Quoted $15 per pair for toe/sole protectors, I bargained down to $25 for 2 pairs to which he agreed. The first pair he did was the one on the right, using larger mens size protectors. The second pair on the left he tried to give me with only sole guards (smaller size) without toe taps. I told him we agreed for both tip and sole guards on both pairs. Looking upset he was caught trying to cheat, he went back to his shop and placed tips that are for women's shoes (smaller size). I pointed out the size differences for both tip and sole protectors with the shoes on the left getting smaller, what looks like women's shoe size tips. He ended up charging me the full price of $30 plus tax on what should have been $25 as agreed, with one pair getting women's size protectors. I paid the full price only to end up being cheated. The third pair of shoes that need to be glued for soles starting to peel he refused to do when he already committed on doing them. Please, take your shoes to be fixed elsewhere. I felt it was overpriced, he didn't listen to what I asked for on one pair of shoes and 'repaired' something that didn't solve the problem even though I explained the problem and gave an easy solution for it. No care for anybody else's time or patience. Gave him my shoes in early April only wanted some splitting and scuffing in the leather shoes fixed and the heel to be glued back down. I waited over a month and a half and never got a call from him. Finally angerly went in May to ask him what was up. My shoes were essentially ruined. Covered in a white substance I couldn't get off by licking my thumb and rubbing hard, more scuffing, more splitting in places the leather hadn't been split before, and some brand new dents in the shoes like he had laid something heavy atop of them. I told him to fix his mistake. His excuse was to blame his worker for this. He even closed due to covid recently and didn't have an answering machine to pick up his calls. Went to his store and left a note with my number. Nothing. I NEVER got a call from him. It's now July and I just gave up on my shoes and bought a new pair. Glad I only gave the guy $20 down payment. After the wonderful, five-star Mr. Tate died, I brought a favorite pair of expensive, comfortable sandals out to Canul to have new Velcro put on in two areas. He repaired them with a very different color of Velcro (that was very visible) he must've had on hand and he only did one of the straps! I had paid $60. I went back later, after three surgeries, including for lung cancer, plus a death and two trips to see if he'd fixed them. I live in Two Rock, so Calistoga Rd. wasn't convenient. His worker couldn't find them. I was finally in the area today to pick them up and he said he got rid of them as it had been too long since I originally brought them in. I was shocked and asked why he hadn't called me. He said he did. 100% he did NOT. I NEVER received a call from him. I am out my most comfortable sandals AND the $60. There is a reason he has poor ratings, even though there are no good shoe repair shops since Tate passed. STAY AWAY from this shop! read more

Bought my wife's $200 Donald Pliner shoes here for a repair of one heel. Yes, he repaired both heels so the shoes are the same height. But he also took it upon himself to patch the leather on one heel back, even though I told him not to when I dropped off the shoes. I complain here because the patch is done poorly, looks bad. $17 for the repair job. Alternative: I have used Express Shoe repair at the Coddingtown mall for a different pair of shoes, and he did a much better job. And that's where I'll go from now on. read more

Came here to get the tabs on my heels replaced. The shoes are suede and I noticed when the job was complete that they were cleaned and buffed, which I did not request, but greatly appreciated. The service was fast and the job well done. $14 to replace. A little on the high-end, especially since I'm used to having the soles and heels either redone or protected quite often when I purchase new shoes or wear through them. So I'm very familiar with shoe repair prices, but they seem to be a bit higher in SR than the city prices I used to pay. However, he did do a fine job and I'll definitely be coming back. But just a warning, DO NOT expect great customer service. The dude was a little rude at times, but I honestly think he's not even aware of it. I brushed it off and walked away with the level of work that I was hoping for. So I'll take that. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Got a sole replaced on a Sandle from Mexico. These sandals were maybe $7 in Mexico. They claim they replaced sole with Italian leather. These were $13 soles at the most and it was cheap plastic and not leather. There was no leather replaced on shoes. They did such a bad job gluing them in that you can see the glue on inside of sole. As mentioned, they never replaced any leather in or on the shoes. Tried talking to them and texting them and they play stupid claiming it is cost if leather or just not return calls or text messages. They are nothing but con artists. They don't even give you a quote or receipt. Run away fast before you get hoodwinked too! read more

I took in a pair of patent leather heels to be stretched. When I came back to pick them up he handed them to me as if I wouldn't notice he tore the shoe!! There was an obvious half inch split of the leather right on top. When I asked him about it he pretended he didn't know anything about it. He said it must've been his "helper". He said maybe he could fix it. There is no way to fix a break in patent leather. I couldn't believe how ridiculous it was for him to suggest that. It was apparent he attempted to fix the shoe with some black glue. I don't know why he didn't just come out and tell me the truth immediately with an apology. Yep that's right, NO apology! He gave me some cash back but not enough to replace the shoes. This was my first and last time going there!! read more

I have had him do several shoe jobs for me and gone there to get stuff. I found him very competent and conscientious.

I wanted to give a good review because they do seem like very nice and friendly people. However, communication is lagging and workmanship wasn't impressive in my experience. I had a backpack with a broken zipper. I contacted them and they were initially very responsive and helpful. Said they were doing pick ups/drop offs since they lived down the street and they were new to the area (and due to Covid). Said they could fix my zipper for $14 so I thought that wasn't too bad. Got it a couple days later and it worked great. For about 3 days. Then the zipper broke again, so I'm honestly not even sure what they did to "fix" it. I contacted them again saying it was still broken, they didn't respond for a few days. I contacted them again asking them if they could help me and they said they could give me a new zipper pulling for $14 or it'd be more to replace the entire zipper (I didn't get a quote for that). I said no because I didn't want to end up spending more on the zipper than I did for the bag (I thought they should have offered to waive the $14 since I already paid that and it's still broken). So once I said no they then said they'd try to fix it again free of charge, so I said ok. They said they'd contact me the next day to schedule a pick up. Never heard from them again. I was getting tired of trying to hunt them down so I gave up and will take my business elsewhere. read more

I took a pair of shoes to him to resole, which he did for a pretty spendy price! Did not call to tell me when they were ready, didn't answer the phone when I called to check. Finally got them back and the soles were great but inside of one shoe was torn and black at the heel rest. He claimed it came in like that, called me a problem.
