This was such a cute little ice cream shop in downtown Eau Claire that was an easy walk from where I was staying. The inside smells amazing with fresh waffle cones being made around the clock. The ice cream flavors have fun names. Most of them are combinations of different flavors and mix-ins. I sampled the Mackinac island fudge, Iced Latte-Da, and banana cream pie. I ended up going with the iced latte flavor, single scoop on a sugar cone, which was about $3.94. My scoop was a little smaller than some other peoples - it looks like my flavor was particularly hard to scoop. All in all though, great ice cream stop! read more

I LOVE Chocolate Chip Ice cream and this was some of the best I've had. The toffee made it even better. My wife had a chocolate ice cream -- she loved it. Drove down here recently on a Sunday afternoon while visiting for the day in Eau Claire. I had read someplace that there was a new ice cream shop in town and I wanted to experience it myself. Despite the grey, cloudy, cool weather day, the place was crowded inside with people and their kids. The ice cream/service counter was in the back so we waded our way through the frenetic swarm of kids after stopping at the freezer containing a selection of pre-packed pints of the Chocolate Shoppe brand ice cream they sell for $4.99/each. We sampled a handful of flavors before deciding on a pint of the final flavor we tried - lemon poppyseed - because we imagined it would go really well with the fresh local strawberries cut up and waiting for us back at the house. We waited in front of the counter while our pint container was packed with our chosen flavor. It seemed that the person scooping for us did not put a lot of effort into really "packing a pint of ice cream" for us and their lack of effort showed up later at home while we scooped out individual servings. In paying at the register, I was really surprised that they charged sales tax for that pint. I can understand their charging sales tax on a cone or dish of ice cream to be eaten right then and there; but charging sales tax for something to be eaten off site? Later on, after eating dinner, we scooped out fresh cut up strawberries into bowls and added a scoop of lemon poppyseed ice cream on top and then declared that all was right in the world. Don't bother with anything other than the waffle cones, and ask for a fresh one. The varieties of ice cream are wide to fit anyone's taste, and they are truly delicious. The staff is always more than gracious and I've always left with a bit of a smile. One of our favorite things to do is to head to ramones, and then walk the trail just south of the back parking lot to Phoenix Park. By the time you get to the park, you should be just about done with your cone. Conveniently there is a bathroom at just that spot to wash up. For a more adult evening, I might recommend hitting the bar just below the oxbow for a follow up cocktail. Ramones is just what you want from an ice cream parlor. An old timer feel, quick service, an amazing product. There is a reason there is often a line out the door.. it's worth the wait! read more

Whenever we travel, we always make sure we sample the local cuisine and so, having heard that Blue Moon ice cream was part of the Wisconsin culture, had to give it a try! This cute little ice cream parlor was super close to our hotel, so it was a no-brainer that we HAD to come here after dinner to try a scoop of Blue Moon. It was fairly busy, and actually much busier than most businesses around here it seemed. We were lucky enough to find a table inside,but if you're not, there's actually a great little area out back. I imagine it's quite popular in the summertime. We ordered one scoop of the Blue Moon and it was just the most gorgeous color ever. I've read it described as the flavor of milk left over after eating Froot Loops, and yes, I guess it tasted similarly to that. Not sure how else to describe it.
