staff are nice. Hate the hours so I never can get there anyway. Wouldnt make a special request for me for an event-something simple enough but out of their comfort zone. true craftemen dont exist anymore. and their stuff, its all about sugar sugar sugar. so over powering its hard to enjoy. Old Man Rambachs teacake is damn good though I will always get that but the rest of it, might as well just pour sugar in your mouth. I also bought some kind of German Christmas cake at 20 dollars this year, small. the disappointment let me tell you. nobody eat it. got thrown out. I couldnt even eat it knowing what i piad for it. My advice is to pass on the special german christmas cake or whatever it was. breah with some fruit pieces in it, dry and hard. read more

First place I gotta visit when I'm in Plattsburgh is Rambach! This bakery has all sorts of goodies to satisfy your sweet tooth! I've tried donuts, cookies, muffins and while they are good, my favorite is the tea cake! I find the tea cake has the perfect amount of sweetness, the cake is light and not very sweet, you get majority of the sweetness from the icing on top of the tea cake and it just pairs so perfectly. I do remember seeing a maple tea cake, not sure if it's still available as it's been quite some time since I visited. I'm hoping to visit very soon and grab a few tea cakes so I can freeze and enjoy for later! Yes, in case you're wondering, tea cakes are fine to freeze! From the moment you walk in the door, you already know it's going to be hard to make a decision. Fresh Maple cinnamon rolls were coming out of the oven. They have quite the assortment of pastries from Almond Crescents to Apricot Turnovers to Macaroons to Baklava and so much more!!! My stay here is almost finished and I'm sad nobody told me about this place until now!! Everything is made on the premises. I honestly forgot to ask what else they were working on. One of the cashiers told me the Yum Yums are a popular favorite of the locals. They'd just come out, but I had my heart set on a cinnamon roll. I will absolutely HAVE to go back to try it. That Maple Cinnamon Roll...5 ! Like I said, it had just come out and was warm..the maple was perfect (sorry, I devoured it instantly so no pics today). The roll itself wasn't too dense, but just right. If you're in Plattsburgh, I highly recommend planning several trips. We went about 8 and it was a great time to go. read more

I understand if you're a family run business that you might be closed on Sunday but Father's Day is a major day for cakes. It's also my father's Birthday so even if I ordered ahead you don't want your cake sitting in your fridge an extra day for the person to see it before it's time. My old parents who've lived here all their lives are the nostalgic type of people that keep this bakery open, but it's time for someone customer oriented to get in the game. read more

Absolutely terrible service. I called a week ago to order pies for my office pot luck and they call me the day of the event to tell me that they won't be ready. I can, however, pick them up in a day or two. This bakery was run 100% better under former management. The peanut butter brownies are the best PB brownies that I've ever eaten, and I do not even like peanut butter so that is saying something. You will just have to try one to see what I mean. The brownie base is soft, chewy and mild, but that peanut butter fluffy topping is out-of-this-world. I think it is almost more of a Swiss meringue whipped with some peanut butter, it was much lighter and milder and not as cloyingly sweet as a peanut butter buttercream. The brownies were drizzled with ganache, and we swarmed on the two brownies that my best friend greeted me with when she picked me up from the airport. What was most surprising to me about the brownies were they were not sickeningly sweet. I did not feel gross after eating them, they were so delicious and home-baked tasting. I loved my brownie experience so much that I wanted to visit this magical bakery and buy some more. Unfortunately by the time we arrived on a Saturday afternoon they had already sold out of those brownies, but they had peanut butter sticks instead (we nabbed the last three of those as well). The peanut butter sticks are almost as good, at least they have that delicious fluffy topping, but they have a sugar cookie base instead of a brownie base, which I did miss. I also got a cannoli, and my husband's friend said it was the best he had ever had, it had a mild almond flavor which was very delicious. I also ordered a raspberry square, and it was soft, fruity, and yummy as well. On a side note, my best friend said she had ordered two birthday cakes from Rambach's, one regular and one dairy-free. Even though the cakes were served at a children's birthday, she said that everyone actually preferred the dairy-free cake, they thought it was even more delicious than the regular cake! So this would be good thing for those who are lactose intolerant to keep in mind. read more

I parked in this parking lot at this bakery went across to the school came back 20 minutes later, got to my car grab my purse, was ready to go into the bakery. My daughter wanted to get some thing lady came out yelling and screaming her head off at me that I could not park there and blah blah blah and I told her I'm like ma'am I'm grabbing my purse out of my car we were just heading in to buy stuff and stuff and she threw a fit. Told me oh come on and come on in so I told her no I will go spend my money elsewhere. I am not going to be treated like that. This is the worst place that I have ever seen and Plattsburgh very rude. read more

OMG!!!!! This bakery is amazing!!! When we walked in we were met with smiles and a smell of fresh baked goods. All I could think was this would be my heaven and my hell. Everything looked so amazingly delicious. We ended up purchasing 2 triple chocolate chip cookies and a pound of assorted cookies. The chocolate chip cookies were so incredible words can't even describe. The decision was made that before we go back home to central NY we will be buying all they have on hand for friends and to freeze. Stop by if you're in the area or plan to be. I have been stopping at Rombach's for years on my frequent trips to Montreal and rarely miss an opportunity to visit them when I'm in the area. The item that brings me back is the Australian Teacake, it is so unique as to defy description other than to say, " Where ever you are in the world it is worth a trip to Plattsburgh"!!! It is an extremely moist yellow cake with an angelic heavenly flavor that has no earthly equal, accentuated by a frosting that will lift you from your senses depositing you into a state of dessert euphoria you have never visited or experienced before. Be for warned there is no cure or antidote this will become your addiction!!! Rombach's also, make several kinds of Christmas Stollen around the holidays which are some of the very best I've had this side of Germany. Agree with Don P on the Australian Tea cake (which we learn is not a thing, just what the owner ended up calling it! No wonder our friend from down under thought we were crazy) This cake has some sort of crack in it. I am a baker, and I can't quite put my finger on it - its not butter, but maybe a buttery oil? Whatever it is that makes this cake so moist, it works. I've even had the cake for over a week (only because it got misplaced!) and it was STILL amazing! So good. Anyway, aside from that crack-cake. We've gotten some of the quiches they sell there - OMG they are to DIE for! Recommend the bacon one, but any are good. The balaclava is also a winner! We have gotten a chocolate "bomb" type cake from here also - thumbs up from my chocoholic son. Only thing we have ever gotten from here so far that was not directly from the German dessert gods was a PB/chocolate coated log thing. The same chocoholic/PB cup junkie son gave thumbs down.
