Usually I shop at Vons but sometimes do go to Ralphs. When I do, it's almost always the Sunrise/Ramon location. That store is just brighter and cleaner and has wider aisles than this Smoketree location. I was at the hardware store in the plaza, so I decided to use this location. At checkout, apparently a customer in front of me had a problem. Just as I came up to the checkout, they were moving another customer who just purchasing only alcohol over to another line. As I thought about as I waited, I figured out he must have already been waiting for some time for them to move him. After I have everything on the belt and stand there waiting and waiting and waiting, the cashier is sending people coming up behind me to other registers. I keep watching those people, one with a very large order, finished, paid and on their way and this is despite them having to wait in lines because the cashier was directing people away from her register. If she had only told me before I unloaded my cart, I too could have been finished and my on my way. I had too much to easily move, but at some point someone should have said, you've waited long enough, let's move you and open another register so you don't have to wait in line again. Finally, I left the stuff sitting on the counter and left. In my 57 years on this earth, I have never done that before. That should say something about how long I waited today. read more

Nope, nope, NOPE! Masks are not enforced, there are people wandering around without them, around their necks, below their noses, management does NOTHING. Stick with Gelson's and Trader Joe's who handle things well. Also, half the stock is missing in the store, which seems to only be a problem at this particular store locally. read more

This store has been my go to for grocery pick up during covid. They are always quick and friendly when I arrive and very rarely have I not gotten everything I've ordered. There have been a couple of hiccups but they have been resolved easily. read more

I forgot I had beer with me and my daughter who is 20 had her debit card put to pay but she wasn't allowed as she's u set she,which I understand. Alicea in the bakery is so great!! We stopped by to pick up some treats for a birthday. She asked us if we were gifting it and when we said yes, she said okay hang on. She took our tray of treats to the back and made it look all cute with decorations and a little happy birthday sign. BOYCOTT RALPH'S. Store Employees are not enforcing MASK/FACE COVERING POLICY, WHICH IS PALM SPRINGS CITY LAW!!!! I spoke to the Store Manager when a group of 20-somethings were wandering not wearing masks. Her words were "We are not allowed to get involved because Kroger corporate doesn't want us too". I called Kroger corporate informing them that it's CITY LAW and Face coverings are mandated in Palm Springs. They did not care. I am currently boycotting Ralphs and shopping at Whole Foods, Trader Joes and Stater Brothers who are following the law and value the health and safety of their customers. I'm lowering my score on Ralph's because I've come to realize just how ridiculous their prices are. After shopping at ALDI a few times, I can't bring myself to pay the much higher prices at Ralph's. If the difference were a few dollars, I'd probably still shop at Ralph's, but ALDI seems to be about half the price of Ralph's. Ralph's is probably more expensive than any other grocery store in town except for Jensen's, and Jensen's is just ridiculous. I'm also a little tired of being told by the checker at Ralph's that I've saved $20 or whatever amount just because I used their card. EVERYBODY uses a card there, so it's not like you're really saving any money. It's just a way for them to keep track of what you're buying. And then they send you coupons in the mail based on your shopping history. For one thing, I don't want to be a coupon clipper. I've got better things to do. We have been shopping this store for almost 15 years. Over that time we have seen a huge improvement in the staff and the store details. This store is the go to grocery for many Palm Springs residents everyone and everything that comes to Palm Springs also shops the same store. That means if a visitor wants to not wear masks, as required in Palm Springs, no one is going to correct this behavior, after all we serve everyone and everything. The current issues are likely due to the money hungry Kroger group (parent company) not wanting to have simple staff monitor and encourage safe behavior. My son wanted Ralphs bakery to prepare his 21st birthday cake, as he has loved them 2 years in a row already. Alicia designed A Casino Cake of chocolate and buttercream; not being able to go to Las Vegas for his 21st, because of COVID. Alicia made it great; a cake as gift card for a raincheck trip to Vegas. A very tasty surprise when he opened the cake box; with a fun deck of cards showing the joker, dice, chips, color, and the message theme. No complaints here! This Ralph's came in very handy during our girls weekend in Palm Springs - we were able to find plenty of munchie's and alcohol for our weekend festivities. Plenty of checkout stands open so we were able to check out quickly. Bonus: When using my girlfriends Ralph's card, we were able to save quite a bit of money. There isn't a Ralph's by me but I'd highly recommend getting one if you do a lot of shopping here. read more

Some of this is ok but some is unacceptable. Take the spice aisle for example. They no longer carry McCormick spices and have traded them for Ralph's brand. Don't waste your money on them. They have absolutely no flavor or aroma because they're probably 5 yrs old. Nasty. read more

We came to Ralph's to find Banana Nut bread and we found it in the bakery section. We walked around to marvel at the wide and clean isles and also to stay inside the air conditioned store while it was 115F outside. The fruit and vegetable section was well stocked, but for my stay around the pool in Palm Springs I wanted to snack on some in the shell salted peanuts. Wow, they were on sale at a good price. I bought two bags. Checking out was easy and friendly. Thank you Ralph's for keeping us cool and we will certainly come back this way again. read more

A beautiful store... very passive aggressive cashiers and untrained bag boys. When I or anyone else buy a bundle of bananas, mango's, apple's, peppers they do not go in the same bag as the 28 oz bottle of ketchup... I expect my bag attendant to care for my live food, I hand pick it for its ready to eat perfection not to have it beat and bruised before it makes it home... Then to be looked and treated at as if who am I to expect high quality service at 8:30 pm on Sunday night in my gym shorts and a sweatshirt. Customer service is lost on the arrogant youth of today's working market. This is my local market so I'm certain to be returning... I'll be watching like a hawk as they pack my fruit and veggies though... I'd love to see the quality improve as it really is a lovely store and it's service should match its location not just for me but everyone. Annoying situation at this Ralphs. We were in to grab sandwiches before we went to the pool at our hotel for the duration, and I was paying at the Deli register. I ran my atm card, and the system froze. I told the chick it froze. The ******* were still on the screen from my typing in my pin. She asked me if I hit "Enter". Yes, of course. "Are you sure?" Yes. This goes, on for a bit and I had to shut her down because Guess What??? NOT MY FIRST TIME USING AN ATM. She tells me to hit cancel, which I've already tried. This goes on for 10 minutes while she tries to get a manager. The natives are getting restless behind me, like I broke the frickin ATM at Ralphs. Some assistant managers make it over and decide to shut down the atm service at that register, and it was cash only after that. No problem, I will go pay at the regular register at the front, and we have some beer to get anyway. The assistant mgr or whoever YELLS after us at some other employee to "keep an eye on us to make sure we pay for our sandiwches" I think her name was Lydia or Lena or something. Bitch please. I don't need to steal a turkey sandwich. I was TRYING to pay already. I was on my way to pick up more stuff to BUY. Not to mention that when I go pay at the other register, who is to say that the original transaction doesn't go through as well? I am keeping watch on my bank account to be sure. I did type in the pin, so it might go through eventually. We get in line at the front and guess who decides she needs to bag our groceries? Yes, that asst. mgr. To make sure we didn't STEAL anything. The cashier gets to me and I have some beer and the sandwich. I guess when you've paid at the deli they put a sticker on the sandwich bag, and the chick over there had already put the sticker on. He tells me I already paid for the sandwich. I look at the asst. mgr. chick and say NO I have not paid for the sandwich yet, I was always intending on doing so however! And that she'd be getting a call when the first transaction goes through. I went ahead and paid cash for the sandwich and beer, money I was setting aside for taxis and stuff that night in PS. Needless to say, I was pretty irritated for being accused of being a "possible sandwich theif". We're 4 well-dressed girls in our early 30's on vacation, not some bums off the street or teenagers that would do something like that. So I guess I am going to "hate" on the place. LOL. read more

Although their regular prices are higher than other local grocery stores if you can find what you need on sale it's fine. Also I usually can get in and out fast. For major shopping I go elsewhere for 2 reasons. One, to save money and two, other than summertime the store is freeeeeezing cold! Even if the weather is cool outside the a/c is full blast in the store. So either dress warm or don't plan on staying long. On the plus side their fresh made old fashion chicken salad in the deli is an a+! They run out alot due to popularity. Their mushroom chicken salad is great to, nicely spicy. I am a regular shopper here at rough smoke tree. Everybody is friendly helpful knowledgeable. However tonight I came across a cashier who had an attitude basically made me feel like an idiot because I didn't know the difference between organic and regular broccoli. I pointed out to him that there was no sign that said organic or not. His attitude kicked in when I ask him to take it off my order because it was too expensive for me tonight to afford. This Ralphs was our best friend during Coachella 2008. Great place to go to in the morning to get bagels, donuts, water, ice, fruit, and other breakfast items before heading to the polo field to rock out all day. Fruit was a bit expensive, though. And the tables outside were great for eating said food before going. Every day we played "How many young people will we see making a beer run while we're eating?" I swear every place with beer in the Palm Springs area must have to seriously stock up before Coachella weekend. We always saw at least one group of people buying their daily supply of beer while we ate breakfast. :D read more

I have been to Ralph's on Sunrise and Ramon as well as Target, Cat City, and Ralph's at Sunrise and 111 is by far the most conscientious about protecting the customer from COVID. There is a worker cleaning carts and clean carts are clearly marked. There is always someone at the door controlling the crowd/lack of crowding and I actually found most everything on the shelf even TP. Just lucky maybe but, when lines get long or backed up, it appears management is on top of that right away. Floors are marked at 6 foot intervals. I am learning that it is the local manager who sets the COVID standards and this Ralph's get A+ from me. read more

I was disappointed with the customer service this evening. Came in to get an orchid for a friend whose dad past away this week. I needed some assistance from the floral department to wrap the plant in some clear celephane. The usual person that worked in floral already left for the day. It was very hard to get help and I was told by worker that she was too busy to help me and looked annoyed. And another worker who finally came acted like she didn't understand what I was asking. So sad that people are so mindless and inconsiderate to help. Plus you never know what someone is dealing with, just try to practice kindness. read more
