You know what these good people do? They send me a free box straight to where I work with no questions asked, no friction. Thank you Rainbow Bridge. Thank you for this kind gesture. Thank you for understanding I was going through a very low low sad depressing time losing a dog I treated and still refer to as my son. Well the experience I had with Rainbow Bridge is hard to put into words but by meeting Heath and getting the chance to go to the facility and meet and speak with him it literally changed what was likely going to be an extreme grieving process and changed it to one of peace. I saw, sensed, and experienced the love that goes into the work they do, and the facility leaves no room for questions about whether or not your dog was treated with the same honor you have given him his whole life and transferred to another realm with dignity and respect. The facility is immaculate and beautiful in a beautifully wooded country side dense with large oak trees and wildlife, I observed 2 deer, a rabbit, and a roadrunner running freely on the property. I am so grateful to Rainbow Bridge for the service they provided for us. We had to say goodbye to our beloved 8 year old lab, Brodie on Wednesday of last week. I've used this service too many times but I am so happy with the results. I had to put my 2 dog kids down 2 weeks apart this year. It has been a tough time grieving because they were my family and now my family is gone. Jessi was almost 15 and she had been by my side all of those years but she was ready to go and had other health issues. Duke had osteosarcoma cancer and after his amputation, it spread to other areas of his body. The vet said he had a couple of days left when I took him in. I took Duke with me when I put Jessi down since I knew his time would come and I wanted him to say goodbye and also know what to expect. In November, I had to make the tough choice to put my 15 yr old cat to sleep. She had been diabetic for the last 4 years of her life and sadly her time came to take her final journey. I rescued her from the shelter and had her for 14 years. My vet provided me the option of having her cremated and her ashes returned to me - I didn't want to just give her away without her being near me. I didn't expect to get anything more than her ashes back in a small box, but what I received back surprised me. Her remains were in a small decorative tin box and included a few poems about her final journey. Unfortunately under the circumstances that I had to deal with this business's policies I was totally shocked at the lack of compasion and timely response in the "pick up" of a dearly deaceased animal that I was pet sitting. After 6.5 hours of having a dead dog lying in the living room (110 lbs vs a person (myself)$ w/ disabilities) I was truly shocked at they way they handled the situation. Lack of comunication between the pet owner ( on vacation) the Manager/Owner and me (the petsitter) about their "$100.00 "pick up service" and payment upfront, and I had to put as much muscle into the pick up as the tech did. what can I say? SHOCKING... and I've worked in the veterinary field for YEARS. As far as I know they are they "only" business in the area that deals with this. I lost my 2 lb yorkie, Cooper, on Jan. 31st. I decided to have him cremated so that I could keep him with me. My vet sent him to Rainbow Bridge and as of today, Feb. 15th, I have not received his ashes or had anyone there answer or return my phone calls. UPDATE: finally got a return phone call and was told that there had been a "mix-up". I have no way of knowing if I am really going to get Cooper's remains or dirt. Maybe the BBB can assist me. It was just about the worst day of my life. My best friend got very sick, very suddenly and I had to make a decision that I will always question, no matter how many people tell me I did "the right,humane thing" in allowing her to be put to sleep. I had relatives that were kind enough to take care of everything for me, all I asked is that she was cremated. Days later I was so upset with myself for not asking for a lock of hair/paw imprint but that's just not something you think about when your best friend is dead. About a week after she had to leave us, I got a call from the animal hospital saying Mandie's remains were ready to be picked up. When I arrived I expected a bag of ashes, not much more. I had never had a pet cremated before so I was unsure of what to expect. I received a bag containing a beautiful velvet bag covering a lovely pine box with Mandie's ashes inside. The bag also contained literature on loss of a pet, as well as a clay paw print with Mandie's name etched in it. I just broke down completely. They did such a beautiful job. Our vet coordinated cremation of our beloved Maurice with Rainbow Bridge. I was both impressed and touched by the care his remains clearly received as evidenced by the way they were presented to us. We received his remains in a lovely cedar box that was stored in a velvet bag inscribed "Until We Meet Again At The Rainbow Bridge." We also received a nameplate, a certificate of cremation, several poems (which are either corny or sweet, depending on your perspective, and I thought they were sweet), and two pamphlets, Death of the Family Pet and Ten Tips for Coping with the Loss of Your Pet (both of which I thought contained thoughtful, useful information). You can just tell from the way everything was presented that they are very caring about your pet and about you and how you feel about your pet's loss (devastated). It's been almost 6 weeks since we had to make the decision to put our little calico kitty, Rexie, to sleep because of kidney failure. We wanted to have her cremated and our vet suggested Rainbow Bridge, a pet crematorium they have used often. We were so pleased with the package we got back. There was a nice bag with a purple velvet pouch. The pouch held a carved wooden box from Poland with Rexie's ashes inside. There was even a nameplate to affix to the box and a certificate of her cremation. Also in the bag were two very sweet poems and two pamphlets on coping with the loss of an animal friend, which I have already found very helpful. My husband and I are not particularly religious but we are very spiritual and found these poems and literature both helpful and thoughtful. And it was the thoughtfulness that really counted. It was evident that Rainbow Bridge cared for our little Rexie and treated her remains with respect, which was all we were concerned with at that point. It made her passing a little easier. I am not positive that my dog's ashes are really her own. When I picked up her remains from the vet, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice to box was and all the nice little poems and whatnot, very high class yes... But when I opened the box, I was horrified... I had bought an urn to put my dog's ashes in so I took out the bag from the box and noticed a metal rod and two screws... The kind of rod and screws used in surgery to repair cruciate ligaments... Except my dog had NEVER HAD ANY SURGERY, and I had gotten her as a little puppy, so trust me that I would know if a metal rod had ever been placed in her body. I called the office and explained the situation and I was told that a manager would have to call back after they "looked into it". Still haven't received an answer, however my question is what exactly do you need to look into? Are these my dog's remains??? Or was there some screw up and I have someone else's remains?! I am beyond pissed. read more
