Yummy yogurt :)! This place was a cute find right next to the Cat Lounge in Martinez. The plaza is pretty generous with parking and there is a lot to do in the area, so it makes for a perfect dessert after the movies(across the street), shopping or just eating out. The inside is small but allows for small groups of 2-4. Not much seating inside though, but there are areas to sit outside as well. The employees are very welcoming and nice, they also maintain the cleanliness of the establishment quite well. The flavors are pretty food whatever you choose to go for! Not too sweet, and definitely still delicious. Lots of toppings to choose from too! More dry toppings though, so you won't find as many jellies, popping bobas, and fruits. Definitely more than you'd find at your typical frozen yogurt place. It can be quite pricey compared to most places, my 12oz cup was around $8-10. I visited this location on Friday, 7/25 and purchased a regular cup of original tart to-go. I stored it in the freezer and had a few spoonfuls later that evening. Immediately, I noticed an overpowering soapy taste, but I assumed it might just be the flavor profile and kept eating. Not long after, I began feeling extremely nauseous. Two days later, I went to discard the rest. When I ran water over the frozen yogurt to melt it down, it started foaming and released a strong chemical odor. It was immediately clear that some sort of cleaning agent had contaminated the yogurt. This is completely unacceptable and poses a serious health risk. There is no excuse for food to be served with potential chemical residue. I will not be returning, and I strongly urge management to investigate their cleaning protocols before someone else gets sick. read more

Used to like going to this place but for some reason that place always smells like someone just cleaned up a crime scene in there....its a mix of chemical cleaner smell and a bathroom after someone just took a big dump and tried to cover it up with way too much febreeze. The yogurt is pretty good here, there's not too many flavors though. It gets 4 stars because the inside smells of some sort of disinfectant so strongly that it makes everything in there stink. For example, the paper cups for the yogurt reek and I have to transfer the yogurt into a separate bowl in order to eat it. Super cute froyo shop in the Nob Hill shopping center! The place was empty when I got there but super clean. They had a pretty good selection of yogurt flavors (including dole whip!) and toppings. I went for gummy bears, strawberry popping boba, and snowcaps. They also had a LOT of sauces but that's not my style. I'm guessing this place gets busier as the weather gets warmer, but the one girl working had it handled. Will definitely come back for my froyo fix! read more

I decided to get some froyo from my favorite place in Martinez, and usually I am satisfied with the service they provide and it is always a delight to go there as I am a frequent customer but today I was taken a back and startled as the service I received from the "big fella " Trever, was anything but satisfactory. He was first of all rude as he grumbled to me when I walked in but then when I attempted to serve myself he made comments on what I was eating and the serving utensils were not provided as he was holding them for himself. I really want to write a good review but I find it to be a bad policy to disallow paying customers to use the restroom. I'm a mother traveling solo who brought 5 kids to have a treat, spent $$60 on fro-yo and then told I had to leave this establishment and walk three doors down to use the restroom. If you love Maui Tropical Plantation's Dole Whip, or even Disneyland's Dole Whip, then you'll love Ian's Yogurt! You'll have to find the location, as it doesn't stand out in the shopping center. When you open the door you'll smell a clean disinfectant scent, everything is tidy and clean. The place is small, and there's not too many choices in flavors, but they have an array of options for toppings. The one thing that is never missing is in my opinion the star attraction...Pineapple Dole Whip! When I find myself thinking of or missing Maui, I come here to transport myself there with a taste reminiscent of it. I love choosing toppings from their fresh fruit selection, and of course the strawberry boba. I would definitely recommend trying them, but be warned that once you do you'll find yourself coming back for more. read more

But if you think that is way too expensive then not only are you correct, but you should not go here. Sure, the frozen yogurt is decent, but it's no better than the next froyo place. Unfortunately, there's no alternatives in this area. Ian's is all you get. They don't even allow samples. My opinion is this place is WAY overpriced for frozen flavored milk. I'm always on the lookout for a new dessert spot to try out. If it has cookies and cakes, I got to try it out. If it got floats and ice cream, I got to try it out. If it got boba (yes, I think that can be a part of a dessert) and frozen yogurt, I got to try it out. The people I work for told me about this mom and pop "froyo" spot during work today. They said that it's different from the other more known chains of frozen yogurt places. I got rave reviews from them about how the flavors are great and change weekly, the toppings, and the service. Hmm, intriguing. I never go around the Martinez neck of the woods often. It wasn't hard finding this place, though, thanks to the power of GPS. The shop is tucked away into a nice little shopping and food area called Nob Hill. There's a Kinders by it, a CVS (or was it a Raley's,) a Chinese spot, a grill, a Subway, etc. Parking wasn't difficult. Sure, they were a lot of automobiles around, but it didn't take may more than three minutes to find a sport within a few seconds of walking to Ian's Yogurt. First thing I noticed is that they had only about eight flavors today: Dutch Chocolate, Cookies n Cream, Cotton Canday, Vanilla Bean, Peanut Butter, and others that I can't name at the top of my head. (Disappointed that there was no red velvet, but then again, I can't expect every frozen yogurt spot to have my favorite flavor of all time.) Second thing I noticed was the amount of toppings one could put on. There were loads of them. More than just the standard toppings that other chains had. Oh, this place had the regular stuff and then some. A lot of different candies, cereals, fruits, etc. My particular amazement was the amount of different syrups. White chocolate that is sugar free? Chocolate syrup, marshmallow syrup, peanut butter syrup. GET OUT OF TOWN. There was only one person I saw up front working. He was very patient with me. I needed to try all the flavors. I would ask for a sample of the cotton candy. He'd personally get me one. I'd ask for a sample of the peanut butter. Again, he'd get me one himself. The cotton candy was really, really sweet. The peanut butter wasn't too overpowering, but it was tasty. I decided to go with my other go to flavor (that isn't red velvet) cookies n cream and I also put on some Dutch chocolate. Toppings time! I put in some sugar worms, Fruity Pebbles, some yogurt pretzels, cookie dough, kiwi, sugar free white chocolate syrup, and sugar free marshmallow syrup. Ohmygoodnessitalltastedsogoodtogetherakenagieoawn. What a wonderful combination! The frozen yogurt was delightfully cold and the toppings weren't stale. The toppings were fresh and exquisite. The fruit wasn't frozen like it is in some Tutti Fruttis I've been in. Price was reasonable too. Paid about $4.50. (0.45 cents per ounce). Definitely my preferred frozen yogurt place so far. Yogurt is great. The place is always extremely clean. The owner can be a little on the harsh side to say the least, he is charging the customers for spoons if they are eating the yogurt at home and not there. He also charges ten cents for a tiny bag. The customer is already paying a premium price for the yogurt. Granted the yogurt is good, this is not the norm and that "Mom and Pop" welcome feeling is not there. 2 stars for two reasons. #1. After not having Ian's in a long time, I came back to try the ice cream and WOW is everything sweet. It's the type of sweet where you get kind of a bizarre film in the back of your throat and you're reaching for water. Not sure if the recipe has changed or... #2. The cashier was a very polite and lovely young girl who was ringing me up. It seems she forgot how to use Apple Pay and seemed a little fluster. Then I found out why... A man came up to her,, I'm assuming the owner, and finished the transaction. Yet, he didn't leave without being EXTREMELY condescending to the young girl working the cashier. He patronizingly read aloud the flyer on the back that read instructions about Apple Pay. To be honest: when you see the owner treat their staff in such a demeaning way, KNOWING that the young girl has virtually no voice in that scenario, it makes you feel like of disgusted.
