Had such high hopes for the Nickel. Positives: the counterperson was super, and working very hard. The food was very tasty. The bad: the counterperson was working by themself...running short order food, the espresso machine, the ice cream, the drive through and the counter. Also VERY bad: the to-go cup softened from the hot coffee and collapsed, popping off the lid and scalding the human holding it. Terrible cups. But the counterperson deserves a raise! read more

If I had a nickel for every time I went to two coffeehouses in one day, I wouldn't have that many actually. After having coffee at The Nostalgic Bean, Tim and I went exploring in Osseo. We visited a few places before deciding to drop into The Nickel Barn. I had seen the signs for it on the way to Eau Claire but wouldn't have imagined I'd end up there. Especially after already having coffee but I figured it was the one time I have to try it and it's my goal to try every coffeehouse in the world... so here we are. The Nickel Barn is literally in a barn. A big red barn. Upon walking inside, you get greeted with a large amount of antiques and a coffee counter in the back right with some ice cream and baked goods to boot. While I was there to try their coffee, I never not look around and this place has some truly unique antique pieces. Tim and I looked around for a bit before ordering coffee. Tim got some kind of refresher and I got my usual americano. We took our drinks to a sitting area where, to our surprise, they had some board games. We took some time to chill out, sip our drinks, and play a few different games. I liked one so much that I ended up buying it a few days later at a board game store in Oakwood Mall. The americano was good. Not super bitter like I typically like but more smooth and mellow. After having an americano a few hours before, it was probably best that I had something with less punch. Tim really liked his drink and wanted something non-caffeinated since he is usually only good for one coffee-type drink a day. Overall, The Nickel Barn was really cool Not a lot I would buy when it comes to antiques since that's not really my vibe but I can vouch for the coffee being really good. Plus, the barista was doing a really good job manning the front counter and the drive-thru window. read more

Cute little shop along I-94. I wanted some "squeakers" (fresh cheese curds) and figured this was a good place to stop. They have baked goods, coffee, Knick knacks and more. I picked up the curds and they didn't disappoint. Nice place to stop and stretch your legs if your on a long drive. read more

I stopped here on a road trip and was so glad I did! This is a family owned store that has a coffee shop and plenty of antique goods! The coffee was reasonably priced and there is cozy seating to sit and enjoy it! There is also a drive through for coffee if you're looking for a quicker stop. For food they have baked goods and a good selection of Ellsworth cheese curds which we were very happy with! The staff were very friendly and welcoming as well! I really enjoyed my stop here and would stop by again on future road trips! read more

Stopped for the coffee flight but was disappointed. Paid $14 for 4 drinks that were SO syrupy and sweet. I could hardly drink them, let alone taste the coffee. My husband likes sweet and had a hard time drinking them as well. The staff was nice though! There's a few little tables to enjoy your drinks or treats. The store isn't very stroller friendly as it's tight corridors and the antiques/candies were very high priced. Make sure to have cash also- they charge a fee for cards which we didn't know before hand. Overall a cute place to stop and check out with friendly people but high prices and not the best coffee. read more

Totally disappointed. We stopped because they have a big sign promoting Cheese and had one sad little cooler of one brand and maybe 10 selections. It's full of junk and new "antiques". Don't waste your time. Oh, and I'm not a mask wearing pusher but it says in the front door that you must wear a mask to enter but the first guy we ran into at the register just inside the door wasn't wearing one. Huge red barn right off the exit, near the Osseo Super 8. Definently worth your time. This is a great place to stop for a coffee or treat and look around. Vendors are all local (I overheard owner say within a 40 miles radius) and the place was packed full of interesting antiques and crafts. Espresso drinks (real espresso), bakery, premium ice cream, and candy. Incredibly clean and decorated beautifully in what I would call a modern industrial farmhouse style. The business is ran by a nice family, the day I was there it was the dad and 2 of his teenage kids were running the place. They seemed like very nice people. I didn't make it upstairs but the main floor was lovely. read more

So glad my family found this lovely place on our way home from Wisconsin Dells! Owner and son were extremely sweet! We got ice cream cones for the kiddos, espresso to finish out or drive, a yummy fresh loaf of bread, local cheese and honey and even a nice piece of art!
