Located across Walmart, they will get you your photos digitally and the physical ones to you within the same day if you drop them off in the morning. Reasonable pricing, and they have plenty of film, cameras and disposable cameras options inside. Small establishment, have to dodge a crackhead or 2, but pretty safe and great location. Parking is street parking and can take time to find openings around the block. read more

I've been coming to Rainbow Photo for years. I often shoot film and get my film developed here. They are fast and the cheapest on island. I often just do develop only but if you opt to scan your images, you can leave a USB with them or get photos emailed to you via dropbox. Super super easy! I recently dropped off four disposable cameras and this is one of the only shops on island that can develop it in a day! Develop and scan was about $11 per roll - super affordable in my opinion and I got my photos the next day! I love supporting local and appreciate that we still have a great film shop on island. read more

Absolutely terrible company. I will never be supporting this business. This morning I called regarding help with my Nikon camera. You think a local store would show aloha, but they literally yelled at me over the phone. I hung up to avoid being yelled at from a stranger at 10 am about help regarding my camera from a CAMERA STORE! Then the store has called me back twice I assume to apologize. Skip this store and go to Best Buy! They are much more helpful, considerate and they won't raise there voice. Very impressed by the one-hour turnaround time! The staff was super friendly and made everything super easy. The pricing is really reasonable, especially considering the awesome quality I got. I'm used to waiting 3-7 business days for film processing, but here, I dropped it off in 3 minutes and had my photos back in under an hour! The scans were perfect--no dust or scratches. Nothing more daunting than having to get your photo for something that sticks with you for 10 years. Came here because 1. Support local 2. My passport expired. Oopsie. They must be doing something right because the last time I came was 10 years ago for a new passport photo and it came out GREAT. Fast forward 10 more years and still same quality. I was in and out in under in under 15 minutes. So fast I didn't even need parking validation. Not to mention it was only $10 for the photo. Dealssss! TLDR: This is the place to go if you need 35mm film developed + scanned quickly and cheap, but do not expect quality. Unlike another film lab in Honolulu, this place doesn't email you if your roll turns out blank and does not offer refund or store credit for blank rolls. PRICE & EFFICIENCY: It costs $10.95 per roll to develop with scans, and around $20 with prints. Your scans will be delivered to you through email containing a Dropbox link, usually within 1-2 hours. Each roll of film is separated by folder. The price for developing + scans here are relatively cheaper and quicker with a 1-2 hour turnaround rate compared to Treehouse, that cost ~$12/roll and a 3-5 day turnaround rate, but this means that it'll affect the quality of your scans. Also, the film here is overpriced -- I don't understand why Kodak Ultramax 400 and Kodak Gold 200 cost ~$15+/roll here. QUALITY: I didn't find a problem with my scans here until recently. Two rolls, taken from two different cameras, that I've had developed has a white line (attached) on the same spot of every photo... weird. SERVICE: They don't email or call you if your scans turned out blank. They also don't refund or provide store credit for blank rolls. I often find myself having to call why I only have two rolls of film inside my Dropbox folder, instead of the three I dropped off -- it's because it turned out blank and they don't even bother contacting you about it... which at the very least, they SHOULD instead of keeping customers confused. If you are an amateur film photographer and unsure if you've loaded and rewinded your film properly, go to Treehouse in Kakaʻako instead because AT LEAST they contact you about your blank rolls and provide store credit. My in-store interactions with the staff here, however, are ok. I haven't experienced a rude interaction with them but most have just been average. This review reflects the service I've received getting 35mm film developed here for the past three years. Deduced two stars for the lack of communication for blank film, not offering refund/store credit for blank film, and overpriced film rolls. Rainbow's only strengths compared to Treehouse is their cheaper pricing for developing + scans and how quickly they get your scans back to you. read more

Walked right in, and saw a mirror on the right, and a stool on the left at the entryway. Service was courteous, prompt, and straightforward, all within a few minutes from entering the doorway! When I made a comment about not looking too happy to start traveling again, he offered to retake the photo. The price was right - $9.95 for a couple of photos in about 10 minutes. I found some old home movies dated 1964-1966 when I cleaned out my moms house. On the recommendation of my daughter, took them to Rainbow Photo Video. Parking is easy, the attendant is very friendly and informed me that there is a 20 minute grace period. I walked in and they said they are able to put the movies onto a DVD and USB. He said it would take several weeks. They called a week later and everything was completed. The customer service was great and I would recommend them if you need their services. read more

He showed me the photo on the camera to make sure I was good with it. After I gave my okay, he told me around 10 minutes. It's a no for me. Used to come here a lot. Staff is unprofessional, rude and small boto energy. Called about scans that were suppose to be in. They said my hand writing was too hard to read which is why I wrote my email in all caps because I know people can't read my name correctly. Tried correcting me as if I didn't know how to spell my own name lol. Told them I also put in my phone number (they don't ask for it). If they were unsure, why didn't they call to verify. Called and had to spell it out twice. And still no scans sent. For all I know they just sent kids photos to some stranger's email. Don't waste your time to come here. Go to Treehouse at SALT. If I could give this place less than one star as far as customer service goes, I would. This place has to have the worst customer service of any establishment I've ever been in. They seem just very unhappy, impatient, and down right rude. They should be lucky that they're the only place that does one hour photo (that I know of) because I'm pretty sure that's the only draw to even come to this place. They've been rude every time I go in but today was particularly bad. Enough for me to write this review. I came to get my 35mm film developed. I initially wanted scans and prints. But changed my mind before paying that I just wanted scans instead. The guy at the register huffed and puffed like it was a major inconvenience that I had changed my mind. I then asked for medium format for my photos and he gestured to the brochure of prices and said something under his breath about "look right there" I didn't even ask for the price I just said what I wanted. I just thought this was incredibly rude to point and tell me to look when I was just stating what I wanted. You have a pretty easy job. It's amazing that people in these customer service jobs get away with being so rude but if me as a healthcare worker treated people like they I'd get drug thru the mud for it. Needless to say I am done just putting up with the incredibly rude demeanor of the people who work here. I'll just take my business to treehouse where they're not rude. read more

I have literally worked and passed through Koreamoku St, I mean Keeaumoku St since I've moved here 11 years ago. I was today years old to learn about Rainbow Photo Lab, which is understandable because it's a little tiny shop in a sea of tiny shops. When I say tiny, I mean tiny. Located in the Samsung Plaza on the main front facing Keeaumoku, it's easy to pass this photo lab. Three doors, right next to each other and tiny sign make this a legit hidden gem. I've been looking for somewhere to get passport photos done. Literally walked in, let them know what I wanted, and the guy told me to sit in the bench in the corner and he took my passport photo right there. The shop itself, is tiny. You could probably only fit like 4 people in there at once (not social distancing). They sold some really cool film cameras and, of course some film. Anyway, my prints only took 10 minutes and only cost me $10. It was much easier than other places I've been like walmart and walgreens. I will definitely head back there again if I ever need prints! read more

This might be my new go-to place for film development. In honesty, I was a little hesitant at first because the overall reviews for this place was a bit lower compared to all of the other places I know of, but since a lot of my film friends go here to get their film developed, I decided to give it a shot. Parking: I believe you can park in the lot right next to the shop (on the right side of the shop if you are looking directly at it), although I believe there is a small parking fee to use that lot. Not too sure if Rainbow Photo will validate to park there, or if there's a grace period where you wouldn't need to pay under a certain time. I decided to pay metered parking right next to Ross and go around the corner to the shop! Service: The worker was really nice! He was friendly when I walked in, quick to get me what I wanted, and I was in and out of that place in less than 5 minutes! He told me my images will be ready in an hour and to pick up by the end of the day (I went in around 9:30 am) Cost: I had one roll of film that I wanted to develop, for a digital scan copy, which came out to a little over $11. I think this is pretty typical for any film shop you go to on the island. The reason I would come back here is because all my other film scans usually take a few days if not a week to be ready to view. This place got it done instantly which was amazing! I asked for a passport photo, they pointed me to a mirror and a chair, I took a few seconds fluff my hair and straighten my collar. He took one pic, showed me the result and I thought it looked great. He said it would be ready in 10 minutes. So I went into Ross, picked up a few things, and returned to the lab for my pics. $10 for two. Both guys who helped me were calm, friendly, and nice. Also, this is my 4th passport, it's by far the best photo I've ever taken. I'm not saying your photo will come out as well, but it seems like they will give you a couple chances to get it right. read more

Started to realize that their quality of customer was slacking, some heavy set guy with black hair straight up threw a 3 by 5 photo in my face when asked to see a size comparison. Most employees there are pricks. I recommend TREEHOUSE located at SALT for developing photos, it might take longer but their customer service and knowledge is superior and the quality of the photos doesn't feel cheap. The amount of disrespect these workers at Rainbow photos has for their customers is unbelievable. I am willing to go out of my way to never give these guys my business ever again. read more

Fast turnaround. I prefer the medium resolution 35mm scans. Takes about the same time too. The difference is worth the couple extra bucks.

How many one star reviews does this place need to fire the young guy at the front? Most rude person ever. Like not personable at all. He is more useful watching paint dry for your business because then he isn't actually speaking to customers. I came to pick up photos but the rolls were blank and he then had the nerve to charge me $15 for "processing". PROCESSING WHAT? The air?
