I ended up calling the nurse line as I was desperate with a 103° fever. No answer BUT I at least got a call back. They said "sorry we can't help you today" I asked for an appointment tomorrow and they said "you have to call in the morning to get an appointment for same day" WHAT? I have been trying to get help from my doctor for 2 days!!! My husband ended up calling the second they opened on Wednesday because I was too sick. He luckily got someone to answer but they couldn't see me until 3:40pm. That was over 48hours since I originally called to get an appointment. The appointment was fine. I saw Heather and she was nice and caring. I liked Heather she is the only good part of this story and the only reason I didn't give 0 stars! I have strep and the flu. Of course with 2 major illnesses questions and stuff come up so I had to call the nurses line the next day as I was unable to eat or drink. I called 3 times before I got a response. I tried to message on the online portal to see if it was faster. A doctor named Stephanie whom I have never met responded to me very rudely. Keep in mind I am NOT a doctor. I don't know anything about these things so I'm asking questions. Stephanie responded to me like I was very dumb, and annoying for asking questions. However,…read moreI will be switching offices for a few reasons. 1 - Lack of transparency regarding cost I was asked to sign a document about procedures that may happen. I want my physician and his staff to tell me what they know, which includes cost. Yes, it's my responsibility to ask, but it also their responsibility to tell. 2 - Not cultivating an environment of comfortable dialogue I would have liked Dr. Wessels and his staff to tell me about the procedures ahead of time - when procedures are advantageous and when they are not necessary. I understand an exam is often needed in determine prognosis. However, I would have appreciated the physician take a few extra minutes to show the patient dignity by having them sit up to share face-to-face any concerns and advice the physician may have as well as leave room for the patient to ask questions. Do NOT ask if a patient wants a procedure when he/she is in the midst of an uncomfortable and vulnerable exam. It's unprofessional and inconsiderate. The left the office feeling shame that I hadn't asked questions about cost nor advocate for a more comfortable setting, but also frustration that the physician didn't offer cost information up nor provide a comfortable environment to do so.

The staff was friendly for the most part from scheduling to check in. The problem came in after check in. My appointment was at 2 pm...I got there around 1:40 pm...yet I was seen almost 1 hour later. I had to go back to work, so the frustration was definitely building. I had the mammogram first. The lady didn't wear gloves or a mask. It was weird. After that, she began to walk me out to leave the office. I had to remind her that I was there for an ultrasound too. She said she thought I had that already. NO! Talk about breakdown in communication. So, here comes the ultrasound lady. She wasn't the friendliest at first, but as time went on, she became Chatty Cathy. I laughed a little bit, got what I needed done, & went back to work. It wasn't the worse experience, but it definitely isn't Wake Radiology. They might as well hand out rocks or pine cones because CD's are a nearly extinct storage medium. Neither Duke nor my private physician had ready access to CD drives to read the test results. This proved a huge hassle that caused unwelcome delays in two separate appointments. When I returned to the CPI office to request they e-mail me images- they REFUSED stating it was a HIPAA violation. When I spoke to the billing department they said that I could not discuss anything that was a new illness during a well check up. I told them that I did not do this and they said that I must have brought up things other than what was allowed during my well checkup. I called Blue Cross and they told me that the office was improperly coding the visit and this should not have occurred. I will not be going to Village Family Care anymore or any Novant affiliated office.
