We went to Ralph's again tonight and I've again had mediocre service at the deli with somebody who didn't say hello goodbye please or thank you tonight. It was a repeat of the last time we were here and so glaring that I decided I'm going to post on Yelp. I won't use the clerks name but "hello management of Ralph's ". if you don't have staff that are friendly in the delicatessen section find somebody else That wants to work there other than somebody my age who is obviously grumpy. Man man man! I'm obsessed with this location and only because of Rosie in the floral dept. she's like a god sent. I asked her to make me a freakishly amazing and huge bouquet for someone specials birthday. She went above and beyond. Probably spend 30 minutes just to make it perfect. She blew up all the balloons and used the cutest ribbons and design. She was calm, patient and so kind the entire time. Like I know I'm not an easy person to please but boy she's amazing. I wish you saw how many arrangements I picked and how she didn't even flinch or be bothered when others totally would be. She made the day so much more special with love and grace. Super clean, big, you can find anything you need...just beware that is pricier than other markets, but this is the biggest supermarket in the 4SRanch neighborhood and never let you down when you need that something that you missed late at night. The employees are very polite and like to give you some chit chat. There is a lot of foreign people going to this grocery store, mostly Indians and Europeans living in the area, so a little bit of more 'etnic food' diversification will top the already great service. read more

A lot of the people in our community are now upset with Ralph's. Employees here fell ill with Coronavirus and it took weeks before the public was alerted. The employees were asked & not sharing what they knows claiming it was a rumor. We need transparency and forward thinking right now. I want to know that Ralphs is taking ALL the steps to protect employees and customers going forward. I want to see all grocery stores encouraging as much home delivery service as possible- I want to see a night time staff fulfilling those orders. I want to see elderly hours, I want to see Ralphs calling the elderly in the area asking them if they can place a order by phone. I want them to ramp up the delivery services so they we know they're doing what is right & making things as contactless as possible. Be the example Ralphs. Be better. read more

I like this Ralph's kind of by default since it's the closest grocery store to home. For the most part the employees are friendly enough. I was at the pharmacy frequently last year for my daughter's medication. The 2 pharmacists were always very nice, friendly, and informative. I encountered a pharm tech or 2 that was rude and not friendly at all. They don't acknowledge you for minutes and when they finally do they act like you're bothering them. But oh well, I'm in and out of there. I went to pick up a phone refill today and there was a lone pharmacist (blonde lady; new?).No other customers. She was tending to medication/the computer and I was in her peripheral vision. I waited patiently at the counter so she could finish what she was doing. Then I waited, and waited some more. She finished what she was doing, then BEGAN counting pills to bottle up. Then she finished... and started opening up the filled pick-up bags and turning around the papers inside. One...by... one. I wanted to say a friendly "Hi" (aka hello I know you see me) but I kept thinking after each task she'd at least acknowledge me and say hi or "I'll be right there." Nothing. She even looked behind her about 5x, looking past me each time. Still no acknowledgement. Another customer finally came, and after a minute she finally asked a monotone, "Can I help you?" Finally! After 4 minutes. She did not ask if I needed instructions. There's always a prompt on the payment keypad asking if you'd like to speak with the pharmacist about the Rx and she didn't even direct me to it. Didn't ask if I had a club card. Nothing. She couldn't care less. I'm in healthcare and it's crazy when you see people working in a profession that's supposed to help others, but seemingly hate people. Wow! read more

I've been shopping at Ralph's most of my life and worked at one when I was a young man. This is a "Fresh Fare" location in the moderately upscale area of 4S Ranch. It's also probably the best Ralph's I've shopped at. Product selection is excellent and the prices are always better than the local competitors (Von's, Albertsons). What's also pretty cool is that they beta tested the "Scan and Go" here where you can scan your items with your phone as you shop and don't have to go through checking and bagging. When the aforementioned app came out, they were sure to tell me that they would never have tried the app at a more urban location due to theft potential. That tells you this is a relatively upscale location. The staff are always super friendly and helpful. After moving to this area a few years ago, we checked out every supermarket in the area to test and this is our go-to. read more

This is by far the worst Ralph's I've ever been to. I only continue to come because it's around the corner from my job, literally. It's fine in the way a grocery store is set up and ran, but their deli needs a serious face lift in the name of customer service. Maybe these people are over worked and underpaid, understaffed even, I don't know. I'm trying to justify the careless, rude attitudes I continue to come across. The gentleman to finally help me today was kind, but I am very much bothered that someone from produce had to go out of his was to get me the assistance I needed. I stood there for a few minutes before a woman asked if I had a number, I grabbed #40 and immediately heard them called #44.. while the electronic number was still set at #39. Just... wow. On a separate occasion I watched as an employee ate potatoes with her gloved fingers while helping customers, that's disgusting. Ralph's has quite a bit of variety as compared to Von's. The noticeable thing about this store is the kindness and personalities of the staff. They actually seem to CARE! How many times have you gone shopping and checkout without anyone meeting your eye and saying "Hello"? It's the scan - beep - scan - beep of a broken society. I was pleasantly surprised to have the staff actually greet me, look me in the eyes and ask me sincerely "how is your day today". 5 little words that can change a tiring day into a smiling day! I guess I should write about this Ralph's since I go here often. I only go here when they have a great sale when it comes to their meats. When their ground turkey is $2.77, I'm there! It doesn't get any cheaper than that. In addition, I purchased some chicken drumsticks the other day and they were under $4 for the family pack. How can you go wrong?!? There are times where they place some items that are close to expiring at a special price and I've purchased them. They are pretty good. Also, it's great that they have sample size cheeses for under $5 and it's great because you can try them all. Their produce is decent but sometimes a little pricey. I haven't shopped at their bakery or the prepped food section. When their salad packets are on sale, they are worth it as well. Their flowers are nice and some are priced right and there's a few that are a little pricey. It's great that they have a huge wall of gift cards that's typically full. Overall, it's just another grocery store with some fun workers and a Starbucks inside. read more

I just shopped at Ralph's. After going thru the dirty store, not finding things I needed and many empty shelves, I asked the checkout girl (Ashley P) to wipe the checkout runner. It was torn with liquid on it, flour and other 'stuff'. She said "sorry. we only clean every 30 min." I said"but there's meat juice and other food"...she shrugged and said "30 minutes". All the other stores in the area (Sprouts, Vons, Target) try endlessly to provide a clean environment. No need to shop here anymore. I tried to find a manager...none in sight. An employee acted very inappropriately towards me in their parking lot. I was wearing a dress and he took a picture...NOT of my face. I'll leave it there. Management couldn't care less. Couldn't infringe on her employees rights to ask to see his cellphone. Basically looked at my like I was a liar with no proof. Their outside cameras don't work in every section. Really horrible service. Just had to add 20 minutes-and a ton of frustration--to my time grocery shopping to self scan my cart full of groceries. Went at 11:00 this morning and not a single check out lane was open--every shopper was being funneled to self check out. I've been seeing this all the time lately at this Ralph's. I know self check out is here to stay, but at least give shoppers the option--have at least one check out line available. I'm even willing to wait in line if it means I can avoid the frustration of scanning an entire cart full of groceries. Also, if f I am having to "work" and do the job of scanning and checking myself out, shouldn't I get a discount? After all, the store is saving tons of money (and costing people jobs) by having me do it all myself. In the future, I will get as much as I can from Target--where I can choose self check out or to be helped--or drive all the way to Vons. I'm done with the 4S Ranch Ralph's. read more

I typically visit the Carmel Mountain Ralphs, but this one works just fine for when I'm in the area. The Commons is typically very crowded and parking isn't always available in close proximity but a good walk never did me any harm. There's a Redbox outside. They don't have a water dispenser outside though, like the Glacier ones that most grocery stores have. read more

This review is actually for the Ralph's Pharmacy, 4S Commons. The Pharmacist there is AWESOME!! His name is "Kim". He is the only male there. I have been going there out of convenience because I can shop while I wait for my prescriptions to get filled. I have been with them for several years, but it usually just go and pick up my medication and shop, but never really appreciate all that they do. Kim has called me by my first name and even tries to remember my birth date. Recently I have had a few conversations with Kim. He has been very honest, open and compassionate. He understands his patients and is always happy to listen. Kim's customer service is friendly, polite, and most of all fast. Thank you for hiring such amazing staff. I love Ralphs! We do a load of shopping here few times a week. this wasnt my go to store but I came in Last night from helping a friend out and this Ralphs was so warm when I walked in. Their salad bar was out of protein so I went to the counter and the lady was so sweet she served me the salmon and fish which were delish when i got home i was happy and wished my go to store was as good as them! This store has a few good cashiers, a few good deli people, but I have been trying to avoid shopping at Ralph's because of the overall experience. I try to do big grocery orders in the morning, and they only have self check out. They don't do a good job restocking during off hours, the floral department lacks customer service, and there is a lot of talking and standing around. I shop at this Ralph's....well mainly because it's right across the street from my house. I often take my little girl with me and place her and the groceries in the little red wagon and just walk. There's something to be said about this. I like driving, but for some reason I feel this is more satisfying. Ok so this whole shopping center is new....most of 4S Ranch is. A lot of the residents and yuppies here are considered upper middle class and above. This reflects in the pricing here at this store. I mean it's not going to break the bank or tear a hole in my wallet. I'm only shopping for myself and my litle girl. I can always go to Costco if I have a large family. This place does seem pretty upscale to most of the places I've been to before in the past. A grocery store is a grocery store. Of course I'm taking advantage of Ralph's club prices which in the end does save me some money in the end. Victor G's review is pretty much head on. A lot of hot MILF's frequent this location or the Henry's few stores down. I daydream of a conversation that I would have with a hot MILF Me: so...you have a nice set of melons there. Are they fresh? I've never had any problem with the employees here but I guess I rarely ask for assistance. There is a cute stocker boy there that seems to always want to "offer assistance" but whatever. This is an upscale Ralph's. It's a tie for me between the Ralph's at one end of my street and the Albertson's near the 56 on the other end. This Ralph's does seem to price things about 20¢ higher that the nearby Von's in RB. Overall it's a nice store and I appreciate that it's never crowded because I can get in and out relatively quickly. On the expensive side for groceries but today all of a sudden they're charging patrons .50 cents to get extra cash! Rather than saving me a trip to the bank where I can get my money from the ATM for no charge they want to squeeze .50 cents after wanting .10 cents a bag which no way am I going to give CA any more of my money than I already do! So I was running around like a crazy person at lunchtime today, trying to do half a dozen errands, eat, and still make it back to my office in time to tackle the growing pile on my desk. Ended up at this Ralph's for cough syrup and a gift bag for a baby present. Why Ralph's, you ask? Well...it was there, and it seemed like a good idea at the time. Hmmm. Nice big store. Not too crowded. Neat. Pretty. I go to look for cough syrup and can't find any that's both kid-friendly and without artificial colors. I go ask the pharmacist. He's friendly and helpful, and we have a little moment about the stupidity of adding artificial colors to kids medicine (he's from England where they don't do that nearly so much, he tells me). He directs me to the "wellness section" in the middle of the store. Imagine my surprise when I find several aisles of natural products, smack in the middle of Ralph's. Maybe it's because they're competing with Jimbo's in the same center, but I was impressed anyway. Found the cough syrup, found a lipstick, even found the hard-to-find hippie toothpaste that I usually have to go to People's for. Yay! This is a five star Ralph's! Until I get to the register. I KNOW I'm a service whore. I understand this about myself. Give me crappy service and there's pretty much no way you're getting more than three stars...but DUDE. Seriously. No "hi", no smile, no eye contact, no acknowledgment whatsoever. I know it's a gorgeous day today and your twelve year old self would much rather be out playing in it instead of here at work, but come on. Say "hi" to the nice people and give them a little smile. When this store first opened, it was great...clean, fresh food at deli counters, beautiful salad bar, organic produce, and a huge section of organic products! But over time, what was once great has been replaced with mediocre and (at times) horrible. Some of the items in the deli counter are crusted over, the people working throughout the store are rude, the organic section is all but gone...and the list goes on. But perhaps the most disturbing is the expiration dates...check the dates on EVERYTHING! I've seen expired meat, cheese, yogurt and milk! GROSS! I agree with the other posts...can't wait for Fresh and Easy (please don't let me down). read more

Seriously, the nicest Ralphs I've ever seen in San Diego! All the usual Ralphs fare with little extras added. The meat department sells aged USDA Choice and Prime beef. There's also quite a selection of organic foods (for those of you interested in that stuff). Getting a takeout lunch from here is also a good idea. The salad bar has an extensive selection of choice greens and cold foods. There's even a "sushi bar" where a sushi chef makes and packages up different selections right there in the store. The results are quite good. Service here is very good. Clerks are knowledgeable and helpful. read more

Ralphs, in general, is a good store. It provides me with some overall decent choices in meats, deli options and fruits/veggies. I don't always shop here as I prefer Jimbos, Barons or Whole Foods, but when I need things at Ralphs, I have been happy with what I've been able to get. There are times, however, when I haven't been able to get the orange juice or milk that I normally buy because they are out (though we have now stopped drinking cows milk so that will no longer be an issue). Their selection of organics is ok, but I find that many products are past their expiration date when I look. I find that at this store, I really have to pay very close attention to expiration dates because I have walked out purchasing expired food a lot in the past. The pharmacy is excellent, and probably my most favorite section of the store. The Pharmacist is very informative and helps me a great deal. Getting my prescriptions is always very quick and easy. The butcher usually has a decent selection of organic meats which is the only meat I will purchase anymore. I have also been able to get some pretty decent wild fish from the seafood area from time to time. In general, I prefer to get my meats from the previously mentioned stores, however, when I do get something from Ralphs, it has been good. The deli counter is always highly impacted. I tend to have to wait a good 15 minutes or more to get my deli items. It is rather painful at times. I don't like ordering and walking away to continue shopping so I stay. But maybe I should rethink that... I have had the sushi made there a couple of times. Not bad. I don't do it often, but when I do it's been pretty good. You know, all these fancy-schmancy-looking Ralphs make me wary. I grew up in Southern California and I know what a Ralphs should look like, and these kinds of places are weird. As expected in the arm pit of suburbia, the prices are through the roof. It's always weird shopping in Stepford, because the only other people there are all the hot MILFs who presumably don't have to work. The other problem with these upscale-appearing Ralphs in upscale tract home developments is that, as a person-of-color, I can never relax. For some reason, being in a place like that, I kept feeling like every overhead announcement was about the brown guy lurking around in aisle 8. Like they were just *waiting* for me to shoplift something. Oh, well. Call it paranoia. Call it what you will. I don't know why this location has a low rating, but I LOVE going to this place! I've lived in 4s Ranch for over 10 years and have always gone to Ralphs for all my grocery needs. This location is clean, organized, friendly, and is always stocked with plenty of options. I've been to other Ralphs locations in San Diego and they all seem to be disorganized and outdated. I love the staff here. I can't recall one visit where I encountered any problems with staff or management. This location has a great bakery, deli section, and also offers food on the go (rotisserie chicken, fried chicken, grilled veggies, potato wedges, etc.). They also have a soup and salad bar that is served at 9am. I've purchased many floral arrangements and balloons here for my last minute celebratory needs and even grabbed a few redbox DVDs on the way out. This location also has a pharmacy with friendly staff as well. It's convenient for me and worth the visit every time! read more

I actually really like this Ralphs. I went in on the 16th of March looking for corned beef and cabbage, and they were out of corned beef. However, the guy in the meat department called the other Ralphs in the area to see if they had any corned beef for me. I was very surprised and please by this gesture. A couple things I don't like about this Ralphs is that it is PRICEY. I went in to get a Naked Juice the other day and it was around $4.99. When Barrons (further down Rancho Bernardo road) has Naked Juice for $2 something. Also, they don't always have the Asian food I come in looking for which is acceptable since they are Ralphs, and not an asian market. read more

I was here today and blown away at how many team members were working and with how incredibly friendly every staff member was especially right now during these hectic times. They had staff members standing around asking if you needed anything and answering questions. I felt more reassured by the staff at Ralph's than I have watching anything I have seen or read. I shop at this place on thursdays when we mow the lawns of our 'wealthy' 4S Ranch (aka 4closure Ranch) clients. I always hate coming to this Ralphs. My 1st problem is that all the employees think they are rock stars. tattoos galore, bottlecap sized earrings, emo attire, etc. This is supposed to be an affluent Ralphs. The people who work this store are scummy looking. My 2nd problem with this place is that there are umbrella'd picnic benches set up outside the grocery store, presumably for families to enjoy the prepared food sold at their deli. Unforch, this is also the area that the employees use for their smoke breaks. It is right up against the store! I'm sorry but there is a law that no smoking is permitted witihin 20 feet of a commercial building! They don't seem to care and end up driving away the families with small children who would like to enjoy the area. So the root of all this seems to be Wayne Higging. His badge said manager, but to me, he is extremely nasty. I got him as my cashier and he didn't say hello, smile or anything. That task was left to the poor girl bagging, who tried to compensate by being extra nice. Attitude comes from the top down. In my opinion, this Ralphs has bad attitude. read more

This is my "go to" store. It is fresh and clean. The produce is very good. The meat choices are very good. Employees are very friendly and helpful. (And the floral choices are very good too) The one con (and it happens a lot): The cashier is busy carrying on conversations with the baggers or other cashiers while ringing up my groceries. One time recently, the cashier leaned over to the bagger to make a confidential whisper. It's so rude and makes me feel weird. (Many times when they greet me they don't even look at me.) But it's still a good store and I will still shop there but I do pay attention to which line I get into...depending on the cashier. read more

This Ralphs is OK. It's not my usual go-to for grocery shopping, but it does get the job done since it's nearby. I usually come by for quick errands, more stock/broth for soup, eggs, toilet paper, and ice cream. I commend this Ralph's for having a pretty impressive ice cream selection; it doesn't have everything, but at least I can get my favorites. The staff is really nice, and the store is very clean. I can't complain much there. The parking lot is a hit or a miss, depending on what time you go. If you plan on going on a weekday, between 3:30-5PM, it will be a NIGHTMARE. All the schools within the 4S Ranch community are out, thus it's so packed with people - inside the store, and in the parking lot. Do your grocery shopping outside of peak hours, and you'll be fine. read more
