Ramen Takumi is located in the Business Circle on the corner of West San Carlos & South Bascom Avenue. The restaurant is modern and new. There is a beautiful mural on one wall. They also serve beer, Sake, & soft drinks. The menu is on a QR code on your table. The menu consists of ramen, rice bowls, appetizers, etc. They will come over to take your order when you are ready. One unisex restroom. The service was friendly, patient, and helpful. Signature Spicy Garlic Tonkotsu: creamy pork bone broth, braised chashu, pork belly chashu, ajitama (egg), whole grilled garlic, garlic flakes, garlic oil, kikurage mushrooms, green onions, nori, menma (bamboo shoots), wheat noodle (4/5). Flavorful and mildly spicy broth. I liked that they seared the pork chashu. The marinated egg was creamy but needed to be in the broth longer to take the chill off of the yolk. The thin noodles were similar to Chinese Won Ton noodles. I'm not saying they are, just very similar. They were still good and had a nice chew. The noodles are thinner than I usually prefer. Broth at the Mouth Yet another ramen restaurant here in the South Bay, as it seems like there's a new spot opening up every other month or so as of late. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, just making an observation. This one is located in SJ's Burbank neighborhood, only about a stone's throw from Valley Fair, and features the usual assortment of soupy goodness, along with all the typical apps and sides one might expect. The Good: *Yelp Waitlist *Service was friendly *Ramen egg was seasoned very well and cooked just a bit jammy, how I like it. *Spicy Garlic Tonkatsu was certainly garlicky,but and not afraid to bring the flavor. I couldn't really taste the Tonkatsu broth, tho, as it was overwhelmed by the garlic. Noodles were a bit thinner than the usual Ramen noodles, but they were adequate. The Meh: *Small shared parking lot with no (nearby) street parking *They do close for two hours (2:30 - 4:30) between lunch and dinner, so be aware if you're trying to do a linner. *The rice in the Karaage rice bowl was overcooked to the point that it was practically a soup. Kinda reminded me of a rice pudding texture, which is great if you're having rice pudding, but not so much if you're not. *Chashu pork had good flavor but it was a bit overcooked and didn't seem freshly made. The Ugly: *They had a sign out front advertising lunch specials, but yet there were none indicated on the menu, which was curious. It wasn't until I went up to the register to pay that I noticed these little mini sign thingamabobbers that should be placed at each table indicating the lunch specials. I'm not sure what good they were doing up at the register, when you order at the table. Extremely tasty ramen! Loved the marinated egg cooked just perfectly for a runny yolk. Loved the whole garlic pieces and sliced/fried garlic pieces! The chashu was thick and tender and seasoned perfectly. The onions, mushroom and seaweed all melded together nicely! The noodles had the right texture and mouthfeel. This bowl had so much savory umami flavor! Loved everything about it, including the texture and crunch! The service was also top notch! Dropped my chopsticks and they were instantly reppaced without asking. Could not have asked for a better experience! But, as I wrote in that review, the location is sketchy, parking can get tight at peak hours during which you might have to park a bit away. The ambiance is better than the previous restaurant in this location as they opened it up a bit and it looks spacious. ***SERVICE: great! The lady helping me checked up quite often, she asked for feedback on my ramen as well. ***FOOD: I dined alone so just got the spicy garlic Toripaitan. It's a chicken based broth but also comes with pork chashu. I asked them to skip the pork and get me the rest. Really great bowl of ramen, I still like the one from Marufuku better but this comes a close second. Ordered: Miso Fire I usually don't eat ramen, but my friend found this place and she wanted to try. Portion size: this thing had A LOT of noodles. I found it very hefty in comparison to other ramen shops. Spice level: I usually don't think ramen is spicy even when it says spicy, but this was actually a pretty good spice. If I had to compare it, it would be like a Shin ramen (red) kind of spice. Toppings are good, they're pretty generous in the amount of toppings they give, but keep in mind for the Miso Fire, there is no egg! Broth was kind of salty in my opinion, but I think for others, this would be good. Service was good, the waiter was kind enough to let us split the check. Stopped by after some nice shopping at Santana row. After not being interested in food in Santana row. We found takumi on yelp and it was only 1 mile away. Plenty of parking outside as the plaza wasn't really busy. It shares the parking spots with a dollar tree, hookah bar, shoe palace, and other restaurants. We ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen, chashu rice bowl, and the mushroom karage. The rice bowl was on the lighter side where there was much more white rice than actual "sauced" rice than what I usually prefer. The ramen noodle soup was fine, but the lack of chew on the ramen noodles was missing. It tasted like wonton noodles. The highlight of the dinner was definitely the mushroom karage. Definitely a ton of umami and flavor and worth a take-out order from here. Overall, a pleasant dinner here at takumi. We went on Thursday 11/20/2025, with the intention of eating at Green Lotus, and not knowing until we got there the restaurant was now Ramen Takumi. We figured we were there already, so we would try a new restaurant! Upon entering for lunch, there were a couple tables full of people, so there was plenty of space for us. We got seated right away, and the host asked if we wanted to have a high chair - initially declined, but eventually we opted in to use the high chair. A quick glimpse of the menu, and wifey wanted to have ramen, and I wanted a rice bowl to share with our son. We also decided on an appetizer. For a local ramen option, it's great that they're around! Lines for Nagi can get a bit ridiculous so something that is far faster and gets you most of the way there for that ramen itch I'm more than happy to support. Takumi's broth and flavors run a little sweeter, but generally pretty well done overall. Their signature assortment seems to be where they're strongest, as my brother's butter corn ran a little lighter than preferred. The spot is a casual eatery and parking can fill up fast since it's a shared corner lot, but the service staff we got us settled in quickly. Karaage 5/5 The batter was closer to a funnel cake in consistency than the more Japanese prep, but I'm about it! Plump chunks with a good dip made for a nice addition to the bowls we got. Tonkotsu 5/5 Broth was nicely rich and with more sweet aromas. Noodles weren't quite notable and were the weakest part, but the composition was pretty satisfying at their price point so worth trying at the very least. Having pork two ways (with crispy torched pieces and richly soft chasiu) really brought the bowl together in the best of ways. Butter Corn 4/5 Felt that the broth here went a touch too light for the bowl, but still a solid bowl of ramen. Cute variety, but their signature bowl is the one to roll with imo. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to see a ramen spot near midtown because my girlfriend lives here. Unfortunately, this place is the definition of what the kids call "mid." After getting seated, the wait staff wasn't very attentive. Either that, or they just didn't care. So after waiting a while to order, we both got the Tonkatsu ramen, with mine being spicy. Mine had the perfect amount of spice, but that was really the only flavor. There was no depth to the broth at all. The pork also didn't have the roast flavor I'm used to with just about any bowl I've had. We also got the shrimp gyoza, and they looked awesome but I didn't care for them. They were bland. The shrimp tempura though? Tremendous. Love what they did with the batter despite how greasy it ended up being. But I don't go to ramen spots for tempura. With the broth being as light as it was, I wonder if it would've been better to order one of the chicken options, especially since they were shown on the menu first. When I got up to pay for the meal, I was asked how everything was, to which I responded "Eehhhh... it's okay." And then he was like "thank you, sir" and bowed with a smile. I raised my eyebrows and walked away. I know they're early but if they hope to make people consider this over Ramen Nagi, here's how it'll go. People will head to this spot, be annoyed with their parking situation as you have to park in front of a sex shop and dive bar across the street from Pink Poodle... and then go back in line at Nagi. The ramen is pretty good! For $20 it was quite steep, but it does have everything you would want. I would try their normal tonkatsu for cheaper next. The ramen was a bit on the sweeter side which was different for me and the spicy tonkatsu was not very spicy. (I would probably add the ability to change spice levels) I loved the extra garlic bits they put in there it was quite a good touch. The broth, pork, and egg were pretty good and I would come back to try some more. I like the design of the place too very simple with a nice mural on the wall. The servers are very attentive, we ordered the spicy garlic tonkatsu and it was delicious, it had fried bits of garlic that made it extra tasty, sad to say i forgot to take a picture of it. Did wish it was spicier though. Also ordered the chicken karrage, its dark meat chicken which makes it really juicy when you take a bite but still has a crispyness to it. Its really good and solid ramen. Very close to what you would get in Japan (was there a few weeks ago). I got the pork ramen with the fried mushrooms. Both were really good and highly recommend. They need a dipping sauce for the mushrooms, maybe kewpie mayo would have helped. Overall quality of food was spot on but the parking lot is not that desirable. Parking is quite tight and small. New Ramen shop popping up in West SJ which is surprising! The area is a bit sketch but the location is next to Nick the Greek and other food spots. The parking lot is small but we still found parking in it. Their front door scrapes on the ground so be-careful when opening wide. Interior is simple and clean with a big mural on the wall. I went with the Spicy Garlic Tonkatsu and i enjoyed it. The broth is not salty, kind of light and nice. I liked the ramen noodles are al dente so on the harder side but still cooked which i liked bc i dont like soggy noodles. The meat was soft and nice and the bamboo shoots and onions and the cooked whole marinated garlics were a surprise and i kinda liked biting into it. Nice and crunchy. Came here on opening week and had a pleasant experience! I ordered the #1 - Signature Spicy Garlic Toripaitan and Takumi Fried Karaage Mushroom. The ramen came out hot, and as a garlic lover, I enjoyed it. Also the egg... SO PERFECT. They came out whole and were so jammy in the middle!! Definitely the best jammy egg i've had at any ramen spot so props to the chefs. The fried mushrooms were great too, they have a sort of sweetness to them. Staff were kind and made plenty of rounds with lemon water. Ramen Takumi just had their official opening today so we had to try. The restaurant is in a somewhat shady area surrounded by a Dollar Tree and an adult shop. The parking lot is very small so plan accordingly. The restaurant itself is somewhat generic in appearance. If you're looking for a well funded atmosphere like Marafuku or Ippudo, this isn't for you. Honestly if they removed the unused drink fridge, soft drink display case, and random trash cans, this place would look better. The service and food,however, are excellent. They're very friendly and the food comes out quickly. We got the spicy garlic tonkotsu ramen and it lived up to the name. The broth is rich and has tons of garlic. It's spicy but tolerably so. The noodles and chashu have great consistency and flavor. The chicken karaage rice bowl was pretty good. The rice was a bit dry/undercooked but the chicken was tender and well seasoned. A garlic lover's spicy ramen dream! We went during soft opening -- the only ramen bowls available were signature spicy garlic toripaitan (#1) and classic tonkotsu (#4). We both got #1. FIRE. Bamboo shoots, soft boiled egg, mushrooms, seaweed sheets, green onions, garlic, 2 pieces pork belly & 2 pieces chicken. Great amount of toppings, flavorful broth, loved the slightly crispy edge to the pork belly. There's whole cloves of garlic in this, be warned! You won't be fit to be around non-garlicked humans afterward. It really wasn't very spicy, but they provide chili oil upon request. The chili oil had a great flavor to it too, def recommend. The inside was also super nice and relaxing, it was easy to chat with my partner without needing to raise my voice or anything. Onto the food! 1. Mushroom karaage: 5/5 probably the highlight of the meal!!! It was so good. I thought it was strange that there was no sauce at first but it's not like chicken where it could be dry and need sauce. The lemon was all the extra flavor it needed. 2. Shrimp tempura was green flakes: 4/5 this was an interesting experience as we weren't sure what the reason for the green rice flakes but after eating it, we made a guess that it might be a healthier alternative? Because it was rice flakes, it was still crunchy, but not the same as a typical tempura crunch, and it actually was less oily. I might even go as far as saying it wasn't oily at all. 3. Classic tonkatsu: 4/5 I forgot to ask for no bamboo shoots which really affects the flavor of the soup but otherwise it was a very classic tonkatsu. I appreciated the chewiness and thickness of the noodles, the thickness and grilledness of the chashu, and the right amount of toppings. 4. I went here with a friend on a Friday night and unfortunately the area isn't so great. The intersection is under construction and the small corner shopping area that this Ramen spot is in has really poor parking situation and set up so we had to circle once or twice to find something. That's no fault to the Ramen spot just a heads up. It's a clean spot on the smaller side. I estimate there may be 15 to 20 tables in there but decorated well and service was OK. It could've been better but all in all we got the food we ordered and that's what really matters is that the food was absolutely delicious. Just finished dinner here around 8:30 pm today. Frankly, I don't know where to start. I guess to summarize it all in all in the beginning, I'm just not a ramen fan. I was even super excited to try this new ramen spot since my BF likes ramen noodles. We came here on a whim since one of our friends invited us to dinner and someone suggested ramen. Next time, I'm just going with my gut. Dinner was at 7 for a party of 6, and grateful it wasn't packed. Upon walking in I realized this establishment overtook the previous Green Lotus restaurant that I tried a few years back. Unfortunate, but I guess things come and go. The team was nice, sat me and my BF right away since we arrived 6:45. Waited for the rest of the party to arrive and they did. We were all excited to try the specials so majority of the party ordered #3 and then #1. We also ordered a few apps, the Karaage Mushroom and regular karaage. I loved the mushroom karaage, but the regular chicken karaage could have been a bit juicier. The other appetizers were edamame and the green shrimp tempura. The edamame was not appetizing but the shrimp tempura kind of made up for it. Just an FYI they only do 5 pcs for each shrimp appetizer. The edamame tasted as if it was an old batch or previously frozen. You can tell when edamame is just super soft and no bite to it. So that threw me off a bit. I still give 5 stars for the shrimp tempura. Now for the ramen, I ordered the #3 minimal spice. The broth tasted good and was rich, but it wasn't hot, it was more on the warmer side if that makes sense. The chashu pieces were literally all different in regards to flavor/texture... most pieces were dry and only one was juicy and tender. My BF's ramen was the Chicken broth and now that broth was amazing. But the chicken was dry also. And normally, while I don't complain of an overage of things, the serving amount of ramen was sooo heavy handed. Maybe because this restaurant is still new, they're probably working out their kinks. Tried the Signature Spicy Garlic Ramen and the Classic Tonkotsu Ramen. Also tried the Green Tempura Shrimp and the Fried Takumi Mushrooms. Both the Classic Tonkotsu Ramen and the Signature Spicy Garlic Ramen had pork broth with sweet as the most notable flavor. The Spicy Garlic also had a sesame flavor. It was better than the Classic Tonkotsu. They both come with thin noodles. The noodles didn't have the al dente chew texture but the portion was pretty generous. There were 3 pieces of Chashu pork belly strips in each ramen. Chashu was tender, one of the most tender Chashu meat I've had. The Green Shrimp Tempura had batter coating and rolled in green cereal then fried. The shrimp was juicy inside and crispy outside. Served with a dipping sauce that resembles sweet salsa. The Fried Mushrooms had a sweet bread crumb coating; tasted like it was sprinkled with sugar. Nice dining room. Parking is a little difficult. Wanted to check this place out since I was in the mood for some Ramen, so as always I checked Yelp for any good recommendations and saw that this was a fairly new place that was in a plaza that I was familiar with. I know that parking might be a bit tricky to find being that there are a lot of other stores around but I went around dinner time before the evening rush and I'm so glad I came in at the right time. Was seated right away and first thing I noticed was he cool looking mural that they had on the opposite wall that I was sitting at. Really colorful and it was something I could admire while waiting for my food. I noticed that many were ordering the Signature Spicy Garlic Tonkatsu so I decided on getting that along with the Takumi Fried Karaage Mushroom ‍ Both came out at a good time when more people started coming in and the servers were starting to get more busy. I was surprised that the ramen had a good amount of the Pork Belly Chashu hiding inside and the noodles were to my liking. I thought the broth was really tasty and I saved my ajiama egg for last to complete my meal. The mushrooms were really good as well with a good texture and crispness to it.
