I've been to Rajas con Crema several times and every time I've left extremely satiated and pleasantly stuffed! My favorite appetizer are the Molletes which are toasted bolillos with chorizo and bean spread topped with cheese and pico de gallo. My favorite plates are the Carne en su Jugo, which is pork in green chilli sauce, and the Albondigas beef meatball soup. The soup is plentiful and doesn't disappoint in flavor. The meatballs are tender and have a perfect flavor profile of herbs and spice. Honestly, nothing disappoints here. The Pollo in Mole is also delicious. The tortillas are fresh and hand made. The Pollo con Rajas is creamy, cheesy, flavorful and the chicken has always been juicy underneath all that sauce, cooked perfectly. I've also had the teak tacos and they're filling, tasty, and a perfectly compliment to anything you will order. The sides are usually rice and beans and they've always been perfect. The rice is soft and the beans are addicting. Javier is always warm and friendly, he does an amazing job with his restaurant. He tends to his patrons wonderfully and deserves all praise, as well as his staff. They compliment the small dining area and make you feel like you're eating at home or with family. I've tried their delicious rajas con crema, but had to return to try their tacos de Birria. Really enjoyed the combination of the savory consommé and crispy tacos. The Birria was really tender and perfectly seasoned. I also loved having multiple salsas to choose from and the red onion and cilantro medley. Visited here because our Airbnb Host recommended it. I wish I had kept photos of this place because everything I had was great. I got their chicken with mole and sorry to my mom but they know how to throw it down. The mole was super flavorful and to some extent had some smokiness to it, really well done. I asked for an extra side of rice in substitute of their beans (just don't like beans in general) and I'm assuming it was the owner said that wouldn't be a problem. He was actually really nice talking to other people visiting the restaurant. I can't remember what it was called but it was the shot of espresso with Horchata. The Horchata was really silky and very good. As much as I love coffee/espresso, I would enjoy it without it since they give it to you in the little cup for you to pour in. Nothing was wrong with the espresso but with how good he horchata was I felt like I was doing a disservice putting the espresso in the drink (no disrespect though) Lastly, they give you these tortilla chips with salsa. I didn't even try the salsa so I can't speak on it but the chips are those double fried ones¿??? Absolute gas and not oily like other places do it and still held its "freshness" Overall, this place was definitely fire. Parking in the back was pretty easy too. CAJUN PASTA WITH CHICKEN: This is actually the best cajun pasta I've had LOL. Soooooo creamy and flavorful, with big chunks of chicken. Fresh parm is a must. I think I've eaten here about 20 times now, and every time I am fully satisfied. Satisfied with the food, the quality, the staff, the take out and even their fresh flowers on each table. I have brought my extended family to try the food here because of how much I love it. Javier has always made us feel at home and has always made great conversation with my little one, which I really appreciate. I can honestly see why Rajas Con Crema is on the Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S! I've only done takeout but I decided to dine in for Valentine's Day and had such a great time. The service was amazing-- I was given a rose too which I thought was such a beautiful touch! The vibe inside is elegant and modern. There weren't many people dining in for the afternoon but I can see this place getting pretty busy during the weekend, so I would probably make a reservation if you choose to come during that time. I got the Fajitas de Pollo and an Horchata ( not pictured). Everything was absolutely delicious! The Fajitas were cooked perfectly and the chicken was extremely juicy! The horchata was just the right amount of sweetness too. There were many dishes that sound so good on their menu and they had many vegetarian dishes too! I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options on the menu and I'm looking forward to trying their Cajun Pasta next! A hidden gem in Bell! We had the Chicken Mole, Chicken Mole Enchiladas, Cajun Chicken pasta, Sangria and an appetizer (can't remember the name). Everything was OUTSTANDING! I ordered the rajas con crema with chicken. Oh man, I didn't know what I was missing. It was creamy and flavorful. The distinct flavors made me say "Mmmm, this is so good!" The complimentary chips and salsa were addictive. We had seconds. The service was friendly, prompt, and attentive. We met the owner who you can tell LOVE this place and is proud of what his family has carved into the city. I ordered mole poblano enchiladas and the house mole (dark type not offered on the menu but as a separate dish) was sweet and exquisite like from Puebla or Oaxaca. The chilaquiles were also delicious, crunchy and filling. Their house salsas are delicious that I tried with their chips. They have a variety of mixed drinks too that we did not get to try as well as desserts like plantains that looked promising. Service: The service was in point! The waiter kept verifying with us if we were okay with certain condiments as my friend was vegetarian and was honest about their beans made traditionally with lard. I also appreciate how the waiter warned me that the mole enchiladas in the menu are not made from their dark house mole which would have disappointed me and easily adjusted to my preference. Ambiance: The location is casual, small, clean, and intimate. The parking situation is not the best but we managed to easily find street parking and the area this restaurant is in is not the nicest but that did not deter me from coming here, especially with their high ratings. If I could give extra stars, I would. All I can say is that this place is a HIDDEN GEM When you walk in, you can automatically notice that this is not your regular mom and pop restaurant. You see the details in the hanging chandeliers, the mirrors which enlarge the space and add lighting, the TV in the back which showcases their dishes and accomplishments, a single rose on each table, and menu books placed on the tables. You can tell that when designing the space, the designer and owner wanted to elevate this restaurant and fully transform the small space. There were no short cuts made. We were seated very quickly, perhaps because we arrived earlier than the midafternoon crowd, or perhaps because I joined the waitlist prior to coming. We were greeted by the Owner (Javier) who told us a little about the restaurant and his wife who does the majority of the cooking and was kind and a great host overall. I recognized him from the photo of him and his wife on the back page of their menu summarizing the history of the restaurant. We ordered their Carne en Su Jugo, because not every Mexican Restaurant will carry it in their menu and that is what originally made us decide to come, along with the Torta de Birria. For Drinks it was the Cafe de Olla and Freshly Made Pineapple Agua Fresca (not located in the menu, but if you know, you know) They also have daily Agua Fresca like Jamaica and Horchata. While you are waiting, they serve you chips with two types of salsa and will refill it if your order is not ready. Food: DELICIOUS. They make sure to give you all the traditional accompaniments that you need for your meal. The Carne en su Jugo (5 stars ) is served with 3 tortillas, lemon, cilantro, diced onion all in pretty little white containers. It tastes authentic as if you were enjoying it in Jalisco. The Torta de Birria (5 Stars ), is large, filling, DELICIOUS accompanied by the CONSUME so you can dip that perfectly baked crunchy Artisan Bread without it getting too soggy. It comes with a side of rice and beans which I couldn't finish because the Torta itself was so filling. *CAFE DE OLLA!!! OMG This was the icing on the cake! No sugar or milk needed but then again, you're not suppose to need it with Cafe de Olla. As a non coffee drinker, I had 3 cups because I will never pass a deliciously prepared Cafe De Olla. My only regret is that we were so full from the meal that we didn't have any space left to try their dessert. I understand why Rajas Con Crema is on their Top 100 of 2023.
