My husband and I had just come from a movie and wanted to treat our children and ourselves to one of our favorite local spots whenever we're in town. We were looking forward to a good meal and a nice family outing, but unfortunately, the customer service we received from Kayla put a damper on the experience. The food was great as always, which makes this even more disappointing to write. However, from the moment we approached the counter, Kayla came across as rude, impatient, and uninterested in helping customers. We felt rushed while ordering, and there was no warmth or friendliness in her interactions. What stood out the most was her lack of basic courtesy. When we thanked her, she simply stared at us without saying "you're welcome," smiling, or acknowledging us in any way. It was uncomfortable and made us feel unwelcome. Customer service doesn't require much--just common courtesy and respect--and unfortunately, neither was present during our visit. Rancherito Mexican Grill has built a reputation for serving great food, and that's why we continue to come back. But front-counter employees are often the first impression customers have of a business. Kayla's attitude reflected poorly on an otherwise excellent restaurant. To the owner: your food is one of the reasons families like ours make it a point to stop by when we're in town. Im obsessed with the large asada tacos because the meat is well seasoned, finely chopped, nicely charred, super tender, and almost never has any chewy fat or gristle. This was a perfect authentic Mexican spot in Lancaster. It's tucked away within the plaza but the food is excellent. I had two tacos, one with an amazing flavored carnitas that they chopped up in front of us, added onions and cilantro, served with a nice green salsa or a hot red salsa. The portions are big to fill the large size hand made tortillas. They have many other Mexican favorites, you can also order tortillas or masa. The most impressive part is the high quality of the meat, you can also buy it by the pound or setup an in home catering event. The staff was extremely friendly and the interior was clean. read more

Hospitality at this spot mad us feel like home. Service was timely and the employees even made suggestions. When entering, the restaurant had 5-6 booths to eat. Coming from Long Beach I thought the food was good but kind of overpriced. I got the all meat burrito and my girlfriend got the carnitas plate, it was about $48 with tip, pretty expensive imo. I thought the service was really good though, the person who took my order was kind and patient but there was one thing that stood out. While we were eating, my eyes became really irritated but I thought that was due to my meal or something, but my girlfriend said her eyes were hurting too. We believe that because we sat close to the cooking station, the smell of onions was really close which was irritating us throughout the whole meal. Tried this place for the first time, this passed Friday. We tried the Birria tacos (Homemade tortillas) Carne Asada burrito and enchiladas. We loved everything. I'm a certified foodie. I went here for the first time, on Saturday, 3/8/25, after looking online for a Mexican eatery that was highly rated and had a 4-5 star rating AND recent good reviews on YELP. I usually don't go to any Mexican eateries because I've just grown tired of eating tacos/burritos/rice & beans/etc here in CA, since it seems that's all anyone ever eats around here. That's why BBQ places are rare and usually don't stay in business for very long in CA. Way too much competition with the over 3,750+ Mexican eateries just in Southern CA alone! Too many taco places competing against each other. No kidding. Anyway, I like to try all different kinds of foods, instead of eating tacos/burritos/rice & beans every day/week/month. So I had a craving for something spicy and hot for lunch, like maybe an order of Molcajete, so I decided to go to Rancheritas after reading their recent reviews and looking at the pictures of their food. Boy was I glad I did! As soon as I walking into the place, I was immediately greeted by the girl and 2 guys (owners?) working behind the counter. I stared at the menu board for too long, and one of the guys noticed and asked me if it was my first time there, I said it was my first time there and that I kinda didn't know what to order, but I did say that the pictures of their food that I saw on YELP looked good, and so I asked them about the queso birria tacos. Long story short, I ended up trying a couple of their queso birria tacos and a couple of their taco grandes with pork carnitas for the meat. OMG! All I can say is that all their food was FULL of flavors!!!! Not bland like most all of the food from other places. And I told them so. Those tacos were packed full of meat. While I was eating the queso birria tacos, I asked them if they had menudo, since I didn't notice it or see it on the menu board. I was surprised when one of the guys said that they do have menudo, and they serve it every day! :-) When I heard him say that they serve it every day, well I just had to try a bowl of their menudo before I left. So I ordered a bowl of their menudo and I was surprised again. There were BIG pieces of tripe in it, which I like more than the hominy. Great flavor too. So I took my time savoring each piece of tripe, trying to make it last a while, until there was no more. My wife came home from an out-of-town trip and I told her how good all the food was at Rancheritas and told here that I'll have to take here there for lunch next weekend. On my way out, I thanked the guys and gal for the excellent food, told them again how good it all tasted, and told them that I'd be giving them a good review on YELP. So if you want to have some excellent Mexican food that tastes way better and flavorful than all the other usual bland tasting tacos and burritos that you get at most all the other places in CA, then definitely go to RANCHERITAS!!! I had been wanting to try this place, based on the reviews and I pass by this area a lot. I ordered a regular burrito ($9.50), shrimp ceviche ($4.99), and a large horchata ($3.50). The shrimp ceviche lacked citrus, and something just didn't taste right. It tasted and looked old. The burrito, when I would bring it close to take a bite, all I could smell and taste was Burnt. After another bite, I saw the tortilla was burnt in many places. That's all I could taste. I just couldn't eat it. I don't know if it was the burnt tortilla, or the meat, rice & beans, but none of that burrito tasted right. The horchata was just ok. Very disappointed with everything. I couldn't eat it. I am working in the area and my partner and I decided we wanted Mexican food. I ordered my usual Carne Asada plate and my friend ordered a taco plate. To food was prepared quickly and was delicious without anything being added (salsas or hot sauce). The provided salsa and that just made the food better. The staff were all wearing masks and gloves. Came here first time while I was waiting for my dog at the groomers. I Walked in seeing fresh carnitas and was welcomed by them offering me a sample of them, which was so nice.
