Perfect timing as I was thinking about dinner and had BBQ on my mind. The owner went over the menu with me and let me sample all the sauces. I decided on a brisket sandwich ($7) and a side of mac-n-cheese ($4). He loaded up the brisket and let me sauce it myself. I went with the "Mike's Butt Sauce", a vinegar/pepper sauce that was both tangy and spicy. He also loaded up a generous helping of the mac-n-cheese. The brisket was tender and delicious, especially with the sauce which was excellent. The mac-n-cheese also tasted very good. I really like that they use full sized penne pasta instead of the standard elbow macaroni. The owner told me that he and his partner both have full time jobs so this is mostly a weekend gig for them at this point. They plan to be in this same spot 6x during the month of October and can be found every Sunday at Madcap Brewing in Kent. They have a website but their FB page seems to be the place to find out where they are going to be and when. They are worth seeking out, this is some good BBQ!

Mike (the Owner) says the cookies are an old family recipe which is an oatmeal crisp and delightful. It's not often I find a meal from a cart that can transform basic components into a memorable culinary experience but I suggest that you try it, sample the ribs or brisket, and form your own opinion...it's all good and you can't go wrong. It's reasonably priced, the portions are generous and the food fresh and tasty. I enjoy the ribs, the pink tint to the meat with some nice bark and a tender interior is delicious.

I stopped in with some colleagues for lunch, not really sure what to expect, and whatever expectations I had were easily surpassed. It's a tiny little shop, and when we went there was just one person working, so a busy guy for sure, but there was not much of a line when we went. We parked and waited as he helped someone at the drive through, and then he came over and took our orders. Both colleagues got the Brisket Mac and Cheese bowls and I got a two meat platter. The two meat platter comes with your choice of pulled pork, brisket, smoked sausage, smoked chicken, and my understanding is on Friday through Sunday you can get three ribs. I opted for the pulled pork and brisket. It also comes with a beverage, two sides and a piece of cornbread. So after paying it took maybe 4-5 minutes for our food to come out and we chose to eat at a picnic table there. I was impressed by the heft of the bag, but honestly didn't fully appreciate the portion sizes until we were seated. Where to begin? I guess I'll start with the star of the show, the brisket. I only got one piece of brisket, but man was it a giant chunk of meat. Fatty on top, nice black bark on it, and as tender as can be. I did use a knife on it, but it took no effort, that's just because I wanted bite sized pieces rather than how it naturally shredded with my fork. Absolutely delicious, smoky but not overpowering, salty in the best way possible, and just so much juicy goodness. The pork was nicely shredded with bits of its bark still interspersed throughout, and my what a pile of porky goodness. Even the sides were massive! I am a big guy, I eat a lot, I didn't even come close to finishing my meal. The Mac and cheese was also delicious, soft, but baked so there were crispy bits, cheesy, ooey gooey perfection. The beans were fine, nothing wrong with them either, and the cornbread was soft and sweet too, just what you want to offset all the richness from the meats. I ordered both their housemade bbq sauces too, and they were very good, but I really didn't need them, everything was great on its own. Boy do I wish I found this place sooner. Wow, what a meal!

I came about noon and it was fairly busy but I love sitting at the bar which was empty. The lady makes a few suggestions since they are primarily a smokehouse, and I decide on a trio of Smoked sliders- brisket, chicken and pork. Add to that Sauerkraut balls with dill sauce and Sweet potato cubes with a cinnamon butter. Everything comes out in a reasonable amount of time and OMG! The sliders are served on Potato rolls (YUM) and she gives me one of each BBQ sauce (regular, sweet and spicy). The brisket was hands down the best I've had, and that's comparing it to the best BBQ place I visited in Houston TX. Juicy, Smokey and just downright flavor filled. I polished off the brisket and tried the Sauerkraut balls next. Not sure what all is in them but I was loving it. The dill sauce to dip was a bonus. The pulled pork and chicken sliders were amazing and had the right amount of smoke, not overpowering. The baked Sweet Potato cubes were soft and also flavorful. This was really a great choice all the way around. I even had a Lemon Shandy instead of my usual IPA. This was a lot of food. The sliders were deceptively filling. I was down to 2 Sauerkraut balls and had to stop for fear of food induced coma. I still had 1 1/2 hours to my destination. This is one of those places that you hope to find when traveling. The trifecta- great food, awesome service, all at a fair price! $33 plus tip for a lot of food. Highly recommend The Nook!!
