So I called for services since I was locked it my apartment. The guy who answered said it would be 20mins for someone to show up and estimated price $45 and ok. Would be zero stars if I could. My son locked my keys in my trunk so I called a couple of businesses, I was quoted between $40-55, but these guys quoted me $35 so I went with them. The guy shows up and asks me to start signing papers, but before I fill anything out I clarify with him that it would probably be around $35, right? I expected to maybe pay a little more (since that's how these things go). His response? "Oh no, this will be $150!" When I declined, he tried to charge me the $19 service charge anyway. For doing nothing!!! I finally walked away and he shouted after me and chased me down the parking lot. Only after I went inside did he agree to do the job for the $19 PLUS $35, and ONLY if I paid in cash. I reluctantly agreed, and 30 seconds later he opened up the car. He wanted $150. For 30 seconds of work. Before he finished he said "If you ever do this again, don't call us." Yeah, don't worry buddy, I won't. Stay away. EDIT: They contacted me after I wrote this and tried to pretend that I used a different company. Nope, sorry guys, I still have the call logs. Happy to post them here if needed. Then they told they got hacked, (I mean, technically he kept saying the phone call could have been "hiked" but I assume he meant hacked) so either: 1) they're telling the truth and they got hacked/leaked my info, in which case, what happened to their guy then? Wouldn't I have heard from him? The world may never know. Or 2) they're just lying now. Like, seriously, I gave them the guy's personal phone number and they don't even know if it's someone that works for them without an "investigation." Just...go with someone else, save yourself the headache. The more they keep trying to tell me I'm mistaken, and the more disorganized they obviously are, the more I want to save everyone the hassle. If they try and tell me one more time that I'm wrong or mistaken, I'm just going to post the whole text conversation I had with their guy today. Paul was very prompt and arrived within a half hour. He had to rekey three locks so I would only have to use one key to open all three locks. It took him less than an hour to complete everything and he even gave me extra keys at no charge. He was very professional and pleasant to work with. He is a very kind and generous person. I even mentioned that I need to find a new home for my Shiba Inu since I just started working and my dog loves constant companionship. Paul is actually helping me look for a new home for my dog. The Tech took an hour to get to the apartment around 9pm even though I texted him the correct address at 8:03pm. They charged $195 total to unlock our apartment door. $195! Plus they don't mention the 10% fee they charge when you use a credit card or after hours fee and you don't know how much they will charge until the tech arrives. Will definitely make a spare key. I got a phone quote for $15 for the visit + $30 for each door rekey. The locksmith came and said it will be $120 for each rekey because I had a Kwikset smart key. I told him no and should have gone with my gut. Then he said he would do the job for $120 total cash. He finished in less than 20 minutes and told me I got a good deal. Looking online, I could have bought a Kwikset rekey set for $8.66 on Amazon and done the job myself. Looks like he got the better deal and I will have to write this one off as an expensive mistake. read more

Bait and Switch!!! I called them this morning at 11:15 am asking if they could do a rekey today and they said they can be there this morning. I told them I would call them back once I call another locksmith and my client to compare pricing and the best time for them to come by. I called another locksmith to ask for pricing and if I can send a photo of the locks on the front door that needs to be rekeyed. The other company quoted me $75 to rekey the top and bottom which is a dead bolt and a knob but can't come till the afternoon. I then called RAL back and asked them if they had a locksmith I can send the photos to to get a range. I texted the number they gave me and got a phone call back to give me a range of $19-$39 to change both the top and bottom plus the $19 service fee. Seems fair and close to the other quote since my clients were home in the morning and can get it done. My clients had rekeying before and it was about $50 but that was in LA and about 10 years ago so they figure inflation is about $75-$80 total. The locksmith arrived about 20 minutes once I agreed to the max of $39 for both top and bottom and $19 to the call center. Locksmith called me to verify the address once more before heading over. He arrives and says $59 each lock due to Schlage and it's not easy to rekey. GEEZ, that was not the quoted price. It went from $58 to $118. The call center has different information than the person I text (which they gave me the number to text to) vs the actual tech that is sent out. So now I have to tell my elder client it's not what is quoted and if we don't go with him, we still have to pay the $19. She says ok but wants all 3 locks done for $100 and he says no. $120 for 3 locks with the same key when we asked for 2 different keys on the service call. Again, the office does not tell their tech what is going on so make sure you ask the tech that is coming out the price and service they will provide again if you plan to go with this company. I was not happy that the company has different information relayed and such a price shock/bait and switch. I paid for the difference out of pocket of what they quoted since she is an elder and had a budget. Would not recommend unless you are ok with the price difference. We needed a new lock for our front door for quite some time. I got RAL's contact thru a friend and he suggested a few different locks. I chose one that I liked but as he was preparing it to be installed, we realized that, because of the uniqueness of the door, he would have to move the lock's location. The tech was professional and was able to get me in my house super quick without having to drill and damage my door. My apartment complex has these commercial locks and would've charged me an arm and a leg if there was any damage to my door.
