ABSURDLY OVERPRICED! I wanted a rush job and don't mind paying premium, but I don't enjoy paying 4 TIMES THE PRICE OF COSTCO PHOTO. Costco price for six 16"x20" photos is just under $44 including tax, Rainbow Photo charged me $189! I would usually never make a review because of price/value (reviews are usually for service or lack thereof), but at 4 time the cost for no perceivable difference in end product infuriates me. There's no prices displayed on the website, and there were no prices disclosed during our email order correspondence, but it's my fault for wanting a half day quicker service. To put in perspective, that's like paying $20 for a Big Mac with 1 minute service versus 2 minute service, $50 for a movie theater ticket for half the previews, or a new Toyota Corolla for $80,000 for 30 minutes in the dealership vs regular price of $20,000 for an hour of your time. Do not come here to develop your disposable cameras!! GO THROUGH LONGS This is the only place on the island (said Costco) that develops disposable cameras within a 24 hour period. You can send them to longs and that will take 12 days. I took my disposable camera here and my film was ruined!! It was a point and shoot disposable so I highly doubt it was the cameras fault. It cost $18.25 in total (with CD) I got the same thing done in California last month at Costco for $6.00 The pictures were all underexposed and blurry they can't be recovered and it was from one of the best days of my life. I paid for a CD of my photos and my CD WAS CORRUPT!!! I thought maybe the CD would have clearer pics but sadly, my computer wouldn't even take it and I tried on multiple computers. First time here, but I would always recommend this spot to whomever would ask me where they could take passport photos. Now it was my turn along with my daughter and other half. Located right on Keeaumoku Street, across of WalMart & Sam's Club. If you're lucky you'll score street parking right in front of their shop. If not there is a parking lot in the Samsung Plaza that you will need to pay if you do not get your ticket validated. Once you enter its a pretty small spot, and where you take your passport photo is right by the entrance. They do have a mirror directly across of you so that you can fix yourself before you take your photo. Printing takes about 15-20mins. It's $10 for 2 copies and the hand it to you in a brown envelope. I saw that they do offer other photo services if you are interested. In their display case they do sell disposable cameras, Instax film and a small selection of film cameras. I also was able to smile in my passport photo. I thought were not supposed to smile?! I highly recommend this spot if you're in need of a passport photo ASAP, or even in general. read more

It's the only place I found that did digital passport pictures. However, when I got home and looked at my photo on the computer, opposed to seeing the tiny image on the digital camera at the store, I realized that my collar was messed up in the photo and I can't even use the photos. So in summary, don't waste your money if you need a good photo. If you don't care and just want a photo, go ahead. The guy is so eager to get you out the door so you get a photo real quickly, but don't expect it to be good. read more

Hawh, I tried to give this place a chance but the third time did it for me. They say they offer fingerprints there but they don't do a good work on it. I went in there for a third time to REDO my fingerprints and they all came back rejected. So I have to REDO my fingerprints again for the fourth time. So I wouldn't recommend coming here is your looking to get a fingerprint done, seems like they don't know what they're doing. I feel like they shouldn't even offer that service. read more

Hardly ever write semi alright reviews but the guy that helped us seemed like he was rushed and was just not happy so we took it slow maybe thought he was backed up today. We went in to get prints of our 2 disposable cameras and told us around 1 hour and a half it'll be done. Currently 4 hours later still haven't received an email or phone call. We called and no one answered the phone We dropped off our cameras at 12:45 It's now 4:15 and the place closes at 6. read more

I love seeing these reviews of customers who obviously don't take photos for a living or is familiar with any form of film photography who complain about prices and dare to compare to shitty ass longs and Costco processing. There's a reason they don't process film anymore guys, stop supporting big corporations and pay the extra for a local shops. The guys from Rainbows are super rad and continue to put out great work consistently for me for the past year or two now and not once have I looked at a blurry picture and blame it on them, *sigh* I don't even know how people have the nerve to do that but that's beyond me. While I agree that this may not be the best place to take a passport photo (no recommendations/advice, only one photo taken, no reminder that there is now NO SMILING ALLOWED in passport photos)... Rainbow Photo Lab is a great place to have film developed if you're looking for someplace quick and relatively inexpensive. Developing 35 mm color and b&w film is under $15 per roll (I believe ~$10 for color, ~$13 for b&w) which is cheaper than most other options on-island. Plus, they can return digital scans to you in a matter of hours. You'll get an email with a link to a Dropbox folder and that's that! Easy peasy lemon squeezy. read more

Very unprofessional young man working the counter. I went to the store for the first time needing film developed and wanted to support local. From start to finish he was rude and made my boyfriend and I uncomfortable. I think the store should reconsider his position with customer service, he is not personable. We tried giving him the benefit of the doubt but after reading several reviews (most likely about the same person) I think something needs to be done. Came here for a passport photo. I should have come here first before numerous passport photo failures. You can park in the Samsung Plaza parking and have your parking ticket fully validated. The store owner (?) promptly took my photo and showed me the digital image if it was okay. I was surprised to find it perfectly fine on the first try (I went to several other places for horrible photos prior to this visit) and said it was great. He asked me to wait for 10 minutes and I think I waited only about 5 minutes. It was only $10 for two sets of passport photo, which is more reasonable than Walgreen and Walmart (and they really lack in taking good passport photos.) This place gets it right. I read other reviews that stated rainbow is more costly but they actually have the lowest rate for passport photos among other places I went to (Walmart, Walgreen, a photo shop in downtown...) read more

8mm to mp4 I took some 8 mm film reels and Beta Tapes that contained old family videos and digitized them. I can now view these analog bad boys in a stunning 720 x 405 pixel glory!!! For each reel, They gave me a DVD and let me bring in my portable hard drive to transfer the mp4 files. I can now post them on to youtube like my parents intended back in the 80's read more

"Rainbow" Photo & Video. Rainbow makes me think, innocent.. happy.. pot of gold.. Care Bears! I wanna go! Well, I am sorry to report, no pot of gold and I'm certainly not happy. No Care Bears either. Surprise, surprise. Note, the only service I have gone here for is getting film developed and scanned to CD. The several times I have gone the people behind the counter were inexperienced and pretty clueless about film in general. You may think, "Well duh, who shoots film now days?!" First, plenty people do. And secondly, that doesn't matter. If they offer the service, their people should be trained and know their stuff. Developing prices? I haven't been there for a while now, but I remember some services (specifically cross processing slide film) being exorbitant. We're talking 2-3 times the cost of other places here. I'm sure not all their prices are that bad thus my price rating is moderate. I had gotten a few rolls developed at a lower cost the first two times I went. That suddenly changed when the owner or manager was in one day and apparently "corrected" the situation, saying I was given the wrong price before. And now it's over twice what it was? I walked out. Besides which, their developing and scanning wasn't even good. High prices, employees not knowledgeable, only decent services? Feeling a little deceived here. Ever since longs stopped developing film, my coworkers and I usually stop by here to get our film developed. It's really convenient because it's located right across SAMS, Walmart, and alamoana. So you can drop off your film, walk around a little, come back and pick it up! To develop regular film it's usually about an hour wait. If you're developing black and white I think they stop processing at 2pm so you're gonna have to come back the next day. I'm not sure but it's always good to give them a call for any questions! Do yourself a favor and get your photo work done by the Rainbow team while you get yourself a boba milk tea a few doors down. The photo paper they use look great and the results are quick. I shared my photos via email and it took less than 30 minutes to email, review and print. This was our first time using them and we were hesitant because we had never used them before but I don't regret giving them our business. Oh, and the parking has a 15min grace period. You will probably get your business done within the grace period. They are that good and that fast!!! We will be going to them exclusively from now on for our photo printing needs. I needed some (15) photos printed out from my iPhone the same day my friend wanted them ASAP. So after visiting Walmart and seeing the photo center was shut down, my friend told me about Rainbow Photo Lab across Walmart. So I walked over and they were open and helped me. I've never done it before outside my own printer, but this service is better and maybe cheaper than buying my own photo paper and using up my ink. Anyway, it took about 2 hours, so I just killed some time window shopping and walked back to get my photos. Perfect! Great job, I'll surely use them again when I need them. It was as easy as emailing them my uploaded pictures. Although I called after sending it just make sure they received them and confirm my order. So simple, great service. Now I can email them and let my friend pick up his pictures instead of me having to go. I would rate this place 4.5, really. This place is the place to go for high-quality inexpensive canvas prints. Went on a Monday to drop off my picture, and the man said I could pick it up the next day. I've called other photo places, and they said I would have to wait a few days to a week or have it "rushed" and pay extra. They work super fast! The price was way reasonable too. My engagement picture is high-quality and was ready the next day! They also have other services like VHS or betamax to dvd services, photo restorations, etc. Their website is pretty accurate.
