From start to finish, I was happy with the service and care my dog and I received. Calling to determine if I needed to bring my dog in was easy and I was able to get an appointment pretty quick. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Both the tech and doctor were absolutely amazing with my dog. You could tell they truly loved dogs and their jobs. I was given all the options and not pressured into anything. I chose to do the testing just to be certain. Thankfully, there was nothing major wrong with my dog and we were prescribed some meds to support him while he got better. It seemed to be the best experience you could have when having to take your pet in for an emergency. Hopefully, I don't ever have an another emergency, but I am relieved to know I have a nice place close by to take him if I have to. Dr. Braun was amazing. She was genuine, patient, friendly, and it was obvious being a vet was her true calling! She gave me her thoughts and told me my options but didn't pressure me into anything. I felt confident that I could trust her opinion. The tech we started with was also super friendly and caring! I wish I could remember her name. She attentively listened to me rattle off everything I could think of and was awesome with Finn. I was happy with absolutely everyone we interacted with from start to finish. Brought my dog here a few years ago after she was hit by a car, they stated she was all good to go just had a broken leg, later that day my dog started vomiting black bile and when we called to bring her in they told us to wait 4 hours before bringing her. She died within an hour of that call. Never ever bring your pet here. It's also disgusting the way they try to defend themselves by trying to call them out after they failed to keep their pet alive. You guys are sick and need help. If it would let me, I would not give any stars. In July, we brought our dog Gadget to Rainbow to have a small lump checked out. We were told it was a cyst that wouldn't really hurt her, but to let them know if it started to look worse or grow. It did, and we decided to have it removed. It was not to be a difficult procedure, but she would require stitches that would need to be removed. Everything seemed to be ok when we picked her up, but within two days she developed a mass of infection next to the area where she had her surgery, and there was so much inflammation, her skin detached. She ended up staying almost a week at Rainbow, but she wasn't eating and was depressed, so we decided to pick her up and continue the treatment at home. She was overjoyed to be with us, started eating, and we felt relieved. After over a month, she was mostly healed, so we brought her back to Rainbow, had any remnants of stitches removed, got her on antibiotics and other meds, and we thought that was the end of it. Not so...a few weeks later, she developed a mass that grew so fast to the size of a grapefruit, she stopped eating again, had a high fever, and we brought her to an emergency hospital in Pittsburgh. Blue Pearl was wonderful, and they did what they could to treat her immediately, but we needed to follow up with our vet. Well, I can tell you it wouldn't be Rainbow. We have since taken Gadget to Creekside in Ellwood City, and a kinder group of people can't be found elsewhere. Rainbow is all about the money. If a human has surgery, the aftercare visits are part of the procedure. At Rainbow, just to walk in the door is a small fortune, then of course they charge you for all the aftercare, meds, everything. We spent thousands of dollars over the course of two months, and although we are not wealthy people, we found a way to pay because Gadget is worth the expense. However, when the costs became excessive, we asked if they would please work with us. Of course, they would not. As it turns out, she developed a bacterial infection that is resistant to almost all antibiotics, so we had to order a special one that requires the person administering it to wear gloves, as touching the medicine could cause a human to develop anemia. Gadget is still in treatment, seeing another surgeon tomorrow, and tonight she is back to not wanting to eat, running a fever, and sadly her prognosis is not good. If you love your animals, never take them to Rainbow for anything other than very routine care. They will bleed you dry financially, and I am convinced that Gadget developed her infection from something that happened at Rainbow. read more

I've used Rainbow Veterinary Hospital for our dogs for several years now, and I'm very pleased with their services. For routine visits, the techs and vets have both been very thorough and have taken the time necessary to ensure that our anxious girl is handled with care and patience. Questions have always been answered clearly and with good detail. The facility is clean and modern, and they offer services that I couldn't obtain elsewhere (allergy testing). In the past wait times could be (understandably) lengthy if the staff was handling an emergency, but wait times have been very minimal as of late. We've used the hospital's emergency service twice. In the first case, we had an in-home call for euthanasia at the end of our dear old dog's life. The staff were very compassionate in this difficult time, and I truly appreciate that they offer this option. In the second case, we had an office visit for a urinary tract infection, and the staff were exceptional. Despite the fact that the clinic had a very long, very busy day, everyone was friendly, and the vet provided very thorough care to ensure that a correct diagnosis was obtained and treatment could begin as soon as possible. read more

We had a terrible experience here but it was about two years ago and I'm still traumatized by it. We had an approx 10 day old puppy that wasn't nursing well and also had a little bulge by her dewclaw. I did feel like they nickel and dime you. They charged me for the visit, the iodine for the dewclaw and the gauze and syringe. The syringe was about $3. My normal vet would have given me a plastic syringe and I thought that was goofy to charge on top of everything. They tube fed the puppy and showed me how to tube feed and I told them that seemed like a lot based on what I read. I was right because I contacted the neonatal vet in Cleveland and they said it was too much based on weight. I took her back to rainbow when she started doing poorly again shortly after. The Cleveland vet was much further away and this was an emergency. I asked them if clavamox would be given for aspiration and they said they were going to give her something else because she could aspirate on a drop of clavamox? She stayed over there getting oxygen overnight. They also tubefed her, according to their "dosages."When I asked to move her to the Cleveland vet who knows neonates, they advised it would not be a good idea. I shouldn't have listened. The next day I called and asked if there was an update. They said she had passed and they had left a voicemail (they called a wrong number) and apparently they left a voicemail stating the puppy was throwing up and it was blood and formula and fluids gushing out of her nose - on the wrong persons voicemail and had tried to resuscitate her. I know I made the wrong choice going here and spent a fortune. I should never have gone there and I had a suspicion that her stomach was being overfilled. I would go to the Cleveland ER vet who specializes in neonatal care if I could do it all over again. The Cleveland vet also advised clavamox would have been something they would have considered strongly. All in all it was disappointing and if I should have driven the hour and 15 to get more accurate care. read more

We've been taking our dogs here for several years. I know a few people who won't go here for care but we've not had any issues that could not be resolved. Out of six + years of going here, we've only had one issue at the beginning (waiting way too long (45 minutes) in a room for the vet to come in, I actually got up and left. Turns out the tech didn't let the vet know we were in there) and it was resolved with satisfaction by the management and vet herself. I honestly believe if people have problems with this clinic, it's because of the approach they take with the staff and/or how they choose to handle the situation. The facility can't fix a problem if they don't know about it and being angry and rude to the staff is never going to turn out well for anyone. Everyone we've dealt with is professional, kind and very caring with our dogs. We also use their boarding facility, which I can't praise enough for the care they give. Our dogs get so excited to go for a stay at Rainbow and I know they are safe. I don't worry about them which is a HUGE! I want to give shout outs to Vicki in reception who is always kind, helpful and friendly. And to Johnna in boarding for managing the facility very well. I hope she never leaves. :) read more

My teacup Yorkie had a dental scheduled, I was told to check in at 7:30am and we did, I called the office after work around 2;30 because I hadn't heard anything, and you could only leave a message no person to speak with so I went to the office at 4pm and was told to go home they would call me when she was done as they hadn't started her dental yet, I was up set and said I wasn't leaving and the lady said ok, then I got a call at 6:42 from the Dr and she said the dental was all done and she would be ready around 7:45 for discharge, I told that Dr they caused undue stress on my pet leaving her for 8 1/2 hours doing nothing, I could of bought her in at 12 noon or 2 in the after noon she said that's just the way they do their procedures. I would and will not use a place or Dr that cause's stress on a pet for profit they never cared about her. she was there 13 hours for a dental. she looked like hell when I finally got her back. not to mention the price was over $800, I think the Dr came in at 4 that day or left for a house/farm call there was no reason to have her there from 7:30 am to 7:45 pm, read more

Usually everybody says how people care about the animals and veterinarian hospitals but that's not the truth through experience I've had it doesn't happen. But rainbow veterinarian is the best I've ever been in a veterinarian hospital my life. They save my cats life from a blockage and let him go to the head of the line so he could live when we went in for surgery. They gave reports every day twice a day how he was doing he took care of all the problems everything we needed if we had any questions and you will never find a better vet. There's not many vets around people don't realize there's a big shortage. These people are absolutely wonderful and now I've had a vet if I need somebody for my other animals. It might be in another state but it's only 35 miles away and you can't put a price on what they did for my animals and how they made us feel. I wish I could give you six stars but I can't read more

I've been to Rainbow twice in the last month with sick cats. Everyone is so empathetic and really listen to your concerns. They absolutely saved the day. I couldn't find an exotic vet to treat our bunny over the weekend for a deep cut on his side. They took him at 4 a.m., for stitches. I have mixed reviews about this place , my wife and I took our Jack Russel there when he got tore up by a German Shepherd and the care he got was great. Also we took our Standard Poodle there for surgery when she flipped her stomach and again great service. I even brought a cat home from there that needed a home. All times the vet bill was paid without problem so now here's my complaint the last time I called there was for my wife's toy poodle she was not feeling well and it was a couple days before my payday and I was told that I would have to have the money before they would check her out so that leads me to believe that the money is more important than the welfare of the pet so I will never be taking my pets there again! read more

I took my 9 year old dog there for emergency treatment after taking an antibiotic and she was unable to walk. They racked my bill up to 400.00 without even dealing with the issue I took her there for. It's a scan and the doctor was inexperienced and unsure of herself. I recently called to discuss a possible emergency via the phone. The woman i spoke to was very rude and not helpful. She did not ask any questions, bother to try and get background, or show any concern for the wellbeing of my pet during our short call. It truly made me feel as if they were not taking the situation seriously, and did not actually care about my pet. I won't be taking him there any time soon. I reccommend replacing the woman who worked the night of Friday May 21st, 2021, between 8-11 PM with someone who can be more sympathetic to ALREADY WORRYING PET PARENTS. read more

Great place. They're big, so if you find a vet you really prefer, you can schedule your appts with that particular doctor. We've had 4 dogs euthanized there and they couldn't have been more compassionate and professional about any of the procedures. It makes a really tough day a little bit easier when you're received in a sympathetic manner and not made to second guess your decision. I would and do recommend them to everyone. read more

The people are are very helpful. They have taken very good care of our dog when she needs to be boarded while my father needed to go to the hospital for his treatments. They are very enthusiastic about animals and that's what I love about this place. Was told to take our parrot to Rainbow when he broke his wing. They did take care of him on our first emergency visit, they bandaged him and gave us suggestions on the different things we could do. This past Thursday his bandage fell off, I called as soon as I noticed it and suggested that we just go ahead and amputate the wing. I was told that the vet would be consulted and would be called back. After 3 days and at least a half phone calls later to Rainbow, being told the same thing, the vet would call me back, we had to bury Rockstar this morning! A very sad "Mothers Day"! Run, don't walk away from this business. We had changed vets for medical treatment for our pets but thought they could handle boarding- nope! We got a call after midnight telling us they "thought they may have overdosed" our pet. When I finally got someone on the phone they told me they followed something that my husband (Not a veterinarian) wrote rather than the DOSE ON THE MEDS. When I expressed frustration I was told "not everyone here has the same amount of training". Training to read a dose on a medication? The girl on the phone was more concerned with my tone than the fact that they could, and from what I read do, kill pets. read more

Firstly, if you're thinking of going to this veterinarian, please find another. My cat hadn't been feeling well and my ordinary vet couldn't fit him in due to her surgery schedule, so we brought him to Rainbow Vet. From the inept vet technicians to the condescending, mean-tempered, and dismissive vet, our experience here was terrible and heart-breaking. I informed the vet that I was willing to spend whatever it took to diagnose and treat my cat. In the end, she treated him for the wrong condition with medication that hastened his death. We had our cat there on a Friday, and by Monday, we had to have him euthanized. The medications given were completely inappropriate I have since learned after conferring with other veterinarians. Please do not take your beloved pet here. I regret my decision to immensely. There are several other emergency clinics in the area. read more

I have had three experiences with Rainbow Vet over the past 5 or 6 years and I have been mostly pleased overall. The 1st was a five star experience for one of my cats who escaped out the back door and came back the next night with a severe wound up her back from what appeared to be a large talon of a bird. Of course, it was after hours when she returned and my regular vet was not open so they referred me here. I drove the 25 miles to Rainbow vet that night in tears and they were absolutely wonderful and got her comfortable and stitched up right away. They kept her overnight to observe her and treat her with antibiotics and needless to say, she is still with me and hasn't ran outside again (and they say cats don't have a long term memory?? Ha!) I was very happy with the vet on-call that night (sorry can't remember the name this was 5 or 6 years ago!) they were sympathetic and very knowledgeable. They also let me know all of the costs before hand and because of how well they treated us, it made me start to question the vet I was actually seeing on a regular basis... My 2nd experience was a few months ago (which I would give 3 stars) for a different cat who was having breathing and seizure like episodes and my current vet would not see him (even though it was during regular business hours!! And, they have the word "hospital" in their name -- what a joke!). I was not as impressed this time with the ultracrepidarian tech or the vet on-call. It was a completely different experience and I didn't feel I was kept up with what was going on, he used a lot of vet terminology I didn't understand and never gave me the costs associated with my visit until the end. I left their partially confident in the care we received for the price we paid and honestly felt like another number. I called a week or two later and spoke over the phone with a different vet who explained things in a much clearer and compassionate tone and felt re-assured. Fast forward a few months later to our third experience and we needed to put our beloved friend down. Because my local vet was not the last to see him, they refused to put him down without 1st doing an exam. Rather than put him thru that, I contacted Rainbow Vet and they got us in right away. This was our 1st time putting an animal to rest and the staff could not have been more supportive and sympathetic (they did not know this was our 1st time). They were upfront on what to expect and walked us thru each step and were very supportive and encouraging. And for that I would give them 6 stars! All three times they knew relatively nothing of my cats, their history, or me personally. I definitely take that into consideration, I am the spokes person for my animal since they don't have a voice and sometimes we need to remind ourselves of that. read more
