We had hired Rami to do reception and wedding decor. He did a half decent job for reception and I could have given him 3 stars for that. But absolutely cheated us for wedding decor. We have had red-flags with Rami from the beginning but I went ahead and gave deposit as we were trying to co-ordinate the wedding from out of state and we had less than 2 months to plan the entire wedding and inlaws visited his office and happened to like his material etc. But is all down hill from here. Few red-flags. 1) Rami asks for entire payment one week before the event. All the vendors that I worked with took deposit before the event and the rest of the payment once the work is done. This is the first red-flag. NEVER EVER give entire money before services are delivered. He purposefully takes money before hand as he intends to cheat his clients. 2) He never agrees to sign a contract with details of the decoration and give a breakdown. Professional decorators always do. He seem to know that he does a sloppy job and doesn't want any legal contract that clients can use to sue him. Second red-flag. Now coming to how we got cheated. He agreed to drape and decorate the wedding mandap. There was a mandap already existing in the temple. A lot of wedding decorators told that they can't do much decor for temple mandap but Rami promised that he can do a wonderful job and he is the most experienced decorator. BUT he failed utterly. He just put curtains behind the mandap and draped artificial flowers around the pillar for which he charged me 4K. It is not even worth 300$ for cheap flowers from Micheals. The existing skirt around the mandap was left as is and it as awful looking with mismatched colors. He left the insides of the mandap as is and no drapings on the top and on the pillars. He didn't even execute 10% of what he had promised. All the wedding pictures have this mismatched skirt around the mandap and the existing cloth fabric on the top of the mandap...the existing is from Temple and looks very tired and mismatching. The most shocking thing is that he sent this nephew and niece who are hardly in early twenties and have absolutely no experience doing decor. The girl who came apologized and confessed that she didn't execute what they had promised. I have an audio recording of what he confessed and I am trying to upload that so that people can decide what a big cheater Rami is. If you ever decide to go with Rami and put your hard earned money in his hand...then please please don't make entire payment before the event. I want to warn folks so that they aren't disappointed on their big-day and lose their hard earned money. read more

Don't get me wrong here, his quality of work is second to none. He has been in the business for 20 years and knows what he is doing. His prices for flowers are rock bottom because he owns a flower farm in Florida. His prices were comparable to other event designers but he does not charge extra for every little thing compared to others-- and his services were impeccable. He went above and beyond to make sure everything I envisioned came to life. He took care of uplighting, stage decor, flowers, centerpieces, flower necklaces, and made sure to remind me of things I was overlooking. I have had multiple friends go to Ramis Mandap for their wedding based off of my recommendation and have been very satisfied. I usually tell them to say "Sana sent me" and he remembers me and speaks highly of me to them and offers them the same great service he did to me. I've gone back to him for other events and I will continue to send my friends and family his way. His warehouse is located in Glenview and he let's you walk through so you can see all of the materials he can provide. Worst decision ever. I had a choice between Yanni and Rami and I stupidly chose Rami, thinking that he had more experience with Indian-style weddings. He was rude, unprofessional, the flowers looked like they were wilting at the end of my reception. I actually think that he re-used flowers from a different wedding he did for my wedding. Why else would he insist on taking my reception flower centerpieces at the end of my reception? That must also explain why none of the flower schemes that I had chosen were selected. I don't even think that he remembered the flowers that I meticulously picked out. The flowers from my bridal bouquet were FALLING OUT during the wedding ceremony. There is footage in my video of me literally putting the flowers back into the holder. I checked with him several times throughout the planning of my wedding to ensure that my expectations would be met, only to be have my voicemails ignored and told "i know what i'm doing" the one time he did answer the phone. DO NOT USE HIM - go with Yanni instead. I went to a couple weddings where Yanni did the flowers and they were so beautifully done! Don't make the same mistake I did. read more

Do not go with Indra Rami as your wedding decor vendor. Most of the details we spoke about (mostly around flowers) were not incorporated at all the day of the wedding. We were supposed to have hydrangeas on a long table that sat 50 people, and there were absolutely none there... anywhere. The groomsmen were supposed to have purple freesia boutonnieres and they were no where in site. Instead, we had a bunch of wilted roses. I was resistant to paying a lot for decor since I liked the wedding venue decor (paid about $7200) and I couldn't get Yanni in time to actually get what I wanted. So I basically settled with Rami's Mandap thinking it couldn't be that bad and most of the other decor vendors were booked. Rami assured us that he would be there the entire day and this was not true either. I didn't see him or any of his staff at all. Do yourself a favor and find a decor vendor at least a year out from your wedding date. I didn't realize how quickly the large decor vendors fill up their schedules. I have had friends choose Yanni's Decor and I really wish I called them earlier so I didn't end up settling and wasting a good deal of money on bad flowers/decor. Lesson learned for me: If you are spending $7200 on decor, just pay more for reliable and reputable vendors!! Also, ask your venue about their experiences with the vendor. Rami had made it seem like he often worked with our venue in a positive way, however it was obvious that the folks at the venue weren't keen on him. That should have been my first clue to take the deposit as a loss and go elsewhere entirely. read more

Service was great, price was right. Everything was beautiful and we got more than we paid for (better flowers, additional fabrics). Rami was willing to work with us on a price that fit our budget. Not like a couple of other places we called, which the first question was how much do you want to spend? Also, Rami has a great sense of style. Rami is an awsome florist, an amazing deal and I highly recommend him. I married into an Irish family so we had both a Christian and Hindu ceremony. He did all the flowers for the church, all the bridesmaid bouquets, my AMAZING calla lilly bouquet, all the reception flowers, cocktail flowers. THe initial meeting is not typical, you either meet in his family's watch shop on Devon or at his home in Skokie. He sketches out a plan handwritten and uses flowers he ships from FLorida. He however has the best deal and the most gorgeous flowers. No one can beat this guy. We looked everywhere and had estimates thousands of dollars above him for bad quality. I had calla lilly bouquets, red roses, beautiful tall centerpieces and a gorgeous mandap for bargain. You must use him...get over atypical first meeting and you will have the best florist in Chicago for the cheapest prices, anywhere else and I would have paid three times what I paid here. Rami is amazing!!!! We used him for our wedding ceremony and reception a month ago and everything was AMAZINGLY perfect!!! First, Rami is smart and very very creative! We told him we wanted to do something different for the reception and he was able to create and sketch something new in front of us. He then walked us back to the store room to show us the materials / backdrops that he would use. We ended up using his idea and other additions that we added on. Second, his price is MUCH lower than any other vendor for the quality of his work. He could easily charge double for the quality of work that he provides. Third, Rami makes you feel very comfortable! We have worked with Rami and his wife for multiple events over the course of 8 years. Let me start by saying his customer service is EXCELLENT. You will not find a more honest, punctual, responsive, creative and affordable team of designers anywhere in Chicago. They come through on their promises- and they work extremely hard to make your event nicer than you could imagine. The last two events I planned with him, I simply called and gave him my color scheme, my budget, the date and location of the event and ask him to impress us as he always does- he did not disappoint! With Rami's Mandap you can expect no hidden costs, and many additional surprises. His payment schedule is standard and reasonable. He has worked many corporate events as well and many weddings (both Desi and non Desi). The drive to Skokie might be cumbersome, but the amount you will save in money and follow up time compared to other places will more than compensate for that. read more

If you are looking for someone who is unprofessional, doesn't listen to what the customer asks, and overpriced then go to Rami. I had a very bad experience with this florist. What we had agreed on were church flowers, reception centerpieces, and the bridal bouquet. Keep in mind that he doesn't write anything down in the meetings you have with him. If you ask him for a break down on how much each centerpiece costs, he will never tell you, but make run around answers. In two of our meetings he tried to put a guilt trip on us because we chose not to use his drapery and lighting. He was forcing us to use some candled backdrop that clearly we did not want, but he said he wanted to use it because he "can look at a bride and know exactly what she wants"... needless to say, we didn't use it because the bride did not want it. In one meeting we had with him he spent the whole time saying that he has a lot of bills to pay and he said that his brother fought with him because he chose to do our wedding instead of another wedding which would have been more profitable. The other thing was that when we asked for that appointment we said we can come in whenever time he is available and he made the timing for the meeting, yet when we saw him he was like "i'm missing temple because of this meeting". That reminds me of another point... He will never show up to meetings on time. He is always at least 30 minutes late. I know about indian standard time, but this is a business and when you make an appointment at a certain time, you should honor it. Back to the flowers.... We had 8 centerpieces at the church. When I saw them, I was shocked at how small they were. Regardless, we were planning to use the church flowers in the cocktail hour, but after the ceremony he came to collect the flowers to re-use them as centerpieces for the reception. When I confronted him about that, he claimed he "didn't remember". So ultimately we paid for 8 centerpieces twice. Another thing is that the flowers were so so sparse and it looked very cheap!!! This was the most disappointing of all. Our guests probably thought we went low budget on flowers by the way that it looked. Unfortunately we actually paid a large sum of money and he really cheated us on that aspect. Also, he did not use the flowers we had discussed in our meetings and basically used whatever he wanted. His claims about owning a flower farm in Florida seem a little fabricated. The catalogues we looked at were from different flower companies and it didn't even matter because the flowers we chose and the colors we decided on was not delivered. Perhaps his farm only grows two types of flowers because that is all we received. By the end of the night the flowers heads were drooping, which is probably because he didn't properly soak the green foam well. The bridal bouquet was poorly made. Flowers were falling out even before the ceremony started. And if you tried to push them back in, it would fall out again. After the wedding, we had a meeting with the reception vendors. They stated that they started the work late for setting up. The doors were open for them at 11am, but they didnt show up till a few hours before. This is probably because they were collecting the church centerpieces. At the end of the night Rami's workers were taking back the floral centerpieces!!!!! Our reception vendor saw this and they told him that they were told that they had to take back all the centerpiece flowers back and some were starting to load them onto their cart. Luckily, our vendor stopped them from taking them back because we paid for them and we were giving them out to our guests who stayed till the end. The reception vendors told us they will NOT use him as a recommended florist for others who are looking for a florist. I know this is a long, harsh review, but the truth has to be said. The other two reviews on here are from 2011... and I created a yelp account just to do this review because I don't want to see other people get cheated out of hard earned money based on those outdated reviews. Rami claims a lot of promises, but when it comes to the day of the event, he does not deliver what the customer wants or pays for. I would not recommend this florist to even my greatest enemy. I highly suggest that if you do go with him, you make a written contract with him before you pay your deposit money because you will get cheated. Unfortunately for us we did it the indian way and agreed on things verbally with good intentions that our hopes would be fulfilled. I wish that we had a written contract because I would have definitely sued him for the job he did at this wedding. read more

Rami did mandap decoration for my sister's wedding this month (Feb 2014). He did an excellent job. Even though the wedding was in a small place in Illinois, he did an amazing job. He is very experienced and gives good suggestions on decoration. Our stage was very big and we selected a small mandap initially, he explained me and my sister that crystal mandap looks good on that big stage and the decoration looked great. I am so glad I listened to his suggestion. The flowers he used were so fresh and he matched the flower colors to colors in mandap. Everyone who attended the wedding gave compliments for the mandap. WOW!! What can I say about Rami...Man this guy took a huge load off our shoulders. My wife and I have been looking for a decorator for almost 3 months. We sat down with Rami at his warehouse in Glenview, IL and he asked us a series of questions about our events, budget, color schemes, etc. He then proposed a few ideas, drew us a possible outcome, and even showed us some of the items he will be using. The rest he said do not worry I will make it perfect and worth your while, and he sure as heck came through. Our decor for all events were amazing mA and many guests asked about who the decorator was. We had close to 900 guests everyone seem to be amazed by his work mA. I would highly recommend any to Rami. He can take lots of stress off your wedding planning journey. read more

i'd give rami zero stars if i could. our experience with him can be summed up in two words: NEVER AGAIN. despite multiple communications (including in person, on the phone, and via email) with him confirming the design of our fabric mandap and the aisle details (including photos of the the exact colors to be used), rami managed to get everything 100% wrong. it's almost as if he tried to give us the exact opposite of what was requested. the order we had confirmed with rami: a royal blue and magenta fabric mandap with white chairs, a white aisle runner and red rose petals, along with crystal ganeshes in the aisle. what we walked into our banquet hall to discover on the morning of the wedding an hour before it was due to start: an all BLACK fabric mandap, with red chairs and a red aisle runner and white rose petals, and red and white flower bouquets running along the aisle. rami could offer no explanation as to why everything was completely wrong. all he said was that it would take him about 4-5 hours to go and get the right materials and redo things (clearly not a viable option). the only way we saved our wedding was because our banquet hall coordinator (a shoutout to Empress Banquets) provided us with white and pink fabric and threw in some free blue uplighting to try to make things look decent. our coordinator also got down on her hands and knees and helped replace the aisle runner. he didn't even end up putting together the mandap we ended up with--a talented family friend put up all the new fabric that was provided. in short, rami is a complete disaster,--do NOT trust him at all. in a follow-up phone call post-wedding to discuss his complete screw-up, all he could say was "sometimes in business mistakes happen". you're best off finding a real professional, and rami is most definitely not it. read more
