I was looking for someone to resew a button on a leather jacket, and I called Apple Cobble. The proprietor (I think his name is Brian) answered the phone & said he might be able to help me, & suggested I come right in. When I got there, he looked at what I thought was a button about to come off, evaluated it, & said the button would definitely hold as it was. Great experience! Called to see if the rubber heel on the pumps I need to wear next weekend to a wedding could be replaced. Made an appt for an hour later & was greeted in a warm, welcoming, neighborly way which I love about many local businesses! He introduced himself and fixed the shoe on the spot. He is an artist. I took in my favorite high heels for repair and they came back looking new. Call and leave a message before going to the shop, he always calls back quickly. It's like making an doctor appointment for your shoes. If you are looking for fast repair, this may not be the guy for you, but if you want exceptional work done on the shoes you wear...this IS the guy to go to. He prices are reasonable and quality of work is one should expect with every cobbler but rarely experience. I know my repaired shoes are not going to fail me. Update: I took my favorite boots to him on a Thursday and was told two weeks, which was acceptable. The next night I was called and my boots were ready to be picked up. I am surprised that no one has written to attest to the expertise of boot creation and repair by Michael Anthony. I do not own a pair of cowboy boots but I have many friends who will only take their boots for work here. I do own many pairs of high heels that I dance all night in. I called around to leather specialists and that is how i was referred to Michael/AppleCobbler. This guy was willing to come and meet me on a Sunday at lunch time and open his store just for me. I had an unusual need to fix a nice watch with a leather strap that had broken- he did it on the spot while I had brunch around the corner and brought it over to me (!) and charged me only $15 to do it. I am sure if I went back to the Mfg for a replacement strap it would easily be $50. Plus he fixed it with stitching in a way that it is better than the original. Sign on door says "open by happenstance or by appointment" wanted to get my dance shoes resoled and drove down there to find the shop closed at 1:30 pm on a Wednesday. Didn't want to give it one star since they might do great work, but it would be helpful if the owner included a notice on yelp that it is by appointment only. read more

Nice guy and excellent, fast work. I brought on my wife's fluevogs and some other fancy heels - she was considering tossing these two pairs of shoes that cost around $200 a pair and I brought them in and he made them look wonderful. One pair was a bronze/copper color and he cleaned it up and put some Color on the toes. They will work great. And the fluevogs looked brand new practically. He also fixed the heel on a pair of her fete boots, and the wood veneer like material that surrounded the heel, it was all ripped and scratched and it's brand new, and he polished and cleaned them up well. I'm taking in two more pair of her frye boots to get a complete new sole and heel. She's really happy with me and his work also :) read more

Have a favorite travel purse and the strap broke on it. Thought I'd take it to a cobbler and see if he could fix it. Michael does custom boots, but he stopped his busy schedule to fix my purse, and guaranteed his work. 6 months later the strap is still strong, only now the one on the opposite side started to wear... so I took it in again, and he perfectly matched it to his previous work and now I should have my favorite bag for a long time to come. read more

There few times in life when you run across an individual with such incredible skill and personality. Michael is a master of tannery and boots, as well as a thinking and aware individual. His passion for what he does, his customer service and commitment to excellence, and excellence he imparts into his craft is unparalleled. I have traveled the world, I have been very lucky and seen and done many things but I have never run across such flawless output. My family insists on humble excellence, and I don't think that I could ever reach the level of humble excellence that Michael exercises through his expertise. You should see his replica of a pair of Abraham Lincoln's boots. Immaculate, amazing and beautiful would be an understatement, yet he hands them to you as if its any other boot for you to inspect and the examination is bewonderment when you attempt to examine any flaw or undue mark. Once you meet Michael and feel his passion and energy for what he's doing now, the inspiration alone will propel you on your own way much less leave you with a wandering/wondering of what style of boot to order (if you haven't owned quality boots, like me).
