Cost: 5 stars. Food: 4 stars (easy with Choice Lunch or bring your own). Education: 5 stars. Uniform: 5 stars. Your kids learn things more advanced than their age/grade. We like the challenge. And it's not stressful if you don't let it be stressful. We had nannies, daycares, and looked at other schools. Rainbow gives you everything you need that makes you feel okay with opening your wallet for private. It's also soooooo easy to drop off and pick up multiple kids at one school with their wide age range from infant to 5th. YES YES YESSSSS. They used to provide lunch before the hardships of covid pandemic. It's missed a lot. But we run with what we got now. Having uniforms makes dressing the kids soooo easy. There are some things that needs to be ironed out in the transition between preschool and K-5... but otherwise overall very happy with this school. read more

I am shocked that this schools rating isn't higher. Our daughter attends the toddler program after we were referred by our friends who also have a daughter in their program. After 3 weeks of being (our recommendation came from a family whose daughter has been in for a year) our child is so well adjusted and absolutely loves every teacher there. She naps for roughly the same amount of time she does at home and asks for the teachers when she wakes up in the morning. They encouraged us to bring our child with us for the tour and allowed her to get familiar with the space she would be in. They also keep us updated all day long with notes and pictures on the app which I really really appreciate since I've been home with her for 18 months. Our daughter was enrolled in Rainbow Montessori's infant program starting April 29, 2024. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing and far from what was promised. 1. Nap Schedule: We were assured that she would receive two naps daily, one at 9:00 am and one at 1:00 pm. However, we discovered that the morning nap was not being provided. When we requested a nap time at 9:00 am, we were told it would not be accommodated and that the babies would only nap in the afternoon. Our daughter, being only 8 months old, needs her morning nap as recommended by her doctor. We frequently picked her up with red, tired eyes due to lack of sleep. 2. Diaper Changing: On multiple occasions, she pooped during drop-off. Despite our requests for immediate diaper changes, her diaper was changed two hours later, leading to severe rashes that she had never experienced before. 3. Food and Drink: She barely ate or drank during her time at Rainbow Montessori, which was alarming and concerning for us as parents. Due to these issues, we decided to withdraw her from the program. Her sleep, food, and diaper needs were not met as promised, causing her significant distress. We believe that unenrolling our daughter was indeed the right decision. Despite our overall experience, we want to acknowledge and appreciate Ms. Julie's professionalism and dedication. We wish everyone else could be as good as her. We understand the initial adjustment period can be challenging for everyone involved, but we expected the commitments made before her start date to be honored. Additionally, our attempts to address these concerns with the office were met with rude and dismissive responses. I do not recommend Rainbow Montessori to any parent who values the well-being and comfort of their child. Our experience was far from satisfactory, and we hope this review helps others make informed decisions about their childcare options. Their director, David Rodenborn, seems to be running the business solely for money and does not appear to care about the well-being of the infants and children in his care. My kid has been going to Rainbow for 2.5 years now, starting in the infant class at 12 months old. Each class (infant - Ms Maria, Ms Jenny; toddler - Ms Perla; preschool - Ms Shyamala) has had wonderful teachers. My kid has learnt to be independent and has thrived under the teachers. Minor point of improvement: The communication of the teachers in the younger classes could be better (non-native English speakers), but we always got the information we needed and trusted the teachers, they are all loving and supportive. read more

My daughter has been in the infant classroom for the past 4+ months and has absolutely loved her time at Rainbow. Our family was really committed to giving her a Montessori education and we were so happy to select Rainbow after a very warm welcome from Ms. Julie and her team. We appreciated the slow start they offered our family since this was my daughter's first time being cared for outside of our home without family. She acclimated quicker than expected and really enjoys the teachers and friends in her classroom. Infant, toddler program teachers are great. Our kid has been going to Rainbow Montessori in Sunnyvale for over 4 years. For 4 years there were no issues and the trouble started at 1st grade. The 1st grade experience has been extremely disappointing and by all means it was a total disaster. Ms Natalie just complains about everything and Ms Boi is nothing more than a rubber stamp. What is sad is they don't have any appreciation for their own Infant and Toddler programs. The only bright spot was Mr Santiago and he goes above and beyond to work with kids. The kids are returning to school after attending classes online for more than a year and the staff has no clue how to adapt to the current situation and engage the kids. They just complain about little things that you would expect teachers to address routinely. I have spoken to few other parents to get their opinion and they too aren't happy. A lot of parents have voiced their discontent with Ms. Natalie due to her rudeness and condescending attitude towards kids. Do the kid's at this age need to go through this? We pulled out our kid and are now sending him to a public school. Large safe campus and Affordable tuition with mindful care, quality education and healthy hot lunch from infant to K-5. My son started with Rainbow Montersorri since covid time. I sincerely appreciate Ms. Tram, Ms Trudi, Ms Marita, Ms Sreedevi, Ms Chithra and Ms Emily. The all show love, care and patience especially my son is very most sensitive type and taking him long time to adapt new environment. Academic side I see major improvement from no English to daily conversation and from frustration and crying to sitting down quietly 20 mins and do writing and math worksheets own his own. About hot lunch program, I used to pack cold lunch for my older kid who attend top public school. I saw school kitchen oven heat lunch with wax paper box and plastic wrap. Plastic wrap melted directly on top of lunch meal and kitchen staff did not care all. I visited many other prestige schools and I always check their lunch container most of them use toxic wax liner paper box and oven heat directly. Comparing to Rainbow Montersorri, I really like they use individual stainless steel box to heat up lunch and low heat not melting plastic wrapper. Please continue keeping real healthy lunch throughout for kids! Rainbow has a large and super safe campus. The classrooms are big and good educational toys made available to the toddlers. I joined my toddler at 2. I was not very happy. Toddlers have a lot of energy which requires energetic and caring teachers as well. Once I just dropped by to pick my kid early without any notice and to my surprise I found the kids sitting in a circle and watching something on a tab while the teacher was on the chair. Big red flag for me but still wanted to give the school a benefit of doubt given that the school had good ratings. I changed her section. The change was definitely better. The teachers were putting in effort in engaging the kids , active and energetic but the problem was the teachers were not very good at communication. One teacher spoke broken english and the other teacher we never understood so far. I loved everything about the school the classrooms, the schedule, the material present for the kids, tuition etc. But as a parent I feel that to engage a toddler the caretaker should be energetic, caring and good at communication. For a school like Rainbow I feel that the above was a minimum bar for hiring a teacher. read more

It's one of the pre-schools with relatively large campus. Over the time many of the good teachers left and the quality has been going down. They hire helper teachers for cheap whose communication in english is so horrible that I wish my kids don't pick from them. With change in management recently, more than 15 teachers across the elementary school, the preschool and the toddler program (including some very reputed head teachers) have resigned since last month. I think the school is going to implode. I am predicting the school will close permanently pretty soon and the land moving into a residential zone (lots of new townhouse building activity in that area already). read more

My kid goes to Kindergarten class L2 where Ms.Sridevi is the head teacher. There is good emphasis on reading, writing and mathematics. as well as extracurricular stuff like coloring,etc . We have two kids. The first child attended rainbow from 6mo~5yo. And the second child started around 12mo and is still enjoying time here at 2yo. So this review is for infant care, toddler care, and preschool. Infant room was simply amazing. I will never forget Ms. Annie in the littlest baby room. She just loved my child and provided amazing care. Becoming a working mother was not easy and she made it a whole lot better. They have a nursing area as well if you work nearby. Their windows are big and bright. The smallest kids have a separate sleeping space with dedicated cribs as they nap "on-demand"; in bigger babies room, they sleep on the montessori-style cots around the same time. After Ms. Annie, my children had Ms. Maria, Ms. Mildred (retired), and Ms. Fely as their main teachers and I feel truly thankful every single one of them (also other teachers). I was worried about the toddler room initially as there's a sudden jump of class size. But we had great experiences in H4. Both kids loved the teachers and had lots of fun. The second child is still in H4. For preschool, my first one went to S3, with Ms. Tuyet as the head teacher. My child loved her so much and I could tell that she loved him back just as much if not more. He still misses his teachers so much and tells me he wants to visit them. They do lots of arts, science experiments, nature observation, etc. My child's art skill improved a lot, he could read quite long books independently, add / subtract multi digit numbers. I worried if they were teaching too much but they made it so fun that my son still thinks math is a fun game. I was a little worried about him getting bored in public school, but it all worked out well. He loves learning, helping others, and keeps improving. They use brightwheel for giving updates and it works pretty well. As for the school, the facility is nice, they provide healthy meals, and pretty spacious. They had really nice temperature monitor setup during the peak of covid which was cool. I honestly wasn't fond of the office staffs - not the kindest, but they worked fine and based on my first child, they are pretty kind to children. During the covid closure, they did not charge tuition to parents but they paid their staffs. (I know some of my friends' schools did the opposite). She would embarrass my daughter in front of the entire class. She is loud and has no basic sense how to interact with kids. Its not my child was naughty she is more of shy girl. My daughter did not mention that to me only after she left the school she mentioned otherwise I would have complained and about this teacher. This is the review of the preschool program - S3 class with Ms. Tuyet as the head teacher. If you're reading the reviews of every daycare on Yelp or Google, you're probably wanting to know the details of the program, teachers, environment, etc. We were one of them, and I'm writing this review to share our experience. When our child turned 2 years and 9 months old and was fully potty-trained, she was then eligible to move up to the preschool programs at Rainbow Montessori. We toured multiple classrooms when it was used to be the norm before covid-19 happened, and chose S3 class with Ms. Tuyet who is such a fun and bubbly person to be around, not only for the kiddos but for the parents. Our daughter has spent last 2 years with Ms. Tuyet and has created such a strong bond with her. Ms. Tuyet is a passionate teacher with lots of ideas for teaching otherwise difficult subjects for younger children (what each organ of the body does, multiple science experiments, etc.). She has an experience from the public school system and believes in a fun learning environment, with a particular focus on arts and crafts. Her classroom is decorated with many paintings and crafts that kids have beautifully created. Our child at little under the age of 3 learned how to write numbers 1-100 and beyond, upper and lower cases of alphabet, read 3-letter-words in just 1 year. After 1 more year, at the age of 4.5, she can now do 4-digit addition, write us beautiful cards and read kindergarten to grade 1-2 level books. The way your child looks at someone and talks about them can sometimes tell you everything you need to know. That's how we built trust with Ms. Tuyet and Ms. Irene, the assistant teacher, over time. We deeply appreciate the incredibly patient, loving, caring and competent teachers of S3 for all they have done for our daughter and other children. read more

Both my kids had a really rough experience at Rainbow Montessori Child Development Center. Only a good pre-school. Not a good elementary school at all. All the frustrated ladies who are not able to find any other job are elementary school teachers here. Teachers scream, shout , belittle kids in front of other kids, play favoritism. If you do not want to bring down your Childs' confidence, do yourself a favor, rather go for for a public school with just average rating, even that will is 100% better than Rainbow Montessori Child Development center. It's crucial for young children to have positive experiences in their educational environments, especially during their formative years. It's disheartening when teachers don't provide the nurturing and supportive environment that children need to thrive. It's been almost 2.5 years since my daughter has been at Rainbow Montessori. She joined as a toddler in H2 class which was headed by Ms.Brenda and her team included Ms.Tram, Ms.Vasanthi and Ms.Norma. Those teachers were simply awesome. My daughter loves Ms.Tram and wanted to see her everyday. Then she moved to G4 Preschool class, headed by Ms.Balwinder and her team includes Ms.Rose and Ms.Pavithra. They are very kind and wonderful team who makes the kids learn many things while having fun. She loved her teachers there and enjoyed playing with friends. During the time she had attended, she learnt to read and write words and small sentences, do some basic math, learn basic science like the solar system, plants, etc and well prepared for Kindergarten, I would say she was even educationally advanced. The teachers worked together with each child towards development at their own pace, which was great so the students didn't feel like they were being lectured or pressured. My daughter has gotten very much interested in planting as they have studied in the class. Also she was super excited with the projects given to her in G4 and she did all by herself which helped her to gain confidence and waiting for next project every month. They also help kids to learn social skills and reinforce manners. Ms.Balwinder has a very structured classroom but it's also a colorful, fun and loving atmosphere. She is very active, energetic and uses different techniques to teach and engage kids without even they realize they are learning. Apart from that she also teaches Bollywood dance to the kids and its amazing to watch the kids performing during Diwali and Holiday programs. My daughter absolutely love the Bollywood dance which Ms.Balwinder teaches and that is a motivating factor for her to go to school everyday. We are so happy that we made the right choice for my daughter and I would highly recommend this school to other parents. read more

Wish there was a zero star option. Had enrolled my daughter in half day pre school last week and submitted the forms for withdrawal today. The office management sympathized with me but of course they will charge me the full tuition for 15 day period even though I am not sending my child anymore. I will make some special pickles with the sympathies you served me, ladies. To be honest, the office did offer a different classroom tour, but we've been so disillusioned by this experience of last 2 days, that we decided nothing to have with the school. The problem for me and my spouse was the teacher (lets call her "S") in charge of the class. The problem for the teacher was my 2.5 yr old (and potty trained) daughter . The teachers concerns (more like accusations, given her tone while talking to us): a. Accusation: "too young to be in her class". Fact: Uhmm, not according to your school rules and office. b. Accusation: "Stands during circle time when other kids are seated". Fact: yeah she is 2.5 and will take some time to follow the rules. The sky does not fall if a child is standing during circle time. c. Accusation: "2.5 yr olds are not usually potty trained yet!!" Fact: Not a SINGLE potty accident in school over 4 days. d. Accusation: "Cried during the class on day 3 and day 4". -- Duh, she is 2.5!! Heard of separation anxiety? Also, I will note here that she did not cry on first 2 days at all, in fact she was overjoyed to be away from home and to be at school (which made my wife a lil sad, but thats a different story). She waltzed into the classroom cheerful and full of energy, how many kids do that on day 1 and 2 of their school life? The class was supposed to cater to kids between 2.5 yrs and 4.5 yrs. In any case, we initially thought the teacher may have a point and enquired with the office on change of class (to a younger class, amongst toddlers). But the office insisted that potty trained 2.5 yr olds belong to preschool and not toddler and they said the same to the teacher, who agreed (rather reluctantly it appears in hindsight). To summarize, we were the parents caught in the employee-management crossfire. Teacher feels stressed with current lot of kids and does not want any more kids, especially not young pesky 2.5 yr olds. Management everywhere exist to maximize profit. Neither of them covered themselves with glory. My wife, ever the wiser one amongst us, did say that the teacher may not be up to mark and I was not fully convinced and I over looked the unwelcome demeanor of the teacher during orientation itself. I should have acted upon our first gut, which was not to go with the class. Deeply regret having enrolled my daughter here. read more

We had a great experience with Rainbow Montessori for our son's Kindergarten. He was with Ms. Sridevi and really grew in confidence and independence in his time there. During his pre-school days, we were seeing that he had trouble expressing himself even when he knew what he wanted to say. Ms. Sridevi identified this and gave him the nurturing environment to feel safe about expressing himself both in academic stuff and in conveying his thoughts. We also liked the incorporation of practical life lessons and general good habits in the curriculum. I have called the school to ask information about registration and waitlist for infants. It was the first day care that I will no longer consider as an option after only talking by phone with the attendee. Her name is Airlin (apologize if I am misspelling it). She was extremely rude since she got into the phone. I told her very politely that she was being VERY rude with me and she just replied: "I'm not being rude". I picked Rainbow Montessori school for my daughter since she was 2.5 years old until now she is 4.5 years old and continue studying here. There are multiple reasons that I want to share you why I picked Rainbow Montessori school : 1. The owner of the school is a great person! she is genuine lady who really wants kids to grow up happily, healthy and intelligence. She doesn't really charge the parents as it is supposed to be compares to other private school in silicon valley. The program, the assembly, events that are provided in and out school are great, tons of pictures to share and kids are excited. 2. Apple, our daughter joined H4 class in Toddler program, I don't even have to do potty training, they taught her everything, and all the musics, exercises and play and play that is how they built intelligence to kids. All teachers and assistant teachers are very nice and patiently taken care of them. Thanks to Ms. Pearla and her team. 3. Later on, she moved to H3, Ms. Rebecca's class. Though everyone said she may be a bit more discipline and I was worried that she may cried just like when she was in H4, only for the first week. But you can sense that Ms. Rebecca provided the instruction that, some other parents can't accept, all about concerning of kid's future. You can feel and sense that she cares and really wants kids got the best and grow up in a good manner and in a quality way. Sometime, we disagreed but you can feel that because of care so she wants to share her opinion which other teachers might not openly tell parents as they afraid that parents may get angry at them. However, when looking back to see how far your kids developed and see their progress in studying, we have to accept that Ms.Rebecca delivered her best performance to the child. Ms. Dill (who was in Ms. Rebecca's team) very smart teacher, sweet and using Montessori technique and always look for the talent, find out the way to make environment become more joyful and encourage kids to open and speak more. So does Ms. Maggi that all of the kids love her and feel like home when Ms. Maggi around. I see my little Apple grows up happily and healthy with discipline and intelligence. Now she is in Kindergarten and everyday is her happy day in school. In K-L2 class. Ms.Aliya and Ms.Emilia brought their true love to the kids, they are just like mothers of them. I have no worried to see Apple there with them and sometime I even have to tell Apple to lower her happiness and energy because it is so much that you can sense the happiness radiate around. The best study is in Norway country and it states that the best study is playing. So teachers in Montessori are very understanding and flexible enough to not force your child to study all the time. My Kid is only 4.5 years old, she can count 1 to 100, performs addition, subtraction of 2 to 3 digits, read a whole books and princess stories by herself. My daughter went to G4 class. Miss Balvinder was head teacher. She is exceptionally good, the best teacher in the school !!. She is very passionate about her job and puts her heart into it. My daughter has been in the school for the last 6 months. She is in Pre-School and class G-3. Miss Dilshani, Miss Geeta and Miss Marian are my daughter teachers. All three teachers are very patient, energetic and motivated towards helping children to learn. I saw a visible difference in my child's behavior and she improved her speaking skills a lot. Last week was her holiday performance and i was surprised to see not only my daughter but all the children performed so confidently. It was a really touching moment for me. My son showed tremendous changes within a couple of months after going to this class.. not just me could see difference in him,, but all my friends and neighbors could see the difference.. Ms. Balwinder is really very understanding and deals with the kids in the right way.. she is quite strict when it comes to academics.. but equally balances it by being lenient at times.. she is my son's favorite teacher.. and Ms Marita is also very sweet and friendly with the kids.. My daughter is into Kindergarten L2 Ms. Sreedevi class. This year due to online classes initially we were doubtful how will the classes be but Ms. Sreedevi puts all her efforts and she does her best to make sure kids understand concepts clearly. Kids have learnt a lot in all aspects, apart from language and maths she made sure that kids do art , craft , singing and she will make kids talk to each other so they get to know more. She teaches kids discipline , little strict at times yet more patient while teaching and she is ready to teach N number of times until each and every kid understands the concept. I'll keep this short as I could go on and on about how poorly my child was treated by the director and teachers at this school. Please keep in mind that this is a review for the elementary side only. My son started rainbow at 18 months and we had an amazing experience throughout the toddler program. It wasn't until he moved to the elementary side that my faith was lost in their ability as educators. First let me say that my child was absolutely discriminated against because the color of his skin. There is absolutely no diversity and of you don't look like them, you don't fit in. This school is training little robots with absolutely no personality. I am a very involved parent and know my child's struggles and that he is not perfect. I am not one to defend his bad behavior, but when you can see and feel that your child is being discriminated against and picked on, i had no choice. The director, Ms. Boi is a joke. The way she speaks to people and treats children, she has no business calling herself an educator. She is rude, demeaning, overreacts to situations and causes chaos with the children. Both the director and the teacher publicly embarrassed my child on many occasions and made it clear to both me and him that they did not like him and treated him as such. My biggest mistake was trying to appease this women when I should have followed my gut, trusted my child and pulled him out of this school months ago! He is now in a caring environment where he is thriving both academically and emotionally. He is learning to love school again, because at rainbow, everyday was a fight because of how he was treated. I know that education is quite competitive, but 18-25 pages of homework in kindergarten is ridiculous! Lastly, not once did I have a conversation with the staff about my child's academics. He is intelligent. They just don't have the ability to interact with anyone who has a personality and does not fit into their racial "box." I am not the only parent who pulled their child out for similar reasons. Do your research. This school was an unhealthy, toxic environment for both me and my child! read more

Pros: We love this school. My son had exceptional teachers. Ms Sheila, Ms Qui, Ms Padma, Ms Marna, Ms Julia just to name a few. Also Ms Boi , the principal, is great. They gave my son strong academic and life skills. Their tuition fee is very reasonable and hot lunch is included for pre k and k. Cons: the kintergarden playground doesn't have any trees around. No shade in hot summer days. Also the auditorium needs a face lift. read more

We have been sending our son to this place for few years already. He has really, picked up on various aspect, studying at this place. His motor skills, grasping power has immensely increased. As with any kid and school you cannot expect miracles in just couple of weeks of joining. So every parents has to be a little patient. The only downside i see with this place is the parking in peak times. You have to plan properly so you can drop your kid and go back safely. They do conduct back-to-school nights, parent-teacher meetings (every quarter) and give you the ratings on different activities of the child. I strongly recommend this school and also Montessori method of teaching as well. We were very hesitant to send our son initially. But we came to know the practical method of teaching, we are very happy. It also depends on how your child is. You need to ask following questions before you decide if a certain type of teaching method suits him/her. - In what way your child graps things easily? Practical (or) Just by observation etc., - You need to give some time for the child to pick this method of teaching. So do you have that patience? If you can think on these lines and answer, then you can chose a better school for your child. read more
