I stopped by on my lunch break to get nachos and cheese and a pink lady snoball. To no surprise when I pulled up there was a long line of cars. I guess I wasn't the only one that felt the need for a nice cool treat. I got out of my car and I walked up to the window. There were 2 teenage girls working. I went to window and I stood there. I continued to stand there until the car at the window ordered, paid, and received their (what seems to have been 6 snowballs). The young lady mouthed to me via the closed window "I'm coming" I placed my order. There were 3 girls sitting waiting for orders before me. They said they had been waiting about 20 min. Ehh it's okay truly hit or miss for snowballs. I come when I'm in town and if the line isn't super long you can sometimes find it stretched out to the street but I love the convenience of a drive-thru snowball stand. Unfortunately, the snowballs don't always match up today the line wasn't long and they were moving fast a guy came out the the car and took my order and things where moving I spent maybe 15 mins in line but when I got to the front my order was wrong (strawberry and pink lemonade ) typically there isn't a difference between where I go and how they should taste. When I was first handed the snowball it was all pink lemonade and when the young lady added the strawberry it just didn't seem to do much along with the fact it was slightly melted already. Now my only pet peeve with snowballs is hard ice and that's what I encountered you would think if it was melted the ice would be soft everywhere but it wasn't it's was more so flaky and in chunks. I came back home to Baton Rouge from Houston for the night and made it a point to stop at an old favorite. I moved to Houston two years ago and while the Space City has an unexpected and surprising advantage over the Red Stick when it comes to snowballs (seriously, this is a huge surprise), Rainbow Delites was still as great as I remembered. In the two years that I've been gone, they've laid a roundabout in the driveway as to avoid the line backing into Cedarcrest like it used to. But Houston has gotten me spoiled with the never-ending litany of flavors offered at the stands out there; there are 'new flavors' that at Rainbow Delites that I've already had at least once in Texas. Either way, my small Mardi Gras King Cake (purple) made my taste buds happy... ...though it is high time that they start up a rewards program--say, a punch card where the tenth punch is free...in addition to promotions... We got into the line at 6:05, they had a sign up that said the were open until 7 pm, when it was our turn to get to the window Instead of them just letting us know that they were closed for the evening they just closed the window, and their blinds, to us without a word or anything. I sat there for a bit thinking they were getting stuff together then I noticed one of them came to the window and peaked out to see who was outside, but they didn't open the window, or the blinds. So I knocked on the window like "hello" is anybody gonna do anything? I mean, at the very least, just tell us your closed, and then we'd go on about your way with no problem. By this time it was 630-ish, but noooooo. Not one person said "Hey we're closed" or "Sorry we're closed, they just closed their windows and blinds to us like we weren't even there. By this point I was very upset and I usually don't get upset like that, but they seem to be very very disrespectful. So in return I was very disrespectful and I yelled "(explet" out the window, and then left. It's already bad enough that they take FOREVER in the first place, but to then add insult to injury and just close up shop when we were the next, and last, in line?!? Who does that? read more

I decided to treat myself to a snoball on a hot day, and Rainbow Delites was the closest one. When I saw the line, I hesitated, but I decided it's gotta go fast. A very friendly employee walked around and took orders from car windows, so this gave me the impression that it would be fast. However, it took almost 30 minutes to get through the line to pay and get my snoball. It seems they have one person taking orders and one person working the window and making the snoballs. The organizational system here could definitely be more efficient. It does not take this long to prepare snoballs unless one person is doing entirely too much work themselves. I was still optimistic that maybe this snoball would be worth the wait. However, the ice was a bit too crunchy and large to be considered a true New Orleans-style snoball. I shouldn't have any crunch, or should be like actual snow - fluffy and melt-in-your-mouth. It was almost on the shaved ice side. I got my go-to flavor, a basic grape, and the syrup was good and the ratio of syrup to ice was correct. I guess I am proving to be a bit of a snoball snob here, but if I wait 30 minutes, it's gotta be AMAZING. It literally takes 30 mins just to get a snowball & the best part SHOULD be that there's usually someone that comes up to your car to take your order, but the gag is they STILL take forever to fix one snowball. So if you're in a rush trying to stop here, just forget it. But on the plus side the snowballs are pretty good, so by the time you get it you're not completely disappointed I guess. New hours are 12-6pm but they haven't updated any online sources such as Yelp, Facebook or Google. Even if the employees are still in the shack during open hours towards the end of the day and see you pull up to the window, they'll pretend not to see you and ignore you till you drive away. My wife and I stopped by on Sunday March 19, 2017 at about 4:50p to the walk up window to order. It wasn't until 5:05p that I was able to order. After that, it wasn't until 5:55p that I received my snowballs! Over 1 hour wait for 3 snowballs is outrageous! Not to mention the place is ultra run down, dirty, and smelled terrible! We live right down cedarcrest and frequent this snowball stand fairly often. The wait is usually pretty bad (somewhere around 30min) but today was by far the worst experience I've had as far as wait and environment. The people behind us in line actually walked away after about 30min without even worring about getting what they ordered and the next guy banged on the window after 45min wanting his money back! The only reason I did not do the same was because we promised our 2 kids (5 and 2 years old) they would get one... I guarantee this will be the last time I go to this snowball stand. So I was not aware of this amazing cold delight. I've been blown away no more Icee or "raspados" for me ever again. This particular stand is right behind RaceTrac, there are times the line is crazy about a 20min wait or you can walk up to the window. Monday thru Friday keep school hours in mind.... (It's the south so nobody's in a hurry) So many flavors to choose from also warhead, condense milk, and ice cream to choose from. My favorite is wild cherry, pink lemonade sour, pineapple, and cherry warhead. My shit be bangin! LMAO Also any hood children that heard the ice cream truck and grabbed a bag of Cheetos with spicy nacho cheese?! Well they got a whole pie here! Enjoy. You got 2 flavors that look interesting but they are not my type one is snow angel and that's like a white cake type. The 2nd is silver fox which is like a cookie flavored type.
