I admit I do enjoy the experience! I understand this isn't for everybody and I also realize some folks would feel they may not get the same treatment. I think that's something important to acknowledge in reality and something I hope Von Maur takes very seriously. I did note that they offer an interest free card and that is incredible and unheard of these days! I didn't think to look but I really hope they offer a layaway plan as well. And hopefully for a very small fee since some folks may not qualify for credit but would still like to buy a nice gift for someone. I absolutely signed up for the interest free card. This is very smart of this company because they will get your business but not charge you absorbent interest! Refreshing! I did enjoy my couple of hours there. Not being from the Midwest, I had never heard of Von Maur but I wondered in because I was curious!. It's very lovely and they had decorated for the holidays. Unfortunately, I did not see a live piano player on the first floor but the piano was there and they had lovely piano music throughout the store. They have numerous departments with many fine offerings in apparel, cosmetics, accessories, and more. I didn't see any home goods which I would have enjoyed as well but it's not a huge store. I'm not sure if that's offered at any other location but maybe 1 day, it'll be added. I also wish they had a larger selection of petites but at least they have that section! Let's talk about price... There are a lot of mid range (nice but not outrageous) designer brands. You can easily spend over $100 on a pair of jeans or $200 on a dress or coat. BUT, they also have sales (I saw a lot of 30% off on some brands) and they have sale racks with markdowns. By wondering around I figured out there's 2 levels of sales racks. One is a first mark down. Here you'll find the $160 jeans for $80-$125 (as an example), but there's also a second section of mark down racks in the departments (usually 2-3 racks) with a second mark down. Here I found a $120 dress for $35 as an example. I think while it's definitely a more expensive, luxury brand place, there are some more budget friendly options. Everything I bought that night was on sale. AND I found a pen mark on a dress I really wanted that was on double mark down. The incredibly nice sales lady in the department walked the dress all the way upstairs to the alterations department and they all tried to get the mark out for me. She was equally attentive to me as a customer buying a $35 dress as one that cost $200. Even when she could not get the mark out, she helped me decide on another one from the sales rack that was also $35. I really loved that and when I need that $200 dress, I'll go back to Von Maur and when I want to have fun buying a few super sale dresses, pants, etc, I'll also go back to Von Maur because they valued me no matter what my budget was that night! I wish I had gotten her name. Just in case, she was around 5'3-5'4, shoulder length blonde hair, and was wearing a cute set from the store which I want to go back and get now. lol she was working in the downstairs juniors and women's department area on the night of 11/29/25. She is great! Make sure you treat her well! All the sales associates I encountered were terrific. Another one helped me open my interest free card. We closed down the store that night but were never made to feel as if we had to rush out even though we were respectful and paid and left right after they closed. I remember pre-covid I used to go here to hunt for a steal on clothes and usually left with some goodies. On my recent visits I've left often without anything in tow, as I think there are often better deals online. I will say, however, that on our most recent visit my husband was in need of a new suit for work and knowing how expensive suits can be, and that he only needs to wear one a few times a year, it was great to find a good price on one here for him. Additionally they were able to alter it in house, which made for one less stop. Overall I'll continue to shop here, but I doubt I'll ever be as frequent of a shopper as I was pre 2020.

I have a hard time understanding how a shirt that I inspected front and back 4-5 times, that looked…read moreperfect in every way, could have a burn hole right in the middle of the front when I got it home. Since I live far from the store and take a long bus ride, I made an extra effort to check every inch of the shirt, multiple times, to make sure I would not need to return it. I noticed at checkout that the cashier picked up the shirt and bent down behind the counter with it for a moment before standing up and putting it in a bag. So I decided to search on Amazon for what could have made a little black burn mark right on the middle of the front of the shirt, and I found, for $12, a cauterizing pen. The only possible way I can think of for the mark is the clerk bent down with it behind the counter and vandalized it with a cauterizing pen. There is no other explanation for it.

It has some stores you'd expect- Starbucks, CVS, Price Chopper- but then there are different, unexpected shops like Duck Donuts & 2 specialty shoe stores- SAS and The Foot Spot. The Hallmark store and the ACE hardware are better than your average locations of those chains. There's also Salon Mission that offers hair and massage services, Dewey's pizza restaurant, and the wonderful Glenwood movie theater, among others. I've written separate reviews for many of these places. Parking can be tricky and annoying, but what parking lot isn't?!

I identified two competing shoes and immediately decided on both; one for pop of color and the other for boldness. Onto earrings: this was not a pleasant experience as we were ignored my the male associate. So upon asking for help he decided to assist another lady who happened to simply walk up. We received assistance for another sales person and when I asked about formal purses, she even escorted us down to get assistance from a real gem, Alyce! She was once a personal stylist so she wanted the whole rundown of the event and dress. She personally talk to me about occasion appropriateness, balance and harmony with my shoe choices! I was so appreciative of her attention to detail. We even walked back to jewelry and found better options and after my purchase she walked me to show me nail polish to get. THIS IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!
