So the next day I bring my Jordan's for him to look at and he looks at for it a minute trying to figure out what kind of shoe it is and I know he already knew it was Jordan's and then he asks me if they are new or old. Then I said they are new. Then he says at the end I don't do Jordan's. This guy is so lazy I suggest you don't ever take your shoes to get repaired by this old guy. Very friendly and nice guy but I came home UPSET at the work that was done. The stitching looks bad... At the consultation I made sure to ask if the stitch would be yellow and I was told yes. And we had a good leather color match. When I got it all of the leather was painted along with all the stitching. My LV bag looks like a cheap dupe now. I loved the look of the natural untreated Vachetta leather and the signature yellow stitch. I don't even want to wear it. Money wasted. Again he was very nice but the work done was not. read more

Don't waste your money. My first (and last) experience with this store was unpleasant and expensive and the job -- to re-heel two pairs of sandals and a pair of boots -- was done shoddily. I will have to get the sandals re-heeled in the near future because of the low-quality (yet expensive!) re-heeling. Caveat emptor -buyer beware: The cost was high. It cost $25 for a simple re-heel on a pair of wedge sandals. That's $50 for two pairs. Then the owner wanted to charge $60 to re-heel a pair of short leather boots. The total cost would have been $110. I balked and he brought the price down to $100. I paid even though my gut was telling me the price was too high. But I wanted to give this small business a chance. But as the saying goes, no deed goes unpunished. While the boot re-heeling was fine, the sandals were another matter. I'm going to get them re-done at my usual cobbler, Healdsburg Shoe Repair. If I hadn't already been in Santa Rosa, I would have taken them to Healdsburg. Lesson learned. But the cost was almost ancillary to the terrible and creepy customer service. First, the owner's manner was overly familiar and condescending. He's the kind of person who has to be the smartest (and loudest) person in the room. The kind of person whose gregarious and jokey demeanor thinly veils the sneering hostility underneath. I was alone in the shop with him and he also asked me inappropriate personal questions about my ethnicity that made me uncomfortable. I was relieved when someone else walked into the store, ending his questions. You have to pay first, so I paid and then when I came back a few days later, he couldn't find my shoes and sandals even though I handed him the ticket number for my order. Not very organized. After a few minutes, I finally spied them in the corner and pointed and said, "There they are," and he rudely interrupted me and said, "Yes, here, I found them." OK, dude. Whatever makes you feel better. Then he started asking me invasive, racially tinged personal questions again in his strange, jokey manner, so I matched his demeanor, which he did not like. He said in a challenging way, "I don't know about you." Which is a strange and very unprofessional thing to say to a customer. I smiled and replied, "I don't know about you, either." If my grandmother were still alive, she'd say, "Don't waste your breath; the pendejo is not worth it." So I said goodbye and left. I would give a zero, but it's not an option. We took some wedges to get glued as one was coming apart. The gentleman with the long curly hair was very rude, that should of been the first sign not to leave the shoes there. He said he could fix them and ask for payment up front. We paid and went back to pick them up and saw that they were in worse shape then when we left them in his possession. They were glued on but he damaged the shoes to the point where you couldn't wear them because they looked damaged. We asked for our money back and he refused to give a refund and wanted to give us a credit for half what we paid to return in the feature lol. Horrible customer service! I wanted estimates for three BRAND NEW pairs of designer shoes. I'm not sure if the guy didn't understand me or they didn't care to listen to what I wanted. I wanted an estimate for protection on a pair of boots and to stretch another, NOT to pay to "repair" shoes that are supposed to be BRAND NEW, which is what happened! I wanted to have the NEW pair protected, NOT the one I'm returning! I also had a pair with a minor defect, which he kept trying to add to my ticket after I said "NO" multiple times! I needed a pair of good shoes stretched as they were a bit tight. This guy was flirting and told me what a good person I was. I left my shoes, which he said he could stretch and oil and make them look brand new. He told me they would be ready in 3 days. When I returned 5 days later he did not know where my shoes were and ASKED ME TO FIND THEM on his shelf. I did and they looked exactly the same as when I brought them in. When I pointed that out to him, he slathered on some shoe cream with his hand to show me what he used, then asked me to try them on with globs of cream still wet on the shoe. I took my beloved cowboy boots to get resoled here. They did such a wonderful job on them. They completely replaced the sole and also spiffed them up while they were at it (after a couple of years of rain and snow and no polish they definitely needed it). This was over a year ago and the soles of my boots still look great. They did such a great replacement that they are nowhere needing to be re-soled in the future. I've now had five items repaired at Express Shoe Repair - a purse, a pair of my daughter's Converse, and three pair of Birkenstocks. All of the repairs were done very well, very professionally. The owner warned me that two of the pairs of Birkenstocks would be difficult repairs because the shoes were old and well-worn, and had lost cork from the soles. I love shopping local, but oh man... First time I came in here, I asked him if he had any cream to polish my shoes and he was very standoffish even though there was absolutely no one else in there. So after some weeks, I came back today since I was on my way to Dick's Sporting Good, which is super nearby. To my surprise and joy there was someone different. A female, which I am assuming is the owner's wife, and she was SO NICE and HELPFUL. I was so happy with the service that I purchased a cream for not only my black shoes, but my brown ones, a new brush, shoe trees, and polish dauber. She gave me tips on how to apply it on the shoes and answered all my questions politely. Although I brought my shoes in there to compare the color of the cream to the shoe color, I noticed when I came home that my brown shoes had a red tint in the sun. I called and gosh dang it he picked up the phone and was greeted with a harsh and quick "SHOE REPAIR! YES!" I told him if it would make a difference since the red tint isn't prominent and he said "JUST BRING IN THE SHOE! BYE!" I was beside myself and was about to drive there and return EVERYTHING! But I just called him back and wanted to talk to him and give him one more chance. The man is straight shady. I brought in a nice pair of dress shoes that simply needed to be glued back down to the sole. He charged me $40.00 (which by the way you pay upon dropping them off and before work is completed). Not thrilled with my experience. I went in to have the heels on some boots fixed as they were a bit worn down. The boots are light in color and the heels were originally a light wood color. The owner charged me $48 to fix the heels (which seemed very pricey and way more than I expected) but I went with it anyways since it saved me from buying a new pair. Flash forward to the day I pick up my boots -- there was a sign on the door "be back in 10" so I waited around for 10 or 15 minutes and he arrives. I walk in and he tells me to find my boots on the floor (in a huge area with tons of shoes). I finally find them and had to ask if that was it or if I needed to sign anything. Silence. I'm almost ready to leave when he reaches out his hand to grab the boots and takes the tag off and doesn't say much (super awkward and a bit confusing). The boots: the light heels as mentioned above are now dark brown don't match at all. He put weird dark stuff all around the bottom sole. He also put some sticky crap all over the entire boot (which I do think will go away at some point), and they are dirtier and have a bunch of dark streaks all over them. Also, the heels are uneven and feel weird when walking but hopefully they will even out. So basically I regret taking them here and needless to say will not be taking any more shoes here. read more

I paid $30 to have a pair of light brown leather shoes dyed black. Simple enough, yes? I went in to pick them up and handed the man my tag and he told me to find them myself on the shelf! It took me a little bit to find them and was somewhat taken aback by his brusque behavior. I left rather quickly and didn't look closely at shoes until I got home. They were unevenly died with large streaky parts and looked terrible. I only took my shoes there because it was convenient for me to get to at the time.
