He cautioned the 3 of us that the front seats would get wet--- yes indeedy, wet fun. We saw baby gators and their mama who made hissing sounds. The other small group got to hold a baby but our driver said best not to upset the protective mom. He told us that out of 200 babies only a small percentage will survive. He gave us a better show: did you know raccoons and gators like to eat marshmallows? He even fed the raccoon with its outstretched paws and told the huge gator to give him a kiss. The gator opened its mouth twice with sharp teeth and let him put his face there. He even pet it on its head. Couple more gators came swimming fighting for their share of marshmallow. He told us they could fight to their death. Never tipped anyone a Ben Franklin before but our tour driver earned it.

When traveling to a new city on a trip, I always want to make sure I see as much of the city as…read morepossible while also trying to learn all I can about a city. Traveling by Uber or by rental car present their own set of issues, so I am always happy when I see a city I'm visiting has a Hop On Hop Off bus line in town. New Orleans has this service. Their stop 6, which is the stop closest to the famous Bourbon Street was close to our hotel, so we walked out there early one morning as the bus line only runs from 930am to 5pm. When we got to stop 6 there was a friendly ticket agent standing there and we purchased our 24 hour passes to the bus line. A 24 hour pass run $55.00 a person. Pretty expensive compared to other Hop On tours I've done in other cities. So help lower the costs, we added a second day to our pass for an additional $10.00 per person. An average cost of $32.50 a day felt way better. Plus when you add a second day, the company gives you free access to walking tours at various stops along the route. One in the Gardens District and another in the French Quarter. Both tours are free with your purchase of the 2 day pass. Now let's talk about the bus tour itself There are multiple bus lines running concurrently along the route. It takes about 90 minutes to make the entire route around New Orleans. The route itself has 18 stops around the Crescent City and gives you access to just about every major part of New Orleans. The beauty of this line is a few things. First off, if you get off at a stop, another bus will get to your current stop within 20-25 minutes, so very easy to plan your way back home knowing buses are on a consistent schedule. Second each bus is a double decker, so you have the option of traveling the city inside or outside. Thirdly each bus has air conditioning on the lower level inside portions of the bus for those that may need to cool down in the heated New Orleans summer months. Another thing I love about this method of transportation is that each bus has a tour guide that explains to everyone the different parts of New Orleans as we are driving through it. Lots of fun historical facts about this incredible city. Overall I would say these are some of the reasons I loved the Hop On Hop Off tour in New Orleans and would recommend it to anyone visiting the Crescent City for the first time or the 20th time-.
