This review is for dumpster service from Rainbow, also-known-as Republic services. If I could give them zero stars I would. Republic is quite possibly the worst company I've ever had to deal with. I used them once for a 3-yard dumpster rental in Huntington Beach with no issues. I tried to rent from them a second time and it was as if I was dealing with a whole different company. I placed my order with them on a Monday, for delivery on Wednesday of the same week. I was told by the sales rep that Republic only delivers on Wednesdays and picks up on Fridays. I filled out their paperwork, filled out the contract with electronic signatures and provided payment. I then called Republic in the afternoon of the next day, Tuesday, to get a delivery window. The rep said that they don't give delivery windows until the day of but that they hadn't completed my order and wouldn't be delivering the dumpster. The rep said that the person who initially handled my order hadn't completed the paperwork so they weren't going to be delivering. No one from Republic called or emailed me to let me know that. I then filled out the paperwork a second time, did the Docusign and provided payment again for delivery the next day. I called Republic at 7am the next day, Wednesday, to get a delivery window and guess what??? The rep told me that they wouldn't be delivering that day because they lost or hadn't completed my paperwork again. And again, no phone call or email from Republic to let me know about this. I had already made plans and hired labor to help me fill the dumpster. After many phone calls, many transfers and hours on hold with Republic, I was able to speak to a supervisor that told me they would deliver the dumpster that day after all. Around 10am I called to see what time the dumpster would be delivered and guess what again? Republic said they weren't going to be delivering the dumpster that day after all but that they would be delivering the next day. They were still going to charge the same amount for one less day and still collect it on Friday. I asked them to cancel the delivery and that I would figure something out later. Republic proceeded to charge my credit card 3 times and when I tried to dispute it they would not refund me. I had to dispute the charges through my bank and even then Republic disputed the charge-back. This is just an abbreviated version of what I had to go through with in dealing with Republic. I probably spent about 10 hours on the phone with them between ordering the dumpster and trying to get my money back. I also spent money on labor that I was unable to use. These people are either crooks or have no idea what they're doing. read more

I used to know rainbow as the company that picks up my trash every Wednesday. Now, I know them as the company that is majorly involved in their community and continuously gives back. I've been involved in local charities for about five years now, and Rainbow has always been involved on just about every project or event. Props to them. But besides giving back to their community, they also provide "environmental services" that I was totally unaware of. For instance, did you know you can bring things like your used motor oil, paint, or tv sets here for FREE hazardous waste recycling? Looking for compost? They have it! They also offer a program where you can go in and and get up to five used household, yard, or car care products - for FREE! Their website has tons of information - check it out! It's actually quite interesting and amazing that they are able to provide so many green friendly services. read more

Do me a favor. Stop killing off the rainbow brand. I'm talking to you REPUBLIC EXECUTIVES. Rainbow ESV is an icon of HB, and by rebranding everything to REPUBLIC is slowly destroying the history of HB and what HB residents stand for. read more

These guys absolutely suck. We WERE a commercial customer. They would pick up and dump about 33 percent of the time they were supposed to. It was a joke. The service in all aspects was horrible. No options for very light use Furthermore they fact they are the only option adds insult to injury. No competition means no reason to care about doing the job you are paid to do. You literally have no other choice. Luckily we have a location in a neighboring city as well and have cancelled Rainbow. Taking our trash to a neighboring city is better than giving this rip-off another cent. read more

Excellent customer service. I needed an appliance pickup and the gentleman on the phone scheduled my pickup prompt, sufficient and it was free. Other places wanted to charge me over $100 for pickup. I didn't expect to pay nothing, but hey I'll take it. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience based on the other companies I had contacted. Thank you for making it so easy! read more

According to the City of Huntington Beach trash service website, "Trash Pickup - Special Collection / Large Items Rainbow Environmental Services offers a special "10/4" collection program. This means four times a year, you can have up to 10 items picked up free of charge. An item is considered to be anything from an extra bag of trash that does not fit in your cart to a large piece of furniture, or household appliance." After renting a U-Haul van to pick-up a new sofa on Saturday, we wanted to dispose of the old sofa so I called Rainbow to see if I could just drop off the old sofa rather than request a pick-up. We did not want to leave the sofa out of the curb for two days. To our surprise when we got to the facility, we had to pay $20 to drop off the sofa, although it would have been totally free if I had call them and ask them to pick it up. Does this made sense to you??? Are we being punished for doing someone's job??? read more

A little backwards. To get a bin delivered you have to actually go to Rainbow and pay with cash or check. A little behind the times. $70 for a Fri drop off and Mon pick up. Its pretty painless to set up. Except having to actually go there. read more

There is a really amazing route supervisor at rainbow, I believe his name is Cesar. He is so awesome and always goes above and beyond for his customers. If there is ever a problem with our service or we need a special bin or pick up, I ask for Cesar. He always has great suggestions and provides the best service. (Not bad looking either)!! Please avoid at all cost, terrible customer service, they do not give you any direction on pricing or are they willing to transfer you to the actual location of the dump site to check. Please take into consideration all the negative reviews, they are not wrong. Look somewhere else! read more

Every time I call this company someone answers immediately and are always friendly and helpful. I use all my extra trash pick ups per year and have never had a problem getting them to come right out and take everything I put out for them. I have also had to go to the dump and had no problems there as well. read more

What a shame.... From 5 stars when it was Rainbow to - if I could - NEGATIVE stars. You dial a local 714# and you get routed to one of 3 call centers - the closest of which to OC is Pheonix, although, I was speaking to someone in Indianapolis. From start to finish, on the FIRST call, I was on the phone for 57 minutes in order to request a 3-yard, open top, yellow bin delivery. This used to take 3 minutes and you could get it delivered next day. Initially, I was told by the first Rep that it would take "anywhere from 5-7 days" - although the rep I had spoken with previously said that it could be delivered next day - if I called prior to 3:00 PM my time... As such, I asked to be transferred to a Manager. The process is such that the Rep needs to get APPROVAL from a Manager in order to transfer you to a manager. They SameTime the manager and wait for him/her to respond. I learned all about Garlandin the 20 minutes that it took for the manager to respond to him. Then I waited another 5 to be connected with the manager - who also pleasant - quickly realized that I wasn't looking for new trash bins (huh?) but the open top container. So - first rep, although very kind and personable, was confused. So - now Susie - the manager - whom I have finally been connected with tells me she's got it all sorted out - but has to transfer me to someone else - a "consultant" who can get that taken care of for me. She assures me that she will make sure that the next person is up to speed on what I need. I wait another 7 minutes, and am finally connected to TK - who is ALSO very kind and personable. Susie passes me off to TK by saying that she's explained to him what I need, and he will be able to better assist me... So - great! Until - however, TK says, "ok - so how can I help you today". Sigh... SO - we start from the top. AND, 53 minutes later, as TK is working his way through the software - I give him my credit card, and tell him that I have to jump off of the phone, as I had a conference call (that I was leading) that was about to start... He graciously says he will complete the process and send me an email... I thank him and hang up... 2+ hours later, I go online - no email... UGH! So, now- I'm BACK on the phone with yet another Rep - and while there is a pending draft in my checking account - there is nothing in my file that says a bin is showing up tomorrow. SHOOT ME NOW. Again - another wonderful Rep - and another 11 minutes... 2 calls and 1 hour and 8 minutes later - and let's hope I get a bin tomorrow. Republic should be ashamed... Their systems/processes/training of their Reps is disgraceful. *UPDATE: So, it's now 10:46 am - I have workers - and no bin... and after yet ANOTHER call, to another - this time not so personable Rep - who "escalated my matter to operations" - and informed me they have no way of telling me when my bin will arrive. I took the day off of work to knock out this project - and the only thing I want to knock out now is Republic. read more

So I went here the other day, prices have gone up. They charged you if you dump anything large. They charge distruction fee of $50 in addition to your dumping charge. First they charge you a deposit. Then they send you somewhere else to dump your load. Nobody knows where to tell you to go. They are so on organized. Then a little short man who is directing traffic at the dumpsite is grabbing his balls and dick the whole time making you completely uncomfortable. Cannot speak any English. When you tell him to speak English he just looks at you like you're the idiot. This place charge you just to pull onto the premises. It's ridiculous. It needs to be other dumps around because this place is just outrageous. read more

I have used different services provided by Rainbow over the last few months, and every time it was quick and easy. Prices might be a little high, but everything has always gone very smooth. The receptionist is very professional, and has good advice. The staff at the hazardous and regular waste drop off is great. read more

I have been here 3-4 times to drop hazardous waste and found them to be friendly and professional every time. I didn't even have to get out of my car, the employees in hazmat suits opened up my hatch and removed everything for me. Awesome! read more

It took me 39 minutes to place a one time order for a 3 yard residential dumpster. Four minutes of that was 'on hold time', so for 35 minutes I was actually on the phone with the customer service representative trying to get it done. Although she was polite and really tried to help, she clearly had NOT been trained on their products or their software. They have a cumbersome process to begin with and today it was poorly executed by an under-equipped representative. Before Rainbow became part of Republic, ordering a dumpster would literally take about 3 minutes. I'm NOT impressed with the new owners. read more

This is a total rip off. Changed their pricing in April. Over DOUBLE the amount for basic waste. Wonder why the garbage and litter around the city has turned to crap? Been trying to get in touch with these folks for two days now. They do not pick up the telephone. Spent an hour on hold waiting for their next "customer resource representative" twice but they've never picked up. WTF. I need a dumpster damnit. Does no one actually work there? Rainbow would pick up immediately!! Seems like if they pick up $5M tons of recycling every year they should have enough money to hire another "customer resource representative." Ok, so I finally got someone to help me after 67 minutes. They transferred me to a scheduler which took another 40 minutes to answer. Cost me $82 and they can't deliver it until Friday. I called looking to rent a trash bin. The operator answered "Republic Services". I said I was looking to rent a bin from Rainbow Services. I was not aware of the name change and the operator just kept repeating that this was Republic Services. I said ok and hung up. All they had to do was explain the name change and I would have rented a bin. Was that too hard? I'm going elsewhere now. read more

I'm thoroughly disgusted they have decided to tear down the Historic Wintersburg site. This type of greed make me sick and lack of consideration for the community to try to preserve the site and work with the city to make it a community center or park is very upsetting!!! I had an old Salamander heater that we didn't want anymore. Tried to sell it, couldn't get rid of it. Took it to the hazardous materials for Huntington Beach on Nichols (I think they are Republic now, not Rainbow) and first they said I would need to drain the kerosene from it before they would take it, but the guys were so nice, they said they would take it anyway and drained it for me! Alex and Raymond, you're the best! I've dropped off stuff several times here, and they are always nice, very respectful, and super helpful! read more

I sure hope the city of HB gets rid of Rainbow. Last week I called and ordered their yellow dumpster and it took about 30 min to put the order through. Latter that day I called to order a second dumpster and that took another 30 min. I asked to talk to the supervisor to complain about the time it takes to process an order. I was on hold for 15 min when the person said that the supervisors were so busy, they would have to call me back later in the day. They never called back!!! Today I called back to talk to a supervisor, and it took 16 min for a live person to answer the phone. By the time I had talked to the supervisor, it was 31 min to the end. I would like to give this company a review of 1 star and if I could I would not give them anything due to their dishonesty and malpractice with their employees. Rainbow Disposal, as many of us know it, has been highly admired for it's employee ownership and green practices. But what many of us don't know is that in the past 6 years Rainbow's Board of Directors have let their greed influence them and taken their dishonesty to another level. Many of us don't realize that it is the labor force that makes companies like these succeed better yet make them reach their financial goals. My father has been an employee for over 20 years at Rainbow Disposal, more than 20 years of dedication and hopes of one day accomplishing his American Dream. An America Dream that all of us have different definitional values. A hard working individual who gives it his 110% percent to all his assignments, influential to his family and honest man to his superiors. All these years my dad had dedicated his life to this job, missing family events to meet labor quotas set for him while also making us aware than sooner than later his retirement would pay off more than what we expected. Many of us might careless what employees at Rainbow Disposal have or what type of lives they live, but we have to be conscious that even this disposal service is a service provided by a labor force consisting of employees who have families just like you and I. After years of hopes and dreams they all have been crushed by lies within individuals who have no relation in regards to what hard work consists of. A Board of Directors who decided to steal their employees retirement plans, plans that they have worked hard for over periods of time, not just brief moments of their lives. My father now is walking on eggshells unsure of what will take place in the next 3 years as he reaches his retirement age. Granted he is not solely depending on his job, just like any other patriotic American, he has invested in what this country can provide, real estate and education for his daughter and in some of the financial institutions, that even now, we don't know to trust. I just want to expose Rainbow's real organizational practices to all those who are not aware and for those who believe in honest businesses, to think twice when making their donations or buying services from this place. To many of those who read past my review thank you, I, along with all of the Rainbow Employees who await patiently for an undetermined outcome for giving us some time to really understand the business. read more

Every time I call this company for an extra trash pickup or anything for that matter they never show up. Last week I called for new trash cans because my lids were falling off. They gave me a day that they would be out and never showed up as usual. I really believe they take your request and never implement hoping you will just go away. Poor way to do business. read more

I ordered a dumpster and then cancelled the dumpster the same day since there was a miscommunication with me and the contractor. They charged my card $500 and here it is 2 weeks later and still have not received my refund which was promised to be in my account yesterday! My son is obsessed with garbage trucks. After taking 3 individual tours, he wanted his preschool classmates to go as well. Teresa was so accommodating and I was able to schedule 4 different tours for his class (since they can only accommodate a total of 10 people on each tour). Horrible for business services. Our dumpster is behind a gate. We provided them with a gate code for access. If a different driver takes the route, they don't pick up trash because they don't have the code. This was happening in the beginning. It took a few calls for them to figure out that they have to relay gate code info to new drivers. They only do 1 of our 2 pick ups a week sometimes. It's so inconvenient to call and be placed on hold forever to find out why they're skipping our second trash pick up. The driver claims they did do the pick up, but obviously that's not the case if our dumpster is still full. Office staff is polite. Drivers are lazy and unprofessional. read more

It is difficult to actually give a review of this company. I live in a condominium and do not know when they pick up the refuse. I do have a problem when they send a mailer to me in Spanish. I find it wasteful and presumptuous that I am Hispanic and read Spanish. When I called to arrange for a couple of dumpsters to do some home refurbishing I contacted Rainbow Disposal/now called republic. While speaking with the girl I was reading the Yelps and told her I was a little nervous about all the negative reviews they had. Given where I live I figured I didn't have much choice. The dumpsters were extremely reasonable, dropped off when they said they would be and picked up the day after I called to have them picked up. I'm not sure why all the negative comments but I'm seriously stunned. From talking to the girl in the office who set it up to getting them picked up they were nothing but professional and I would gladly recommend them any time. I even called and asked if they could pick up a ping pong table when they picked up the dumpsters and when I got home my driveway was empty. I was thrilled!!!! It was far less reasonable to have the dumpster bins than to actually go to the dump. This made our work so much easier. I'd give them a 10 stars but it only goes up to 5. I told the girl if I had a good experience I'd Yelp them and here I am but a few weeks late. People tend to write letters when something goes wrong but not so much when things go right because they are supposed to go right. It would be nice if more people took the time to comment when a job is done right. read more

Natasha was very professional, nice and was helpful in submitting my pickup request by phone. I can not say enough great things about the employees of Rainbow Disposal. My son has severe autism and his obsession of going on 3 years is all things Rainbow Disposal. Everything around our house revolves around all things trash and trash truck related. All of the trash men are amazing to Lucky and never bitch even though we are constantly video taping them (he loves to watch the videos). They always have a smile and a wave for him and us. Recently the people of Rainbow Disposal were kind enough to take Lucky on a private tour of the dump and let him check out a few trash trucks up close and personal. Our wonderful tour guide Rochelle Groh couldn't have been more helpful and nice. Lucky has not stopped talking about his visit ever since. Thank you Rainbow! read more
