Someone left their personal soap in the shower.

This is the first and last time we'll stay here. I felt bad for the employees, as most of them there were doing several jobs during the day. I know they have a shortage of employees but there is no excuse for dirty rooms, tables in the restaurant were sticky and had a greasy film on top. This place is old and it shows. The entire hotel needs a very deep cleaning. The carpets are filthy. Pigeon feathers and poop blowing in the back entrance. Then it's tracked inside rooms and restaurant. Our group (3 rooms) all had dirty carpets, no stoppers in the sinks and leaking faucets. Two of us had the floss / teeth picks on the floor. Someone left their personal bar of soap in the shower. The window sills are very dirty and little mold. Our bed king was very old and hard as a rock. the springs were so noisy that I couldn't roll over or get out of bed without waking my husband. If the health department inspected this place it would probably be shut down.

2.5/5 stars rounded up to 3 We stopped here for dinner. We were starving after being on the road for 10 hours and tired, too. We had scattered internet so I only caught glimpses of reviews before getting here. We chatted with Diana at the registration desk. We asked to see a room before booking and she was kind enough to let us see one. The elevator takes you to the rooms since all are on the second floor. There are stairs between sets of rooms so it is a bit of exercise. The hotel was built in 1980 and renovated in 2003. It is past time for another renovation. The carpet and bathtub has stains and the walls have some splotches but the price is half that of other places in town. The bed was clean and bedspread was bright and cheery...and I check edges- no creatures roamed. The only thing I didn't check until late that night is the shower wouldn't turn on-or I wasn't strong enough to turn it on. This needs to be fixed, too. The coffee shop was nice and bustling. They had a ground round patty for entree served with soup or salad, mashed or baked potatoes and a vegetable. Dinner was plain but good. The soup (once reheated)and salad were both really delicious. The ground round patty was just plain-no onions or mushrooms but very good and the mashed potatoes and gravy were tasty, too. Breakfast was ok. Diced ham and eggs were really good. The country gravy was not great. But again service was nice. The Tonopah Station is an ok place for a night. It's not the best place I've stayed but it was quiet and safe. The casino smells horribly like smoke. They could use a better air handling system. Service by Diana and the staff in the coffee shop was wonderful. They earn a star by themselves.

Driving to Vegas for a birthday trip, we decided to stop and stay the night I'm Tonopah. Tonopah Station is an older hotel, but despite that, the accommodations are great. The beds are very comfortable. The carpet is old, and it does smell musty and smokey, but they do have a casino on the first floor, while the rooms are on the second floor. There are stairs that lead to the rooms, so it may be a bit difficult if you need special accommodations. I almost won a free room as you can roll the dice at check-in to try to win a free night. I would definitely stay here again as it has some cool history and decorations.

Not so wonderful with really inadequate staffing. If you sit at a machine and hope for a drink... good luck! We played for over 15 minutes before we were able to get ahold of a guy who obliged us and found us a cold beer.. Probably a place the locals hang at. We tried getting lunch. Fiasco. The one waitress was off to the side doing something.. no customers were seated or in sight... and the cook was actually front of house and said someone would be with us in a minute, but she never reappeared. We left.

We wanted to go ahead and check out the casinos in town since there isn't a whole lot else to do around here at night that we knew of. I had to use the restroom when we got there so I went to where they were to find a sign that they were out of order, which could have been better placed before I wandered back to the weird area for restrooms by the laundry facility. So then I'm trying to hurry to the downstairs restrooms which were mostly disgusting. So my first impression was disorganized, creepy, and gross. So then we walk back to where the casino area is they do have some cool stuff around to check out. The casino is so dark and dank, kind of depressing. We decided to play some games though and it was enjoyable. Employees were really nice though. Honestly, this place could use a refresh.

The entrance to Tonopah Station. Place is run down, dirty and sad.

This place and staff were awesome. It feels so nice not being stared at by staff and them actually talk to me and not just my husband.

It's an old and historical location. Good updates that are comfortable. Didn't eat at the restaurant. Would stay again when passing through.

Extremely unique, clean, good hotel in the middle of Nevada desert…read more We choose the Belvada as a stop over during our trip to Vegas as a place to rest before going on. This was a great decision. We got one of the suites which was one of the most unique hotel rooms I've ever stayed in complete with 19th century French books and turn of the 20th century charm. Our suite was unique with a smallish living room connecting to an old timey bedroom and bathroom. Everything was clean and very comfortable. I really liked the Belvada themed shampoo and soap. I don't usually sleep well in hotels but the hotel bed here was great. We also had a nice view down onto the street and the Mizpah sister property to the Belvada. There was a coffee machine, refrigerator and microwave. We really enjoyed our evening in this room and it was perfect for what we were looking for. The location was excellent with a couple different places to get food including an A&W and a casino restaurant just across the street. There's also several shops and amenities within a block or two. Really helpful for travellers. There's also a really neat casino with all sorts of things like written checks from different celebrities and a neat stuffed bear over there. Tonopah is one of the more unique places I've ever been with the vibrant history of the late 19th and early 20th century still echoing loudly in that town. The locals were friendly. Probably one of the best places to stop in the vast, expansive and gorgeous Nevada desert.

This motel has been featured on paranormal shows and in books as being "haunted". It has that creepy "Devils Rejects" or "The Hills Have Eyes" vibes since you are in a remote area and feels like a group of sketchy locals might be waiting for darkness to strike. When we first arrived there was construction going on in the parking lot that went on until 10pm. That was really annoying. I originally booked room #107 which is one of the most paranormal rooms and basically one of the only reasons I booked months in advance to get it. When I arrived the gentleman at the desk said he was sorry but there was an issue with room #107 and it could not be rented to me. I said told him that was disappointing since I booked this months out. I asked what was wrong with the room. He said there was a leak and could not be rented out. I opted for the 2nd most paranormal room which was #108 (The IT room). The manager gave us a few keys and said check a few rooms out since they were all empty but a couple. I was there for the paranormal accounts so stuck with #108. We took a self tour of the tiny museum. I did enjoy that and bought some merch. The museum had the vibes I was looking for. Creepy and kind clown dolls that have been donated over time. The museum is free and you can make a donation if you wish. I would recommend stopping by the museum. Once we got into the room we noticed cockroach traps in the corners and In the closet. Clearly there was is roach problem at this motel. The room just made me feel itchy and gross. I got no spooky vibes at all, no EMF activity in the room. I pulled out my blacklight and there were gross stains all over the wall, bed, and the toilet was unbearable. Me and my bro decided to sit in the parking lot at 9pm and walk the cemetery in the dark when nobody was there. As we walked outside to tour the cemetery we noticed the room light was on in room #107 and the curtain was cracked. We could see two people on the bed. I was pissed because the manager lied to me and said the room could not be rented out due to a leak, yet two people had checked into it. They probably offered to pay him more and he gave it to them. I did enjoy walking the cemetery and reading about each occupant. We paid our respects and went back to the room. After seeing how disgusting the room was we decided to check out at 10pm. We told the manager the room was too gross and could not stay the night especially with signs of a bug infestation. The manager said he knows the rooms aren't nice and he is sorry. They will not refund you if you choose to leave. They will only refund you if there is a mechanical issue or plumbing issue. I also think that is not good business. We packed our things back in the car and left for another hotel 5 minutes away. It was called the Belvada and was awesome. Also has a haunted past. 1906 Victorian style hotel. I would NOT recommend staying at the Clown Motel. It is worth seeing to go to the museum and cemetery but that's it. Avoid the rooms. I don't believe the rooms are haunted and it's a gimmick to get people to stay in these rundown rooms. I think the reviews where people say they could not stay the night wasn't because of ghosts but because of cockroaches. They need to spend less money on the outside decor and put more money into renovating the rooms. I was very disappointed and hands down worst motel I've ever stayed in!

Ah, the Jim Butler Inn. Though my co-workers may not agree; seasoned veterans of temporarily residing in rooms of varying decrepitude across eastern Nevada as they are, I have mostly enjoyed my stays here. The most memorable grievance expressed were that the hauntings of the neighboring Mizpah Hotel were likely mistaken as the wails of a patron at the Jim Butler Motel. My personal laments include slightly outdated, dimly-lit rooms, tight parking for the front-facing rooms, and the presence of a stack of outdated magazines in the lobby that feature my ex-boyfriend gleefully holding another girl atop his shoulders on the cover. This issue is apparently quite coveted by the town of Tonopah, as it has, like the ghosts of the town, haunted me at other motel lobbies within the city limits. Typically, outside of Covid, the Jim Butler offers it's saving grace: THE BINDER. Created by Print Shop Deluxe circa the mid-late 1990's, I have had the luxury of perusing a dedicated history and activity guide (complete with dot-matrix clip art) for the town of Tonopah. All activities defined are listed in a spreadsheet and divided by the amount of time one has to spend enjoying such activities. One hour activities, three-hour activities, full-day activities; an option is available for all schedules. The binder boasts that Tonopah has "some of the least light pollution in all of the country," which is both an amazing sentence and 100% true. Unfortunately, this timeless relic was not available due to Covid, but it is my hope to someday again sink my teeth into this bible of preference. I must give the most credit to the staff of the Jim Butler for their above and beyond nature to aid their customers. We once encountered an overnight tire leak in the parking lot for a work project last summer. We were due to leave for our project area around 7:00 am, and we inquired about the tire shop in town at the front desk, as they were listed as being open, but were not available in the shop at that point. Rather than shrug and send us away, the woman at the front desk called the home line of the owner ran the shop; effectively sending him to the shop to help us get the tire patched within the hour. When a man tore down the hill on a mini dirt-bike down the road to meet us, I had to smile and truly appreciate the kindness met with our situation. While it may not be my personal choice for a stay - I'd prefer to be haunted at The Mizpah next door, or to be surrounded by circus freaks at The Clown Motel - the people and the binder win here.
