If I could give no stars I would, I called and set for a pick up and payed the $25.00 they charge and they never came to pick up my item. It's horrible for them to take your money and not pick up the item like they said they would also they even give you a day and times they would be here and they still can't do their job. I've been to city dumps before and they always made me eager to leave, but I was really impressed by this place. From almost no odors to extra cheap CNG for my car to caring about the 3 schools surrounding them, Rainbow was a surprise. The curtail pests with trained hawks that do double-duty as pest control at the schools, they offer free plant food, pesticides, cleaners, etc. to keep them from the environment, and most of all, they are a huge operation that really isn't noticed. Kudos, and good job, people! read more

So very disappointed in this company. They have allowed historic Wintersberg to deteriorate. The little red house just had its front porch fall off. They were offered help with maintaining this at no cost yet they have chosen to let it fall apart. If you want goodwill with H.B. then treat this area with respect. read more

first let me preface this. I am a 70 year old man that carried a steel bathtub downstairs down stairs out the front door and to the curb by myself. Called for pickup with Rainbow. Thought we were entitled to one large pickup per year but that is not correct. Found out that if the item weighs more than 50 pounds a guy in his 20's can't pick it up. So now I'm stuck with it. Ordered a bin and was told it would be delivered between 8-12. It arrived at 330 after several calls for updated times which were not returned. Had to let workers helping me go-not going to pay them to sit around waiting. Very disappointed. read more

Republic is absolutely awful! Rainbows fast customer service was awesome. Now? They are horrible! 25 min to request a bin for trash. Then to be told that it takes 3 business days to get one out and with it being the holiday it wont be delivered until Tue! Told them to cancel the order. I will drive it myself! read more

Very bad company with no customer service when it counts. More than willing to instantly charge you money before delivery, but not willing to deliver when promised. I ordered a bin for delivery on Saturday morning. They charged my credit card right away. On Saturday, they didn't show up by 11:00 as originally promised, so I called. Talked with 3 different agents without getting anywhere. "The ordering agent didn't enter a piece of information properly and it was rejected back to her on Thursday". Now, the original application is still in the originating agent's hands to fix, presumably on Monday. Their first offer was to deliver for use on Tues thru Thurs. What a farce of an offer. I am not home to use it then (oh yeah, I work, that's how I can pay for Republic's mediocre service). They got the message, after telling them twice, and offered the only work-around they were willing to offer - deliver next Saturday. Finally got to their "Customer Service" representative who was unwilling to do anything else but reschedule. She chose to not do anything, hiding behind her Organization. Republic bought out my local trash hauler, Rainbow Disposal, a few years ago. They have done nothing except raise rates and dump fees while letting Customer Service go on the trash heap. Not a good organization, top to bottom. Managers and supervisors aren't even available during the hours they do business. How would a World Class Customer Service company work? I would have my dumpster today and they would work out the details on their end on their next "convenient" business day. At World Class organizations, the agents in contact with the Customers have latitude to provide proper Customer Service and fulfill promises made. This organization isn't World Class. Not even third class. No class. read more

Ok, I think it's kind of weird that I am giving a trash/hazardous waste/recycling place 5 stars, but this place absolutely fascinates me! I don't spend too much time thinking about household hazardous waste, but a recent slab leak leading to a remodel and repainting left me with stuff to dispose of properly. God knows I have been remiss in the past and tossed hazardous stuff into the trash can, but no more! This a huge facility and they do so much more than pickup your curbside trash. I went to Gate 6: Household hazardous material disposal. I only had 2 cans of paint to drop off, but they take so much more here: batteries, electronics--everything you shouldn't throw in the trash at home. Do something good for the environment and find something to drop off here just so you can see the place! Lots of huge bins full of old TVs, pallets of old paint cans, guys in hazmat suits! Best of all, you don't even get out of your car. Actually, because of all the hazardous waste you aren't allowed out of your car, but I'm going to consider it first class curbside service! Friendly, efficient staff--and they'll even give you a recycle bucket for your old batteries, just bring it back when it's full. Rainbow was SOOOO much better. Today took way too long to get through on phone, but its just a call center. They weren't sure about the phone number to where I can order/pick up materials like mulch & rocks, weren't even sure if they do that. When it was Rainbow had a huge section of recycled material. The direct phone numbers don't work, but the call center did warn me they might not. Going to Costa Mesa, Larry's Building supplies instead. read more

Amazing to learn that all the "stuff" we burn through can actually be re-purposed and sold. Customer service could not be worse. Have tried multiple times to arrange for large yard waste pick-up with no success. Website is a joke; they will not e-mail you back. Had been on hold today for 1 1/2 hours to speak to a representative. Finally spoke with someone, who told me she could not help me. Her suggestions were ridiculous (If I could put it in my green bin wouldn't I have already done so!) and that she'd have to transfer me to another rep with a "2-3 minute wait." After another 30 minutes on hold, I've given up again. I hate the monopoly they have in Huntington Beach. Their service is truly awful. read more

A year ago I would give this place 5 stars. However now that Rainbow is owned by Republic Services, the dump here is such a rip off. There is now a minimum fee of $80 just to dump here! The old price was $20-35$. I would give negative stars here if possible. read more

I called to schedule a pickup of an old barbeque grill and a heavy umbrella base. I can't believe how personable and efficient the person who I talked to on the phone was. He scheduled a pickup within a few days and asked if there was anything else he could help me with. I see lots of negative reviews but the service they provided to me was excellent. read more

Great tour!!! They remembered everyone's name in our group!! I was surprised at how much the facility did not smell as bad as I thought it was going too. It is nice to know that all of our trash is processed to help keep our community and enivornment clean. read more

When you provide garbage service to EVERY home in a city, how is it that you cannot figure out how to pick up the trash at EVERY home? When I call, it rings through to voicemail. Nobody comes out to pick up the missed can. Nobody returns the call. I do pay for weekly service, but don't receive it consistently. read more

I paid for a "rent-a-bin" for 3 days. I asked to extend it to Saturday . They said no problem. They took my payment info and thanked me. At 7:30am Saturday morning they collected the rent-a-bin. I called to advise Rainbow that I had pre paid to have the rent-a-bin for Saturday . The Rainbow agent I spoke with advised me that they can pick up the rent-a-bin anytime between 7:30am and 4pm. Unfortunately, I was the first. Obviously I was never advised of this or I would not paid an for an extra day just to have the rent-a-bin sit in my yard overnight and removed at day break . The agent advised me that this was a complaint they get regularly. She said she will send another memo to management to make sure customers are advised of policy. Do you know how much money they make by keeping customers misinformed? Things won't change. The point of my post is to keep customers informed . read more

So far, since Rainbow has changed owners to what is now Republic, the services on their recycle bin has been very poor. It's has been maybe 4 months and they are supposed to pick up every Wednesday afternoon. They have missed at least 8 to 10 pick ups and we've had to call them every time they miss, sometimes more than once to get results. They say they are monitoring it, but they are monitoring how many times they miss picking up our recycle and still charging us for a weekly pickup. Unfortunately for us, we really don't have a choice, so we are stuck with poor service. read more

After a 5 day family reunion, wedding and holiday event we called for our bulk trash pick up request that you can have 4x a year in HB. Upon a Tuesday morning call the scheduler could only set it up 4 days later due to holiday. Ok so trash sits in drive way with criters and homeless folks going thru it all week. Smell and mess ongoing. Come Friday 10am call to double check pick up we are told on the schedule. By 3pm no pick up and another call to lead. Again on schedule before end of day. By 5:30pm no pick up and call to supervisor not able to get to it today but tomorrow. Well its Saturday and 2 calls to call center, 3 to supervisor, 2 to dispatch by 1:30 no pick up. Left messages and of course closed now and no follow up call. The worst customer service ever! Finally driver puck up at 4pm and if we had not heard truck and calles out and whistled to driver he would of kept going... Could not believe it. Passenger employee acted surprised items were not picked up on Friday with regular pick up and that it had been there all week. Calling HB public works Monday. If you ever have to deal with this company stay on them because information will change and no results! Even in management. Poor buisness operations and customer service! read more

I have to say the staff is rude rude rude. The previous tenants rented a dumpster that was delivered on friday suppose to be picked up Monday. Nope 5 days later I called and asked when they would pick it up, they said they would the next day sat. I told them this was not rented by me and other people had been putting stuff in there, I could not control that. They did not pick up as promised. I called a second time. Ok someone will pick it up today. They picked up the dumpter all right but since it had been left there for 8 days longer than expected people put stuff in it and it was no longer level full like the need. They took the over flow out and just left it on the front yard, Not even my stuff and they just left it there. My husband was very upset and called to explain that was not acceptable and the rude lady just kept cutting him off asking what she could help him with. He said well if you let me finish I will tell you, you need to have someone come back and pick up this mess they left. She brushed him off and was like is there anything else I can help you with. If this wasn't the only dumpster rental in HB I would never use them again. None of this was our fault and to be treated so poorly is not cool at all!!! read more
