Whilst waiting for my Uber to leave the charming burg of Healds. I happened to be in front of this shoe repair shop and thought..."maybe they have an olive green colored polish?" This very morning I happened to put on an old pair of olive colored loafers and noticed that they needed a little love. I'm all..."This is perfect! It's meant to be!" So I go in and ask the gentleman manning the place, "do you have such & such color?" He says yes and directs me to said option. It's the last one of this particular color. But of course it is. How many people have olive green, colored shoes? Perfect! Let's make it happen. I pull out my phone to pay and he pretty much says, "there is a minimum and it's $10.00." There is a sign on the cash register as well. Totally understandable. I get it! I tell him "Sorry I rarely carry cash and I understand." He proceeds to say "it's fine, he'll let it pass this time." "Wow! Thanks. That's nice of you." Then he proceeds to start to scold me for not carrying cash! I tell him "well, I don't carry cash because I always end up spending it or I end up giving it to homeless people." He proceeds to pontificate that it cost three dollars per transaction and that he has to pay for it and that, what if there is a blackout and all the cash machines crash and burn and Armageddon and blah, blah, blah! I'm like, "no shit. I understand how it works." But you're the one who is foregoing your policy. I didn't ask him to do me any favors. Don't give me the green light and then let me have it for actually using it. If you needed the $3 bucks so damn bad, don't sell it to me then! I was willing to walk out of there without the Goddamned, polish. And in all actuality, I'm helping this guy move a color of shoe polish, that no one really uses and he probably won't inventory again until he needs another huge shipment. So, you're welcome Mr. Ramos. You're welcome for me, helping you, move an item that's probably been on your shelf for months, if not longer. Him bending over a nickel to pick up a dime, really left a sour taste in my mouth. Instead of being a gracious, small business owner, and absorbing the lousy $3 transaction fee. You made the whole transaction miserly and cloyingly annoying. Next time just keep your mouth shut and let the customer think that you're a nice guy who loves to take care of his customers. Continue to do what you do best and stay triggered. I was a fan until you got cheap on me. I needed my boots repaired as the soles needed replacing. I called Ramos Shoe Repair since there are very few shoe repair places around. Ramos was rude right away. I was super confused and just figured maybe he was having a bad day. I had my friend drop off my boots since his hours did not coincide with my schedule. Ramos was rude to my friend, and when I called a week later to verify my boots were done, (since I don't live in town), and he was horribly rude, ruder than the first time. The was he spoke to me was completely disrespectful and demeaning, questioning me, demanding answers, just like my narcissistic sociopathic ex used to do to me. I was so upset for the remainder of the day I was dreading picking up my boots. If he speaks to polite paying customers this way, God help his family!!! Picked up my boots, and he told me I should have dropped them off myself, WTF? I had a photo of the ticket my friend sent me and he told me I needed to delete it right now! The bottom of a heel fell off one of my Stuart Weitzman boots, making them unwearable! I brought them in and both heel bottoms needed to be replaced to make the heel heights equal. For $20 total and a quick turnaround time around the holidays, my expensive boots have been given a second life. And I'm a happy customer. Now I just need this rain to let up so I can wear suede! If I could leave no stars I would. I went in on May 13th 2025 with two pairs of beloved boots I was hoping could be repaired. I had tried to glue one boot before, as I was at a job and could not go home to change shoes. That was the first thing he was rude about. I asked if he could glue the soles back on, and he said really rudely why didn't I just go home and glue them myself. After several other nasty remarks from him I left. I went back in and said to him that he was rude to me, it was uncalled for, I had come in friendly and smiling. He said he had been in business 50 years, did not give a damn about yelp reviews, and as I was walking out he called out "Bitch!" I am actually grateful to see I am not the only person he has treated this way, I am sorry it happened to any of us who do not deserve it. This man should retire, as he has no shred of decency left in him. I highly recommend Ramos Shoe Repair! After the repair of my shattered leg, that leg was shorter than the other leg. George was able to work with my existing shoes, and expertly add to the soles of each right shoe. With each style of shoe, he used the appropriate materials to blend with the shoe as much as possible. He did an awesome job!!! Ramos is a great artisan. He charged me $40 per right shoe, and I feel that's very reasonable. And what fast service! I also liked his shop which is very organized, as well as having a good selection of new, quality work boots, new shoes of other styles, cool totes, and other accessories. I found him to be helpful and friendly. I will definitely return with some more of my shoes for him to adjust. read more

I brought a pair of shoes to get some protection for the red-bottom sole. Ramos (I assume he's the owner) immediately said: "we don't do that." Then he handed me a business in San Francisco and, in a very condescending tone, began to lecture me on how shoes just naturally get scuffed as we wear them. I said I have many shoes that I wear often that still look great because I protect them, including sole protective layer. I said I had gone to another shop before in Santa Rosa and they performed the service there. He said "why don't you just go there?" Not only his shop doesn't provide the basic shoe services such as sole protection, his manners are rude and off-putting. My nubuck boot had a stain and needed rescue. I brought the shoe to the shop, handed it over to Mr Ramos for assessment, and held my breath as I waited for the prognosis. It didn't take long. The news wasn't good (he couldn't do anything for any stained suede/nubuck shoes). He even tried an eraser on it (which, as he expected, couldn't help either). But still, his demeanor was pleasant and I appreciated his honesty. He even gave me tips on shoe care and products I could use for waterproofing. read more

I have never written a review before on any business and I rarely return merchandise. But I just left this shop and was surprised with the poor customer service. I bought a pair of sandals for $50 about 2 months ago. For some reason they shrunk to the point where I couldn't even put them on. When I returned them, he said I must have done something wrong to cause it. He asked if I left them near a heater. I didn't. I explained that I use them for swimming and do leave them in the sun at times. You would think that would be ok. He then gave me an exchange while saying, "no more free ones". I was grateful and thanked him but was surprised with this comment. I was going to ask what he meant, but another customer was in the store so I left. I came back a few minutes later and thanked him again but also asked him what he meant by the "no more free ones" comment and he said again he wouldn't be giving me any more "free ones". I couldn't believe what he said. I should have reminded him that I paid $50 for the original pair. I told him I didn't need any "free ones" from him and left saying I would never come back. He gives a great quality service and he is also a craftsman. His store is full of his handmade crafts for sale at a reasonable price. I wished I had read these reviews before walking into that jerk's shop. I have never felt so insulted by a shop owner. I was picking up my boots, had my ticket stub, waited 20 minutes for 1 person who was speaking to the man about her shoe misfortunes. Finally he turned to me, grabbed my stub and then asked that I locate my shoes in his messy shelves from the counter because he couldn't find them. Got quite sarcastic because I couldn't tell him the exact height of the boot and finally, after trying to give me 3 other pairs that didn't belong to me, he handed them over. I asked him why didn't he just track the stub and that didn't go very well. When I left, he asked me never to come back!! Yes folks, I'm not exaggerating. Rude, disorganized and inconsiderate. I have to say the man who runs this shop is HORRIBLY MEAN!!!! I have had him work on two different pair of shoes over a 12 year span of time. My very first experience with him I thought maybe he was having a bad day, and so gave him the benefit of the doubt, but OMG was I ever wrong! The second time I left in tears!!! He snapped at me and was sarcastic over me misplacing my receipt. After I paid and left I searched again through my wallet and found the receipt. I actually walked back into the store to give him the receipt as I thought it would help him with his book work. What a mistake.....he reamed me inside and out, saying; '' Why did you come back here? I TOLD YOU TO FORGET THE RECIEPT, it does me no good now"!!!! When I apologized and explained I thought he might need it for his books or taxes, he said "It won't help me with anything, so please leave". I was in shock and cried all the way back to my car. I kept trying to forget all day how terribly I had been treated that morning, and how that jerk ruined my day, and I have to say I have NEVER been treated so terribly by anyone. How this guy is still in business I will never know! I personally got the distinct feeling he has a chip on his shoulder for non Hispanic customers. I know that's terrible to say, but after talking to others in Healdsburg about my experience, they too said, he treats many people that way. So after all this, when I got my boots home he didn't even use black cording to fix my suede boot, He used chocolate brown, so now one shoe has black cording and the other is brown! What a bunch of grumps on here! I am someone who buys high quality shoes and keeps them in great condition. For many years I needed to add some height to one of my shoes to correct my posture - then after a hip replacement I had to have those same shoes brought back to normal........so I've been to Ramos much more than most people. He does an excellent job, is always careful to review what is to be done and the budget. And yes he will tell you if the shoe you brought in won't match up to the cost of a repair. I've brought in even sports shoes that required his purchasing special glue to complete the job and he's adjusted my shoes form me. I've brought in expensive delicate high heals that needed an invisible addition under the exposed insole and then a bit on the spiked heal - beautifully done! Go in some time and ask him to teach you how to properly polish your shoes! He'll help you - he has the best assortment of high quality shoe polish you'll find and the brush supplies you'll need. I have 20-25 year old "Bally" & "Gravati boots and even Cole Hahn sandals that look good as new after new soles/heals and a polish. As to those of you who say there are "Plenty" of other places - good luck finding a great shoe repair anywhere we're lucky Healdsburg has one - I used to drive all the way to Mill Valley before finding Ramos! read more

I am stunned by any positive review of this establishment. No exaggeration when I say that never in my life have I received more rude service. Its seems as though several others have received the same treatment and the owner of this establishment has created quite the local reputation for his surly, can't-be-bothered attitude. I brought in several pairs of shoes to Ramos (with a kind greeting and a smile on my face). He sneered at me, looked at the shoes and stated curtly, "well these have mold on them. I probably can't get them clean." My response was "well, please do your best." I then showed him a pair of my wife's shoes (she had indicated that he would know what to do with them - he is, after all, a cobbler). He shot back at me, "how should I know what to do with them. They are your shoes." I was really stunned...and almost thought that he was joking. I respectfully asked for all of the shoes back and he stated, "yea. save you some money." Without exception, I have never had such an experience in any small business. Our conversation ended with me noting that there are many other cobblers in the area whom I am sure would appreciate the business. The owner's response was, "you'd be surprised." Thus, while he is convinced of his perceived monopoly on the local shoe repair business, I found a number of excellent options. Well worth the short drive to Santa Rosa or Windsor to avoid this guy. This is the best shoe repair shop I've ever been a customer of and I have lived all over the world. The owner is always gracious and considerate to me and my family. He's been caring for my family's shoes for the last 35years. The repair work has consistently been refined, exacting and artistic. If a strap has torn off, it is reattached so the repair isn't visible. New stitching is the same color and stitch length as the original. Our beloved suitcases, book-bags, wallets and purses have all been ingeniously repaired to last a few years longer. If he notices a pair of shoes wearing down at heels, he ask's if we'd like protectors and taps them on while we wait. Because of the excellent craftsmanship my friends from out of town leave their repairs with him when coming to visit. My children and my siblings drop off repairs when visiting us in Healdsburg or on holiday. The owner is always polite and kindly. His charges are so very reasonable I find myself wanting to give EXTRA for his caring and exceptional work. He is one of our unsung Healdsburg heroes! read more
