I am absolutely addicted to Marble Slab ice cream. The ice cream never disappoints. This ice cream parlor offers many ice cream flavors, homemade cones, milk shakes, and even cookies. I always order the birthday cake flavored ice cream. This is the only marble slab in the area that offers sugar cookie dough as a topping (which is homemade). They also stay open late on weekends. It's perfect for a delicious sweet treat. read more

The Marble Slab Creamery is a nice place to enjoy a frozen treat. They are one of the original tenants of the CitiPlace development, and are still going strong today. Of course their namesake marble slab is an important component of their confections. It is a frozen surface upon which they blend the add-ins of your choice to the ice cream of your choice to make a dessert that is uniquely yours. Any and all toppings or add-ins are allowed. If this means too many choices for you to deal with, don't worry because they have many pre-selected options posted for you to choose from. In addition to all the bowls and cones, they also have shakes, sundaes, and even ice-cream cakes you can purchase to take home or to a party. I don't understand why each and every establishment closes at 9 pm in Baton Rouge. Especially with it being a casino town. After dinner my friends and I wanted ice cream. The closest place of this nature was Brewsters Ice Cream. Knowing it closed at 10 pm we kicked it into high gear and headed that way arriving at 9:40. When we arrived we noticed all lights were off with zero cars in the parking lot...they had closed early. We were not giving up though. Next closest spot was Marble Slab. My gf Kim called and asked if they were really closing at 10 or planned on packing up early and heading out. The gentleman politely said they would remain open until 10. She warned him we would arrive with an estimated ETA of 9:58. He stated his doors would remain open. We arrive literally at 9:58 and gleefully smiled because he kept his word and the Open sign was lit up bright red. Knowing we had minimal time, we scurried inside and quickly made up our mind. The gentleman behind the counter greeted us with a sincere smile and happily made our four orders. While we were waiting for our dessert, we all genuinely thanked him for staying open and enjoyed some small talk. Turns out this establishment is family owned and has been open for over 25 years. He was the son of the owner attending LSU pursuing a degree in business as he planned on taking over the business. We sat down for a moment and enjoyed our ice cream and chat while he began closing duties. All the ice cream is made in house and all toppings were available at no extra charge. These days one gets charged extra for basically anything and everything so it was nice to see this place is kind enough to add extras with no additional cost. Our ice cream was amazIng. I had the pecan caramel something () that consisted of butter pecan ice cream with caramel, pecans and chocolate chips in a waffle cone. Hubs got strawberry cheesecake also in a waffle cone dipped in white chocolate and sprinkles. Again both were fresh and absolutely amazing. I wish more places displayed the customer service this business had. His attitude, friendly demeanor and kind soul made our evening. Thank you sir! If I lived anywhere remotely close to Baton Rouge this most definitely would be my go to spot for ice cream. read more

The only reason I'm giving 1 star is because we came on a Saturday afternoon and there was only 1 employee working....1. And as you know, the ice cream here takes some time to make. The line was 11 people long, which wouldn't be an issue if there was more than 1 employee. Pretty poor management. read more

The ice cream taste like old times however the establishment is not like old times. One employee working. I waited a few mins before he even came from the back to wait on me. I was just standing in the lobby area. He initially came to the front with no mask or gloves on. My receipt wasn't detailed so I could've been charged more. I can tell he was trying to hurry with me to get back to the back of the establishment to do whatever he was doing before I came in. It's not extremely well kept like back in the days but quality of ice cream seems the same. Due to Covid I think they should have a better setup for getting paper towel/napkins instead of having an exposed roll out. read more

I am from out of town, and was so exc to eat cotton candy ice cream (my favorite childhood flavor). I had entered the establishment and asked the ONLY employee if they had that flavor. She bluntly replied "not today" and continued to take the order of the next customer. I am so disappointed that my memory of this place is now only a memory, as this location clearly doesn't have the same sweet atmosphere as it once did. Creamery more like Thievery!!!!! read more

I agree with the low reviews on the quality and appeal of the location. It's not well kept. However it's still marble slab sweet cream and thats a. long time love of mine that I don't get often. The one worker was a champ. Worked hard and the owners should be lucky to have him ! One worker -- so the lines grow fast! I wish it could be amped up to what other marbles slabs are like and it was be great ! read more

Kinda had a weird after taste and the long line was a little much due to the fact that they only had one person taking orders making orders and taking payment he moved pretty quick for a one man show and the 20 mins we were here he served about 13 people so not bad but they should have More than one person working here read more

The ice cream is to die for! I love how creamy it is and how you can tell the ice cream is fresh. It's a little pricey, but so worth it! I had the birthday cake ice cream with sprinkles. Pimply faced boy that don't know the meaning of the term customer service. My wife and I paused at the counter trying to fish out the cherry on my milkshake. The boy says: have you already paid? I said yes. He then replied: Y'all can go. He needs to be a little more tactful on how he says things. He could have said, can I get you anything else? And thank you. Milkshake was good but girlie that was the shift leader as far as her badge says, didn't fill my cup with that sweet delicious stuff because as far as I can see she didn't want to make the effort of getting the thick milkshake out of the blender. She just covered it up with whipped cream. Y'all can go there just get on these kids to do right. read more

Dirtiest marble slab I have ever seen. Ice cream not at proper temperature and urine smell and dead bugs in bathroom. Out of coconut flakes and no coffee ice cream. Place needs a major clean up job. Sad because I always thought of marble slab as a very clean and well run establishment but this one is not! read more

Worst experience with this place. Ordered a custom cake for my daughters birthday and got confirmation email. That night received another email the order was canceled with no explanation. Called the place and was told it was canceled because the price was not correct on there website. I told them I would pay additional for custom cake and they said they would make cake. Went to pick it up today and no cake. The guy working gets on phone calling someone for 10 minutes and comes back and says the cake was never made. No explanation. Will never go to this place again. read more

It's a little sweet and the texture leftover can be a little sticky in the mouth. It's hard to explain that but it's not perfectly smooth. The oreo is my favorite, they do it right here. Only issue about it is that it's hard to scoop so the employees don't usually make it the FotW as a result so I rarely get it. The vanilla is a classic and dependable flavor. I'm not a chocolate gurl but the double chocolate has a nice rich flavor. I also liked the chocolate oreo, it definitely goes well together. The mint chocolate chip when I had it was disappointing. It lacked the chips to balance the mint flavor. People really like the peach flavor but it just doesn't taste like peaches to me, maybe a hint of it but it's not that good. I don't really like the toffee flavor, I wouldn't try it again. The strawberry cheesecake was pretty good and I prefer it more than the blueberry cheesecake flavor.
