I went to a lot of different consultations with many different plastic surgeons and Ranch and Coast was my top pick right away because of how friendly the atmosphere was and because of how great the doctor is. He was the first doctor to point out how my face wasn't symmetrical due to my cerebral palsy and gave advice right away on what could be done to fix it. I also had a really difficult nose to operate on in my opinion because of the shape and severe breathing problems. He fixed my problem perfectly and made my nose look a million times better. I initially consulted with Dr. Chasan regarding a minor rhinoplasty to soften a bump on my nose and slightly refine the nasal tip. During the consultation, Dr. Chasan stated "Let's address the low-hanging fruit," stating that "with your eye hooding, a nose job alone won't brighten your face." I expressed concern about undergoing any facial procedure that could result in visible scarring. Having lived with a facial scar since childhood, avoiding additional visible scars was extremely important to me. I specifically asked whether a brow lift would be a better option. Dr. Chasan told me that a brow lift would not adequately address the hooding of my eyelids. I then asked for assurance that any incisions from an eyelid procedure would be concealed within the natural creases of my eyelids. Dr. Chasan assured me that I would have no visible scarring and emphasized his extensive experience performing this procedure. Based on these representations, both my mother and I believed he was qualified to perform the surgery safely and appropriately. My mother subsequently provided the additional funds necessary to add a bilateral upper blepharoplasty to my rhinoplasty. On the day of surgery, Dr. Chasan entered the preoperative room and marked my eyelids freehand with a surgical marker. Although his assistant had placed measuring instruments on the counter, he did not use them. He performed no measurements, no objective assessment of brow position, and no evaluation of eyelid laxity, although these preassessments are laid out on his website. He did not lift my brows or perform any detailed examination of the structures surrounding my eyes. In fact, he performed no physical examination of my face with his hands or any device before making the surgical markings. Following surgery, my mother and I were shocked by the outcome. The incisions extended beyond the natural boundaries of my eyelids and curved upward toward my eyebrows rather than remaining hidden within the eyelid creases as I had been assured, and my eyelid creases had been raised up into an unnatural and unsightly position. In addition, my eyebrows appeared pulled downward into a lower position and were noticeably uneven. The resulting appearance was dramatically different from what had been discussed during the consultation and contrary to the assurances I was given regarding incision placement and visible scarring. Instead, I was left with permanently lowered brows and a constant sad and tired appearance due to the altered shape of my eyes. I later learned that excess skin, muscle, and fat had been removed from my eyelids--procedures for which I DID NOT provide informed consent. My nose also appears collapsed, lacks definition, and looks nothing like the reference photos Dr. Chasan specifically asked me to provide before surgery. When I raised concerns during my post-operative appointments, Dr. Chasan became dismissive and defensive. Even after my mother insisted that he compare my before-and-after photographs, he refused to acknowledge the significant changes to my appearance. When we asked why my eyes appeared misshapen and why I had scars extending beyond my natural eyelid creases, he became irritated and stated, "I feel like I'm being attacked," rather than addressing our concerns. At no point did Dr. Chasan disclose that he had removed muscle and fat from my eyelids. I only learned the extent of what had been done after obtaining and reviewing my operative report. To this day, he has never explained why these procedures were performed or why they were necessary. I have since consulted with other specialists, who have informed me that there is little that can be done to restore my brows to a natural position. Any attempt at correction would likely require skin grafting and could create additional cosmetic issues. There is a chance that the shape of my eyes can be improved, with the initial surgery costing over $30,000. Dr. Chasan never informed me that he was going to be removing muscle and fat from my eyes, only a small amount of skin. He never warned me than my eyebrows would be permanently pulled down out of their natural placement. He never warned me that I would be left with such an odd appearance, that I wouldn't be able to fully close my eyes, and that I would be in chronic pain for over a year now. I am devastated, and my family and friends are devastated for me, by both the outcome and the way my concerns were handled. He was dismissive and refused to address my concerns. When I began crying in his office, he said "Enough of the emotional stuff!" I rarely leave my home, I am embarrassed for my family and my husband's friends to see me, and cannot take photos with my young daughters. None of us ever imagined that I would be left with permanent facial disfigurement and unanswered questions about the procedures performed. While there may be little that can be done to reverse what happened to me, I am sharing my experience helps others. read more

Dr. Chasen did not listen to me, he did a poor job on my surgery, didn't care about my dissatisfied results and basically said "get lost" at my post op. Horrible bedside manner: insulting, talks over me at all appointments, dismissive of my concerns pre and post op, very paternalistic in his approach and repeatedly at separate post op appointments tried to justify his results by saying "you should be happy with your results because before You looked like Mr. Peanut!" At my last appointment I finally had to tell him to stop describing me like "MR. PEANUT" because it is insensitive. He just shrugged his shoulders and looked at me with an expression like "well you looked like Mr. Peanut!" I had a brow asymmetry and needed my right eyebrow lifted and the edges of both brows pulled up "fox brows." I had been correcting with Botox for 10 Years and it was just becoming a burden and is tricky for injectors. I came in 3 separate times with Dr Chasen to go over and over what I wanted and be precise because he talked over me a lot and he brushed off what I said. I showed pictures of "fox brows," I pulled up my eyebrow edges to demonstrate, he said "yeah yeah I'll pull up from there." I felt unsure he understood what I wanted because our appointments were so quick and he talked over me, but his step daughter the billing intake assured me he knows what "fox brows" are and "I'd love the results!" I assumed an eyebrow lift must be such a straightforward easy procedure and must be why he is so dismissive. I paid 9k, even though I was quoted 5k by Dr Umansky in La Jolla, I paid more because I assumed being in Del Mar he must be good and since it is my face, it is worth it. He did my procedure in 30 minutes. After it settled my right brow was STILL lower, still requires Botox to make them even. I had no outward lifting, as in NO FOX BROW. He changed my arch to be a frown shape-so no arch and no fox brows, just 2 ugly frowns. At the first post op he said "I'll just add some Botox to lift your lower brow and if you're not happy-we can go back in under local and fix it!" When I came back he was in a bad mood, didn't even listen, said my head was tilted in the photo and they are actually "even" and "I've done this on thousands of patients and doing this for 30 years, I know more than you and if you don't like it, that's on you, I'm not touching it and if you want it fixed go somewhere else." And walked out and didn't even say good bye to me. Mind you-I was polite, kind, gentle when I admitted I didn't love my results and still think my right eyebrow just wasn't lifted enough. I said I wouldn't even be mad if we had to go back in to correct-i just wanted a good result. I had tears in my eyes, I even cried a little at the last appointment, I was never rude, I never yelled, I kindly asked him not to describe me as Mr Peanut, but otherwise did not deserve after spending all that money to be treated like a piece of shit. :( I'm don't know if I'm more upset about my treatment or my eyebrows. I do know that Dr Chasen figured out by my address that my husband is friends with his ex partner Dr Vince Marin whom they had a falling out with and perhaps this was a personal vendetta, who knows. At one of my first appointments he mentioned "my old partner Dr Marin always swore by sculptra and it never worked, that guy didn't know what he was doing!" Anyway, yes, it's better, but it easily could have been even and I did not get any lateral eyebrow raise/fox brows! I STILL have to correct them with Botox. I do not recommend if you are looking for a professional and peaceful environment for your surgery. I woke up from my anesthesia to a ton of nurses/ doctors / staff talking loudly and laughing about vacation stories or something like that (I don't remember entirely). It's was an extremely bright, cold and boisterous environment that caused me anxiety for the rest of the day. How I woke up from anesthesia set the tone for my recovery. They used to be good. It was more calm and relaxing. More caring. Gave you more food and water after surgery. Now they just want to rush you out of there and don't care about your comfort. read more

I was referred to Dr. Chasan by a friend and fellow Emergency RN for removal of my 15 year old DD implants and breast lift. I reviewed Dr. Chasan's website, qualifications, before & after photos, and was blown away. My consultation appointment with Dr. Chasan went great. Dr. Chasan spent time with me to answer any and all questions I had for him. Being in the medical field and knowing what could go wrong makes it hard to feel comfortable about surgery. My pre-op appointment went fantastic, that office is a finely tuned machine! Dr. Chasan spoke with me again about the surgery after the nurse reviewed everything with me. The packet provided with all of the pre-op and post-op care information was extremely informative and kept me on track with how to prepare for surgery and take care of myself through each stage. The medications prescribed for post-op recovery were exactly what I would have hoped for as a nurse. I left my pre-op appointment with no questions, no anxiety. Dr. Chasan had, and still has my full trust. Surgery day was flawless, the nurse was attentive, Dr. Chasan spent time talking to me about the surgery once again, and the anesthesiologist made me feel very confident that I was in good hands. My results are fantastic! I had very little breast tissue to work with, which Dr. Chasan expressed his concerns about, and I'm blown away with my results. Dr. Chasan is truly an artist. Dr Chasan and his team are the definition of excellence. I researched for so many years until I finally found the right doctor and office. My consultation which was initially very short because right off the bat Dr Chasan completely read my mind and knew exactly what I wanted and needed, and I trusted that he could give exactly that, and there was immediately an unspoken bond of understanding and trust. I had to write a review because I wanted to share my most recent experience getting Botox and filler at Ranch and Coast. I started coming here to see Casey and she was amazing. I had been other places but she blew other injectors out of the water. When I called to make my appointment this time, I was informed she had left the office. I had hesitations about seeing someone different but trusted her replacement would be at the same standard. I have to say I wasn't happy with how she did my Botox, I asked for more but she felt I didn't need it even though Casey had always used more, and my radiesse barely made a difference this time. But that's not what really bothered me. When I came in they said their payment system was down. The injector proceeded to ask me for my credit card (which was fine) but also for me to write down my social security number for them to run payment once their system was back up. When I said I wasn't comfortable with that she said " well we're very professional here" as if that should make a difference. I found this strange that I was even asked for something that could compromise my personal information like that. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Chasan and his team. Firstly, the patient coordinator from start to finish is super responsive and walks you through things every step of the way. I was an out of town patient, and she was ridiculously patient with all my questions, before and after, and never made me feel like I was a burden. Then, of course, there was Dr. Chasan himself. Very professional. Obviously a busy guy, but, has made time for pre-op phone calls, post-op phone calls, and has answered all my questions. In person, had ample notes on the my case before meeting, and added extra the day before surgery so that we were totally on the same page. Then of course, was the quality of work. Holy moly. I did both a flute augmentation and a breast augmentation at the same time. And let's note, my breasts were more of a reconstruction effort, not a simple task. The healing had been AMAZING. My scars 6 weeks out from surgery are better than they were PRE surgery! I was expecting to be out of commission for a couple months, given the double whammy. But I felt pretty normal in only 3 weeks. I could not be more impressed with the healing process. And the results are EXACTLY what I was looking for. My breast are nicely smooth, clean scars, and round but not crazy fake/high. My gluten got just a little extra projection, but don't look "fat" or that dramatically different from my natural shape. Just a slight extra "wow"-ness :) Other people may be looking for different things, but the fact Dr Chasan could hear what I wanted and deliver, was huge. Loved everything from start to finish! I've been a patient of Ranch & CoastPlastic Surgery for almost seven years and had great experiences until recently. In October of 2019 I had an allergic reaction on my left nasolabial fold from fillers. I don't fault the nurse injector (Kasie has 20+ years and I trust her completely), since there are inherent risks that one must assume, whether or not there have been adverse reactions previously. My issue is with the practice and their policy. In March 2019 I had banked Radiesse fillers at Buy2Get2 (which basically is buy1get1). I used two syringes and have two still banked. Last week I called the office and asked for a refund for the two unopened Radiesse filler syringes. I don't recall the name of the lady that I spoke to, but she told me that after checking with her manager (Jen) that they're unable to refund my money ($625.00) because I had already used two syringes. I called again yesterday, 10/06/20 and asked for my medical records to be emailed to me and again I asked for a refund for those two unused/unopened syringes as I DO NOT want to risk another allergic reaction. Anne told me she would email me my medical records and would have to talk to Jen (manager). Instead of emailing my medical records, Anne emailed me receipts for the Radiesse (to show me that it was through their BOGO special) and told me that they're unable to give me a refund for the unopened (banked) Radiesse. They're trying to make it seem as though my purchase doesn't translate to buy1get1. It is obvious that they don't care about me as a patient and doing what is right by me (allergic reactions be damned!), but would rather try to confuse the issue so they can keep the money. It only takes a review of my medical record notes to see that I had a reaction and it is a valid request. They lose nothing by honoring my request--neither money or product--but my business and referrals, for their greed and disregard for patient safety and satisfaction. Ranch & Coast Plastic Surgery was synonymous with safety and prestige--ranking almost 5 stars consistently for years. I noticed that changed in the last year or so and I'm understanding why. Money (and legal action) is what matters. Save yourself the money and aggravation and look elsewhere because Ranch & Coast Plastic Surgery is overpriced, money-grabbing, underwhelming, and pretentious at best. read more

At ranch coast you are greeted and treated like family. Dr Chasan has a keen eye for giving you features and results that will go above and beyond your expectations. So it took me a year to write this review because I wanted to give R & C the option to do the right thing. And no such luck. I was referred by a close girlfriend of mine to Dr. chasen in January of 2018. I felt very comfortable at the first appointment with both the Dr. and Rachael the office manager/ financial manager. I was in the process of interviewing a few different surgeons so I was just here for a consult. I interviewed a few other surgeons but based on my girlfriend's recommendation felt it was a good idea to go with Chasen. When I called the office, I was informed that Rachael was on leave and that another lady was filling in. I told her I wanted to move forward with putting down a deposit which I did over the phone. This was a Thursday. She at that time explained nothing about the amount not being refundable not that I was even considering that as an option at that moment. She booked my pre-op and surgery for a few weeks out( end of February). On the next day(Friday night), I saw my gf that referred me and she informed that her implants were noticeably uneven, she was very unhappy with the results, that she had a follow up appointment with Chasen, and he had agreed to give her another surgery to fix it but in the meantime she should sleep with an underwire bra and one side flipped so that it pushed the lower boob up. Naturally, you could imagine...I was freaked out so I called first thing Monday to cancel my appointment. 3 days later and over 2.5 weeks+ before my pre-op. I was told at that time they don't do refunds and they would not give me one. I asked a few times over the course of the next few months and still nothing. So in the end, I accepted they wouldn't refund me and asked if I could get a different service there such as a facial or Botox or something to use up my credit because no way was I going to get a breast augmentation there. They still said no. The whole time I was very nice in my requests and hoped that someone of this caliber would do the right thing. I'm shocked with their reputation that they wouldn't accommodate me in any way. Shows you the true colors of this place. I hate writing negative reviews but I suggest you take your business elsewhere. I also had sent them two big referrals after my consult and encouraged those people to go with another surgeon which they did. See Dr. Miller in La Jolla. I used Kasie for filler and it was the best experience I've ever had. Kasie is very precise, she knows what you need to get the best results and my face looked completely natural afterward. I have been to a few other surgeons for different procedures. I wish to goodness I had discovered Dr. Chasan's practice first. I believe that the previous surgeons did a good job, breast augmentation and Botox with one doctor and liposuction with another, what was dissapointing was the aftercare. Once surgery was done and I paid a significant amount of money and after the post op appointments I felt like I wasn't really a patient. Never a phone call or anything. After my first round of Botox with Casey and consult for surgery with Dr. Chasan I knew I had found the THE place!! One comment that stands out that I overheard Dr. Chasan make after my consult with him was, "let's make her a Chasan girl". He knew I had surgery with two other surgeons and wasn't 100% satisfied. Botox to my forehead frown lines is amazing. I'm 41, single mom of an 8 yr old girl and 11 year old boy and TIRED!! I could benefit from some under eye fillers as well, but the difference with only having Botox to forhead area is AMAZING. As far as my upcoming surgery with Dr. Chasan goes, I have a Belt lipectomy scheduled for April 2nd. I'm beyond excited but also nervous. I went into see Dr. Paul about a lip lift, he suggested also a corner lift I decided to go with his recommendation. I liked the shape and the results of my lips but my issues were the scar that I had on the corner of my right lip and then the lines that were forming on the left corner like frown lines going down which I didn't have prior. The scar almost looks like I have a cold sore or a bad scar that didn't heal right and the other side just makes me look older because of the Unusual lines. I have been trying to work this out with Dr. Paul for a Year and a half.I wanted to originally get laser And we were going to do that then he decided no you need fat transfer that will break it down .I did not see how that That would solve the problem. I didn't want to do the fat transfer but he highly recommended it. I live in Newport Beach and I have to travel to San Diego to see him. I've made a couple appointments but had to reschedule due to work and Breaking my wrists but I rescheduled weeks prior so as not to affect his schedule. Also during the healing process I sent him photos to keep him updated. He called me and told me not to send any more emails it takes up too much of his time. The last email I sent I stated I know you don't want me to send any more emails I have a quick question... what is the downtime and do you have any before and after pictures. He emailed me back claiming I'm playing a game I've canceled four times and if I don't come in this time August 3 then forget about it. I sent an email back stating wow that's how you talk to your patients I asked a very fair question and you couldn't respond other than saying I'm playing a game People have to cancel appointments due to their schedules and the fact that I am still in pain with a broken arm. I will not see him and I do not recommend him he starts out being great and then he turns on you and I don't think he can correct the scar read more

Cannot think of a nicer staff and ambience than Ranch and Coast. When I walked in Kylie and Danielle greeted me were courteous, answered my questions and couldn't have been any nicer. Kasie worked with me and it was as if we had known each other for years. She asked me what i wanted, gave suggestions and tips with her years of knowledge and was especially witty and funny. When I was finished, Kylie and Danielle again helped me with a couple of more potential issues and couldn't have been more genuinely nice and helpful. Since this initial review, I had the occasion to re-visit and deal with several other personnel including Dr. Paul himself, Wilma, Jewels, etc. all courteous and exceptional at what they do. Dr. Chasan and his staff were not only friendly and accommodating, but the most skilled with my type of procedure that you can find. Other surgeons can come off pompous and arrogant while Dr. Chasen was approachable, warm and has a true passion for what he does. Over that past 10-years I have seen many surgeons in regards to my past procedures and was unimpressed with the staff and doctor themselfs, Dr. Chasan made me feel secure and comfortable-I really trusted him and he came through with the results I was looking for. I will only ever go to him for any future beauty or cosmetic needs. I had two very bad experiences with previous doctors that left me feeling taken advantage-off and insecure. Dr. Chasan was able to diagnose my issue right away and was reassuring that he could help me-and he did! Looks like my original review was deleted. Dr. Chasen has charisma and his staff are trained to make you feel like a beauty queen. BUT ...HIs surgical techniques are so rough and the incisions so poorly done, it's hard to believe he is still in practice. I still have mild nerve damage in my face. The filler dissipated within 6 months and my face looked very bad. He was very reluctant to make any modifications. $20,000 later I must add to that cost for corrections. read more
