We had a company come out yesterday (Sunday) when our garage door spring broke; but the tech didn't seem like he knew what he was doing and wanted $2800 to fix it. So I waited until today (Monday) to call the garage door company we used before, but learned that the owner had closed down. I asked him for a recommendation, and he said Ramirez Overhead Doors was locally owned and professional service. They were able to come out the same day, and the technician Patrick called ahead to say he could come earlier. He replaced both springs, which come with a lifetime warranty; he had to do some re-surfacing of the rod and mounts (possibly damaged by the hammering of the guy who came yesterday). I liked the appointment process that I would be provided the name and text upon arrival prior to and this happened. Juan was the servicing technician and on time. I explained the issue which was opener had new batteries put in but door was not opening or closing. I thought it was the programing issue which I tried to fix on my own. Juan explained a few different options and began to troubleshoot the wiring. Mind you the is AccessMaster and original 2003 install. He found it was the old wiring and also replaced stripped screws and lubed the chain thingy. I pointed out my door button was cracked and he replaced for $15. Because again it was original not much screw left that he was able to put a new one in place. All together price I was quoted and sadly soon I will need a new door. It has done it's job for 20 years. Based on their great reviews, I hired Ramirez to replace a broken spring on our 15-year-old garage door. The office staff was very responsive and gave me a heads up when the technician was headed for our house, only the next day after my call. It didn't take long for the technician to install the new spring and he told me that their work--labor--was warranted for a year if anything went wrong. (I think the spring itself is warranted for longer than that.) A couple of months later the door started refusing to rise more than a foot or so from a closed position, so I called Ramirez and another technician was sent out the next day. Same great office staff service and the technician lubed and adjusted everything and we have had no further instances of this kind since then. However, we recently noticed that the chain is too loose and was dragging on the trolley that raises and lowers the door with a noise that we could hear inside the house. Another quick trip out from Ramirez with the same great office staff service. The technician did note--and he is likely correct--that the little sprocket that drives the chain has worn, leaving the chain too loose and that a sprocket replacement may be necessary sooner or later. But he did adjust the chain. He had run the door up and down several times while he was here and when he left, I thought that, our troubles were over. But several hours later when my wife was returning home, the door refused to open at all when she tried to use the remote control in the car. When I tried the wall button in the garage, the door worked just fine, but then I noticed that this button was flashing, something that had not been happening at any time in the past. Of course it was after closing time, so I decided to dig out my original instruction manual. Eventually I found what the trouble was. Somehow the technician had left the system in "lock" mode, effectively preventing any remote control units from operating the system but still allowing the permanently-mounted button to continue working. After some further reading of the manual, I discovered how to turn off "lock" mode. I was thankful that I didn't need to reprogram the remote controls. The only reason I have given Ramirez 4 out of 5 stars instead of 5 stars is that their spring installation and later follow-up visits evidently should have included a little more attention to detail to prevent the need to perform any follow-up service, even thought it was covered by their warranty. Overall I would certainly use them again, but I might keep a little closer eye on exactly what they might have overlooked. read more

Ramirez Door responded quickly to an issue with a 25+ year old garage door opener. Jason came out and fixed the door and it sounded and operatied better than it ever has. Eventually the door opener would need to be replaced because of its age. When it finally quit on me, I contacted them and again the response was very quick. Jason came out (and on-time) and replaced it and oh my goodness, it was even more quiet and operated so smooth - it purred like a kitten. I was so happy. Called Ramirez Overhead Door company for a repair of a faulty old garage door opener or weigh options on new garage door opener install. I was personally leaning more towards a new opener install but wanted to get a technician to see if there was anything left to extend the life of my current unit Eduardo was our technician and he was very professional and prompt. After explaining our problem, he thoroughly took all the steps to troubleshoot the unit and door. I had a lot of questions and he was very patient and knowledgeable and took the time to explain possible causes to the faulty opener. After isolating the problem, we discussed the pros and cons of repairing versus a new install. His prices were fair and after weighing all options, it simply was more cost efficient to get a new unit over the clanky, noisy unpredictable unit I currently have. We were not able to replace the old unit on the same day as he expended all his time thoroughly troubleshooting and isolating the issue but we did setup an install appointment within a couple of days. The install was flawless. He was fast and efficient and very detail oriented. When he was done, the unit ran so smooth and quiet. Should have done that a long time ago lol.
