Belvada Hotel - Good coffee! There's also a little cafe off the lobby with more options.

    Belvada Hotel

Extremely unique, clean, good hotel in the middle of Nevada desert…read more We choose the Belvada as a stop over during our trip to Vegas as a place to rest before going on. This was a great decision. We got one of the suites which was one of the most unique hotel rooms I've ever stayed in complete with 19th century French books and turn of the 20th century charm. Our suite was unique with a smallish living room connecting to an old timey bedroom and bathroom. Everything was clean and very comfortable. I really liked the Belvada themed shampoo and soap. I don't usually sleep well in hotels but the hotel bed here was great. We also had a nice view down onto the street and the Mizpah sister property to the Belvada. There was a coffee machine, refrigerator and microwave. We really enjoyed our evening in this room and it was perfect for what we were looking for. The location was excellent with a couple different places to get food including an A&W and a casino restaurant just across the street. There's also several shops and amenities within a block or two. Really helpful for travellers. There's also a really neat casino with all sorts of things like written checks from different celebrities and a neat stuffed bear over there. Tonopah is one of the more unique places I've ever been with the vibrant history of the late 19th and early 20th century still echoing loudly in that town. The locals were friendly. Probably one of the best places to stop in the vast, expansive and gorgeous Nevada desert.

Pros Clean sheets, friendly workers, lots of Clowns, Graveyard Ghost Tour, Nice location for walking places. Cons Window has a break with tape over it Bathtub is rusted with no tub spout and peeling Floor has a indentation that is going to turn into a hole soon by bathroom door inside and someone's foot is going to fall through Decor in Themed Rooms is Not scary! Seriously, Clown pictures and movie or character murals are fine but... Flowered Bedspread and Beach themed shower curtain? My Office is scarier with a life-sized Jason, Movie posters and mask and Scythe hanging up. I know they can fined bloody themed sheets and blankets, towels, etc..even a Friday-The-13th Shower Curtain. None of the Themed rooms are scary in decor which was a bit disappointing. Experiences On the Ghost Tour, they gave us a clicker to sense energy fields. Mine turned itself off 11 times after supposedly being fully charged. Then, the Guide gives away one of the main secrets in how that works. I started feeling dizzy when I entered the room. While reading a book next to heater which was on, I would get chills like heater was going on and off. When friend moved my phone, the ceiling light blinked. Heard noise outside like a Thump and drag but nobody was there.

This motel has been featured on paranormal shows and in books as being "haunted". It has that creepy "Devils Rejects" or "The Hills Have Eyes" vibes since you are in a remote area and feels like a group of sketchy locals might be waiting for darkness to strike. When we first arrived there was construction going on in the parking lot that went on until 10pm. That was really annoying. I originally booked room #107 which is one of the most paranormal rooms and basically one of the only reasons I booked months in advance to get it. When I arrived the gentleman at the desk said he was sorry but there was an issue with room #107 and it could not be rented to me. I said told him that was disappointing since I booked this months out. I asked what was wrong with the room. He said there was a leak and could not be rented out. I opted for the 2nd most paranormal room which was #108 (The IT room). The manager gave us a few keys and said check a few rooms out since they were all empty but a couple. I was there for the paranormal accounts so stuck with #108. We took a self tour of the tiny museum. I did enjoy that and bought some merch. The museum had the vibes I was looking for. Creepy and kind clown dolls that have been donated over time. The museum is free and you can make a donation if you wish. I would recommend stopping by the museum. Once we got into the room we noticed cockroach traps in the corners and In the closet. Clearly there was is roach problem at this motel. The room just made me feel itchy and gross. I got no spooky vibes at all, no EMF activity in the room. I pulled out my blacklight and there were gross stains all over the wall, bed, and the toilet was unbearable. Me and my bro decided to sit in the parking lot at 9pm and walk the cemetery in the dark when nobody was there. As we walked outside to tour the cemetery we noticed the room light was on in room #107 and the curtain was cracked. We could see two people on the bed. I was pissed because the manager lied to me and said the room could not be rented out due to a leak, yet two people had checked into it. They probably offered to pay him more and he gave it to them. I did enjoy walking the cemetery and reading about each occupant. We paid our respects and went back to the room. After seeing how disgusting the room was we decided to check out at 10pm. We told the manager the room was too gross and could not stay the night especially with signs of a bug infestation. The manager said he knows the rooms aren't nice and he is sorry. They will not refund you if you choose to leave. They will only refund you if there is a mechanical issue or plumbing issue. I also think that is not good business. We packed our things back in the car and left for another hotel 5 minutes away. It was called the Belvada and was awesome. Also has a haunted past. 1906 Victorian style hotel. I would NOT recommend staying at the Clown Motel. It is worth seeing to go to the museum and cemetery but that's it. Avoid the rooms. I don't believe the rooms are haunted and it's a gimmick to get people to stay in these rundown rooms. I think the reviews where people say they could not stay the night wasn't because of ghosts but because of cockroaches. They need to spend less money on the outside decor and put more money into renovating the rooms. I was very disappointed and hands down worst motel I've ever stayed in!

It's been interesting to read reviews of others who have given the place much higher marks. However, there is a realization here that everyone has a different level of standards. Overall, we want a place that's clean and put together. We did not feel that was the case here. In other words, I could probably say it was about the worst hotel room I ever paid for. To begin with tissues from the previous guest were still behind the bed table. We left them there. The mattress spring covers weren't just dirty. It was stained and filthy. It was obvious with the condition of the way the bed was made and cords that there was no proper training on anything. There was a refrigerator in the room that when opened the ice had such a build up of ice you knew it had never been checked or cleaned. Moving down to the restaurant ..... the ketchup when turned upside down "clumped" to opening and didn't slide like fresh ketchup. The bottles of other toppings appeared to have also been there a mighty long time without being freshened up. Okay .. what did we order? We ordered two hot fudge sundaes. The hot fudge was lukewarm and clumped... After all, what did we expect? The following morning when we stopped by "Registraiton" to drop the keys off, the clerk was sound asleep in his chair. Evidently, he'd been there a bit as other keys were laying on the counter that had also been cropped off. He did look at me and grunt and then went back to sleep.
