Grabbed lunch here on a recent visit to my parents and really enjoyed my grain bowl. Red Leaf offers dozens of predesigned salads and grain bowls, but there's also the option to customize your salad or bowl using an extensive list of ingredients. We ordered online, which is a smooth process with plenty of opportunity to personalize your order even when choosing a predesigned option from the menu. The only annoying thing about the online ordering was that it forced me to select a green to replace some of my grain with in my grain bowl --- they either need to make the question optional or add the option to say no. BF and I both wound up ordering the Green Machine, which features a bunch of green vegetables (kale, avocado, broccoli, celery, cucumber, peas) and shrimp --- this tasted fresh and delicious. The suggested parmesan peppercorn dressing paired perfectly and I devoured every bite of the very sizable salad. My mom got the southwest salad with sweet and spicy chicken, which is her go-to order from Red Leaf. She usually gets her dressing on the side and winds up transferring a portion of her salad into a bowl at home so she can save the leftovers without dealing with soggy lettuce. I thought the prices were reasonable for the quality of food and the large variety of options they offer. Almost everything at this restaurant is an up charge budget the fees for ordering online are hidden until you are paying. It's nice to see that the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in NEPA, but this place is no Saladworks or Sweet Greens. It would be helpful if they offered some concept salads with pricing, because you can go overboard really quickly and the next thing you know, you've made $15 salad. Another point of annoyance is watching them chop the salad. This is not the time to take out your aggressions. It's a very sloppy process to watch and slightly unappetizing. And, if you take your leftover salad home be warned it will be a water mess the next day. Lastly, If you don't like salty chicken, stay away from the Cajun style or get ready to buy more than one of their overpriced beverages. Oh and a little roll or pita chip would have been nice, too. There is a vast array of toppings available, and the clear cubes filled with hydroponically grown lettuce are attractively presented. Lettuce has rarely been so enticing! We order Red Leaf (usually from the Dallas location... occasionally from WB) at least once per week. I always order online and have it ready for pickup after work. It's sooo good as long as they get the order correct. There was a time when I had three different orders in a row made incorrectly (missing ingredients, wrong dressing, etc). We've had so many mistakes that there was a time we stopped purchasing from Red Leaf. I don't find out about the mistake until I get home and we unpack our salads.
