I don't know what happened to this Dairy Queen but after the previous owner sold it, it has been nothing but downhill. The kids that work there are not trained properly. They have no idea how to make blizzards correctly they leave out ingredients they don't put enough fillings in. They don't add the syrup to ask for I drive past this Dairy Queen to get to the Dairy Queen in Wood Dale because of how bad this Dairy Queen is. read more

Only one review for the best DQ in the burbs!?!?! This is crazy talk! I have worked less than two minutes away from this location for almost eleven years. They are closed over the winter months, but I am okay with that because it just makes me appreciate them more. If memory serves me correctly, this was a cash only establishment for many years. I am pleased to report that they take my debit card without question for any amount. My Blizzard Habit thanks you, DQ! Speaking of which, let me tell you about a favorite or two. Currently, there is a Nutter Butter Blizzard available. I tried this earlier this month and it is certainly worth mentioning. Vanilla soft serve mixed with Nutter Butter cookies and some peanut butter sauce. YUM! I thought it would be boring, but I was wrong. It is very, very tasty. I might even considering calling the flavors "in depth". Next on my list of favorites is an Oreo Earthquake sundae (I don't think I have the name quite right, but I hope you'll forgive me). It's vanilla soft serve, a brownie, Oreo cookie pieces, marshmallow topping and whipped cream. I would consider sharing this taste treat. Finally, there is a Buster Bar. I pick up a box of these every so often to share with my co-workers. They are really good! Vanilla ice cream on a stick with fudge, caramel and Spanish peanuts. Go visit the friendly staff on Devon Avenue! You'll figure out who the owner is pretty easily. He's the pleasant guy, cracking jokes and making this DQ seem like a nice place to work. read more

This is the best Dairy Queen in the area. Just a FYI: they close in the winter and usually open around May. It has a "family-run" type feel to it. It's a small shop but the quality is always great and the staff is friendly (to me it's a notch above other Dairy Queen's in the area). It's usually somewhat busy, a testament to the quality. I don't think they serve the non-ice cream items at this location (like chicken and hot dogs), which is another plus for me, just focus on the ice cream. read more

The service is friendly and the store is well air conditioned on hot days. Also, their strawberry sauce uses fresh, half strawberries. They are the best ones I've had at any of the 3 DQs I've been to in recent memory, and they're certainly better than any strawberries we ever had at my DQ when I worked at one for the summer back in the late 90s. They have two uncovered picnic tables out front if you want to sit but no indoor seating. Keep in mind that they usually close for the winter. read more

This is a classic DQ and reminds me of the one I grew up with in Wilmette. The staff is all young local kids that do a great job. The veterans support the newbies and it's just a great atmosphere. I do wish they were open year round but it just makes the summer that much better! They are very open to making things your way (my pregnant wife loved to have her add ons and make her twists to each order and they obliged.) We came to this location 40 minutes from our house to have a enjoyable treat after a long days work. I got here at 9:10pm and the 2 young boys working decided to close early right when we walked up to the door. They gave us a thumbs down and started laughing. I am giving it 2 stars for the product and the dark haired girl in the black headband. They are the only ones that deserve stars . 2 registers. One with 3 girls working and one with one girl working. Guess which line I picked? I watched people who came in after me leave well before me. They don't get it because they are kids and not an adult in sight. Rude rude manager. I asked for chocolate sprinkles and he tried giving me color. I told him I wanted chocolate and don't like the color and he tried saying he didn't have any. I told him it was in the back. He made a smart comment which was unprofessional and came back and told me his parents use them for cakes. I said he should have it available as it's a common topping. He mentioned three stores didn't have it. He was being a smart a^*. So I told him the DQs that offer them. When we walked out the door my fiancé said he was a smart a**. I usually don't leave reviews on places but I ordered a bunch of food for all the guys at the shop I work at, and there was a miscommunication and I was a burger short when I got back to my shop, so I called and the burger didn't get put on the ticket so the man I was talking to on the phone(owner/manager) got directions to our shop and brought the burger down himself!!! I tried to give him money for the burger and he wouldn't accept it. he just said he appreciated our business. I dont know about anyone else but that has never happened to anyone i know, the food is great and if we are ever in the mood for some fast food we are going to go there. This is a local DQ that is only open in the summer months. The staff seem to be mostly high school and college students. The owner obviously does an excellent job of training everyone because even with the high volume from the sports fields they keep everything running very smoothly. Best Dairy Queen in the Chicagoland area! Although they're closed for the winter months, it just makes spring seem that much sweeter when the DQ doors re-open. I wait all year for Elk Grove DQ's Pumpkin Pie Blizzard which is much different (and far better) then the other DQ locations. I was not happy to see that French silk blizzard is no longer on the menu. That being said Diamond manager talked me into the salted caramel truffle. I asked what was the truffle made of she told me it was chocolate filled with caramel pieces. I said ok. I got it went out to my car car and started driving taking a bite I found a boat load of toffee pieces I thought for sure she made me the wrong one. But how could she I was the only person and she explained what was in it. I initially tried to enjoy it since I do not not like to complain unless I have a reason. But three blocks down the road and few bites I could not handle the toffee sticking to my teeth. So I turned around. I asked politely what was in it. She told me everything and this time added the prailiens which is you guessed it toffee pieces. I asked if they could make me something different since they did not tel me what was in it when I asked. And diamond the manager said that she could not and that I had to buy a new one. I think a manger always has the ability to do something. It is sad that she refused. I turned and threw my dessert in the trash full minus 3 bites. As I walked out said cheerfully have a nice day. I am giving her the benefit of the doubt. Where did customer service go. I wrote a comment in the website but no response.
