Very professional and coordinated work so no mistakes are made at all, incredible amount of paperwork verified and signed by everyone involved to confirm what is being done. The care and compassion exercised by the team reassures the patient that the outcome will be the best. Great place to have surgery, wish all hospitals would learn from them. Absolutely phenomenal experience here! From the front desk to the nurses (Lauren is amazing!), to the nurse anesthetist, Stephanie, Dr Seymour who explained and allowed me to watch him perform the nerve block to the surgeon Dr Marc Wood! Fantastic staff, everyone took time to explain everything, clean and quiet waiting area and overall a wonderful experience. Surgery is no fun but the staff's professionalism and kindness made for a less nerve-wracking experience. Side note - parking can be tough. Good preoperative and surgery experience. HOWEVER, incompetent post op. Nurses didn't read anthesistia Dr instructions, treated us like children and spent time explaining why they couldn't do something rather than concentrating on the pain situation. Didn't make sure a critical prescription was called in to a pharmacy (it wasn't). Rushed discharge when it was close to 5pm rather than making sure a catheter wasn't needed. We ended up at the Emergency Department at midnight to get a catheter. Phone message complaining about the service was not returned. Do not recommend!! read more

I cannot say enough about how impressed I was with this place! My 7 year old son went here to have his tonsils and adenoids removed. I was a nervous WRECK and so was my son!!! He had been dreading the surgery for months. The staff here were so nice, friendly, patient, and caring that it immediately put me at ease. The check in process was smooth and easy thanks to paperwork and financial being completed beforehand. When it was time for my son to go to pre-op, the nurses were so friendly and patient with him because he was definitely not happy to be there. They even gave him a little stuffed animal! They were very reassuring and answered any and all questions I had. As soon as the surgery was over the doctor immediately came out to update me and let me know how it went and how my baby was doing. They called me back to recovery as soon as he was waking up so that I could be there to comfort him. They gave very clear discharge instructions and continued to patiently answer all of my questions. They even followed up with us the next day to see how he was doing. I definitely recommend this center for your outpatient surgery needs. read more

Look, I know that reviewing hospitals and surgery centers is sort of weird but hear me out! Most everyone is going to eventually be in one so they are useful! I ended up at Capital City Surgery Center for an out-patient, wrist surgery. Overall it was a solid experience, their staff is very patient and soothing which is important because you're jittery AF before you go into surgery! Check-in was easy, take your temp, sign in your information and then wait a bit before the check-in/insurance information is taken. I get called into an insurance counselor, they go over the basic numbers (it's not cheap) and then get your identification band. Next up is the prep nurse, you head on back, get weighed, go to the bathroom and get dressed down. Take off your clothes, valuables in a bag, put on your hospital gown and grippy socks, your pre-surgery nurse comes in next. You get your vitals taken and they start the pre-drip for your anesthesia. From there, things get blurry. I meet my doctor-surgeon, anesthesiologist, and operating room nurse. Get wheeled in, lots of bright lights and.... Next thing you know you're in your bed, waking up and trying to figure out what happened. 30 minutes later, I'm wheeled out to my friends car and we are headed home. What can I say but from what I remember, Capital City Surgery Center did a great job. Professional, on time and the surgery has gone well. While I'm guessing they are NOT cheap, your life is in their hands so you don't want to skimp here. The location is fine, in E. Raleigh and the whole surgical process was relatively painless. So a thumbs-up for Capital City Surgery Center! Note: You'll need a friend and driver waiting for you during the surgery. And for the ride home! read more

First, I want to thank the other helpers who took the time to review the facility. There is a real under reviewing of medical facilities on yelp. I had assumed that my hubby's knee surgery would be at Wake Med and so was initially nervous about the idea of a stand-alone facility. Based on the reviews I could tell that the care was decent, but billing was a problem. They are no longer using the online portal people complained about and everything took place either via the phone or in person. They did ask for payment up front and helped with us getting this arranged. On the day of surgery, I was surprised at how busy the facility was, but it moved efficiently. We arrived on time and were checked in at a sufficient pace. My husband was out of surgery and back home within 3.5 hours which is what they quoted us. The nursing staff was very nice, but also efficient. In fact that is the word that sticks out to me. They clearly have procedures all day and so they move people in and out pretty quickly. It wasn't mechanical or sterile, but just very efficient. I was glad for this because I prefer to get home and start the recovery process. My husband received his tens machine at bedside and I was given instructions on how to use it. They also gave a post surgery follow call with 24hours. I recently spent several hours at Capital City Surgery Center while someone I knew had an operation (yes, yes, I was the DD). I've spend some time at Hospitals and Surgery Centers throughout my life, and CCSC was a great experience in the grand scheme of things. Capital City Surgery Center is an independent, fully-licensed ambulatory surgery center providing multi-specialty outpatient surgical services. The center was formed as a joint venture between WakeMed Health & Hospitals and community-based physicians from throughout the Triangle operate here. The center has six operating rooms and three procedure rooms with an influx of different doctors specializing in general orthopedics, hand surgery, spine, ENT, ophthalmology, general surgery and urology. I won't be reviewing the specific doctor that I interacted with, but rather the facility itself as well as the center's nursing staff. The center has lots of parking, easy access to enter and exit and a comfortable sitting area. They've got fresh coffee, tea and even hot coco for people waiting and all the staff I interacted with were professional and compassionate in a surgical situation. The nurses that work for the center were top notch! They provided me with heated blankets while I waited for my friend to be taken into surgery and made me feel comfortable and safe throughout the whole experience. The center has free wifi access and a tv/magazines in the waiting room, as well as a small area with children's toys. I would definitely recommend Capital City Surgery Center for outpatient surgical needs and would feel very comfortable visiting the facility in the future if needed. read more

I had cataract surgery on my right eye. Everyone was very nice and receptive to my needs. The building was very clean and well set up. Everything ran very smoothly except for my rolling veins which required several sticks to obtain a good connection. I wasn't aware of anything during the actual removal of the old lense or incertion of the new one. I saw both the anesthesiologist and Dr. Dahringer before the surgery where they provided information, and I could ask any questions before surgery. They also reviewed information about me with me. My husband was able to wait in the preparation room for me, and he was presented with after care information in writing after surgery. My husband could have done a better job of going over those instructions before I returned to my afternoon appointment at the office. I didn't know I had glasses to wear until I rode home and all the way back to the office. But that was on him. The bag contained sunglasses and thorough after care instructions and information. Overall my experience was great, and if needed, I would be pleased to be in their care at the Capital City Surgery Center again. I have had eye drops that I have used at home, and everything seems to be healing very well. I have had followup from my eye doctor, and I go back to see him again soon. At that time, my eye should be healed enough to get new glasses, and no more cataract issues in that right eye. Let me start by saying as part of my job, I handle complaints for a healthcare facility, so I recognize people/systems don't always run according to plan. Overall, this was a borderline ok. Some interactions were a 1 while others were a 5, to me that's a 2 overall. First, their net based pt portal is not user friendly. Not at all. Makes even less sense because they still want to go over the info with you on the phone preop and when you arrive. The preop call I had with the nurse was actually helpful, going over meds and what time to arrive, etc. My thought was, if you recognize the online check-in is not user friendly and you need to go over it with me on the phone, then why run me thru a frustrating online check in? It did not save any time, the online check in took me much more time to complete than the by phone process. I was told to pull up to the front, covered portico and go in and ask for a wheelchair. The only problem with that is the only wheelchair accessible sidewalk led you to a door (the first one you reach in the drive) that doesn't direct you to the lobby. It was confusing. I saw two other pts after me get locked in the "wrong" lobby. They knocked on the door until someone let them in the actual lobby. Why people arriving for surgery need to go through this, I have no idea. Wheelchairs were not readily accessible, my driver came out saying..it's a cluster in there. So much for first impressions. Once inside, the lobby was modern and clean. The initial check-in person (Kristen?) was kind and efficient. The nurses in pre-op were great (Nurse Jessica, Renee?, Houston), they were all excellent. Kind, helpful and above and beyond in my opinion. A real credit to their professions and the business. It was a very stressful situation for me and I was in a lot of pain. I was very appreciative of their help. The other professions were great too. Surgery went well. The nurses in recovery rushed me out while I was still groggy and while I wasn't ready to go, I was done with the whole experience at that point. Funny, I got a call from the center the following day asking me to fill a pt satisfaction survey they'd given me upon d/c. I went thru all the paperwork, we did not get a survey. So, my feedback is here. Nice place, some nice people, just room for improvement. Keep that in mind while visiting to help keep frustrations in place. read more

The facility and experience is nice. There isn't a long wait for the your surgery, the staff is friendly, and compared to a hospital setting - this definitely doesn't feel intimidating and sterile. It's more casual and homey. The layout is great because it's an easy entrance to the waiting room, enter surgery room on the same floor, then different exit to your car straight from recovery room. Very cool. The main two qualms I've read about and noticed are: 1. Financial, and 2. You leave early. Financial - I did notice a woman called me on a Friday and very aggressively explained that I had to come up with 2.5k for my Wednesday surgery, even after I explained that I was with my daughter visiting my Mom in the mountains who was making breakfast. It really put a damper on our day. The following Monday I called and spoke with the managers and was able to figure out a manageable solution. If you get an aggressive call about finances - don't let it go to heart I suppose. I think it's just one of the people who work there, speak to multiple people and have them get to know your exact situation. Remember that an outpatient facility is always going to be cheaper than a hospital. 2. Yes, they do kinda rush you out of there. And in prior surgeries I've always been the girl who's pulling out the IVs and falling down the hallway - and even for me it was a little fast. I was happy to be in the car, but yes they don't really have you waking up at your leisure. If you like to take it slow after surgery - I'm sure they would accommodate you. The office staff is very professional and friendly. The surgeons come out to the waiting area to speak to the families of the patients. Very impressed with the office. And the coffee station is awesome! Bring a coat, very chilly in waiting area, even on a hot July day. read more

Nice facility. Clean. Ample sized waiting area. They were busy when we arrived but I was acknowledged right away and got checked in.

I had surgery there last month. I had to correct them 3 times when there to make sure that they were doing the proper side for my surgery. They got it wrong all they way up to my pre-op in the back, at the front desk, in the back initially, and again at the pro-op because they never changed the paperwork from the front desk when I checked in Also, they are quick to take your money up front, but slow to pay back when they overcharge. They never rechecked my deductible within a month of my surgery and my out of pocket was paid to the max by the time of surgery. They overcharged $800 and it has taken over 6-8 weeks to get the money back despite MY calling the insurance company and checking in with them at this business every week. Apparently they only send checks out 1 week a month! What crap. They should have cut me the refund the day I knew of it and notified them and they validated my claim. The surgeon waited to speak to me pre-op until after they had sedated me for a block (don't remember it), and came out to speak to me again afterwards before the anesthesia wore off (don't remember it). I have had better experiences and you would be wise to make sure that this doesn't happen to you!! read more

Have not been there yet, appointment is 5/03/17 & it is scheduled for 6am! They do not care that the DD has to drive 1 hr to get the patient there for a 15 minute procedure. I will update the post after the appointment. read more
