My dog would not be here without Ramsey Animal Clinic. I adopted my 5 year old dog this year and she was spayed twice. The first time my dog's organs fell out after the first week and the second time her scar never healed. My parents suggested that I bring her to their vet (Ramsey Animal Clinic). The doctor realized that she had an infection and that she needed another surgery. Prior to her having this surgery she was lethargic and sat by the door whenever I brought her to my parent's house. Now there is no sign of a scar, she lays with my family on the couch, and she plays with my parents dog. She is healthier than she's ever been. UPDATE: The office called to say they "did their best" and we should take down the negative review. My step-daughter didn't need the call from them. Apparently "doing their best" means exacerbating the condition; not recognizing the animal is minutes from dying after the treatment; sending it home with you to "walk around" (died instead) for a mere $1000. If this is their best it tells you all you need to know. ORIGINAL POST: The Bishnoi's are uncaring hucksters. My step daughter has taken her cat to this clinic for annual well-care and all other needs for a couple of years since her old vet sold out to the Bishnoi's. The cat was lethargic but had eaten her can of food and was walking and aware. She was however obviously sick as evidenced by the lethargy. We took the cat to them mid afternoon for a 4:00 Appointment. When arriving the door was locked and we could not get in. They finally came to the door and opened it explaining that they had an emergency with a dog and locked to door in order to attend to it without interruption. Once inside the cat was examined and the Dr made a few observations and we agreed blood tests should be done to see how serious the cats condition was. While doing the blood draw the Dr blew out two veins and ultimately inserted an IV into the neck to administer fluids and other treatments in an effort to give her a boost overnight while we waited for labs to come back the next day. After roughly handling the cat and administering treatment Mrs. Bishnoi put the cat on the floor. The cat literally took 3 steps and fell on its side. She picked the cat up and was trying to fold its legs to get it in the crate saying we needed to take her home to rest. My Wife is a BSN and was quick to tell her that the cat looked like it was dying on the table. The Bishnoi's debated this and then finally took the cat into a back room where it was given 5 minutes of oxygen while they had us pay over $1000 for this service. They then sent us home saying we should just let her walk around for the evening and recuperate. By 5:15 the cat died in the crate before we could finish the 10 minute ride home. My step daughter is a wreck. When told this happened they offered nothing but to say the cat was sick. It was sick but it went from eating and walking to dying within less than an hour of Dr Bishnois treatment. We are seeking a refund for the services that were billed and never rendered, unauthorized or unnecessary due to the cats death and subsequent notification to the vet. read more

They charged originally over $800 for our two cats to have a wellness check. They also charge $25 per cat to get a nail trim, even though we trim our own cat's nails. Then they said "well we tell you ahead of time to trim them", which they did not. Had they have told us, we would've done it ourselves. Also charged for a mandatory stool sample even though our other Vet did not do this unless there is an issue.Tried to charge for leukemia shots which aren't needed for strictly indoor cats. Doctor is also not very personable. Update: Received a call from the Vet tech about this review. She was rude and dismissive. I'm totally opposed to the negative reviews, especially with the ones that talks about money. They performed a emergency surgery for us, with much less than half of what VEG asked for. He also told me that Olivia needed needed intervention for parasites, and if I could bring her back that night. I recently had an emergency with my dog and my regular vet was shut down due to Covid. I called at 2:30 PM a Wednesday afternoon and they had me bring my dog in at 5PM the same day. I took my dogs here after my original vet retired and gave my records to this vet. Every visit, the vet suggested various vaccines, insisting that my pets needed them, and also gave them steroid shots "for pain" after the vaccines. Not only were my vet visits hundreds of dollars every single time, I have also found out they were being over medicated with vaccines and medications that were not needed. We rushed to the vet as our kitten was very sick. We had no idea what was going on. We thought maybe it was her stomach. We waited outside waiting to be seen and all communication and correspondence was done on the sidewalk / street side. Maybe an hour later the doc comes out with a $1200 bill. We took our kitten home as we did not want her staying overnight there. My kitten was suffering at that point and so we rushed her to what we thought was the animal hospital but it was another vet office. However, after seeing her immediately they told us to go to Oradell hospital. We rushed there and unfortunately, had to put our baby girl down. Our hospital bill did not even come close to what the vet bill was. We were able to go inside the hospital and be with our little girl as opposed to being held outdoors on a street level. I tried going to this place when my vet retired and boy was that a mistake! First he kept doing needless Lyme tests on my dog, when clearly there were other bad issues that needed to be addressed. My dog ended up having a huge tumor in his belly, but nope, that was never addressed by Dr. Bishnoi. I sent his test results out to another vet hospital, and they said that it was very clear by those blood tests, that my dog was going not going to make it much longer. I also took my other pup to him for arthritis medication, but if I did not order it from him, he would not renew the prescription!!! A mere half an inch skin cut on a dog because the pet groomers accidentally grazed on a protruding micro chip buried under the skin when they were doing a regular haircut on the dog costs $832.52. We, the pet groomers were aghast with the price because we promised the owner that we will take care of the medical expense (thru our business insurance). Not only did they include anal sac expression (which shouldn't have been done today) costing $46 which is usually free as a courtesy procedure on your vet visit; but they did a rabies vaccination, too in an already stressed out patient. They already charged $286 for the minor laceration stitching but they did an additional $49 fee for the bandaging. Isn't bandaging already a part of the wound dressing? And where did I see any bandaging because it's not even necessary in this kind of wounds? Consultation fee of $59 is charged too when they already know that a necessary surgical procedure will be done today for $286. BTW, I called this clinic and asked how much they charge for a spay (17 lbs dog) and he said around $600. At first they didn't want to give me a price because they said they have to examine the pet first and do some blood test before they can determine the price (really?). Then, If a more invasive surgery such as spaying costs only $600, why is a very superficial 1/2 inch skin cut costs $832 to repair? $286 for the repair of a minor laceration is too much. He made the wound much bigger and put 10 badly done very tight stiches, and maybe some wound dressing which costs $286. That's not including bandaging ($49, which I didn't see) and anesthesia ($145) which I doubt he gave bec the pet was able to wake up and go home after 2 hours. The tax is only $3 (random #?). You even have to pay for the waste disposal fees yourself (lol!). This clinic charges more than a human hospital. I am a retired veterinarian myself but this is ridiculous. The pet was discharged after 2 hours in the clinic and it will cost us $832.52. An accident like this is inevitable but the cost is upsetting esp. when it's not justifiable. I have to contact the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Examiners about this because it's not fair for the pet owners who come to this clinic and get ripped off. BTW, I spoke to Hartford who handles my general liability insurance and I'm thankful that we have zero deductible. I'll wait and see what they'll say about the bill. I know it's not fair for them to shoulder this exorbitant veterinary medical expense. read more

I rescued my puppy last October and I have been with Ramsey Veterinary Clinic since then. I absolutely LOVE this establishment. I am a new dog owner who is a bit narcotic. They are ALWAYS available to help me when I need a last minute appointment, need my records printed, or just have an question. My Puppy has been sick sadly several times so I have spent a great deal of time with Ramsey Vet. Clinic. They even came in on a Sunday to look at my dog cause I was nervous she was ill. I highly recommend them and it is always a great source of comfort to know they are a call away. read more

We have been going to Dr Bishnoi for years and he's always taken wonderful care of our three shih tzus, so we were very excited when he opened his own practice so close to our home! He and his wife are wonderful and make our dogs at ease when we bring them there! They do not become nervous because they are greeted with lots of joy! In particular, Dr Bishnoi was wonderful in diagnosing and treating one of our dog's medical conditions when he was a pup after other vets could not. SCAM ARTIST! STAY AWAY! I brought my dog in for stones in her bladder. They immediately said there was no othert option but surgery. They charged me $1400 for the surgery then insisted I buy special food only from them. Less than six months later my dog had the same issues. They told me she needed surgery again. This time They charged me $1900 for the same surgery. When I questioned the price the attitudes showed up. They began insisting that prices had gone up and that I had to pay. I didn't want to cause a scene so I payed the bill. After the surgery was completed they told me I had to pay another $85. I told them that they would lose me as a client of they attempted to charge me more. The nurse flipped out and caused a big scene threatening to call the police. I then gave them the additional $85. When I brought my dog back a few days later to remove her stiches they charged me an additionasl $75 saying that had to give her an IV. Needless to say I have since found another veterinarian. This guy is a scam artist. Save your money if you can- I went to this vet for the first time with a cat I had recently found on the street. Even though the cat was friendly and mild mannered this vet charged us $22 to clip his nails- something we did not ask for, did not need, and something I could've done myself for free. Additionally they wanted to charge $300 for a snap test I could get for $35 with the TARA clinic. They charged $29 for a dewormer I could get for $8 elsewhere. After doing a preliminary round of blood work I was emailed results that I called this vet to get an explanation for. He never called back: a result, I'm sure, of the fact that I told him I didn't want to spend any more money at his clinic since I knew I could find somewhere cheaper for any additional services I might need. All in all, he wanted to charge me $500+ for a preliminary visit with a basic snap test, fecal exam, dewormer and rabies vaccine. FYI: TARA charges 70 for a neuter/spay, rabies vaccine, nail clipping and ear cleaning all included. read more

If I could give this vet 0 stars I would. I have always used Friends of Animals to spay or neuter my pets. I choose to use them again and was happy that a vet close to home participated in the program. So I took my dog in for pre surgical consult, which according to FOA should be included except for blood work. Well I paid $207.00 for a free surgical exam and blood work that should cost no more than $65.00. Everything checked out and he was scheduled for surgery. We brought him in and was presented with a bill for $317.00, which included pain relief (which was suppose to be included with the certificate (($75.00) from FOA).so for a total of $ 599, my dog was to receive low cost neutering. I called my regular vet, and inquired about the cost and for $580 my dog would receive state of the art laser surgery. Please do not use this vet. Dr. Bishnoi takes advantage of patients that are just trying to do the right thing. read more

I just wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about my "special find!" I was so excited to see a Veterinary Clinic open in Downtown Ramsey, NJ. I have been going to Oradell Animal Hospital for over 20 years. While I have always been very happy with the service my pets have received at Oradell, it's not always the most convenient or cost effective option. Needless to say, when Ramsey Veterinary Clinic opened I gave them a chance - I always believe in supporting local businesses. I was pleasantly surprised and knew almost immediately that I had found my new "hometown" Vet for my 5 dogs. Dr. Bishnoi and his wife Raj (his assistant) are very lovely, compassionate people. Dr. Bishnoi has been in practice for 30+ years. He practiced at Emerson Animal Hospital prior to opening his own shop here in Ramsey last year. As mentioned, I have 5 dogs who invariably have some sort of health concern/issue requiring medical attention. I am happy to report that Dr. Bishnoi has exceeded ALL of my expectations. He is not only thorough but is genuinely concerned for the welfare of my pets. Like many others, my dogs are a very important part of my family. I am very protective of them and want only the BEST - and that is what I feel I have found with Dr. Bishnoi the BEST! He is always able to squeeze us in, especially in emergency situations....and always seems to know what to recommend/prescribe in any situation - From Skin and Ear Infections to Density and Immunizations to Heart Conditions....and everything in between. His fees are very reasonable, especially in comparison to larger animal hospitals. I would highly recommend Dr. Bishnoi for all of your pet's medical needs.
