This place needs lot of TLC and upgrades. The only reason I would stay here is if I had a large family to take and I was on a tight budget. The only good thing was that the ac worked good and they had no bugs. The 1st day I had no hot water in the sink, the pressure was bad in the shower.They had 3 light above the sink and 2 of them didn't work . Hallways had a old funky smell to them. Was suppose to get free breakfast, but they canceled it until further notice.I thought because the name Ramada meant something, at least it used to.I reserved a room at the Ramada in Cincinati next month, now I'm not sure about keeping my reservation, I can't trust Ramada anymore read more

We booked a room through Priceline, which indicated the hotel offered a continental breakfast. We asked upon arrival and told there is NO Continental Breakfast and we could eat somewhere else with BOGO coupons. Room was not cleaned in the 3 days we stayed. When asked, we were told that upon arrival we requested no room cleaning. Ughhhh... we did not, unless there was some fine print that automatically deferred to no cleaning. We intended to do a load of laundry only to find out that the dryer did not work ( and only one set of washer and dryer). Went to desk and told to go to another hotel to do laundry. No one is at the desk at night and staff not present until 7 am. We were given a phone number to call if we had an issue during the night. On day of departure, we wanted coffee in the morning. At 7:00 am, we asked the staff member for coffee and was RUDELY informed that " We just opened and coffee is not ready!" The hotel did not offer services advertised on Priceline and the staff was incredibly rude. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

Other than the location, there are not many positives for this hotel. My wife and I booked a lakefront jacuzzi room for our honeymoon. The room was clean when we got there, but the staff never cleaned it during our stay. We stayed for three nights, and after the first night I asked the front desk for an extra blanket. They said they would deliver it to the room but never did. I also ordered a romance package for the weekend. They said it would be there the next day, so I go the next day to the desk and it still isn't there. Again, they said they would bring it to the room but never did. Like other reviews said, the walls are thin and you can hear everything in the next room over. But wait, there's more. My sister and brother in law actually stayed there the day after we left. She said there were Doritos on the floor in her room and a picture that is supposed to be hung on the wall in the bathroom was on the floor. She also said the pool is extremely dirty, that you can't see past the first step down into the water and it looks as if you put your hand in the water that slime would come out. Also, the lobby is not 24/7. The ice machine wasn't working, she went to check with the lobby and she had to go across the street to a different hotel just to get ice! So that's two bad experiences within a week. I would definitely not recommend staying at this hotel if you're looking for a spot in the city. read more

This place slightly beats out being homeless. Once we were able to get in the room (which took some effort due to backwards door handles) the room was just one let down after another. The wallpaper was peeling, the floors weren't clean, neither of the lamps worked, the one of the 2 overhead lights didn't work, the duvet covers and skirts were dirty and the beds weren't even flat. When we came back from a day on the island we found that they never even cleaned the room. We were planning on a two night stay but ended up deciding that a we would rather drive 4 hours back home rather than stay there another minute. read more

HORRIBLE. staff was unfriendly. Room was dirty, mold in bathroom, wallpaper coming off the wall and the linoleum was curling up in the bathroom. To access the room you had to find the door to the 4 rooms up the staircase. There were no signs anywhere stating it was a stairway nor did it have the room numbers posted by the stairs. My door was a regular wood door. No peep hole, no security lock and it was the only door with an old fashion key for entry. I tried not to think about that when I went to bed. There was also no escape route in case of an emergency. One way down the only set of stairs. The phone was completely on the other side of the room and this room was huge. I honestly think this is someone's residence. If I could give it a negative number I would. Here's the kicker, it was the last room they had on a Saturday night. Guess what they got me for, $259.00. It was late and I had to stop for the night. Better believe corporate will be getting a letter. Shame on them. KEEP LOOKING!!!! I will post pictures soon. read more

I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad. Our king waterfront room was nicely decorated and comfortable and clean. We enjoyed being so close to the water and right next to the ferry to the island. Breakfast was the standard continental fare. The pool was pretty but not clean. The hot tub was gross and really in need of cleaning which was the only real negative experience. read more

Look elsewhere! The rooms and hotel accommodations are nothing like shown in the pictures. The room was dirty, the beach area had garbage strewn about and the walls in the room are so thin that you can clearly hear the conversations of the guests in the adjacent rooms. The location is good, but other than that, there are no other positives. Filthy and disappointing! read more

If I could give negative ratings, I would give a -5 stars. For starters, the room was gross, with peeling wallpaper. The hallways are full of spiders hanging around the light fixtures. The water was disgusting in the pool and especially in the bathtub. It was yellowish brown and I hated washing my kids in it. The worst part of the whole experience is that my uncle passed away the day of arrival, cutting our vacation short. When I called to see if they could do anything about the extra night due to the family emergency, Expedia said they would gladly refund the last day, but the hotel refused saying that we were cancelling our reservation outside of the cancellation period. They did not care that my uncle passed away after that period had passed. I went down to personally speak to the manager and he refused to talk to me because he was BUSY!!!!! I have never had worse customer service. I recommend you avoid this hotel like the plague. I am so incredibly angry, frustrated and disappointed. I would not stay here if the room was given to me!!! The front desk clerk has HORRIBLE customer service skills and is a confirmed LIAR!!! I called three times and spoke with the same "lady" on each occasion, she was quite short, rude and insisted on talking over me and cutting me short while I was trying to explain the situation to her. We booked the rooms through Booking.com and I needed to cancel. I was told that I had to contact Booking.com to cancel but was not given an explanation as to why. I had canceled our Harbor View Inn reservations just fine over the phone, directly with Harbor View Inn. So I emailed Booking.com and was told they were working on it. I received another email saying they had not been contacted back by The Ramada Inn Waterfront hotel and I should contact the hotel directly. I was again told by the same "lady" that they could do nothing but I was not given an explanation I was just told to contact Booking.com AGAIN. When I asked to speak to a manager she told me he would not be in for several hours. I called Booking.com and was helped by a most understanding and professional booking representative. He contacted The Ramada Inn Waterfront and was put through to the manager Ben, who I was told would not be in FOR SEVERAL HOURS. Booking.com was able to find out that I had a reservation that could not be canceled for free, which was totally fine because I knew that. Due to this the Ramada could not "cancel" my reservation, which again I understood that but was not told that by the clerk. I was fine with being charged the cancellation fee just not the entire cost of the room but the clerk did not give me the chance to explain that as she thought she could just talk over me and cut me short. I have read several other reviews stating basically the same thing and wish I would have read them before even making the initial reservation. We spend A LOT of money in Mackinaw City and on Mackinac Island every summer and I will never spend any of it with The Ramada Inn Waterfront Hotel!!! read more

Booked a walkout jacuzzi king. After 15 mins or so noticed there was heavy foot traffic past our door wall with people constantly looking in our room as the beach was a shortcut between the ferry dock and parking lot. We were moved to an upper floor with 2 double beds without a jacuzzi and the front desk would NOT refund the difference. The second room had an odor, heavily stained carpet and DEAD BUGS on the dust ruffle for the bed. If there are dead bugs, there are also live bugs somewhere! I did not want to take any home with me! We decided we did not want to stay and spent about a half hour total at the hotel. Much to our dismay the clerk would not refund our money because it was past 3 pm??? Then the story changed to, I would have to contact Expedia which we immediately did. Seems this was a ploy to get us to leave and keep our money. The following day when the manager was in all Expedia did was call the hotel, which said they would not refund our money. Expedia washed their hands of it and said it was between me and the hotel. Seems to be a common business practice here to get your money and do their best to keep it at the customers expense, all while they do not provide a safe or sanitary experience. Do not stay here...horrible staff, dirty and truly disgusting!! The one positive review here had to be from management. read more

Horrible! We will never stay here again. After a long day of traveling and then walking around the island we went to the Hotel to check in. Parked our car, grabbed all of our luggage and headed in to the lobby. There were no lights, no people, pool was locked up, then my husband noticed a sign on the door saying we had to go across the street to check in. Seriously?! So we put all of our bags back in the car and walked across the street to check in. The receptionist was snotty, I'm sure she had received many complaints t/o the day. Then we walked back across the street, grabbed our luggage out of the car and went back in to the lobby assuming there would be access to the rooms. Nope! We didn't know how to get to the rooms. Some guy pulled up in front of the door in a black pick up truck, came in and yelled at us for being in the lobby & that the door should've been locked. I said "Well someone SHOULD be here!" Didn't tell us how to get to our room. So we began walking until we found a door and eventually found our way to the room. The beach was littered with garbage. If you wanted to use the pool, you had to go back across the street. If you wanted breakfast, you had to go back across the street. You want to check out... you guessed it, back across the street! We had plenty of towels and hand towels but not one single washcloth. I wasn't going back across the street to get a wash cloth. Don't stay here! Go down the road to the Clearwater Hotel. So much nicer for the same price! I seriously cannot say enough bad things about this place. read more

Horrible staff! Horrible customer service! Horrible management! We made reservations months in advance traveling to the area with a large group and they knew it, since we booked room under a group name. Four people from our group that had reservations did not have a room available. Their only explanation was the people that had our room did not check out and the only thing they offered us was a room across the street at the same rate. This hotel is also getting a poor rating because is was horrible. So, we were separated from our group and not on the water anymore. Only after pressing the counter staff they took $30 off the price. Mind you it was not offered up from and only after we pressed for something due to our inconvenience. There was no manager or assistant manager on the property at the time and when asked they would not provide a business card or phone number for the manager. I will never stay at this location nor would I recommend this location. read more

Front Desk Clerk not friendly. Lobby bathroom, filthy. Worn out beds, couches and rugs need a cleaning badly. Linens and rooms clean. The balcony door lock was broken and the maintenance crew smelled of smoke and could not fix it. I asked for another room and got an upgrade to kingsize bed. But the bed felt like an elephant had slept in it and the couch looked like it came from good will. The whole hotel looked shabby and worn out. Location was good, right next to the Ferry. Continental breakfast was good and the staff there was very personable. We will never stay there again. read more
