I recently took a day trip to Benecia to visit some friends. I had just been to the wonderful, Double Rainbow cafe down the hill, and I was told that the owners also had a Froyo place in town. Naturally, we had to check it out. Upon entering, you are greeted by a colorful environment. Just like their other business in town the owners are inspiring people to make toy donations to help families and kids in need. This is a place with a lot of heart for their community. The frozen yogurt itself is very good and the options for toppings is excellent! Almost everything you can imagine topping your FroYo with. I went for seasonal flavors (pumpkin spice), but I sampled several other flavors too. The owners were there that day and I had some lovely conversation with them! Like most Froyo places, it's a little pricey, but still a very cool spot here in Benicia. We were searching for an alternate choice, as the only Froyo place in Vallejo by Target never looks open and always appears on the verge of going out of business. This shop here in Benicia is owned by the same people who own & run the Double Rainbow ice cream shop down on 1st. St. Froyo here at Rainbow runs .84 cents an ounce. They also have pint sized containers for $15. They had around 8 or 9 flavors ready to go, including my standby favorite Dole Whip Pineapple. I sampled the Dulce de Leche for the first time and loved that also. If you want a sample, the proper way here is to ask any of the employees, who will give you a small dollop served in a mini-condiment cup. Good deal of fresh & sweet topping varieties. Our two modestly-sized cups made a $20 bill go 'poof.' So, it's notably more expensive for Froyo here than ice cream is just about anywhere else, ounce for ounce by comparison. Didn't deter anyone though, as the store was bustling, lol. Everyone loves Froyo it seems. Consider signing up for their unadvertised/unmentioned rewards program, entering your phone number at the point-of-sale terminal to auto-enroll when paying. You'll earn a point for every dollar spent, and once you hit 80 pts. (or $80 basically) you get an $8 off coupon at current redemption terms. Cool spot for that occasional Froyo splurge on a hot day, if not a little costly as an everyday indulgence. read more

This is the perfect place to bring the kids after a long day at school. I love the space. Seating inside and outside. Staff are friendly like always. There are eight flavors to pick from. My son picked Rasberry and put marshmellows on top! Plenty of toppings to pick from. This place is a #pregnant woman's dream! They donate to local children. It is very important we keep them busy this #Summer. The busier we keep them, the more they give back! Parking is a little crazy, be patient we looking for a spot. I only gave it four stars because they didn't have a flavor I wanted to try. read more

This busy froyo place is the best place to get some and get all the items you want to add to your dessert. I got two flavors and no toppings this time, but they have an amazing selection of toppings. I enjoyed the cute color scheme and also the fact that a portion of their sales are donated to local children's charities. The workers were efficient in restocking items as they continued getting customers coming in. The place was clean and ready for guests. I didn't know you can try the different flavors. Normally I really like this froyo spot. They have dole whip, which is a favorite of mine. As someone with celiac disease I have to be very careful about cross contact with gluten, so I'm always really happy to find so many gluten free frozen yogurt flavors. This place has a bunch. The toppings are buffet style, as is the case for all froyo places, so I have to be super careful and usually will request fresh fruit from the back if it hasn't been recently put out or there are crumbs. It's almost never an issue and I have had employees here go back and wash/retrieve a few blueberries or strawberries for me in the past. I always tip really kindly for the effort. Today was different. They were not busy and three girls were on staff. Kylie refused to wash a few berries so I could have toppings on my frozen yogurt or send one of the others to take care of it. All three were mostly just standing around talking. I felt very uncared for as a customer. Food allergies are not a customer's fault and it is absolutely not too much to ask for employees to make reasonable accommodation. Especially if they have the staffing and ability. It would have been different if it was just one person working and there was a line. It is already so hard and sometimes embarrassing to advocate for myself with a severe gluten sensitivity, but I deserve to be able to eat out safely and to get to enjoy treat just as much as anyone else. I will not be returning when the aforementioned employee is on duty, but I have found my previous visits to be wonderful, so will probably return at some point when someone else is working. If you have any kind of allergy, be sure to speak up for yourself here and don't be afraid to just walk away when this staff doesn't listen. read more

There's not many options for froyo flavors but the toppings were very versatile and AMAZING. My only regret was not trying more of the toppings. The staff were mostly older teens and they were all very nice and helpful and they were always offering samples. I also came fifteen minutes before closing and there was a couple other people there but not crowded and the staff stayed upbeat and ready dispite that they're be locking up soon, you do t get service like this anymore. The store itself is very clean and well kept and looks about what you'd expect from a froyo place. Overall definitely one of the best froyo places I've been to and I'm very thrilled by it. read more

We've loved every experience we've had at Rainbow Froyo! The staff are very friendly and always ready to give a sample. There's often new flavors but they always have the regular flavors (chocolate/vanilla/tart) for us traditionalists. They have recently added more seating and outdoor benches which is super helpful. A sweet little self-serve froyo store where part of the proceeds go to charity. It's the shopping center just outside of downtown Benicia where you'll find it easy to get in and out with lots of parking. The number of froyo flavors are a bit limited, but to be honest it's all about the toppings. I hope they add more seating inside and out at some point. read more
