This Friday I found myself at a Raising Cane's in Burlington, New Jersey, which as far as I know has never been the setting for any great epics, unless you count the war between people who like coleslaw and people who don't. I was there with my son. He had just finished his volunteer work, and we were both hungry. Hunger makes philosophers of us all. I had read the reviews. Many of them said things like "the service is terrible" and "this place is a mess" and "the toast was a war crime." These people must have been living in a parallel dimension, because what we experienced was very nearly delightful. My son got the Box Combo. That's four chicken fingers, a pile of fries, a slab of Texas toast, a little dish of coleslaw, and a drink. He chose sweet tea because he's no fool. He told me beforehand he didn't want the slaw. Kids these days. So I took it. I'm the father. That's what we do. He liked it all. Said the chicken was hot and tender inside. The Texas toast got a nod of approval. That means a lot from a kid who does not pull punches when it comes to food. I got the Three Finger Combo. Fewer fingers but still enough to remind you that you're alive. Fries, toast, sweet tea. No frills, just hot food done well. When the food came up, someone shouted "Hot fresh chicken for Jerry!" They weren't lying. That chicken was blistering. Had to let it cool for a minute or two before my mouth could handle it. Once I did, I found it juicy and delicious. People speak of Cane's Sauce like it's the nectar of gods. I found it fine. Not worth composing sonnets over, but pleasant. The chicken pieces were a bit on the smaller side. That's not a complaint. Quality over quantity, folks. Give me a smaller thing done well over a big one done half-heartedly any day. The slaw was cold and creamy and fresh. I liked it. It's the kind I like, chunky, not obliterated into tiny pieces. No one will write a song about it, but I'd eat it again. The sweet tea was sweet tea. You know what that means. If you don't, move south for a summer and you'll learn. The service was excellent. I mean it. The woman who seemed to be in charge was sharp and kind. She took our order and later came by while we were eating, asking if everything was good. It was. That kind of check-in might not seem like much, but it reminded me that humans are still out here trying. The dining room was clean. It was well-lit. It was also about five degrees colder than the surface of the moon. My son and I sat there with goosebumps on our arms like it was some sort of poultry-themed Arctic expedition. Still, I'd come back. Food here has never let me down! Regardless of what some reviews say, it would be a travesty to taste buds to add salt to the already flavorful marinated chicken. Should taste like chicken, not salt. And I am a big fan of salt. Skip the Cane's sauce. Personally, I wouldn't even go near that coagulate. It stinks to high heaven. If I would happen to add anything, I'd add some of their hot sauce to dip my fries in. Also always order the garlic bread toasted on both sides. Delicious! Previously had good service, but when I came in this time, three staff members looked at me standing to place an order and walked away to sweep, talk to peers. I had to move my head forward toward the kitchen and ask if anyone was running the cashiers. Apparently only paying attention to drive through and kitchen maintenance. Once I flagged them down and got their attention, they were responsive and professional. Was going to applaud management that they finally stopped blasting their music on the PA at levels to reach the Space Station, but as I write this, they just turned the volume back up:( For the food quality and taste (minus their sauce) will always return. Ok I'm still unsure what all the hype is about for overpriced chicken fingers and fries. They were tasty with the Cane sauce but other than that it's nothing to run home about. The location I visited just opened up so it was packed inside and drive thru. I opted for the drive through and ordered a 3 piece meal w/extra sauce. They just opened in Mount Holly, took me a while to get here because small towns don't know how to act when new places to eat open up...anywho...my opinion: 1. Overpriced 2. Nothing special 3. Rarely do the employees get the order correct. Its usually missing at least one item....a tender, the toast, the extra sauce. Today they gave me either a root beer or dr pepper instead of the diet coke ordered I've complained and sometimes get compensated but maybe hire people who pay attention to their job?! read more

We had a great lunch outdoors here today! My son had been wanting to try this place so we drove a little over an hour to check it out. First, the place looks brand new and the outdoor seating area is really nice. While we came for the chicken, the bread stole the show. Get extra! The coleslaw was also a hit. The chicken tenders were good. Not the best I've ever had but good and fresh. Lastly, the service was great. The nice lady that took our order was also kind enough to take our picture and there was always staff making sure things were clean. We'll be back for sure! read more

I would give it 3.5 stars. We have been wanting to try this place since it opened but figured we would give it time to settle down. We decided to eat in. The drive thru looked very busy. Inside there was a constant flow but there were not too many people seated inside. The employees were very attentive and friendly. The menu at Raising Cane's is very limited, which is a good business model for them. Just focus on tenders and fries. Even the chicken sandwich is just tenders. We wanted to try the tenders by themselves and on a sandwich so we got both combos. Each combo comes with a drink and fries. If you want lemonade, they fill that for you, otherwise fountain drinks and iced tea are self serve. They pre fill your cups with ice. Our food came out very quickly. Only the tender meal comes with a side of Raising Cane's sauce. The sauce is already on the sandwich, but could use a little more. The fries are crinkle cut and crispy, but they could have been hotter. They were lukewarm. The Texas toast that came out with the tenders was also not hot. I could see using the Texas toast as the bread and making a chicken sandwich out of that. The tenders were hot and not overly breaded, which for me is good. They were juicy and crispy. The Raising Cane's sauce is what makes these tenders good, as there is not much seasoning in the coating at all. Then we went in for the chicken sandwich. The sandwich is dressed with Raising Cane's sauce and lettuce. It could definitely use a tomato. It is a little difficult to eat since it is tenders and you have to be strategic so they don't constantly fall out. But having the tenders on a sandwich is much better than having them by themselves. The restaurant itself is very clean. There were employees constantly going around and cleaning up. Overall pretty good. With the menu being limited don't see us coming here a lot. read more

Didnt know there was raising cane's in nj until we passed by it when we went to maryland. Looked up on their website and 2 locations including this one in nj were opening this year. I believe the other location is still closed and this was the recently opened one. They had tons of parking. They had a drive thru but there was a long line so we decided to go down instead. When we came in there was a lot of people standing around and we werent sure if they had ordered already or not then later on finding out they have after standing behind a bunch of people. They should guide the customers to where the pick-up section is so the register is clear for incoming customers that need to place an order. Our food came fast prob like less than 5 mins. Ordered 2 of the caniac combos and 2 of 3 fingers combo. Chicken was crispy, one side of bread was toasted but the other side was not, some of my fries were soggy. Customer service was great. Place looks like any other fast food. read more

I'm so confused about this place. They only essentially have one item on the menu, chicken tenders. You can get them or a sandwich , no spicy chicken option or anything .. salad, wrap.. nada. The chicken was crispy which I liked but it wasn't anything to write home about. The sauce they have is good and I enjoyed that but they need to give you More if the chicken continues to stay under seasoned. I mean I know it's a chain so it's not the people who work there's recipe. We were so excited when it was announced this location was opening; only to be disappointed. The chicken is flavorless and, I did not enjoy the fries. Only plus are the dipping sauces. We tried eating her twice in case the opening day was too much for business but nope. The second time there were the same results flavorless food. I love Cane's but this location seems poorly managed. Long wait times, dirty tables, and overflowing trash cans.

Went to Raising Canes for the 1st time the customer service was great at the drive thru the food on the other hand was way below what I was expecting thefood wasn't done at all and it didn't have any taste . I suggest you take more time to cook the food and season the food if you do this you will have some great food I will give you another try once your not so busy read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE. I recently came here with a friend and got bullied out of there. The young "girls" working there laughed over my order and my name the entire time I was there. This is unacceptable. Normally I would rate this establishment a five star because of their excellent food and service with fair prices and they even offer a military discount. This time I have to drop two stars because of the cashier. He was polite, but had a lot of trouble counting and his handling of the cups for drinks was bad. The bill came to $22.63 I gave him the exact change but he had trouble counting 63 cents. He gave me back a dime, then asked for it back (I did give .10 too much because a dime must have stuck to a penny), then gave me back two nickels. The bad part was he put his fingers in the cups when handing them to us. Dirty hands from money, etc. should never pick up a cup to hand out by the lip with your fingers inside the cup. Employees, at least that one, needs to be briefed/retrained on hygiene. UPDATE OF REVIEW: This was a one and only incident that I wanted to be sure got management's attention with 3 stars and it did. Corrective action taken as needed and I'm sure fingers will not find their way into a customer's cup. For the exception of this ONE person incident, it should not detract from an otherwise outstanding establishment with good employees. Anyone can error, but hygiene must always be kept in mind, particularly if money is being handled as well as serving. I certainly will continue to eat there and recommend it as well. read more

My issue is with management, and not the food but that was very greasy and unappetizing. Went in today and the place was uncomfortably cold. My wife asked the gentleman who took our order if he can turn up the a/c. He said he could and yelled out to one of his coworkers to lower the fan speed and raise the thermostat. Instead, the fans seemed to speed up. This person appeared to be management. We decided to eat inside and while we were eating, someone in the crew raised the volume of the music to the level of a 1980's dance club. Manager said nor did nothing. I guess being rude is part of his management skills. I understand that we were probably his grandparents age and he was trying to be arrogant but these incidents just cost you a customer and a bad review. Hope the franchise owner reads this. read more

I'm at a loss at how blah this was. All they do is chicken fingers and they simply lack flavor. Yes, the fingers have a nice batter on them but even the batter is flavorless. I sensed a slight hint of salt but nothing else. The sauce? Russian dressing with some pepper and something else that kind of made it taste like stale dressing that sat too long open in the fridge. Their food is horrible at this location in Burlington, NJ. I don't eat at this location, but my husband and son do, but they just decided they will no longer eat there because the chicken is never cooked good and the small portions of fries. If you look at the chicken it is pink. Why is the chicken pink? They give you the least amount of fries like it's a kids meal after you've paid $12 for 3 tenders, fries and drink. The service managers are also incompetent when they mess up your order and you call to complain. They act like they don't know how to rectify messing up your order. I've gone to several Raising Canes restaurants. I visited one in New York, Texas, and Cherry Hill and the food was good, the one in Burlington, NJ is the worst. They don't check to make sure that your order is correct. They your order back to make sure it's correct, but when you get home something is missing. They also give out those cheap paper cup holders that break as soon as you pick it up because it's wet from the moisture. You then drop your drinks. I have called the corporate office several times to complain and they only say that they will discuss giving them better training. I would not recommend this restaurant in Burlington, NJ. read more

You walk in and it's total confusion. You don't know if people are ordering or waiting or what. When I got to the register, the lady was high as a kite and started just hitting the button for the 3 piece combo repeatedly while saying she "can't call NY because the wifi is down" in some haze. I said "what're you talking about?" and then she started erasing the dozen combos while still talking about wifi. I sincerely asked "are you ok?" and she snapped back to reality and took my order. Then we waited for 20 minutes for our food in the bizarrely decorated dining area with blaringly loud music. They gave our order to someone else who walked out with it and they brought it back. The chicken tenders are good but the side order one was the size of a nugget. The Texas toast was really good and their sauce was decent too. The fries were cold and soggy and reminded me of school lunch fries. People in the drive thru were in and out quickly so I'd recommend getting it to go if you really want to try it and avoid the annoying train wreck that is their dine in experience. read more

Love this place!!! Super clean. Carol is AMAZING! She was so wonderful. She took a break from cleaning the outside tables to hold the door open for us. So very welcoming right from the start. She came in and took our order right away, then made sure our food was hot and how we liked it before going back to doing more upkeep on the restaurant. Came here twice and the chicken was raw. It wasn't cooked all the way. Everyone was nice though.
