Park Place does a nice job pulling people in, and the latest example was a foam party for kids on a…read moremuggy Saturday morning. Their little pavilion area was PACKED with families, music bumping, and overall a nice time. A lot of the businesses here sort of "Control C + Control V" from other areas of town, mainly the one I live in, Brookside. Red Door, Plate, Shake Shack, Aixois, Rally House, etc. It's part of our city's (IMO) disappointing sprawl, but it is what it is. They also turn the pavilion area into an ice rink in the winter, and there are some good spots to eat in here as well. Not a place I'd regularly seek out living far away, but nice to have and I like how they set up things for families each weekend in the summer.

I believe I found some of my returns in here. I'm surprised this store is here off of Metcalf. I can see if this store were off of Southwest Blvd in K.C., KS. or maybe in Olathe because of what has happened to Olathe, but here in Metcalf J.C.? The items are varied. A lot of mismatched items and as someone else had said, like garage sale unwanted items. I guess if you are young, lucky to have moved out on your own, this would be the place to get some light house furnishings and kitchen utensils.

As with other malls in the metro, this was a mall that was wheezing and hacking it's way to the morgue but suddenly, to the credit of the developers here, it changed. A combination of a well placed Target, a plush movie theater remodel with reclining leather seats, and then the coup de gras, a Trader Joe's has made this place relevant. I will say the east side of the mall parking lot is nightmare fuel. It's too condensed and the whole lot lacks any real flow. Tread cautiously. The west side of the mall is more my jam as you can pop into Gary Gribble's Running Store, Starbucks, and a handful of other good spots with relative ease. It still has that weird, echoey mall vibe when you're in the heart of it, but it's not quite as massive as some other malls that are now memories.

I remember pre-covid I used to go here to hunt for a steal on clothes and usually left with some goodies. On my recent visits I've left often without anything in tow, as I think there are often better deals online. I will say, however, that on our most recent visit my husband was in need of a new suit for work and knowing how expensive suits can be, and that he only needs to wear one a few times a year, it was great to find a good price on one here for him. Additionally they were able to alter it in house, which made for one less stop. Overall I'll continue to shop here, but I doubt I'll ever be as frequent of a shopper as I was pre 2020.

The only thing I mark down for had nothing to do with the stores or the staff. The customers visiting these stores totally trashed them. Shoes tried on and left on the floors, clothes pulled of the hangers and left on the floor, merchandise left all over the area before getting to check out. How hard is it to try on a pair shoes and put them back on the shelf! This is totally unfair to the staff and other customers. These stores will start having a hard time keeping staff if they are subject to this and guess what, the stores will go away! Please show some respect!
