Worst Ralphs I've ever been too. It smells like urine in the parking lobby where you wait for the elevator. The elevators smell like weed and cigarettes and they're filthy. I just left at 8:40am because they only had two lines open with 10+ people in each line and have self checkout closed. I asked the manager if they could open another lane or self checkout and was told "No". She was super friendly and helpful....not. So rude. Will not be going back here ever again. read more

So I have mixed feeling about this location. I have not completed a review because I always say let me give them a chance. But really how many times does it take? I placed an online order which they received because I got an email from them. I had a funny feeling so I called in the day before and after calling 15 times, being hung up in and not finding my order I had had it. We were having a potluck at work and I placed an online order to be picked up. It was for 200 pieces of chicken. So glad I asked my co workers to go and ask about the order. It turned out they did not get anything and that would have been a huge problem. Not only did they not get the order they never answer the phone. I do have to say that when I picked up the order the attendant was very nice and apologized. I guess she knew my coworkers came in to complain the day before. The location is a hit and Miss with their cleanliness due to the amount of homeless nearby. They carry almost everything you are looking for. I have finally figured out why the Deli staff has gloves on, it is for them not to get their hands dirty and it is not for them to provide clean service because they are always angry as hell and dirty people! Pay attention when you go, they never change their gloves between customers so they obviously don't care about cross contamination between the different deli's or cheeses, they are always touching the devices or cleaning with their gloves on and then help customers with the same gloves. Seriously LOVING this Ralphs solely because it is 2 blocks south of Staples Center! Absolutely awesome if you are ehhh hmmm...pre-partying or snacking before a game / concert and want to avoid the gouge-your-eyes-out-prices of the restaurants at LA Live. I picked up juice and some random groceries after the Kings rally parade and could not have been happier since they can't raise the $ from any other run of the mill Ralphs. Had to grab something from the store today and this lady won't stop following me. Even after I paid for my deodorant this short lady with brownish curly hair won't quit following me. Just wondering why this store has a posted closing time of 1:00am yet they lock the doors at 12:40 maybe 12:45 am??? That's incredibly rude and it's definitely not policy. If you want to close at 12:45 then say so, change your closing time. When I rush like crazy, pay way too much for an Uber to make sure I make it in time to grab literally ONE ITEM & checkout it is SO RUDE to have the door slammed and locked in my face, telling other customers to, "make sure I stay out" as they left... I'm just stunned. If a store closes at 1am, and I arrive with 15 minutes to spare... I just don't see how that's right. Neighborhood Ralph's fresh fare! What else can we say to this in Downtown LA. We have been waiting for a large grocery store only for about 30 years. Finally it's here. Not the cheapest at all! But they sure have it all. I stop by for lunches in their deli dept. Not very fond of their Salad bar, sometimes I grab some sushi and a soup. Cool to sit inside or outside on the patio as well. Great wine and spirits section with a walk-in cellar. This is like Ralph's on crack, in a good way. Stayed downtown for a couple of days, and low and behold, this gem was an elevator ride down from our loft. Almost immediately upon entering, the produce grocer greeted us, opened up a bag of oranges, pulled out his knife, cut up some slices, and explained that this type of orange was in peak season. Cray cray! Onward to the cheese, olive, salad, sushi, bars. All excellent and a great place to pop in if you need to bring anything to a party. The cherry on top was the wine and beer bar. Didn't belly up because I had a basket full of awesomeness that needed to make it up to a fridge asap. Oh well, there's always next time. read more

The manager lady wouldn't let us in at 1:55 when the store closes at two to get milk why do stores nowadays say they're closing at two yet they don't let people shop until two where is the customer service do they even know what it means anymore and shutting the door 15 minutes early and locking customers out is really not good customer service this manager lady was a biatch ! Definitely one of the nicest Ralph's around. I have been coming to this Ralph's for years from when I began working in downtown. It is very nicely kept and for most of the time its rare to find it messy. The staff here is friendly and very helpful as well, I have been approached a few times , probably because I look lost, to get asked if I need any help. Something like that doesn't often happen at other grocery stores or other Ralph's even. The store is located under some condos but it is pretty large size and they have plenty of other services like Dry-Clean. Their parking is underground and they validate for the first 90 minutes which is plenty of time even for the high item shoppers I would recommend this location to anyone that's in need of a grocery store. You do need to know your way around downtown because some of the streets it is by are one way streets. The entrance is on the Hope St side. read more

This location closes at 2am not 2sm as stated.its been changed for over 2 Years but they havent updated their own sites and profiles to show it. Lately the rude and seemingly offput security has stopped letting is on as early as 12:30! To the complaints and grumblings of yhose of us that dashed to get there by cab/ride share/or bike Don't bother asking for an explanation or attempting to point out the time... He'll either look through you like you're invisible or stare at you like you just landed in an alien spacecraft. Responding to the upset and confused inquiries of customers doesn't seem to be of any importance to him or the store management team standing behind him observing silently. It's been going on for years at this location, but it's been better for a while it's recently started to get bad again. This is the best run Ralph's in Los Angeles I have found, and I've been to a few Ralph's. The staff here is friendly, works hard and fast, and understands and communicates in English--my favorite language. It's a giant full-size Ralph's. Rarely do I have to wait long at the deli line here for service. In most other Ralph's I feel like you have to take a number, go home, shower, come back, and they will be ready for you--not here--fast efficient service. They have the best fried chicken department and they sell a ton of it!! I am not a big fried food fan--but when in this Ralph's you have to try it if it is recently out of the fryer and hot. It's great. They have a sandwich bar area where they will make you a custom sandwich with BoarsHead meats. There is usually a wait and customers have all kinds of preparation specs--so many times I cannot wait for this. Great expansive salad bar. Fully stocked store with many Organic veggies. Just a pleasant nice place to shop. Glad to have them downtown. Security is good here, and I have seen them react immediately to bounce vagrants attempting to harass customers. They are very protective of their clientele it seems. They know who the trouble makers are. Checkout is fast. You will be glad you stopped in here. read more

I wish I had the courage to check out this location sooner! I always avoid markets in downtown because street parking is brutal and there's just so many crowds, but this location is not! They actually have an underground lot off Hope Street that offers free 90 minute parking with validation, which is totally unspoken of in downtown LA. From the fresh made sushi to the cheese selection, I'm pretty impressive for a chain grocery store. Since the DTLA population is very diverse, you can find a good selection of all types of food. Typically I would have to go to a speciality store to find fish sauce or whatever ethic item I was making. Nope. Not here! It will be more expensive compared to your mom and pop type shop, but hey if I'm in the middle of cooking and I forget... I'm going to Ralph's. Mega size Ralph's smack in the middle of DTLA! So far everything about this city surprises me and even Ralph's was mind blowing with so many selections! I'm used to my local Ralph's in Pasadena where you can quickly navigate the entire store comfortably. Didn't want to deal with getting lost trying to find the free parking lot. Luckily there was street parking right in front of the store. This is just a really cool Ralph's to visit and experience what a gigantic super size market looks like! I shop here at least once per week. Normally have a great experience. Except when this one security guard is working. The first time he watched someone cut the lock to my bf's bike n steal it after having a conversation with us about the bike. We chalked that up to being downtown. But this week was terrible. I bought groceries and parked in front of the store. The carts lock only the door so the door was completely blocked with carts. Any other day the security has the device to unlock bring them back inside. Today this guy says it's not his problem. So because of this blockage I have to leave my groceries at the door and carry them to the car. As a woman, alone, I can only carry so much at a time. He stands there as a homeless man helps himself to food in my cart. Just watches my stuff get stolen. read more

I wish I had gotten the name of the worker who saw me struggling to push my cart with my newborn baby strapped to me. She helped me load the check out line and even load my car. I wish I could give them 1/4 of a star. I shop at this Ralph's everyday that I'm at work. I use the self checkout on most occasions. I go there during my break to buy lunch usually. I only spend about $5 and that's it. I've NEVER attempted to get cash back. Yesterday, I spent $5, but in 2 transactions. For whatever reason, I get stopped by the manager and the associate in the self checkout isle, with the manager telling me something about the cash back limit being $100. I'm like ok, but I didn't get cash back. The associate goes "yes he did". Essentially calling me a liar to my face. So the manager continues some BS about how they have to deny anything more than $100 blah blah blah. Once again I go "I didn't get cash back". And once again I get called a liar to my face by her saying "yes he did". All of this was totally unnecessary and humiliating. My purchase history CLEARLY shows they were wrong!! I deserve an apology from THAT manager at the very least. They also clearly need customer service training. read more
