This is a husband and wife operation and I LIVE IT!!! The view is beautiful and their wines are delicious! They give or have it's been a while since I've been out there, classes on wine and wine tastings. They are very knowledgeable about what the sell and yo can best believe anything they give you to try or whatever you buy, it will be well worth it. I left there with five bottles of wine that day. I need to get back out there next summer. read more

This is the most underrated winery I've ever come across in 10+ years. We've done wine tours in Napa, Sonoma, Portland, NY and PA (oh and bainsbridge island) and honestly you cannot find wine like this in the US. As a red wine lover who has been getting heart burn after one sip of most reds, this winery has exceeded my expectations. I never noticed that wine in Europe isn't just better it's also better for you because they don't add tannens or sulfates. It's a few hours after an only red wine tasting and I still don't have any heart burn. So our original plan was to go to the more commercial winery's after hiking Mt Rainier but the hike took longer than expected so we found a winery closer and we are so glad we did. Jolie and Clay are the sweetest people and Jolie told us so much about wine in general. One of my favorite tastings ever! Clay is a veteran who was stationed in Germany and learned to make wine from a local. All their wine is 18% and more fruity because they don't add all the extra stuff. They make a lot of unique stuff too (like wine from jalapeños and other fruits as well). Really not sure why more winery's don't do this. Anyway if you are on your way back to Seattle from Mount Rainier do not miss stopping by. We walked away with two cases (so affordable too) but they don't ship so you'll have to find a way to get it home (they were so thoughtful to get us a few boxes to help with shipping). read more

I can't speak about the cure wine! Because we had to leave before my husband could get out of the car. In the past we have been able to bring our pup with us and sit out side and enjoy a glass of wine the Clay makes, so because it had been a few years we made sure to check the web site for hours and any exclusions, none were listed, we made the drive only to kind large signs saying No Dogs! No Drinks out side! And a talking about kids, we don't have small kids so ignored that sign! Why have a website if your not going to use it to get information to potential clients or current clients. This is the perfect little stop along the way for anyone traveling through the area on their way to Mt. Rainier area! The grounds were adorable, as was the inside space, and the owners Clay and Jolene were so knowledgeable and unbelievably kind! We did the wine tasting and ended up leaving with a nice bottle of wine and a wealth of information of the art of wine-making; and they are certainly artists! I've been a wine enthusiast for well over a decade. To understand my background, I started out wine tasting in Southern California (Temecula, Los Olivos, central coast) etc. I've wine tasted at Napa Valley, Willamette Valley, Italy, Quebec and Eastern Washington extensively. I can honestly say my palate has been thoroughly exposed to all sorts of wine varietals. I feel that this is important to know when understanding my perspective on this review. Firstly, the wine here was unlike any I've ever had (not in a good way). The wine notes were skunky and barnyard-esque and were not so cleverly trying to be masked with overt sweetness and what seemed like odd fruit juice additives. (Kind of like how you put peanut butter over your dogs medicine to get him to eat it) There wasn't traditional grape/soil notes but instead notes of canned fruit syrup in an attempt to cover up other unfavorable notes I'd assume. They claim this flavor is due to a lack of sulfates and it being organic but I've tasted sulfate free wine many times before and it wasn't like this. Also, as others have mentioned there's a certain effervescence to the wines which they explained as the yeast still being active (which wasn't a big deal but odd in a red). They serve the wines fridge temperature including the reds. They explain this also to be of European tradition but in my experience tasting in Europe I did not experience this. Not one person in my party of four loved any of their wines and in fact one person opted to end their tasting early before completing it. Their best beverage was a jalapeño Bloody Mary which was made from a jalapeño wine and was pretty tasty. The server was friendly and attentive. The ambience was decent with a view of Mt. Rainier. I think it's great to have something like this in the area and it's always nice to have unique venues to offer. This place clearly caters to people that are novices to wine culture and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with a modest amount of wine experience or with people that have more developed palates. I know this sounds snobby but it's an honest review and I'm actually trying not to be too harsh as I love wine and want to support wine culture in the area. amazing wine, great chats with the owner who actually ended up serving us our tasting which was such a nice personal touch! he taught us so much about german wines, american wines, and told us all about the beautiful property! since the weather prohibited us from being able to go into Mt Rainier, this was a wonderful activity to do instead. we even managed to get 2 bottles home with us all the way to new york!! would absolutely love to come back here if we are ever in the area. pro tip: have them add a shot of the jalapeño wine into a glass of the strawberry dessert wine. absolutely delicious!!!! also loved that they have you bring your own snacks/food!! read more

We wanted to go to a winery that wasn't too far from where we were located and this establishment popped up. They had a variety of wines to choose from; whites, fruity and reds. Upon entering the establishment, we were greeted by the owners. We were provided with the wine menu. They offered a tasting of 5 drinks for $15, which we three opted to do. Upon sitting down, we were given pretzels and our first selection was taken. I tasted the wines in this order: sweet riesling (white), razzling (fruity), strawberry (fruity), longmire red (red) and jalapeno (white). Because my husband was also with me, I was also able to taste his selections of all reds. I'm not a fan of reds at all because no matter how much I drink them, they all taste the same. This establishment's red wines were actually different in such a way that I could taste the different flavors of each red wine. The owners pride themselves in using less chemicals so I think that makes such a difference in the flavors of the wines. As for my own selections, the longmire red, sweet riesling and jalapeno stole the show. With the jalapeno tasting, I was given a small sample of the wine plus a sampling of a bloody Mary that incorporated the jalapeno wine. What a kick on the taste buds. Definitely a top three for me. They also offer a bloody Mary and mimosa options which are separate from the sample tasting. I ordered the apricot mimosa. It is definitely something I would order again. We ended up purchasing a bottle of the jalapeno wine and the Tahoma red wine as well as a Christmas gnome who I have named Rainier. The location is interesting. It's located farther East of I5 and it wasn't hard to find at all with a GPS. It's supposed to have an amazing view of Mt. Rainier but it was really cloudy on the day we visited. It's not Woodinville. It's nothing fancy but the wines in my opinion, were good. We will certainly come back. COVID PROTOCOLS: They have a note on their door requiring patrons to use masks but we can certainly remove our masks at our tables. Additionally, they also spaced out the tables so you aren't sitting so closely to other visitors. read more

Visited this place for the first time in a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Got tasting for myself and my partner. The wines are pretty good but tastes are very subjective so your mileage may vary. Staff is lovely. The owner is around and very friendly and proud of his work (which he should be!). We sat in their tent area - nice and shaded. If you like spice you definitely should try their Molten Mary's. It is hot and it is delicious! Not sure about the nursery area so can't comment on that. I am not a wine drinker. But I had the greatest time. Love trying different stuff. This is a German style wine making. I dont know the chemistry, but when they claim no hangovers. Nice ! Tried some fruit wines. Sweet cherry (22% alcohol). Pace yourself kids. Had a BlackBerry plum. Both tastey. We spoke with Clay, the owner. And he was happy to share his story of wine making. The clouds were out, so didnt get a chance to see Mt Rainier. We tried the jalapeno wine. Yes, this native AZ kid had to try something a bit spicey. It was like pulling a pepper off the vine and taking a small bite. He made a cocktail with it. Jalapeno wine and bloody mary mix. Made me think to marinate a juicy steak in it. Walked away buying a few bottles. The sweet cherry, blueberry and strawberry (burnt orange color). Wife sampled this and loved it. This wine has a different flavor to your palate. So wine drinkers will probably know a big difference. Our daughter is a wine drinker and couldn't get past the different taste. She did like the jalapeno wine drink. read more

What a hidden gem! They make wine in the German style, which is very different than what you'll generally find. While they have a ton of fruit wines, the wines aren't very sweet. They have usual reds and whites too, but again, very different. Their wines don't have sulfates and aren't supposed to give you headaches. The couple who own and make the wine were there and gave us a lot of personal attention and help, explaining each wine and helping us pick out tastings. They don't have food but are happy to let you bring in anything, so we had a nice little indoor picnic. Bottles range around $18-32, and we did take home a Razzling and Merlot. I would recommend going here for the personal touch. They'll help you find what you like no matter what your taste. read more

I have two very different reasons for my rating, the first being the core reason for visiting, the view. The parking area is directly in front of the outdoor seating with the view of Rainier. As a result, you get a good view of tail lights, but the view of the mountain is blocked. My second issue with this visit was the lack of consideration for COVID protection. The winemaker was walking around mask-less, sitting at each patron's table, uninvited. We left as soon as he attempted to do the same to us, and our server wasn't wearing her mask properly either. Even though we were outdoors, this sheer lack of consideration from the business owner was shocking. If they aren't taking health guidelines into account in such a visible way, I can only imagine what's happening behind the scenes. I will not be returning. read more

I had heard that this place has jalapeño wine....Jalapeño wine sounds weird...but I had to try it. They put it in a Bloody Mary.... and it was fantastic. I couldn't taste wine at all but the Bloody Mary had a spicy kick to it... not too spicy though. It was a really delicious drink. This is a small winery but they have plenty of room. The greenhouse with the gift store can get quite uncomfortable on warmer days but there is a lot of outdoor seating. The owners and staff are all very nice and personable. read more

They completely ignored my mother while she was the only one in the room just wanting a tasting. The wine is incredibly flowery and sour. Go to woodinville where the real wine tasting is. I've wanted to check this winery out for sometime, I finally had my chance and it didn't disappoint! The wines are very good, I of course tried their sample tasting and was surprised they didn't waive the wine tasting fee when I purchased a bottle? But, nevertheless I will return for their spicy wine! OMG that is good in a bloody mary drink. Love the atmosphere and wine. We moved a few years ago and unless your there regularly your kinda ignored. And told we could stay til paint started but everyone there prior was asked to leave an hour early. (Plenty of room) The bottles of wine cost more then the painting so who knows the reason for that. We left with $300 in merchandise. Wine, wind chimes etc... They may want to mingle with more than just locals we told them we drove 3 hours there just to visit our fav winery.Well was my favorite winery when we lived there and they were still new. Not worth the money. Went out a few weeks ago and been thinking about leaving a review; but I'm not one to do it often. In the end decided that everyone should know what a scam this place is. On the outside looks mediocre; a little rundown and gross, but that was the least of my issues. The tasting room looked like a bingo hall from the 90's and once again, fine, not that huge of an issue, but dated. The problem was taking the wine home. Bought 5 bottles, and each were $18. Opened three of them up, and completely ruined. It had turned to vinegar and absolutely foul. Decided to toss the other two bottles as I knew, those too, would be vinegar. Puzzling part is, at the tasting the wine was fine. No issues seemed to be have. Next problem was the flowers. Bought a nice big basket, and a week later, looked just about dead. Not worth the $70 or so spent. As my final issue, the owners, were very cold and full of themselves. Who I assume the wife, was increasingly hostile and hardly acknowledged my existence; which is fine I guess as I'm a customer, but she had awful costumer service skills. The man, who I assume is the husband, was semi friendly, but so full of himself it's not even funny. Thinks his wine is a gift sent from god, and no others could possibly better; when in fact I could probably buy same/better quality at the grocery store. Not only that, he dosen't even know how to store his wine. For a man who thinks he knows everything, he stores bottles vertically, when you should store them horizontally to keep the cork wet and keep air out to stop aging. Just save yourself from buying their bottles and don't bother going to just waste your money. read more

Very unusual place. Forget everything you have used to judge wines before you come here. Have lived in the are for a couple years and never went here. In reading their postings knew up front they do wine a little differently. Started with a "tasting", that was very accurately presented. You don't get the usual hype with every wine just an accurate (thank you Annie), description of what's coming. Their niche is wine without the usual heavy tannin and preservative overload we are used to. Started with a very nice riesling that was juuuuuust a touch sweeter than I like but still very nice. I moved to their Raspberry wine which was very good, then their Rasling which is a blend of the two. Really loved it. Tried most of the reds but need to note that they serve them ALL chilled. Because there are no preservatives I found myself a little out of my element. I'm a HUGE red fan and like fruit forward big chewy reds. Hard part is...I'm not used to chilled reds, so very hard to compare... for me. So I can't really compare the red offerings. They do have a very nice and unique Merlot that has a bit of effervescence that you usually don't t see in a red. VERY NICE, very different. All in all a great experience but know to bring your own meat and cheese plate as they only offer pretzels. Bottom line... worth the trip and different from most wineries. Would have stayed longer and spent more with some kind of food offering. Great peeps, great place, DO IT. read more

We went on a little weekend drive and were planning to go to Graham to go to the M.T. Head Brewery. The drive felt kind of far and we wanted to incorporate another stop rather than just going to the brewery and then turning around and going home so as we were going to M.T. we came across this winery as well and made a stop. The staff and owners are really great to talk with and they know their wine well! They also have some very unique kinds of wine! Steve and I did a wine tasting here where we tried five different kinds of wine. Steve focused more on the reds and I went with a broad range which included both reds and whites. The folks here know how to incorporate the these kinds of tastings quite well so when you go from one tasting to the next the flavors of the wine mingle with out a hitch. The wine that I liked best was a Jalapeno wine and I enjoyed it so much I got a bottle of it. We were told that it is a great cooking wine as well as just a fiery sipping wine. There is a cute gift shop around the tasting tables and it looks like they have space for special events as well. read more

Lovely little winery with a welcoming staff. The wines are very diverse and there is variety to enjoy. My husband is not a wine drinker but he enjoyed our tasting and even looks forward to another visit to taste there wide selection of white, fruit and red wines. They have a beautiful space with both indoor and outdoor seating , gorgeous geraniums and eye catching plants. They only have pretzels to snack on but thats is ok if you focus on their German style wines. The wines are delicious, refreshing and very different from the familiar French or Italian styles. I agree with Tanya. Owners are very nice, kind, willing people. It´s easy to get there and the place is very pretty. Prices are reasonable. So no complaints about these facts. But you have to be a big fan of fruit wines. And I am not. And I didn´t know what kind of wines they produce (otherwise I wouldn´t go there). So it was kind a surprise that I drink something what we used to drink during communism and in early 90´s in the Czech Republic because it was almost impossible to get some good alcohol generally. And these wines were everywhere and it was cheap (like one dollar per bottle). So it was like a trip to the past for me :-) Anyway, I recommend this place if you are a fan of fruit wines. Otherwise try something else. read more

Best Winery hands down in the Puget Sound region. Clay and his wife have created an excellent atmosphere with amazing views, and an incredible variety of wines. Bring along some sandwiches when you come to do a tasting or enjoy a bottle of wine but be prepared for some good conversation filled with lots of laughs. I highly recommend the Rainier View Winery. Not what I was expecting, but it definitely has some great things going for it. This winery is located in the most beautiful place. It's got scenic views and a perfect look at rainier. The staff are also extremely friendly and accommodating. They really spent time making sure we were satisfied with our tastings. The is no actual bathroom which is understandable as the tastings are in a tent/greenhouse type shelter, but it is a downer to have to use and outhouse after wine tasting :( I also thought the set up was a little strange with no permanent building. It was not a typical winery, but I was not disappointed that we stopped. I mostly enjoyed the people working there. read more
