When looking for a dog and kid friendly place to stay in Bisbee, the options didn't seem great. Then, I stumbled across The Gardens at Mile High Ranch. I spoke to Henry on the phone, who was very nice, and decided to book it for a night. When we arrived, Henry greeted us with cookies, gave us our key, and showed us where to park. We were able to easily unload our luggage because we parked right in front of our room. The room itself is adorable and had everything we needed. My kids loved the bunk beds, and the vintage American Standard kitchen sink is SO cute. The bathroom was clean and there were extra blankets, coffee, and VERY thorough directions on how to make everything work. There is a binder in the room that can answer any questions you may have and recommendations to restaurants, bars, and tours. In the evening we were given everything we needed to roast marshmallows in the courtyard next to the fish pond. There is a small hike on the property that my kids and I also enjoyed. The location is fantastic and only 3 min from downtown Bisbee. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Love this place! Rick and Henry are the best host. The property is AMAZING and they are making improvements all the time. Would be beautiful place for a wedding! Can't wait to return.

We had a great stay. Charming, rustic B&B and great hosts. Be sure to explore the grounds. Many seating areas, Koi pond. I loved the wrap around porch where we stayed, Room 6. Great place to have a reunion or large group getaway all while having your personal space. It's a quick drive to Bisbee. We needed more time!

The Mile High ranch offers beautiful views and amazing hospitality, whether you're staying the night or just charging up your Tesla. The hosts are amazing. We came from out of town and needed to charge and they were so kind to us. We are sad we didn't see this place before booking our stay. We will be making another trip out here to stay soon!

Nice local art work on display

I have made three visits here now and I can say, I am a fan of The Gardens at mile high ranch. I am a San Diegan but love to come to Bisbee to get away. Check it out for yourself if you are looking for some peace and nice weather. Two sisters operate it and I have enjoyed seeing what they have done over the years. Bisbee is such a great town. On a side note, if anyone is headed to San Diego, Yelp has lots of good info on place to go.

It's so quaint and artsy, and the stairs provide a built in mandatory workout. I feel like not only would I be a happier person, but I'd also be thinner. Word to the wise, if you are out of shape and do not want to broadcast that to the person you are sharing a bed with ... not going to happen. Now, the owner is incredibly sweet. He gets up and puts out bird feed every morning so that by the time you wake up birds will be all a flutter outside your windows. How amazing is that? Even if I never made it out of bed before 11. They also provide fresh bread, eggs, milk and a little OJ to get you started that first morning ... or to devour that first night after hitting up the local bars. Whatever. I only spent a weekend, but a longer stay would definitely be preferable. It's so relaxing and peaceful, 2 days is not enough. P.S. I wasn't kidding about living here. What kind of deal would I get on an indefinite stay?

There are rolling grassy hills that are golden in the winter and green in the summer. A lot of people don't realize that the temperatures down here (due to the elevation) are much like northern Arizona in the winter -- so it's a great alternative to "going north" to cool off in the Summers. Temperatures rarely reach 100 on a Summer day and it cools to the 60s at night -- a luxury we don't get in the Valley! Our most recent visit (February 2012) was windy but gorgeous. No jackets required! Toni, proprietor, has started a gluten-free / allergy-free bakery and makes human AND dog treats! I can vouch for the human treats being delicious -- I especially liked the quinoa cookies. And, there's a lot to do in the area. No less than 11 winery tasting rooms are near by (there is a limo service you can hire if you can't agree on a designated driver). Or visit Parker Canyon Lake which you can walk (5 miles), fish or rent pedal boats or kayaks. Patagona Lake is larger and offers a lot of amenities and both offer camp sites. But, why camp when you can stay at Whisper's Ranch?! And, finally, Kartchner Caverns are a convenient stop on your way back to Phoenix but be sure to make a reservation! Southern Arizona, and particularly Whisper's Ranch, are great alternatives to heading north for a quick getaway!

The owner has many food allergies so she can prepare gluten-free and allergy-free foods for guests. The location feels remote, but it's less than 30 minutes from a large town (Sierra Vista) and 6 miles to a major Army base. We've stayed in many B & B's and this one is tops by far, and very far from "basic" accommodations. They do ask for advance reservations - the owner mentioned that her husband died suddenly, leaving her with many responsibilities, to include running 5 businesses with little help! We got a tour of the animal sanctuary next door, and we're so happy to patronize a business that supports such a worthwhile charity. The location is peaceful, near the vineyards, and surrounded by the National Forest. Hard to find accommodations like this for this price! Highly recommended for a peaceful get away. No tv's means you get to reconnect with your traveling companion!! It was wonderful!

The cottage itself made you feel like you were right at home. It was beautifully furnished and well equipped with basically everything you need except your own clothes. You do need to bring your own meals but the pantry was very well stocked with a variety of items and Kim made us a delicious quiche which we had for breakfast the next morning. They also gave us some very fresh eggs from their chickens to take home. The property was beautiful and so peaceful. Just outside the kitchen windows, you can see a wide variety of wild birds hanging out by the feeders on the trees. They had many chickens at the barn and cute little chicks that were just recently hatched. Kim was so patient and kind around our daughter, who helped her feed the chickens! During our morning walk, Cody the horse and Wilbur the goat even came over to say hi and allowed us to pet them. Our only regret was not being able to stay for longer. We will definitely come back soon! So if you live in Tucson (or anywhere else in the world, really) and want to getaway from the city, please do yourselves a favor and stay at Kim and Tom's!
