Finding a good authentic Mexican restaurant there's plenty around all over Los Angeles and surrounding city's. There's restaurants what call it hidden gems or hole in wall restaurants that people didn't know they exist only some people that they know. After we finished shopping my wife and I and my sister in law and her daughter were very hungry but some told me about this restaurant in Maywood. He told me the name of the restaurant called Tacos El Compa Est 1995 then we headed to the restaurant. The restaurant is in a small shopping with parking lot is small. We notice the restaurant is small with four tables , we were very curious we step in the restaurant we notice the restaurant then we look at the menu and see what to order. My order the pozole and I order the chile relleno and my sister in law got the menudo and her daughter got the sopa de fideo. The cashier brought us chips and salsa they very good. Then she brought the food it looks so good especially the chilie renello I took a bite there's many flavors in the chile relleno was so good. It have a nice batter covering the chile and cheese was very good was salty but the tomatoe sauce that cover the chile relleno was amazing good so much flavor in sauce I enjoy it very much. The rice and bean were so good also but also the choice of tortilla flour or corn tortillas. My wife enjoy her pozole bold with flavors and my sister in law enjoy her menudo and she also order gorditas she also like it and her daughter enjoy her sopa de fideo . Next when we come again we need order different items from their menu.

This spot is a true hidden gem. the food was amazing, the drinks were amazing. the service was amazing. 10/10 recommend.

the food here is great, the service is great and the lady here is super nice. I got quesabirria tacos and they were so good, the meat was tender and there was a lot of flavor, and the tortilla chips were great, and the salsa was

Albondiga soup - special of the day
    Cesar G.

Dropped in for lunch on a chilly day. The worker highly recommended their special of the day, albondiga soup, which is made fresh. The order comes with a side of rice and condiments. On a chilly day, there's is nothing better than this. Great little spot but with only three small tables for indoor seating. Wish it were bigger.

Chilaquiles, homemade taste. Hot and made to order.
    Desi V.

Good homemade food feel. Establishment is small, parking space is small and shared with 4 other businesses and can become busy. food does take some time to be ready since it is made to order. Food has always been HOT in temperature which is my favorite because that lets me know it is fresh. We have had their : Nachos, Flautas, Taquitos de papa. burritos, chilaquiles and sopes. Everything always delicious. Their cream green salsa is Fire! Definitely recommend for that home made food you can make but don't feel like making day. Customer service is always great, my rating is based on food only.

I first visited while I was in the area with my best friend, who is also half Argentinian like me and does modeling as a hobby. She had just finished another successful photoshoot on the Eastside of Los Angeles, made great connections, and got some amazing content. It was getting late, and we wanted to start heading back home toward the freeway, but we were starving. We both love food and get the munchies now and then, but we also wanted to celebrate her latest milestone, so I suggested La Casita Mexicana. The ambiance was like stepping into a little casita in Mexico -- bright, colorful, vibrant, and welcoming. The staff were friendly, too. We tried an appetizer and shared the Enchiladas Tres Moles. Granted, I've never had truly authentic mole, but I've had versions of mole that were not good. The mole here, however, was out of this world delicious. Even the mole that came with the dinner chips as their "salsa mole" was fantastic. I remember thinking, I feel like I'm experiencing Michelin-star-level food in the middle of the LA barrio. And honestly, that's the beauty of the barrio. There are culinary diamonds all over Los Angeles -- you just have to give them a chance and be willing to try somewhere new. I've since returned with my boyfriend, and the food has never disappointed. For a little personal context, I'm half Argentinian and half Mexican. Although the Mexican side of my family is from Guadalajara and Sonora, I didn't grow up eating Jalisco-style cuisine, so exploring different regional Mexican cooking has been especially fun for me. It's always interesting discovering flavors and traditions that are part of my own heritage but weren't necessarily part of my upbringing. La Casita Mexicana is definitely one of those places I'm glad I ventured out for -- and another successful Eat the World LA discovery.

The chorizo was a bit too salty for my taste, but the cecina more than made up for it and honestly was my favorite of the three. The carne asada was solid too, cooked just right and full of flavor. Before the food even came out, they brought us chips with mole, and those were perfect on their own, a worthy palette opener while we waited! Service was great the entire meal, our server checked in often without hovering and made the whole experience feel special. For a birthday dinner with the family, it was just right.

For us, that's El Ranchito in Huntington Park. It's a family-owned, authentic Mexican restaurant that has had the community on its back for the last 6 decades. They hand-make the tortillas right in front of you, serve up fresh chunky guac, and make their iconic Mama Avila's soup fresh daily. It's rare that a soup has me hitting a stank face, but here we are. The Camarones al mojo de ajo is a can't miss appetizer. It's succulent shrimp sauteed in butter and fresh garlic, made to be eaten with the piping hot homemade tortillas. They have all the traditional Mexican dishes, my brothers go to is the chile relleno, but I always just run the fajitas. I'm sure I'll get clowned for this, but nothing heals my trauma and existential dread like a plate of sizzling fajitas. My pops has worked in the area for longer than I've been alive, so El Ranchito has seen every iteration of me, and of my family. For that, I am grateful. We ordered the food and we got it fast! I was surprised how quick it came! It was good Mexican food. Not great but good. All in all, it was a good place for a sit down dinner with drinks.

The meatballs are tender and have a perfect flavor profile of herbs and spice. Honestly, nothing disappoints here. The Pollo in Mole is also delicious. The tortillas are fresh and hand made. The Pollo con Rajas is creamy, cheesy, flavorful and the chicken has always been juicy underneath all that sauce, cooked perfectly. I've also had the teak tacos and they're filling, tasty, and a perfectly compliment to anything you will order. The sides are usually rice and beans and they've always been perfect. Service is attentive, the food has its charm with in-house made tortillas. It really was a hard review to write because all the elements of a great restaurant is embodied in this hidden gem. I chalk it up to ordering the wrong items. The flavors did not pop for me. Hubby opted for the chorizo and he said it was decent and he described it as "diet chorizo"--that he'd probably needed to go back to Sinaloa to capture the true essence of "real" chorizo, the way it's meant to be. The star of his meal was the in-house made flour tortillas-now that's authentic! This is/was the reason that it leaned towards a 4 star. These looked and tasted phenomenal. The aroma took me back to the times when we visited Rosarito's Puerto Nuevo, as the lady made the tortillas by hand & pressed them in the comal, ahh, good times. I ordered the vegetarian omelette with beans & potatoes. The omelette was decent with fresh bell peppers & onions but the seasoning was so mild that I requested for salt & pepper. The potatoes appeared well seasoned in color but lacked that oomph that salt & pepper couldn't fix. My apple pancakes were average. While I appreciated the strawberry compote, there was no apple or apple taste in them. To wash everything down, I had cafe de olla, that was good. The aroma of the brown sugar & cinnamon was ever present. Estrella, our server was very welcoming, attentive and friendly, she gets 5 stars for her service with a smile & hospitality. Their lunch & dinner menu looked very appealing but we wanted breakfast items. We wish we were both molé enthusiasts then perhaps we would've better appreciated & enjoyed those offerings. Both indoor & outdoor seating (front & rear), parking is free & shared with their liquor store at this corner small plaza. Beware, no restrooms available. I'm glad we gave this little shop a try.
