This Ralphs is located at the HUB in Hillcrest. There are so many great businesses at the HUB so parking sometimes seems a little chaotic BUT there is an underground parking lot. I have never had any trouble finding parking in the underground lot, so be sure to check that out before giving up. This Ralphs is open super late which makes it my go-to spot for late night sugar runs lol. I love their bakery,they have great cakes. The Service Deli closes at 8pm (I have gone by earlier and found them closed so it may just be at their discretion) and I love the Tuna Salad and Egg Salad from there. So fresh and they don't use a ton of mayo. This store also has a GREAT selection of candies and cookies...they have stuff I can't find at the Vons that is closer to my home which is why I always make the extra drive to this Ralphs for my sweet kicks. I ALWAYS use the self check-out too...I love it and barely have to wait long, if at all. The staff has always been very nice and very helpful and there are always plenty of people working so it's not hard to find someone if you need help finding something. And while you're at the HUB, you can check out some of the other great business too! read more

COVID SAFETY SCAJE: 2 I come here because its within walking distance but it's not my favorite supermarket by any stretch. Since COVID I've seen vety little attempt at reconfiguring merchandise stacks or expanding the aisle ways to promote social distancing. It's still as cramped as ever particularly since employees that are stocking clog the aisles with merchandise throughout the day. Shouldn't this be done after or before store hours? Tonight I had horrible customer service by a cashier named Michelle she needs to learn how to give good customer services. Her sassy attitude and tone of voice was not pleasant. When I asked her for help she said I don't know I can't help you on top of that she got irritated asking her coworker for backup there was no line at 9pm also she said had the nerve to give me a rude attitude b/c I was standing there waiting to be helped. Also gossiping with your coworker while I'm listening standing there is unethical, unprofessional. WTF is wrong with people ?!. If you dislike your job find another job that suits you!! Typical Ralphs in my opinion. This location is downtown San Diego, and the parking is underneath in an underground garage, which is free, of course. I typically come to Ralphs when I am looking for good quality produce that will last a bit longer than the produce I may get from other grocers, as well as certain "specialty" items that other grocers don't typically have. Ralphs of course is more expensive than some of your big box grocery chains, but I think the quality is a bit better, personally, which is why I think it might be somewhat worth the price, depending on the item(s). Staff is friendly enough, but no one will be going out of their way to ask you if you need assistance or anything like that, so if that's a turn off for you, be advised now. Also, this location is always curiously out of buggies when I shop there, so there's that. read more

I ordered 4 dozen white roses from Minerva ,in the floral department. We ordered them 2 weeks in advance and were picking them up early on September 20th. Minerva had all the roses available and the produce people had to get them for us ( Minerva comes in at 9). The order was clearly marked and ready to go. I appreciate her help. read more

This is definitely the final straw for me. Absolutely ATROCIOUS staff and management. The store opened at 05:00, so I'm picking up a few Monster energy drinks first thing in the morning before work/gym. I peacefully make my purchase with Diane at the checkstand; and out the door, down the escalator (which is OUTSIDE of the store) I go... Low and behold, I hear someone shouting "HEY GUY! HEY GUY!" I turn: "yes?" Immediately, the man starts accusing me of stealing (I later find out he goes by the nickname "Los" - presumably short for Carlos?") Of course, I retort back: "first of all, what reason do you even have to accuse me of stealing?!" Consecutively, another Ralphs employee comes from behind "Los" and aggressively approaches me until halting at a mere two foot distance. After a heated verbal exchange, their supervisor by the name of "Jeffrey" arrived. Jeffrey of course did the exact OPPOSITE of deescalating the situation. Jeffrey too began accusing me of stealing; and adamantly demanded I show him a receipt. I retort: "I could have thrown the receipt, what would that prove? Check your CCTV footage." Jeffrey then says in doubtful tone: "oh yeah? Where could you have thrown it?" Me: "in the trash, where else? You gonna go diving in to look for it? What are you guys' names? NONE of you have any name tags." Jeffrey refused to give names. I told him a first name is a very least requirement as it is company policy to wear a name tag. Jeffrey continued arguing otherwise, using the excuse of "we're overnight/graveyard, so we don't have to wear our name tag." I retort: "legally and per company policy/contract: YES, YOU DO... Once the store opens for public business hours, a name tag is required." I had to ask another employee for the names of the party of three. Said employee was able to provide Jeffrey and "Los's" names, but she didn't know the name of the second one I encountered whom aggressively approached me. Said employee then asked Jeffrey for the other male employee's name -- Jeffrey's response: "I don't know, he wasn't wearing a name tag." Jeez, and this Jeffrey guy is supposed to be a supervisor? A supervisor really cannot account for his own staff? I will be getting in touch with store director Scott; and with his corporate chain of command plus HR department. My legal team is looking into defamation; and even assault charges for the aggressive guy. As a professional athlete and public figure, I cannot tolerate allowing incompetent wannabe bullies to get away with this type of behavior. Who knows how many other patrons/CUSTOMERS the party of three (or even more) have harassed like this. These guys will be reprimanded. read more

Customer service has slipped big time! Went in to pick up a prescription and some cigarettes. Asked for assistance at self check, they told me to ask one of the baggers. Asked one of the baggers, her reply was she was under age. Crappy response, should have said I can't because I'm under age but let me get someone to help you. Finally, went to last checker closest to the pharmacy, she tells me to get into one of the lines and someone can help. Shitty customer service all around, from their front end. Should have asked for a manager. Michael and Ally are the only ones on their front end that constantly deliver awesome customer service and will now only shop when I see them working. A big selection of products and an occasional sale only goes so far. I'm disabled, and I have disabled placards for my 3 disabilities; also because I need to carry my groceries and work together with my service pup. But Ralph's has said "Who cares!" to the disabled community by swapping the disabled spots out front for online shopper parking spaces. That's right...my medical needs got trumped by a delivery driver who's going to be in the store for 5-10 minutes. Now, after COVID-19, people have medical issues that require them to park closer. After giving Ralph's my business for 25 years, this is what I get? A slap in the face? I nearly collapsed when I last tried to get a single hand basket of groceries. Outrageous! Do not go to this store. I witnessed an incredibly rude cashier who should be terminated immediately. This review is about Bibiana T. A single dad with his disabled son were checking out in front of me on 5/19/2024. She proceeded to scan his groceries and dump them at the end of the checkout stand without offering to bag groceries or ask another employee to assist. She rung up his order, the man paid and then she continued to ring up the next two people in line. Everyone else's groceries were being tossed to the end of the check stand which cause their food items to crush the single mans groceries as he was trying to bag his groceries with his son. There was nowhere for the other two patrons to bag groceries as she piled everyone's order into one space. We had to dig out our food items and bag them while still in the check stand. She should be terminated! Bibiana displayed such a huge lack of respect for this man and his son. She shouldn't be working with the general public. read more

Do not order online from this company!! They do not honor their advertised prices. I placed and order for $76 dollars and scheduled it for pick up the next day. Later that week I noticed on my bank statement I had been charged another $60. They did not tell me this when I picked up my order. I contacted customer service and never heard back from them. I took the survey and never heard back from them. I reached out on social media and their response was the sale had ended so I paid that price for the day. I picked it up. I'm going to make this short and unsweet. The staff walks around as if they all rate black a gown and gavel and their own courtroom. Then the way they have their store organized, I'm left wondering which either blind or 3 year old was in charge of that project because they have sausage on one end with the other meat then more sausage alllllll the way on the opposite side of the store and of course that's where mine was... I left my cart and went down there as a last stitch effort before I imputed into the app I was working for that it was not found and started in looking for a substitute. Sure enough it was there. So I grab it and power walk back to where I left my cart and it's gone. I ask 3 employees before finally getting actual words in response and not just a blank stare and I went to get it up front where in the 60 seconds I was away from it somebody swooped in and wheeled it. They have their sauerkraut in 3 different spots 1 refrigerated and 2 not refrigerated... between the lackluster app that I was shopping from and this store, it took me twice the amount of time of time to finally get out of there and then this loud and I mean loud alarm goes off as soon as I get to the door before I even go through it I just looked at the security guard and he smiled at me and nodded for me to go... the only decent one with an actual functioning brain out of all employees that I encountered... probably because he doesn't work for Ralph's...I also got an attitude checking out after spending $60 for the customer and $50 for my self ... they were treating me as if I was some thief who was in there roaming and not buying anything... I know that this location gets a lot of that but use your brain to a) differentiate between a customer and a thief who's merely trespassing and loitering and then b) to spent less time joking around, whispering and giggling with eachother and more time organizing your store. Gonna start by saying I'm sure the homeless problem is way worse than I can imagine at this location. That being said I came in there with my toddler today and saw 2 employees chase homeless men out twice and attempt to fight both of them. The first one was begging for his wallet back while being screamed at and told to "F" off, again in front of my 3 year old. The second was outside and the one employee took a metal trash can lid and antagonized the homeless guy all the way to university. Literally trying to fight him through the entire parking lot. Like I said the homeless problem is bad but I'm not coming to Ralph's and paying the prices to shop here to watch your employees chase down and try to fight homeless people. After completing my purchase with the cashier Michael and stepping outside, I was confronted by an unprofessional and disrespectful security guard. He abruptly asked if I had paid for the salad, to which I replied, taken aback, 'What do you think?' His demeanor remained rude as he demanded to see a receipt. I insisted he follow me inside to verify with Michael, who confirmed my payment. This encounter left me feeling deeply annoyed and disrespected. This Ralph's store has new operating hours from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm in order to do inventory and stock the shelves during the hours that they're closed. The Ralph's employees monitor the doors during the busiest hours, which are typically around opening hours (8:00 am) and they will let in groups of 25 people until the crowd has slowed to a trickle. Items like paper products, meat, bread, eggs, and water will be limited to two items per customer and let's be honest, that's all you need right now. The Starbucks inside the front door is operational but please be aware that if you show up when the lines are being monitored you will also have to wait your turn even if you "just want a cup of coffee." Thank you Ralph's and your employees for doing what you do - the right thing... THANK YOU! - *As long as the world is in an unpredictable place with the coronavirus dictating our lives and schedules, I'm going to review businesses who are still operating to provide us some sense of normalcy, and this is one of those reviews. No Apple Pay!! How am I supposed to pay for my groceries. Ralph's and Walmart are in the same team, limiting how folks can pay.

I stopped in at this store today at 5 p.m., prime shopping time, to buy a piece of fish. Unfortunately, I found the meat counter closed. I rang for help and waited about five minutes (as more customers also lined for assistance), but no one responded. So I rang again; another five minutes and still no one showed up. So I went to the front desk and spoke to manager Diane, who was chatting with several associates. She informed me--nonchalantly and without apology--that she had no staff available to service the meat counter since the person assigned to it was on break ... and would remain on break for another 15 minutes. I left the store without making my purchase since I don't have a half hour to wait to buy fish. I left muttering to myself about Ralph's poor service and shortsighted marketing strategy. read more

They never have enough cashier lanes open, one of the self check outs is always down, there's like 1 person trying to help 10 people at the deli, and even tho they finally got Apple Pay, it's a .50 fee to get cash back. First delivery order: $205 total, $80 worth of items NOT DELIVERED. 13 of 49 items NOT DELIVERED. Instacart: we can't get in touch with the driver, it just keeps going to voicemail. Kroger: your refund will take 7-10 business days. So I have to repurchase everything and then keep my eye out for the next two weeks to make sure my refund is processed? Yikes. Never order for delivery, never use Instacart. But this particular Ralph's in general, I like very much. read more

It used to be such a great store, with a wonderful selection of foods ... then everything fell apart during Covid, and never recovered. Only one escalator works - the other one has been broken since. Shelves are stocked ... randomly, as in sometimes they are, most of the times are not. Diet Sprite? Coke Zero? It depends on the week. The worst Deli service - the counter person (short, elderly woman) spent fifteen minutes arguing with a customer over a paper bag vs plastic bag. She saw us waiting - who cares? I came here to look for some dessert so my daughter found some yummy cupcakes in the bakery section. It was $4.99 for 6 cupcakes. I also picked up a box of Keurig cup coffee for work. The lady in the bakery section was super nice as she offered me help. I just grabbed the 6 cupcakes. The cupcakes were delicious. They had whipped cream on top rather than the sugar frosting. By far, this is the biggest location with a lot of selection. Located in a shopping center. There's plenty of underground parking as well as street parking on top. I left my recycled bag in my car but only managed to only pick up two items instead of a cartful of stuff. The self check out lines go fairly fast if you only have a few items. Always a long line. Sometimes they have what you need. Sometimes not. This Ralph's is in hillcrest. It's an average Ralph's (like I'm sure they all are). Nothing stands out about it or sets it apart from other Ralph's I've been to. I have gone here several times looking for earplugs. Since it's located in hillcrest, it's near bars and clubs that are noisy (even eateries for that matter) so I bring earplugs. When I forget them, I go to Ralph's to buy them. Sometimes they have them in stock. Other times they don't. Sometimes the employees know where they are--sometimes they don't. One time I found them in here after an employee saying they didn't have them. Just a run about Ralph's. If I need earplugs because I've forgot my own? I'll go. Otherwise, I won't. read more

I came here on my way home from work to grab a sushi roll since all the sushi places were closed, I grabbed the roll labeled " spicy crunchy shrimp tempura roll" and paid 10$ for it.. once I arrived home and began to eat it I had realized there was absolutely no shrimp in the roll whatsoever, it is just a California roll with crunch on top. Those rolls normally go for 6-7$, I'm not really worried about the price difference but when I called to complain about the mislabeled item the woman who answered was very rude and incompetent, she would not state her name when I asked for it as well.. If I could post this review with no stars it would be be more accurate. 1 star is more than this location deserves. Unfortunately this is the closest location to my house, every time I go in all the people working are just standing around and when I ask a question or need help with something I'm always given attitude. There's one employee (overheard the shorter guy refer to him as Scott) that had no problem standing there badmouthing different employees to another coworker & that's not okay nor professional. I don't like the vibe in this store with all the poor attitudes! There's only ONE nice employee I've ever encountered at this location & I remember his name is Tamarquis because he's the only one who ever acknowledges me & I hope he's there everytime I go in because it's nice to be welcomed and have someone remember you as a local all the time customer.
