So now that our move is 'completed', I see why the low ratings. Positives - driver came a day early to do inventory. Saved a ton of time on Monday, day of move. But all digital which we didn't get for days. And you have to esign, but can't see what you are actually signing. Positive - the load and unload crew on both ends, polite. Load side, only two spoke any English, made it super hard. Offload, communications were much better. That was all the positive. Not positive. Estimator way over on boxes they would need for the kitchen. (We paid to have kitchen and artwork packed). So feeling like we lost on that end and paid for nothing. Negative - loading they cut open the bottom of the ONLY wardrobe box we shipped and put a box from the garage in it. What was in said wardrobe? My Army Mess Dress and Dress Uniforms. I am now stuck with a dry cleaning bill of over $500! The drive tells us he doesn't think they would do that, calls them, and they admit they did. $500! (Mess dress uniforms aren't cheap and not cheap to get cleaned) They opened other boxes as well, that's just the most damage. Items that already had tags were placed in other items. Why? Negative - because they took apart EVERYTHING, there was no way to even attempt tag BINGO at delivery. About 75% of the boxes, etc got to the right place. We have been home 2 weeks and are still finding items completely wrong areas of the house. The driver did want to give us a couple of the un-loaders numbers if we needed things moved, again, but so we could pay them again for putting stuff in the house. We haven't been provided a claims form nor survey at this point. And while they were better than our last move, still wouldn't use them again. Of the items they 'took apart', the only ones that are back in one piece are the master bed, dining room table, kitchen table and wheels back on bikes (incorrectly). I know it hard to find solid movers, especially cross-country. But I suggest you look at all you options. read more

Avoid this company at all costs. They are unreliable. After charging exorbitant fees, thousands of dollars of furniture was destroyed in transport. Do not expect the owner, Rachel Levine- Atkins to get back to when you have concerns. I will provide more details and photos but wanted to warn everyone to avoid this company if your are looking for movers. Full detail will follow on the Better Business Bureau. Workers showed up 4 hours late and damaged the walls of a new home. I have never seen anything like it. Such a shame! Avoid at all costs. Update: Called the number and it was useless. I have used this company several times and each time a little worse. This lalast move was a total dumpster fire from the moment the packers showed up. First on day one they lost the content packing slips about (15sheets). Day 2 the truck arrives to load our content and only 1 packer shows up to finish packing our home. After several calls a few more people show up to get our content packed and loaded in the truck. Upon arrival to our new home they cannot account for the missing content packing slips. I provide a list of all damaged and missing items including replacement costs and then met with a denial that anything was damaged or missing. Even the driver stated to his dispatcher yes the company lost our paperwork and items are missing and some items were broken in transit. Not to mention I took our insurance coverage for this move and they refuse to honor the problems we experienced with or move. Absolutely a horrible experience for my family! read more

FREDERICK FRIENDS BE FOREWARNED...We moved cross-country with Ramar Moving Systems agent for UniGroup Drivers: Mayflower Moving & United Van Lines this past June and it was the absolute worst experience we've ever had. They left items in their warehouse (including a 43" TV), never loading them on the van, then sent UPS and, of course, they were destroyed. Other items were lost or damaged. Examples: one of our irreplaceable dining room chairs was destroyed, our dining room table was damaged beyond repair, a 5' x 7' sisal rug was lost, scratches on a vintage armoire, and lost a bin filled with stitching fabric, patterns, and supplies are only a few examples. Then, they hid behind the small print so as not to be held responsible. All in all, I would strongly advise that you avoid using them. We had almost $8,000 in loss and damages and are currently in arbitration. Hopefully, this matter will be satisfactorily resolved within the next few month. Wish us luck. read more

We used Ramar for our move from Frederick, Maryland to Venice, FL in 2017 and everything was perfect. They crated and moved our valuable artwork and it worked out beautifully. No issues whatsoever. We didn't move our furniture but we did have boxes of belongings and lamps and other items that were packed carefully and made it safely as well. Told they would pick up within 2 hours but they showed up 4 hours later (2 hours, double the time provided, after the estimated time range) then refused any partial refund due to the huge inconvenience. We contacted Mayflower who sent out a representative from Ramar Moving Systems to give us an estimate on our move from Maryland to California. At the first meeting, everything went okay and we received a quote. The quote was significantly higher (upwards of $8,000 more) that other moving companies, but I went with them as they and Mayflower had good Yelp Reviews. When I contacted the estimator from Ramar regarding the significant price difference, he assured me that if I went with them, I would receive quality service, which could not have been farther from the truth. Sadly, I believed him. Below are all of the items that went wrong before, during and after the move: 1. Prior to the move, the estimator suggested that we would need a shuttle (extra cost) to move items from our house to the moving truck because of our driveway access. I assured the estimator this would not be needed. I sent him a follow-up email asking him to come out to look at the access again and reconsider the shuttle. He did not, but said he had someone look at the property via Google Earth, and it was needed. On the day the truck driver arrived, he agreed that a shuttle was not needed, so he did not use one. He told us that we would not be charged. When I called Mayflower who contacted Ramar they said that they would give me back 2/3 of the cost of the shuttle because it was a set price. Not happy since I told them several times that a shuttle would not be needed (I have emails to prove it). 2. Prior to the move, I questioned the number of large picture boxes they said that they needed. I was assured that the estimator knew what he was doing. In the end, they needed at least 10 more of these boxes. I refused to pay for them and they agreed to cover it. 3. On the day of the move, the truck driver asked my husband where they could get lunch. My husband was running an errand, so offered to make the food run for them (5 movers plus a truck driver-not cheap). The truck driver never reimbursed my husband and acted as if it was expected. 4. When the items arrived at our location a day late, there were several expensive broken items-three legs off of three different dining rooms chairs, a leg off of our buffet table, a hole in the top of our desk, a wheel off of our office chair, a floor lamp was snapped in half, a hole in the bottom of our brand new chest of drawers, and some item with scratches on them (new chest of drawers, entertainment center). The truck driver admittedly blamed the packers and said he did not like the crew that moved us. 5. When they arrived at our place to unload, they knew that they were storing the items in a garage, so they only sent 2 movers when it took 5 movers all day to load the truck. When the 2 movers began moving items into the garage, they had no plan-how to get the max out of the area to store and how to store items to minimize damage, so my 65 year old father and his friend had to do it. They in fact did the movers job for 6 hours that day. They should have been paid or I should have been reimbursed for their time. Especially, since my father has horrible back problems, and was in a lot of pain after the move. 6. The day of delivery I called and emailed the rep from Ramar services, and the only thing I got back was an email that said I should have called her sooner. I called and emailed again and had no response, so I went to Mayflower who was not much help. All they did was secure 2/3 of the money for the shuttle for me. DO NOT USE RAMAR OR MAYFLOWER. Sadly, they lost our business due to their lack of professionalism and negligence as we are moving our items out of storage into our house. read more

If it would let me I would do 0 stars. We trusted them with our final retirement move. The driver from United actually apologized and did disclaimer before he unloaded. He said when he arrived at warehouse, our stuff was broken all over the storeroom floor. Some unidentifiable. Upon unloading we found most items broken, scratched , shattered... or missing. We received a bed we had never seen before. Our bed had parts missing. Probably 1/3 of our belongings were totally broken. We boxed most artwork. Paid them to crate the best things (5 foot tall formal mirrors , dresser mirrors etc ) they arrived UNCRATED and some broken. I called Howard directly. He apologized. They worked with me for a YEAR sending repairmen out. Our first yr of retirement was totally miserable as we were battling to get repairs done. They did in the end reimburse for most of it and repair most damage. But, it cant help with the tears, mental and physical stress etc suffered in this move. But in the end... after a yr of stress, I had to still stand up and fight (ended up going directly to owner) for the final reimbursement for lost items! We are STILL finding things that didn't arrive. We could not unpack bedroom clothes for about 7 months because armoires were so damaged they had to be taken out for repairs. We have moved corporate moves 14 times in our lives. This one was a nightmare. We would say RUN! The irony is they charged us an ADDITIONAL ... I think it was 1900 to "store" (or wreck) our stuff for 6 weeks! They may individually be nice people... Cheryl was patient and kind. .... but this company should not be in moving business. We contracted with Ramar for a "Snap Move." Apparently a Snap Move is for those whose belongings are few enough to fit into a large container. This was exactly what we wanted as we are moving our daughter from Maryland to Seattle. We have found all representatives of Ramar to be polite, efficient and knowledgeable. Today, the packing crew came. It was a team of three people, headed by their leader Anita. I found the group to be caring and efficient. As I watched them, I couldn't help thinking that they responded to this job as if it was their move, or a loved one's move. We had an awkward size sofa that required patience and incredible skill to fit into the container. Anita, in particular, worked with an intelligence and incredible care that astounded me. After several hours of constant work, they finished with the final side of the crate being nailed down. We ended the packing session by hugging them. Ok, my husband didn't hug them but he was truly impressed as well. I know this is the first part of that crate's journey. I fully expect it to end well. If it doesn't, I'll share that with you as well! read more

Security Risk. Repeatedly left outside doors open in secure building. When confronted, employee became aggressive, swearing at resident. "Boss" left secure doors open for most of day while they were working inside the unit. These guys don't give a #%$ about your security. Only their convenience. read more

Horrible Experience! Packers were good but the movers were butchers! Ruined my brand new, Berber carpets with dirty, greasy footprints. Broke legs on 4 valuable, expensive mahogany pieces, including a Stickley veneered dining table. Ruined all the leaves to the table with heat and belt damage. Scratches, gouges and chips on nearly every furniture piece. Pre-move customer service woman was rude and unconcerned. Having made three cross country moves with virtually no damage using other companies, I know Ramar/United was unnecessarily awful. If you care about your fine possessions, avoid this company! read more

We had a great experience with Ramar movers. We had to move from one house to another the same day because of back to back closings. They worked with us to help with all the logistics and made it a very smooth process. The packers were very respectful of our property and took care to package carefully and logically so unpacking was stress free. The movers were equally as professional and the loading and unloading went very smoothly. We had a very bad snow storm on the day of our move and the movers really went above and beyond even despite the nasty weather. We had excellent experience with RAMAR Movers. We had to move over a two day period. On the first day they showed up on time as promised with a crew of six to load up two trucks. They handled all the items like it was their own. We had white carpet throughout the house and they removed their shoes to protect it; I couldn't believe they did this without me asking them. They were supposed to take over 8 hrs to load the trucks and they did it in a little over 5 hrs. On the move in day they again showed up as promised and before they moved one item into our new home they laid heavy cardboard over all the hardwood flooring to protect it and when they moved the items into the carpeted areas they again removed their shoes. They were able to complete the move in a little over 5 hrs and best of all because of the efficiency of the crew my final bill was thousands less than what the estimator had projected. This was our 5th move and this was by far the most professional crew I have ever worked with; they were the cream of the crop. We would definitely recommend RAMAR based on their honest pricing, reliability, customer service and their professional team of movers. read more

In fairness, I did not choose Ramar for my move. They are contracted by my employer, so I had to go with them. The packing crew was nice... that's the only positive thing I can say. They did a horrible job packing. On our arrival in our new home, we found a good 80% of the boxes labeled "office," "library," or "misc." Items inside the boxes included: dirt (yes... potting dirt), dishes, curtains, books, toilet paper, shoes, empty boxes, shoes boxes that were torn open and crushed so they would fit inside the packing box, etc. It was and continues to be a disaster. Furniture pieces are missing, with no explanation for their removal (who takes 1 of 2 knobs off a dining room table??). Our bookcases, piano and grandfather clock are damaged. I'm honestly surprised this company still has a contract. Throughout the move process, I communicated via email, until a representative instructed me to call the hotline. At this point, I received information regarding claims that differed from what I received via email. After some back and forth with the owner, I decided to let my moving specialist handle it. I'm just going to fill out the claims form online and hope for the best. This was the first move I have done where we had a pack/unpack crew and honestly, the next time I move, I think I would rather sell everything I can't pack and just take what I can on my own after this [insert expletive] show. The management team and coordinator were apologetic, albeit a bit misinformed on their agreement (which I paraphrased for them to make sure we were on the same page - it had to be sent to the parent company to verify I was correct, which I was). I'm hopeful they will work with me on the claims - I am not very sentimental by any means, but to see my husband's family heirlooms damaged in such a way really hurt. Especially after we were told great care would be taken with the large, expensive items. read more

Much advance time was spent investigating the best options for our move, coordinating with the sales rep and also the move coordinator, only to find that upon delivery, our order was totally botched. When we contacted them to resolve the problem, they immediately shut down and acted like everything was fine. These people are unethical. Do not use these movers if you value your belongings of if you expect to be treated with professionalism. Their staff lack basic fundamental office acumen and standards for their profession. The movers arrived within the 2 hr window that was given to us the day before the move. The crew took good care of our belongings. Horrible company all the way around!!! This was our 9th move within the U.S. and the first time we have EVER received such low quality service!!! Moved under a government account so I guess they feel we don't count for much!! Our shipment was in their warehouse for 30 days. When delivered to us we were immediately missing 2 boxes. The delivery crew contacted the office and was assured mo boxes were there. This was back on the 18th of January. On Feb. 1st we contacted them to see if they had found our boxes. They informed us that they weren't even looking for them because we had not filed a claim yet. Mind you, we can not file 2 seperate claims 1 for our $17,000 + in damages and 1 for our missing boxes. They did not care that we had over 80 items damaged and that we were still trying to fill out the claim forms due to WE had to figure out what the items were worth (family heirlooms from 1911 Italy along with other antiques and collectibles). We were asked at that time if we were missing an excercise equipment mat because they found one and didnt know who it belonged to!!! Gee what if we didnt call when we did would they have thrown it away? Now that our claim has been filed we have been waiting 1 month to hear anything!! When we contacted them we got the hot potato treatment. Do not use this company if you expect any type of customer service because you wont get it!! read more

We had a horrible experience with Ramar. The crew who moved our furniture out were friendly but took little care in looking to see that boxes were marked fragile and these were treated if they contained plastic items. We had an unfortunate bad experience that our house buyers backed out of settlement an hour before closing and we had to have our furniture moved back into our house. This is where the real nightmare began. The crew had to unload our furniture and boxes from a tractor trailer back onto another truck and then bring back to our home. They threw boxes around and broke multiple items, broke antique furniture, put scratches and gouges in our dining room bedroom and living room furniture and even dented the weights on our grandfather clock. We contacted Ramar and the president of the company sent us an email asking about our concerns but after receiving them never bothered to respond in anyway. We would NEVER use Mayflower and especially Ramar in the future and would NEVER recommend them to move anything for anyone. read more
