There are various knick-knacks, vases, and decorations strewn around the store, reminding you that it might be time to clean your basement/garage. The flowers are kept in a refrigerated unit, and are well maintained. The real reason to come here is for the flowers, so there really ins't a need to dwell on the organization of the shop. The owners are very nice, and are happy to help you put a special gift together. I picked out a beautiful arrangement of lilies and orchids for my girlfriend for about $25. I have good - and bad - things to say about this place. First the good: Beautiful corsages, decent prices, nice and cold and flowers that are always fresh looking, very quiet, peaceful environment. And now the bad. I ordered a corsage for my sisters prom by phone which I was told by someone there I could do. I told them I would be there in 30 minutes. Approximately 35 minutes later I arrived, 2 other women were picking up corsages for their sons and daughters' proms and as I'm there to pick mine up they look at me blankly and as if I was crazy. So now I'm mad already. I tell them that I ordered 30 minutes ago. They check in the back. Nothing. They give me one that was pre arranged but not for me. Thankfully it was a nice cream color, which is what I needed for my sister to match her dress. They were three gorgeous roses that were still dewy and cold, with perfect leaves and little beaded plastic straws that were transparent and small. All in all it worked out. But I'm weary of ordering from them, just because I'm not sure how reliable they really are. read more

Skokie Florist is now my favorite florist, and Kim may just be my new favorite person. I spontaneously pulled in on a Tuesday to see what might be available later that week for some loose flowers I needed for a cake. They didn't have the flower color I needed, but Kim asked to see some of my ribbons/decor and was able to perfectly match the flowers with her magic. She made suggestions and advised which flowers would last longest, which would do better in a cake, etc. She even made me a bow with some of my ribbon! I went back Friday to choose the flowers, and again she delivered with excellent customer service - even gently turning me from some items with sage advice, giving more thought to logic than her profit. Since I was randomly picking flowers willy-nilly, I was expecting rather a large bill, but the price was VERY reasonable. In reference to some other reviews, I wouldn't consider the shop to be dusty or disorganized AT ALL. I definitely preferred having so many items on display so that I didn't have to imagine it in my head. The woman who owns this shop is so wonderful and generous! I bought a floral arrangement from Four Finches in Evanston that I picked up late on a Saturday afternoon. I planned to use it at a baby shower on Sunday. The flowers were lovely but the arrangement was so poorly executed and so floppy in the container I knew it would not make to the shower. I brought the arrangement to Skokie Florist just before closing on a Saturday afternoon to ask if she could do anything to secure the flowers. The lady who owns the shop was so nice. She removed all the flowers from the vase, rearranged the flowers and secured them in a lovely, lovely arrangement. I offered to pay her and she refused payment. I told her I felt I had to pay so she added some beautiful small pink roses to the arrangement! I will never go anywhere for flowers except Skokie Florist. Kim is such a special person!! read more

Super nice lady, but the shop is a little disorganized and outdated. This store sells plants (green plants, cacti, bamboo, and potted flowers), vases, stuffed animals, greeting cards, and a refrigerator of flower bouquets. In the refrigerator, most of the bouquets consist of the same flower (eg. all tulips, all roses, all daisies, all hydrangea). The only bucket of mixed flowers was shockingly $30/bouquet. More prices... a dozen roses is $35, a bouquet of daisies is $12, and potted orchids are $37.50. I probably won't be back because the selection is poor, the designs are not my style, and I can find prettier and cheaper flowers elsewhere. read more

I made the mistake of giving them the incorrect date of delivery but a few hours later I remembered and called them with the correct date which was a week later. Unfriendly. I went in with the intention of booking flowers for my wedding because of previous yelp reviews. I had shown the owner the first picture of the reception set-up I wanted. I guess he figured it's too simple and not worth his time because he was telling me he won't do it because as he said, I could do that myself. Ok, I get that he didn't want a simple sale but he didn't even suggest nor try to show me some alternatives from a catalog, just something! at least some form of customer service. None of that. My fiance and I really felt like this man was pushing us out the door, I didn't even get to show the picture of what I wanted as my bouquet, the 7 bridesmaids bouquet, 7 groomsmen boutonnieres, church arrangements, corsages for our moms and grandmas. We must have looked like we couldn't afford anything to his eyes. We walked away because of the attitude he's been giving us and took our business somewhere else. I went into Skokie Florist yesterday to get an arrangement for a sick friend. All of the bouquets were sold and it was late in the day but they went above and beyond. They made the most beautiful arrangement with sunflowers, hot roses, and purple. They let my daughter and I watch them make the arrangement and both ladies were so friendly. I needed rose petals to help my friend decorate a hotel room for an engagement proposal, so I shopped around for the best prices. The woman at Skokie Florist told me that to cover a hotel room I would need 1 bag for $10. I decided to play it safe and ordered 2 bags for $20. Turns out that two bags was enough. We had plenty of flowers to sprinkle the large suite, on the bed, down a long hallway, and on the table and couch. The rose petals were absolutely beautiful and fresh. I am reviewing Skokie Florist because I had an excellent customer service experience with them today. This afternoon I ordered a sympathy arrangement over the phone. I arranged to pick it up at 5:15pm. I went to a flower shop at 5:15pm but, as it turns out, I was at the wrong shop, which was closed. I didn't realize I had the wrong place and while I waited and banged on the door, I called the owner twice. I left a note expressing my disappointment and left. I got on the phone and ordered from another shop and picked up an arrangement just before they closed. THEN, I get a call from Skokie Florist. At first I'm snippy thinking they blew me off. As we talked, I learned I was at the wrong flower shop. The woman from Skokie Florist was very sweet and understanding and didn't give me a hard time, although I deserved it for being snippy and, more importantly, having her make a bouquet for me that I now didn't need. She didn't try and charge me, saying "That's okay." I'm grateful for her understanding and patience and, next time I need flowers, I'm going to Skokie Florist. read more

Ordered flower delivery from them onlile couple of times. The online ordering system is fairly straightforward and quick. The delivery was on time and flowers looked decent. However flower pictures you see and select online are not really the same they deliver. In fact, flourists have a large tolerance and can substitute your selection or some of the flowers with something else they have available at the moment in stock. So you end up getting not exactly what you selected online which is kind of frustrating... read more

My husband has sent me flowers from here at least three times a year for the past three years. The flowers were always beautiful and lasted a long time. However, today, Valentine's Day, the bouquet was delivered with a broken flower in it, and the arrangement was very sparse, not looking at all like the full bouquet on the website. My husband called to tell them about the broken flower, and then they delivered one single rose & one lily. It was pathetic. Since I work near the florist shop, I drove there to return the flowers to get our money back. The lady at the counter did not care about what happened and did not even offer to let me pick out a better arrangement. I insisted on getting a refund which she finally gave to me. What is the most disappointing about this experience is that all of the previous flowers that I had received were always beautiful and of good quality. Not this time! You would think that they would try to send over a nicer, fuller arrangement in order not to lose our business. But this place simply does not care.
