It's a grocery store that nobody works at. You will scan your groceries yourself and check yourself out, and will wait 30 minutes to do it.

Normally my grocery store encounters are uneventful however I go out of my way to shop at this particular Ralphs. I am always greeted with a smile when I enter the store. The produce is fresh looking and reasonably priced. If I can't find the item I'm looking for their is someone to assist me. As a matter of fact they usually approach me before I go looking for them. The store is clean, well stocked, has a great clearance selection and the most polite customer service reps. On this occasion the service was above and beyond. We were greeted by Mike as soon as we entered the store. He told us they were out of shopping carts but were bringing them in as quickly as possible. He then stated if we need any assistance to please ask for him. Well we headed to the deli counter as we were interested in the Thanksgiving Turkey dinner. Mike once again came to our assistance and told us about the deal as well as introduced us to some delicious cranberry sauce. He asked if we were picking up our meal today as they already had boxes in the back. At first we said no however upon reflection we decided to pick up our order. Mike went to the back of the deli office and found a person who brought our turkey meal to us. We were able to pay for the meal at the deli counter instead of walking over to check out. What amazing customer service. We will be back for our Christmas shopping. Thanks Mike. read more

This is the bomb-ass Ralphs! Who loves Ralphs? People who used to live in LA and have a car and were able to stock up on sales and who now live in Manhattan and pay 2$ for a greek yogurt! SO, I was staying in a nearby hotel and used this Ralphs at least a few days and it made me happy. There is a bit of street parking but I used their free underground lot. There's an elevator, stairs and an escalator. The store is large, clean spacious and had everything I was looking for. Workers were friendly enough and they had the usual Ralph's self check-out. I like how Ralph's now have a natural food section and they are carrying more specialty foods and gourmet items. read more

My old neighborhood Ralph's! I come here to get my weekly groceries. I gotta tell you.. I have to come to 2 different markets because I find Ralph's meat and seafood veeeeerrry skeptical. I find when I grab packaged meat from Ralph's, take it home and take it out of the package, 99% of the time one side of the meat is red, the other is brown.. I know what this funny business is and that's why i don't eat the meat at big supermarkets!!! This place is terrible. Got to the store around 7 am. Asked three people to help me locate an item on my list, one begrudgingly "helped," one rolled their eyes, and the last one simply said "no." While being wrung up by the cashier, she couldn't log into the kiosk, because someone else had forgotten to log out. She called for help over the PA twice, and asked some coworkers where said employee was. We learned his radio was off because he was on his break, and then the cashier simply walked away with no explanation. After waiting there for five minutes, I went in search of a manager. Found one who seemed to be in good spirits, turns out it's her first day on the job. She found a different cashier to help, though it took about five more minutes for said cashier to show up. She was definitely annoyed, but still asked "how are you?" I told her briefly what happened, and her response was literally "well, it's annoying when people ask for help when we have work to do." Bruh. I left annoyed. I should have known better, being this store was in Pacific Beach. read more

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate this store. Staff is always friendly. But shopping their Tuesday, June 23rd in the early evening - I couldn't for the life of me understand why the check stand conveyor belts were so filthy. With so much attention devoted to cleaning and disinfecting common surfaces such as shopping cart handles and hand carts; concern towards social distancing etc - I was very confused and uneasy with the state of the check stand conveyor belts. read more

Staying in La Jolla instead of our usual Mission Beach, we Yelped some grocery stores to better get a feel if the La Jolla area. Unfortunately the Vons received dismal reviews as did the local no name. We were bummed to not try a new establishment and instead went to our old faithful grocery store. The shelves were well stocked, the produce was fresh and reasonably priced, along with decent organic offerings. The wine selection was superb, and had our favorite seasonal wine we had previously only seen at our local Wine and More. Checkout was a breeze and best of all, no squished produce while being bagged. The best part, underground parking! read more

Ralphs staff is awesome. But the fact the security guard is never there, so many homeless taking shits in the isle, stealing anything they want and just walking out. Staffs hands are tied they can't do anything. It's just bad with the homeless and tweakers. read more

I really hate writing a bad review-but. 1st time customer-The store is great ! Selection and cleanliness. I was staying at Chrystal Pier and needed dinner. I went to the hot food deli and had the worst experience ever. The guy was rude, snotty, and just a complete asshole. At first I thought it was a joke-he was obviously drunk and angry talking insulting to me. I ordered chicken and mac-n-cheese-he threw the food at me and just glared at me.I was stunned ! Got back to the pier and the food was absolutely inedible-I had to throw it out. Everything looked like it was under the heat lamp for days. I called and told the manager and he was very polite and understanding and thanked me for brining this to his attention. The rest of the store and employees were great ! How wonderful it was not to be captive to high-priced food while staying at a hotel for business. Ralphs to the rescue! This was an enormous grocery store with everything you could want, just two blocks off the beach and accessible to most of the major PB hotels. They opened at 6am, which I really appreciated when I needed some cereal and milk before a morning meeting. read more

I go to Ralphs in my town only because its the only store in town. I have complained to the manager twice because of the bager I always seem to get. He has put all my groceries in one bag including the cleaning supplies, canned goods and vegetables and hamburger bags. The next time he put a magazine in with the frozen food. Yesterday he put a bag of flour in with the milk. I can't figure our if he's stupid or just doesn't care . I go to the store on Saturday or Sunday mornings because otherwise there's a really long line because they usually only have 3 checkers even when its the busiest. Really cool place right on mission Blvd. super clean and really great products. My kids really enjoyed the escalator platforms outside which is a lot of fun for kids to play on. They could do it a little more room in there self check out for those of us who like to check out 200 items in a self check out rather than have a checker. read more

Excellent customer service from Jaime in the produce section. He helped me with a great positive attitude and went out of his way to find what fruit I was looking for. He even went in the back to check. He was polite, kind, professional, gave service with a smile and was really willing to help me because I was looking for an item that was on sale but I didn't know they were organic. This place never has more than two cashiers open at any given time. After waiting in line for about 12 minutes, the pissy cashier with a terribly rotten attitude, tries to get me to go to another LONG line with overflowing baskets. She rolled her eyes and started talking to the customer she was checking out about how she's had her light off for like seven people now. I'm sure both visitors and residents of PB would agree that this ralphs has the PERFECT location. Just off the pier and a block away from the beach, it's the perfect stop to pick up a snack,a drink, or even a last minute beach toy or towel haha. Ample parking under the building itself is also very helpful. They have escalators and even an elevator that would fit 2 or 3 people with shopping carts so that's another bonus. I'm a fan of Ralph's and this store is no exception. Shelves were stocked nicely, and they had most everything I wanted to grab before going for a quick beach trip across the street haha. My only complaint was no wraps (chicken or turkey wraps) or condiment packets at the deli. I know some Ralph's do this so I'd recommend having that implemented. Other than that, It's a cool little store. Easy in and out for both a quick visit or a full grocery trip. read more

This has got to be the most conveniently located grocery store for those living by the beach in PB. Located near Starbucks at the corner of Mission and Grand, Ralph's has got all that you need.... My favorite grocery store compared to Vons/Haggns/Albertsons. They also have very nice floral arrangements (and the prices are very reasonable). I love the fact that they have a lot of organic and non-gmo products (it's all about variety)! Also if you check out their aisle where they have food from all over the world they actually have really cool stuff from Europe (for examples they carry my favorite German catsup by the brand "Hela"). I would also recommend going to their juice aisle, their cold pressed orange juice is amazing! The staffs are really friendly, I come around the time when they just open and everyone always greets me and always asks if I need help finding anything. Love this Ralph's! read more

Shopping at Ralphs really makes me appreciate my job at Trader Joes. The staff at Ralph's is very diverse, in a strange creepy creeperson type of way. Everytime I go through the checkstand.. (We don't sell US weekly at TJ's)... I am called "the enemy". I have been harassed here by a few different wierdoes... the salad bar is freakin expensive.. the cheese is twice the price then at my work.. The flowers are twice the price.. The good things: The frozen yogart place and the instore wells fargo. It is also nice that there are tables to sit at... sometimes I come in on my break to sit there and read a magazine or book. read more

We were in town on vacation, and hotel is in walking distance. They do have underground parking. Store was small, clean. Never saw an employee to help. We did self check out. Pricing was confusing, for the sale price you have to buy like 6 of an item. Were flying so cant take 6 eye solutions home to save a dollar. In texas, our go to store is heb. If they have a sale 4 for 5.00, they ring up the 1.25 each.. so buying 5 isnt required. It was closer than cvs down the street, about same price. Box of bandaids was 4.99, contact solution was 3.99, aloe was 5.99, and sunscreen was 14.99 Did make 2nd trip. Its only store near hotels. So its convient read more

I love Ralph's. I grew up as a spawn of Wegmans and have lived most of the last decade making my shopping a pleasure at Publix. The underground parking at this Ralph's makes it great. You return to a nice cool car and don't have to worry about parking far away. Our daughter loves the shopping cart friendly people mover. While not as large as the La Jolla store, this one easily eclipses any Vons or Haggen on class. The store is always bright and clean. The shelves are always stocked and produce and meats fresh. The staff is always friendly and eager to help. The only drawback (no fault of the store) is the regular presence of transients and beggars. Almost always a bum out front looking for some change :( Love these store and worth the ride from north PB and LJ to avoid the sub par competition! read more

The location makes it convenient if you are on foot but it's a pain if you are a local and need to get some groceries. You basically need to navigate your cart through all the drunk people trying to buy more beer- then again this is PB so that is to be expected. In terms of the fruit selection it is hit or miss. If they just put it out it is fresh but it goes fast and then the shelves are empty. The meat section is usually pretty empty in terms of variety. read more

This pharmacy is awesome! They have tons of cheap generics available and very affordable. The staff is very friendly and really accommodating. They had to special order a medication for me and spoke with my doctor to get a less expensive alternate drug. The pharmacy was also able to transfer all my drugs over from CVS pharmacy, due to their lack of good customer service. Absolutely LOVE Ralph's pharmacy and I will continuing getting my medication there! read more

thank goodness for a grocery store near mission beach! I was staying at the bahia and getting groceries and fixing a few meals at the hotel saved me a few bucks. they have boars head deli meat and decent fruits and vegetables. maybe it's beach prices or maybe it's california, but $4 for a dozen eggs and $5 per lb for pork chops? that is higher than expensive DC prices! but their seafood was pretty reasonably priced as well as other household groceries. and they have a house savings card so you don't have to apply for a food lion discount card. oh yeah, they also sell alcohol! free parking is in the garage under the store, making it super convenient. read more

Ralphs has never been my favorite as a supermarket. I've always felt that their business is just of a low quality. This particular Ralphs for instance has had a front door that makes a terrible squeaking sound for the past month or so. And an underground lot which I would stay away from anytime after 10 pm. I wouldn't come here if it wasn't for the fact that they sell my favorite milk, Organic Valley. PS: if you like milk and haven't yet tried organic. DO IT. just trust me, huge difference. read more

Ahhhh the grocery store. I must visit the grocery store at a minimum of 2x per week. It's always Sprouts, Trader Joe's and Ralph's. I used to always go to Von's, but there's a number of reason I go to Ralph's now. Pros: Parking is a breeze in their underground parking.
