    Tuna Lover

Eating at Poke Hale was a memorable experience. When you first walk in, it doesn't look like it would be anything special. It is very spare and not many decorations. You walk up to the counter and can either order from their kiosk, or order at the counter. They have a nice menu with lots of options. We ordered items suggestions on their regular menu - we chose not to Build our own bowl. My friend ordered the vegetarian bowl and I had the tuna lovers bowl. I need to say how wonderful the two women behind the counter were. Neither of us have had Poke much and don't really know what we like yet. They took the time to explain everything, suggested some options, and were generally very pleasant. Once you order, you sit and they deliver the food to you. For the price, the portion sizes are huge. I thought the quality of the tuna was very good - not outstanding but good enough to truly enjoy. I had mine with sushi rice and added avocado. They came by the table to let me know that some of the tuna was spicy, which I like. So, she brought some more of the spicy sauce and drizzled more over the meal. Also, the presentation was really very nice. Considering I'm not an expert at Poke, and I've only had it a few times, this was by far the best I've had. I do recommend Poke Hale if you are in the area.

I love this place. It's always fast and efficient, and honestly my go-to poke spot because everything tastes so fresh and way more flavorful than other places. One time I asked for no seaweed, and the woman working was so sweet she suggested edamame instead, which I loved. Little things like that make such a difference. So good every time!

Staff is always very friendly and attentive. I generally order pickup, and my food is always made right on time. The interior is pretty bare, but clean and spacious. Food is always well prepared and serving sizes are generous. Shrimp dumplings are a little bland, but the poke bowls are great! Would recommend!

    Hawaii classic was amazing

First time, service was good! They let me try some sauces since it was my first time. Food tastes delicious

I was admittedly a little apprehensive about this place, but when we saw the positive reviews we figured it was worth a shot. Being gluten free and pescatarian, I wanted to be sure I could safely eat here and the staff was awesome. They walked me through my options and were very knowledgeable about my restrictions. I felt totally safe placing my order, which was prepared quickly. We ordered for take out and ate at home. It was seriously so good. The food felt fresh, flavorful and filling, but left me wanting more because it was so good! My husband joked that he wanted to cancel our dinner plans the next night so we could get this again. We will definitely be back and this will become a frequent stop in our take out rotation! If you're looking to eat there, there's plenty of seating indoor and out. The restaurant is clean, spacious and open.

Hubby has been raving about this place for a long time now. We had some time before an engagement and we decided to grab a quick bite before. I'm not a big seafood eater so I was somewhat skeptical but I was ultimately impressed and glad I tried it. I tried the shrimp bowl. Plenty of shrimp in the bowl. I wish they had given more tomatoes but I can give better directions next time. I tried whatever sauce Tony ordered for me; he said they also have a garlic sauce which I'd like to try next time. I wish they had meals that included a drink (next time I will be sure to get a drink). Overall, two thumbs up. It probably won't be my GO TO due to the price, but overall it was good. I'm glad I tried it.

Poke Hale is my go-to for everything poke. They also have fire sushi burritos and a great selection of appetizers and entrees to the point that I consider Poke Hale an actual restaurant, not just a quick stop. The Tonkatsu is incredible, the Takoyaki is a must have, and if your not into fish, this is the only place I've had a poke bowl that offers cooked chicken. The portions are huge, the service is friendly and amazing and the food is always fresh. What more can you ask for?

Even if we don't consider its rarity, Da Local Boy is a winner in every category. The prices are very fair for the enormous portion sizes, the decor is fun and appropriate, the service is friendly, and food is phenomenal both in flavors and textures. The only possible criticisms are that the space is a bit small for how popular this spot gets, and the parking in the area can be a bit limited around popular meal times. The food here shines, making it worth a special trip -- both again for the rarity but also the quality. For me, the poke nachos are a must order item, just the perfect mix of large chunks of tuna with super crispy wontons, fresh avocado, and a good helping of sauce. Amongst friends, we've agreed that this is a must order item. The huli huli chicken is also unreal in flavor and texture. Besides being marinated and sauced well, the chicken is melt in your mouth tender while simultaneously having a delicious crisp skin. Think brick chicken, but with more flavor and a much better price. The rice and macaroni salad that accompany this are also well done -- and feel more like a core part of the meal rather than an afterthought. The grilled pork is pretty good as well, though I kind of wish it wasn't sliced as thin, as certain pieces felt a bit dry. The spam musubi with a light touch of furikake also provided a flavorful, fun dish to accompany the other delicious items I tried. Overall, delicious and consistently surprises me with the quality of the execution and bold flavor combinations. This is on my top places to visit in the area and has never disappointed.

The vibe is also awesome with a great reggae playlist and welcoming staff. Literally every single bite was so good but my favorites had to be the short ribs, chicken katsu, and poke. This was a spur-of-the-moment choice but ended up being very fun for drinks and dinner!…read more I LOVE tiki bars and my husband noticed this one in the area near where we happened to be on Google maps, so off we went! We had about a 15 minute wait for a table but it gave us time to peruse the menu in the car. They offer many classic tiki cocktails, a page full of seasonal drinks, a page of "Designated Driver" mocktails (nice to have an option for something other than just a Shirley Temple!), Polynesian appetizers and entrees, and then Lola's Pizza. For drinks, I got the seasonal Gingerbread Painkiller and my husband got a Green Flash mocktail. (Pro tip on the seasonal drinks: check the regular cocktail menu to see how many skull and crossbones are listed under the regular version of your drink, if applicable, to see if it's a super strong one!) Mine was creamy and spicy but quite powerful. Props to our waitress, Makayla, who checked if anyone at the table was epileptic, because normally the "flash" part of my husband's drink is a strobing LED ice cube; I actually am photosensitive, so it came in the drink in non-strobe mode and just glowed an alien green. She said this was the first time it had actually paid off to ask, but I'm glad she did! The food was tasty: I ordered rumaki, an old-school appetizer of bacon-wrapped water chestnuts that you don't see very often these days, and he got loaded fries. We also got a small Lola's Pizza, which was very good, with a crisp but also chewy crust. The atmosphere here is pure tiki, with a fountain, swag lamps, bamboo, and Hawaiian-influenced Christmas music playing for the season. Lots of big groups here; everyone seemed to be having as good a time as we were! What a laid-back gem in Arlington Heights! We'll be back. Mahalo!
